For the opportunity Nikon D600 body review many thanks to Ivan Berdnik.

Nikon D600 review

Nikon D600 review

Nikon D600 is the first full-length amateur Nikon digital SLR camera. Prior to this, all full-frame CZK belonged only to a professional level. Nikon D600 is 'Full Frame to the Masses!'. The difference between the size of the matrix for type cameras APS-C Nikon DX and the size of the matrix for type cameras APS Nikon FXwhich the Nikon D600 belongs to is approximately 2.25 times. And believe me, in many cases matrix size really matters. True, a full-format camera requires only Fx lenses.

This is how the Nikon D600 camera looks from different sides without a lens (body) and with a lens (kit)

This is how the Nikon D600 camera looks from different sides without a lens (body) and with a lens 24-85 (kit)

The Nikon D600 has a 24,3MP sensor. This is a good indicator for a full-frame camera, I believe that about 20MP for full-frame cameras is quite enough for almost any photo task, and for those who need to print posters there are monsters. Nikon D800, Nikon D800E and digital backs. If you are a miser and count all the pixels in the resulting image from the Nikon D600, then you can count 24.160.256 pixels, which allows you to reproduce a photo of 6016 by 4016 pixels.

In the spring of 2013, Nikon already has 5 cameras with 24MP and two cameras with 36MP.

Before the release of the D600, only the Nikon D24x had a full-frame 3MP sensor, which, by the way, is already damn old, but the price of which does not fall at all. For me, the number of megapixels is practically not important. Personally, I’m even offended that manufacturers are increasing their number, and the noise level at high ISOs remains practically unchanged. Megapixels are not always as good as marketers assure, you can read more details in the section Battle of Megapixels.

Nikon D600 can work on ISO 100 to 6400 units and expand the value to Lo1 (equivalent ISO 50.) and up to Hi2 (equivalent ISO 25.600.) Here is the original example on ISO 6400 (noise reduction function is on). It's a sin to complain about the performance of the Nikon D600 at high ISO. The D600 has a lower level and a slightly different type of noise than my old lady Nikon D700.

Example photo on Nikon D600

Example photo on Nikon D600

With noise levels at high ISOs, the Nikon D600 is fine. True sorry that the Nikon D600, D800 and D800E have an ISO 6400 ceiling, older cameras could work at this value Nikon D700 и D3... It turns out that the pixels were added to the new cameras, but the ISO was forgotten. Only two models remain more efficient cameras in terms of high ISO for 2013 - Nikon D3s и D4that have a ceiling of ISO 12.800.

Nikon D600 uses the updated Nikon Multi-CAM 4800 focus sensor, this is an upgraded Nikon Multi-CAM 4800DX sensor, which can be found in Nikon D7000 и D5200. The camera uses 39 focus points, 9 of which are cruciforms. Unlike Nikon D7000 The new D600 can work with lenses with aperture up to F / 8.0. In practice, this means that the Nikon D600 focuses better in poor lighting conditions than D7000, D5200. I really don't like small viewfinder coverage with focus points. All the focus points of the Nikon D600 are in the center, which is not surprising, because here is just a modified focus system from a cropped camera. You can see more details about focus modules and their comparison here.

Many users have a choice between three Nikon D600 cameras, D700, D800 (E), such a plate may clarify the choice a bit:

For myself, I see no reason to switch from Nikon D700 on Nikon D600. Some may need video in the D600 and slightly more RAW processing due to better DD and lower noise. If the choice is the first full-frame camera, then, in my opinion, the D600 is an excellent option. When it comes to dynamic range, color depth, etc. in modern full-length cameras, I advise you to look here.

Despite the fact that the Nikon D600 camera has as much as 24 MP, with any RAW quality setting frame buffer, puts 15 frames in FX mode, 22 frames in DX mode. If you shoot in JPEG and turn off all the additional functions of software image enhancement, then 28 JPEG L frames in FX mode and 46 frames in DX mode are placed in the buffer. The buffer readings are just great for an amateur camera. The only negative is the inability to use a RAW file without compression. RAW is available with 12 or 14 bit color depth and with conventional or lossless compression.

The maximum shooting speed in any mode (with and without a booster) is 5.5 frames per second. This is enough for any type of shooting, it may not be enough for reporting, but the D600 is not a reporting camera.

The Nikon D600 has a nice viewfinder with 100% lens field of view and 0.7x magnification. It was pleasant enough for me to work with such a viewfinder, it is much more for the 'peephole' of amateur cameras like Nikon D3200, D40. In general, it is very pleasant to work with the camera. Settings and buttons are not very different from Nikon D7000. Dealing with the camera is not difficult.

Nikon D600 has a built-in focus motor, you can use any lens without a focus motor, for example, such inexpensive legendary lenses as Nikon 85mm F1.8D AF Nikkor и Nikon 70-210 F4 Nikkor.

From the pleasant moments in the Nikon D600:

  1. Measurement exposure performed using 2016 pixel like u D7000, D7100, D5200. About measurement exposure can read here.
  2. Function auto ISO works very well, the camera can automatically adjust the desired shutter speed depending on the installed lens.
  3. Two locks on the camera control wheel. This is very convenient, it really helps to avoid accidentally changing the shooting mode. I really missed such a thing on my old Nikon D90.
  4. Full HD video 1.920 x 1.080 30p, recorded in MOV format with the H.264 codec. Attention, sound recording is performed using a monaural microphone. You can buy an external stereo microphone for the camera. Video has a common problem with auto focus quality. Also, the Nikon D600 is not able to control the aperture value when shooting video. If full control over all the parameters when shooting movies is important, then you will have to look to the side Nikon D800.
  5. Support for older lenses AI-S type and any other lenses that can only be mounted on the camera.
  6. Two memory card slots SD (SDHC, SDXC, UHS-I). You can set up various methods of working with cards as your heart desires.
  7. System for cleaning the matrix from dust.
  8. Nikon D600 supports remote control of external flash units. I am a big fan of the system Nikon CLS
  9. Of course, the Nikon D600 supports high-speed 'FP' sync with external flash units. By the way, if you are looking for an extra flash, here my recommendations.
  10. A large 3.2-inch display, however, recently the number of dots in the new Nikon cameras has not changed and remains equal to 921,000. The display is the same as Nikon D800,D800E, D4.
  11. The case is half made of magnesium alloy, very similar to the case Nikon D7000.
  12. The camera has an additional monochrome display with which it is very convenient to control the camera and change the basic settings.
  13. USB, HDMI, Microphone in, 3.5mm headphone jack
  14. Battery EN-EL15, same as Nikon D7000, D7100, D800, D800E. Holds a charge well.
  15. Programmable buttons U1 and U2, which can be configured for different tasks.
  16. The camera supports automatic vignetting correction.
  17. Electronic level.
  18. Active D-lighting, bracketing exposure, ADL bracketing, bracketing white balance and HDR function
  19. Fine tune focus

What I did not like:

  • The center button is not programmable for instant zoom. After Nikon D700 Without this feature, I’m extremely uncomfortable working with the Nikon D600. It seemed a trifle, but it seriously ruined my nerves.
  • Not the entire body is made of an alloy of metals. The front part is made of polycarbonate.
  • Minimum excerpt 1/4000 s shutter Many inflate with '1/4000s' great trouble. But it’s not so scary, for example, Nikon D600 can dose using ISO 50 (Lo 1) and 1/4000 seconds as much light as Nikon D3S at ISO 100 (Lo 1) and 1/8000 seconds. By the way D1H can work with shutter speed in 1 / 16.000 seconds:).
  • When shooting video, you cannot control the aperture value. So far only Nikon D4, D800, D800E can afford full control when shooting video.

Personal experience
Nikon D600 is not so small and light as many people write about it. The camera is much larger than crumbs like D5100 or D3200. In general, the Nikon D600 is an excellent amateur camera, it is a pity that the Nikon D600 does not use 51 focus points as on older Nikon cameras, it is also a pity that not all of the camera body is made of metal alloy. But, of course, for that kind of money just cannot get a copy Nikon D4 in the housing from Nikon D7000 :). And Nikon added fuel to the fire, which covers a person’s head when choosing a camera. To new Nikon D7100 installed the updated module at 51 focus points, now many will puzzle over what to buy - Nikon D7100 or Nikon D600. I am often asked to indicate approximate prices for a particular photo equipment, Nikon D600 is still the cheapest Nikon full-format CZK:

All Nikon D600 Body prices

By the way, I personally wonder what is better when working with poor lighting, the updated focus module on the Nikon D600 or the good old module on Nikon D700, D3, D3s, D300, D300s. Personally, I am more inclined to the latter. During the time that I had the D600, I did not feel any serious differences in focusing accuracy when working with high-aperture optics. You can leave your ideas in the comments.

A popular resource for comparing cameras snapsort gave the Nikon D600 the maximum number of points - 100 out of 100. Attention: they say that the Nikon D600 has serious problems with the contamination of the matrix (video problem review) Most likely for this reason, on October 8.10.2013, XNUMX, Nikon released a new camera. Nikon D610 to replace the D600, in order to remove the poor reputation of the latter due to problems with the contamination of the matrix.

    Good day to all!
The NIKON D600 is a great camera.
I have been waiting for her appearance for several long years. Used NIKON F90X. I can't get enough of it until now :) However, life is moving forward and I really wanted a digital full-frame NIKON SLR. The reason is simple - a great set of lenses that I wanted to use digitally.
And since November 2012 I have been using six hundred.
Very satisfied. Pictures are a fairy tale! Just a fairy tale!
At the time of purchase, the test shot showed no spots on the sensor. The problem with the contamination of the matrix did arise. Exactly six months after the purchase. I found the spots by accident - when shooting an object against a clear sky.
By this time, NIKON had already announced warranty service for such a problem.
NIKON's own SC eliminated everything quickly and with a guarantee for its work.
I continue to enjoy the D600 and the life I’m shooting :)
    Good luck to all!

    • Oleg

Good evening, Albert! I also own a 600. Please tell me which lens you would recommend for wedding photography, if from the zoom with constant aperture no higher than 2.8. Or an optimal pair of fixes - as an alternative to 24-70 zoom? Thanks!

      • Albert

        Good afternoon, Oleg.
I am not a professional photographer. But I am often asked to take pictures of various kinds of events (parties in cafes, corporate parties, conferences, weddings). A wedding is a specific event in that a wedding photographer is a necessary and respected person by the participants. I mean, the wedding photographer always has access to wherever he wants. Unlike other events, where it is better for the photographer to remain unnoticed. And, perhaps, one more feature at a wedding is the transience and uniqueness of the moment. Therefore, there is no time at a wedding to change lenses. And you have to use two cameras. If the second camera is a film camera, it doesn't matter, the photos will be good too. Better, of course, two digital SLRs. Therefore, the lenses on them will be different. You guessed it - one budget zoom 24-120 with hole 4, the second wide-angle zoom 20-35 with hole 2.8. Good luck!

        • Oleg

Thanks for the answer! Will there be distortions when shooting people at 20-35 !? Thanks again!

          • Albert

Distortions may or will be. :) It is as you wish. :) But it can be used perfectly when choosing a composition! I recommend practicing. Try using Live View when doing this. Also, use the Auto Shooting function in the Shooting Menu. distortion control ”. See the Camera User Guide on pages 217 and 274.
            Good luck!

  • Sergei

Good evening everyone. I could not find 20-35 that it was on FF. thanks

  • Tata

Tell me, which of the standard zooms will reveal the potential of these pixels? (except 24-70 2.8)
    Thank you

    • VLADIMIR NIKOLAEVICH SYCHEV

Good afternoon. NIKON D600 is not as demanding on lenses as, for example, NIKON D800 or NIKON D7000, whose pixel size is almost identical. The NIKON D600 has a larger pixel, so you can safely buy not the top-end zooms (by the way, the shaker is much smaller compared to the same 7000). For example, a cheap TAMRON 28-75 / 2.8 on the NIKON D7000 was already frankly soapy (for which it was mercilessly sold), and I tried it on the NIKON D800 - it was also soapy and unsharp. But on the NIKON D600 it is very decent. I tried the whale NIKON 24-85 VR in the store - it's very sharp, I didn't buy it because of the variable aperture ratio and a little rustic drawing, and the focal lengths are not enough for my purposes. Probably, if you master, buy a NIKON 24-120 / 4 VR, that's it. Aperture 4 in full frame is enough for your eyes and for decent bokeh, focal lengths are very comfortable. As a semi-televic, I highly recommend taking a closer look at the SIGMA 70-200 / 2.8 OS, just choose carefully when buying. His drawing and bokeh are very beautiful, and sharp from 2.8 (and not brutally expensive).

      • NE

Tamron 70-200 2.8 di vs use will be much better than sigma

  • Paul

I honestly don't quite understand all these moaning in kamenty about the “amateur” segment of the camera. Dear, are you checkers, or go?
The D600 for $ 2000 offers the technical quality of images better than the whole family of triples, including and D3x, which until recently cost $ 7000, and even better than D4. Is this not enough for you?

Shot in the center of the AF points? The difference with 51-point AF in coverage is minimal. In any case, with the transition to FF, it is necessary to get used to focusing and subsequent re-framing. This applies to all FFs, not only the D600.

Artificial limitations in the form of 1 / 4000sec and a sync speed of 1 / 200sec will be a grief only for stubborn strobists who can't imagine life without working at ultra-short exposures with a bunch of light sources. For 99% of other owners, these restrictions will be absolutely sideways. By the way, talk to the Canonists, they generally have x-sync 1 / 160sec, and no one howls plaintively about it at every corner, people are engaged in photography, and do not masturbate to numbers. Well, by the way, the same 6d has 11 AF points in general, there is no built-in puff, no AF illumination, only one memory slot, the rate of fire is 1k / s lower, the guaranteed shutter resource is 100k versus 150k for the D600, and it costs more. Therefore, judging by the mood of some, 6d is generally a fierce UG. However, for some reason this is not the case, and the 6d is a wonderful camera.
D600 is an excellent full-frame, with good ergonomics, weather protection, 2 memory slots, good rate of fire, tenacious and accurate AF, and most importantly - with a gorgeous matrix. And all this for $ 2000.
And to be honest, it's funny to read about the agony of choosing between d7100 and d600. Between them is not just an abyss, but an endless space. Shoot at least a week on FF, and ANY one, even on the ancient Canon first-timer, and you will never want to return to the crop, no matter how modern and advanced it is. Even the D7100 or the K5-II stump, despite all the sophistication, will seem flawed after an old fullframe. And here they are trying to compare the unfortunate crop with a modern full-frame camera. Well, it's funny, absurdly ridiculous. This is, in principle, incomparable. Do not believe me - shoot on one and the other.
Well, about the same viewfinders for the D300 and D600 - he also pushed him powerfully into the kaments. I have just specially compared the VIs of my D600 and D300s - probably something is wrong with my vision, but the 600's viewfinder is noticeably larger and brighter.

    • Oleg

That's right, and "like garlic" !!!!

    • Taras.

Pavel, as the owner of the D600, I completely agree with you.
But be lenient — it's just human weakness.
These moans are exclusively from the owners of the D700.
old-sorry, but to buy a new one, you have to pay extra decently. D600-is not inferior to professional.
And the disadvantages described here are sucked out of the finger for 99% of the owners of this device.

    • Alexander

Put it all out! Nothing to add!

    • Oleg

      +1

  • Monya

Hello everyone! There is a question, if there is anyone on this forum who can help, I will be very glad.
I do not have much experience communicating with DSLRs (Nikon 3100, Canon 1100, Canon 600D), it so happened that it was possible to work with different devices. Firmly decided to go to the full frame, and buy expensive optics (I prefer fixes) There are two models that really interest me and I can’t decide on - these are the Nikon D600 and Canon EOS 5D Mark III (I don’t look at it as a studio one, but I’m always in movement).
Request: can someone compare these two models based on personal experience?
I understand that there is a difference between them in a piece of bucks, that one is all titanium, and the second is not (but I can’t hammer in nails) I found on the internet a comparison of foreign specialists, but it’s in English. and I have a space with this.
Yes, I’m taking pictures of nature, people traveling on trips, I want to take high-quality pictures of A3, A2, I think. Video on the drum.
    Thanks in advance!

At work (television, film production) I use Mark the third, at the very (with priority only in the photo) D600. Two good cameras, both of them twist on the "raw" jpegs, both focus well and quickly, both hold the high ISO perfectly. Studio Mark, of course, with a full park of optics, and home D600 only with 50 mm. I don't see any difference in use (after all, we are talking ONLY about photos), on the contrary, it's nice that I have the skills to control both cameras.

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

I know both devices, I advise the D600 more modern, a lot of what is not in the Mark.

      • Denis

Just about the pleasant:) ... Somewhere here in the blog, he hinted with his comments on the use of two systems Nikon and Canon. Yes, it's inconvenient - you need to rebuild your brains a little, but it's expensive. I myself use the Nikon system, but as soon as I'm on the set next to my Canon colleagues, I ask the camera to shoot for five minutes. I have a genuine interest in cameras of another system, and from this I extract many useful and pleasant moments, draw my own conclusions. With some experience, you begin to understand where you need which device (Canon or Nikon, in particular, model) and with which optics. Of course, it is easier to find fault with the technique of an unused system, but much more difficult to understand and use to your own advantage.

        • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

These manufacturers have NO bad cameras, otherwise they would have closed

  • Ivan

I personally like the picture of the D600 better, whatever you say :) And so 5D Mark III, that's just ... if finances don't press and optics, then of course take it)

    • Alexander

If Nikon D600 has a better picture, why do you recommend Canon 5D Mark3? (on 08.05.2013/XNUMX/XNUMX)

  • Monya

Eugene, Ivan many human thanks for the answer !!!
Special thanks to the forum administrator for the live forum, and for the opportunity to chat with like-minded people.
    Happy Victory Day!
Good luck PHOTO hunting friends !!!

  • Victor

I use the D7000 paired with 85mm 1.8G + 35mm 1.8G. I agree that the 7000th is very demanding on optics. Changed more than one lens. After many read tests and positive reviews, I decided to switch to the D600. Tell your fellow friends, will such a transition be justified ??

    • Oleg

It will be, believe it will be! Shooting with the purchase of the d600 has become more ... Now there are spider flowers too!))) Successful camera, no dust or oil, running already 3000 frames. Happy as a cat!

d700 is more convenient, d600 the picture is better.

It seems I saw the interior somewhere in the pictures). Very reminiscent of Dream Town in Kiev, somehow called the entertainment center.

  • Oleg

have a question on the card. who knows if the d600 will work with SDXC cards (FOR EXAMPLE WITH THIS Transcend SDXC 128GB Class 10) or only with SDHC ?? !!!

  • Natalie

Tell me please!!! I have d300s. I want to switch to FF. I re-read so many things on the internet and still I can’t make a decision. Is it worth buying d600 or all the same save up for d800 ??

    • Oleg

Do not rack your brains - if you have money, buy d600. All your glasses will fit the d600 like a native. The camera is very smart! 35 for a wide angle, 85 - a portrait! You don’t have to spend money on lenses absolutely, and if anything, switch the camera to DX mode !! My camera paid off in two months, although I'm not a pro! Remember me later, believe me! Do not listen to all the nonsense about the fact that amateur, all kinds of dirt there are tons on the matrix, a slow shutter speed of 1/4000.

  • Zoryana

Arkady, thank you for your work, for clarifications, examples and pictures. I am an amateur and recently I have D600 trying to figure out all the functions. In many of your example shots, I see the effect of such circles on a blurred background (as for example in the photo above with nail polishes). How do you get such confetti? :) Is it a filter, or a tricky function in a fotik? Thanks!!!

    • Ivan

Zoryana, this is not a filter.
The blur (bokeh) depends on the aperture of the lens, its focal length, distance to the subject and its background.
The longer the lens is longer and faster and the closer the subject is, the more the background is blurred.

      • anonym

Ivan, thank you very much for the clarification, but I had in mind a little more :). Why and how the background is blurring, I already know. In many pictures (not only in Arkady) on the bokeh I see exactly circles of different sizes. My 24-70 F2.8 lens blurs very well, but I don’t see such an effect :)

    • anonym

this is exactly the same bokeh.
not only from light sources, but from the glare of the nearby caps of the varnish bubbles.
The further the cap is, the more the glare, like a point light source, is blurred more, because they go with the same step - the effect of a linear increase is obtained.
Take an ordinary Christmas tree garland, stretch it along the floor, turn it on and off “going forward to the horizon” so that the lights follow one another in a line. Get exactly the same phenomenon.

Hello! There is a Nikon d5100 with a decent set of optics (Nikkor 17-55 f.2.8, 85 f.1.8, 35 f.1.8, 18-105, Tokina 12-24 f4). I want to go to the full frame, namely the Nikon d600 (but then I have to change all the glasses except 85mm) or is it better to upgrade to the Nikon d7100 and leave all the lenses. Tell me how to be?

    • Oleg

Good day! Don't rack your brains - if you have money, buy d600. All your glasses will fit the d600 like a family. The camera is very smart! 35 wide angle, 85 portrait! You don't have to spend money on lenses absolutely, and if anything, switch the camera to DX mode !! My camera paid off in two months, although I'm not a pro! Remember me later, believe me! Do not listen to all the nonsense about being an amateur, tons of dirt on the matrix, a slow shutter speed of 1/4000.

  • Alexander

Hello Arkady! For a great and good deed, many thanks to you personally, as well as to all participants in the project. I read you for six months, very interesting. I photographed on film my old Zenith-C with helios-44 for many years served faithfully. CZK fell into the hands of friends, got caught and liked the Nikon D600, everything really just take and take off! I bought with a whale 24-85, and even a simple telly 70-300 f / 4.5-5.6. There is helios-77M-4 I will find the adapter will be 50mm, there is another manual. I myself am a lover for myself and friends renting free time nature hiking Sakhalin-Kuril many interesting places. Since the acquisition, the camera is almost always at hand, perfectly copes with different situations. In general, the impressions are the best.

Hello Arkady! Please tell me if there is an adjustment function in the D600?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Yes, there is.

  • SeVar

If you put Tamron 600-17 / 55 on the D2.8, do the adjustments, will you get an excellent wide-angle? There is no alignment on the D3200 - with Tamron there is back focus! As far as I understand, this problem (with other people's lenses) can be solved on the D600.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Here are just 17-50 2.8 is a lens from DX cameras.

  • SeVar

Vignetting? Or something else? It can simply be exchanged for another one more suitable for FX.

  • Sergei

As a former owner, Nikon D600 can share my experience.
    Pros - full frame.
Cons - everything else. More specifically.
    - Colour. extremely strange. nothing to do with Nikon 700 and Nikon 5100/7000/800. skin tone is normal to get - dancing with a tambourine in post-processing and even then it does not always work.
    - autofocus - funny. cover only in the center. really annoying.
    - 1/4000 and synchro with puff. little things, but stressful.
    - strange detail / sharpness. like a problem with a thick AA.
the last straw was the next shutter fouling of the matrix. after two purges and abuse at the service Nikon (they wanted money for cleaning oil), he returned the camera to the store.

IMHO, the camera is damp, passable in all respects. Canon 6D looks more attractive, but there are already a lot of optics on Nikon ...

    • Denis

      Hi all!
Sergei, how can you compare the d600 and 5100? !!!! or 600 and 800? !!! What nonsense? !!!!!! We are talking about the first transition to a full frame and in all respects the 5100 didn’t lie close here !!!!!
And if we are talking about adding $ 500 and buying a Kenon 6d (I don’t know what he seduced you with: the Gps module, wi-fi or 11 focus points ..), then add $ 700 and take Nikon d800. Zadolbali clever people comparing x ... with a finger. To be clever, in fact, compare the d600 with the Canon 5D Mark III and subtract the difference in price. And it turns out "I heard the ringing - but I don't know where he is." Thanks.

    • Oleg

Which way are you looking now? towards d800?

  • Denis

Nikon has only one choice of D3x for FX (because the lower is damp), but you can't reach it: (...

  • Alexander

I want to buy this camera in a month!
I looked at Canon 6D ... but I used Nikon D90 for 2 years and I love ergonomics, etc.

Canon 6D - as many have noticed, the presence of WiFi, GPS is a plus - only these functions are like a hairbrush to me) - although they are useful and useful, and I think they will eat a lot!
The only video seems to be of better quality, but I think the camera needs to put the capabilities of the photo, and not the video, first.

The only thing that somehow alerted (most likely from misunderstanding) is this:
    "39 focus points (including 9 cross-type sensors; 33 center focus points available below f / 5,6 and above f / 8; 7 center focus points available at f / 8)"
mmm ... but what about the others ??? something on others, I did not notice that they would write that on different diaphragms different catholicity of focus points ... For example, in the same Canon 6D, the number of points also changes with a change in the aperture ??? and on others too ???

Regarding the fact that the focusing points are collected in the center - if you divide the viewfinder screen into 3 vertical and 3 horizontal lines, then it seems that the other cameras have only 1 point wider and no more - right?

1/4000 and not 1/8000 - I can't even imagine when I need this, I'm an amateur and I'm not going to make money on photos.

Although it may be in vain to "drive" the Canon 6D? can look in his direction?….

    • Denis

I'm also thinking about buying this device or perhaps D800. But real users do not speak very much about the D800, and about the D600 - I personally, in comparison with the D7000 (DX), still lack something in the D600 (twisted, filmed, but did not dare yet, left it as a last resort). Now I am looking for a used D700. Do not worry too much about the focus points, they are almost a hindrance and not a brake in terms of number and cross-like behavior.
A shutter speed of 1/8000 will help out (and more than once) when shooting on serious aperture optics on a bright day at the beach.
Don't just look at Canon 6D, the 5D MarkII was, is and will be for a long time - don't look at the supposedly outdated year, there are models that are just very successful, but there are new ones, but not the same ...
The lens is also important, or rather the behavior of a particular lens model with a specific camera. Perhaps you need to shoot mainly this or that and for this reason you need a certain lens, and to it and the corresponding camera.

      • Alexander

At the moment I have a Nikon D90, which I am thinking of selling - to drop as much as I need and a son-in-law Nikon D600. But as I wrote above, the situation with:

“The only thing that somehow alerted me (most likely probably from a misunderstanding) was:
        “39 focus points (including 9 cross-type sensors; 33 center points are available with apertures below f / 5,6 and above f / 8; 7 center focus points are available at f / 8)”
mmm ... but what about the others ??? something on others, I did not notice that they would write that on different diaphragms different catholicity of focus points ... For example, the same Canon 6D also has the number of points changing with aperture change ??? and others too ??? "

But I still want a full frame ... but Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark3 as cameras are not for money - I think they are expensive). I also looked at the Canon 5D Mark2 - and the prices for a good condition of second-hand we generally have about 1000uy - but I wanted something newer. My colleague bought himself a Nikon D600 and has a Nikon D90 - (but his wife immediately took a Nikon D600 for herself))) - so he has never regretted a purchase - and there is no dust and little. - True, I myself have not held a Nikon D600 in my hands yet.

And so I think then Nikon 28-70 2.8D can be bought (we now sell one in Minsk for $ 900 - it's a pity that we still have a carcass, if they don't sell it, I'll buy it later)), Nikon (or Sigma) 70-200 2.8 - new, as well as maybe 85mm and some width - and I hope I will be happy)

        • Denis

There is no need to worry about focus points :). Do not take any diaphragms into your head :). In principle, only the cross-shaped points should work perfectly with dark lenses when shooting at different angles, while the non-cross-shaped ones already require fast aperture optics for reliable focusing and will not always give a confident and accurate focus at all shooting angles.
In practice (!) Personally, Nikon D7000 non-cross-shaped points do not interfere with my shooting with a dark Nikkor 18-105 f / 3,5-5,6 lens in a variety of shooting conditions. And the D600 has the same focusing system (at least in terms of number of points), and perhaps a little finished. I think it will also work just as well as in the D7000.
The real thing you will have to face (and this is question # 1) is fine adjustment of focus. Even with top lenses (Nikkor and Canon), you have to adjust the focus. When autofocus is set, then the sharpness is normal, and all points (both cross-shaped and non-cross-shaped) work with a bang.
My first impressions with the D7000 were the strongest and remain so. And having tried the D600 after the d7000 did not experience anything like that. I would like a more serious technique. Maybe, as the first D600 device, it will do more ...
My colleague shoots with Mark II - her clients (and me) really like the picture (colors, softness, etc.), think :) again ...
And the best thing is to take a serious lens on your D90 - the device is very, very successful. At least the Nikkor 70-200 f / 2,8 VR II and Nikkor 85 f / 1,4G (if they had it in mind) just work just fine on crop (tested and rechecked :)). And you can always take a fullframe after a while, maybe the D800 will improve and become cheaper :). Good luck !!!

  • VOVA-S

I bought the D-600, I use it two weeks after the D-80, the difference is tangible quality, just cool optics 85mm 1.8G fix and Nikon 24-85mm F 2.8-4D IF AF Zoom I will work at weddings I will unsubscribe ....

    • Vladimir

Tell me such a moment! Like the last batches of D600 in terms of dust and oil on the matrix !! I don’t remember where, but infa ran through that it seems that this problem was fixed !! How are things with this in your copy?

  • Sergei

in the carcass there is an adjustment like d7000

  • Nick

Arkady! With great pleasure I read your articles. What are you smart! Great presentation of the material. Health to you! Creative success!
