Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM is a fast full-time zoom for cropped cameras of various systems. I reviewed the version for Nikon DX cameras, so when buying such a lens, pay attention to which system it is made for. The lens is suitable for all Nikon cameras, even the simplest ones, without a focus motor.

Main technical characteristics of Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM:

Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 is intended to be a relatively cheap replacement for 'native' lenses - Nikon AF-S Nikkor 17-55mm 1: 2.8G ED IF SWM DX и Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 17-55mm 1: 2.8 IS USM.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

The Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 is a good weighty lens with a huge front lens that uses 77mm filters. The lens is made in Japan, the copy from my review does not have any obvious backlash, and the lens trunk does not spontaneously protrude. The lens has a metal mount and a special zoom lock at 17mm - 'Lock'. But from the side of the bayonet in the lens, you can see its entire electronic soul with boards, springs and other insides. I am concerned that access to such lens elements has not been blocked. And three more screws on the inner sections of the lens, which are located behind the front lens, do not look very good.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 - has fast auto focusalmost the same as the native Nikon 17-55 / 2.8... The high focusing speed is most likely due to the low travel of the focusing ring, which rotates only 45 degrees. I notice that virtually all of these third-party lenses 'save' on either the focus ring or the normal focus motor.

Auto focus is not only fast, but also enough silent. Noise level is several times lower than that of Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 и Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 VC, all thanks to HSM.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

When focusing and zooming, the front the lens does not rotate, with filters should not be any problems. The focus ring and zoom are rubberized. During zoom, only one lens section extends. The minimum focusing distance is only 28 см, which will allow you to get macro pictures with an increase of 1: 5, which is pretty good for this kind of lens. Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 has a focus distance scale and a zoom position scale.

Bad that the lens does not support continuous manual focus control, but in order to focus manually, you need to switch the lens to the 'M' mode using the 'AF M' switch. Failure to do so could damage the lens motor.

The lens has a 7-blade aperture, which closes to a maximum of F / 22 over the entire range of focal lengths.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

The lens comes with a wonderful case and lens hood. The hood can be worn back and forth, while maintaining low access to the focus ring, even 17 mm.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

The inside of the lens. Several boards in two rows.

Of course, one of the main features of the lens is the image stabilization system, which allows take off at longer values excerpts... There is a special mode switch on the lens barrel - 'OS ON OFF'. I may be nitpicking, but generally stabilized lenses will freeze the jitter a little. JVIthat I did not see with this lens.

The instructions somehow incomprehensibly say that the stabilizer is powered by the camera even in the 'OFF' mode within a minute after turning on the camera or after pressing the focus and / or metering button exposure, or during the time while the metering is working. If you listen closely, you can indeed hear a slight noise in the middle of the lens, even with the stabilizer in the 'OFF' position. When you press the focus button, the noise just increases - apparently the stabilizer starts working at full power. This oddity can seriously affect the lifespan of a camera battery. I think this method of OS implementation is not logical. Stabilizer on the lens SIGMA C 17-70mm 1: 2.8-4 DC OS HSM MACRO works in a similar way.

Important: when the lens is removed from the camera, or when the camera is turned off, if you shake the Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 OS a little, you will clearly hear a noise in the middle, as if something had fallen off there. This is normal lens behavior, and the lens group responsible for stabilization is noisy, in the off state the lenses are not 'suspended' in the magnetic field.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

The lens was stuffed with 2 FLD glass elements and 2 aspherical elements.

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

In work, Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 proved to be quite good. Focus misses are rare, but still happen. The sharpness in the center of the frame pleasantly surprised me. But on the edges of the frame, everything is not so good, and vignetting in the wide-angle range on open diaphragms. And of course, strong barrel-shaped distortion of 17mm. If you close the aperture below F / 4.0, then it's a sin to complain about the lens.

The parameters shown in the photo gallery:
Everything is filmed on Nikon D80. EGF is 25,5-75 mm. On-camera JPEG L fine without treatment, reduced size to 3 MP. Everything was shot in N (Neutral) Picture Control. The long exposure noise reduction function and high ISO noise reduction function were turned off.

In general, I liked Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 much more than its counterparts from Tamron, especially the quiet focus motor and the diameter of the front filter. The diameter of the filter, equal to 77 mm, is considered a professional standard, under which an experienced photographer over time selects a fleet of filters.

Sometimes, when working in the cold, the focus motor starts to buzz / whistle, and the focus itself can take much longer.

Results

If you find a good copy of Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM, then such a lens will be an excellent staffer for every day and will even cope with more or less difficult tasks. The lens is attracted by a constant aperture value of F / 2.8 across the entire range of focal lengths, an image stabilizer, and fast and quiet auto focus.

Comments: 713, on the topic: Review Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM

  • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Good evening everyone! I decided to buy this lens! I liked everything about it .. but here, while reading the next reviews about this lens, I came across a branch where wedding bombings sit, there are photographers. There, in principle, all except one forum participant write that this lens for half a year is a year of average use !!! the stub is out of order .... the picture is twitching and everyone is wearing it for repairs and selling it. I do not need it for commercial filming and therefore I’m sorry to give 320 $ to me knowing that in 7-12 months it will fail. I’m going to buy in the online store and there may be problems with the guarantee, since today it is, and a year later it is already closed. FORUM WHICH alerted me from buying this lens is already quite old in 2013-14. Therefore, the question for connoisseurs is, IS THIS THIS LENS IS A DISPOSABLE ??? Or maybe Sigma solved the problem with the stub .. loop and so on ??? Please help with your visions about this! Thanks a lot in advance!

    • Denis

so it seems to have only 2 problems:
      1) back / front focus
      2) the stub (even turned off) quickly puts the battery
due to the first problem when buying, you need to check. and reliability is praised, unlike a similar tamron

    • kotofei

Stub in this sigma, as well as in related OS sigma series, has a rather small resource. Those. You cannot call it gentle, the lens normally tolerates shaking, shocks, etc. but fails over time. Infa slipped through that this is a problem with the stabilizer loop, but simply replacing the loop (a penny) does not work, the entire stabilizer assembly changes (expensive).
One way or another, after the stub fails, we get the following glitch: every 10-15 seconds the picture twitches, even if the OS = Off slider. This puts an end to the video, but absolutely does not interfere with taking wonderful photos.
If you are offered this or a similar glass with a faulty stub and are inferior at least ~ 20% of the market price for a used one, take it without hesitation, a good purchase. In fact, you get the functionality of the sigma 18-50 / 2.8, but the more outstanding optical properties of 17-50 / 2,8 and a quick autofocus.

PS info first-hand. At the very same with such a flaw.

  • Dmitriy

For this price, this lens really has no competitors. Yes, inferior to mine 70-210 f-4, 50 1.8 fix, 35-1.8 fix. (Bokeh, artistry) But good in fast (not commercial) shooting! Photo by artist parts between whale and glass pro.

  • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Thanks! I am here http://www.v-dslr.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=174&t=1055&sid=9c2cad2e336dcbd430b5584448fa0a27&start=540 I have read and now I doubt the reliability of SIGMA and am wondering whether to buy or not. True, the percentage to buy outweighs than not to buy, since the analog from Nikon 17-55 is wildly expensive, and Tamron will be even worse ... ..

  • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

    Still bought it!

    • Valery A.

And what is it? (or what?)

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

there is no delight .... where is it sharp in what place or at what aperture? chose from three copies they are all like that. The lens is not yet next to my nikkor 35mm 1.8 ... .. unless there is a zoom ... ..the question can someone tell you what aperture to shoot portraits? C 35mm everything is just 2.2-2.8 and the team has not understood yet!

        • Michael

This is normal. 35 with Nikon is very good, it is better only Sigma 35 Art with a horse price tag and then to infinity. Everything is cheaper, everything is worse

  • Oaks

Hello! You have very interesting reviews! Can you please tell me if it is better to take this lens than Kitov's 18-55 on Nikon d5500? And which one is better to choose - Nikon 35mm or 50mm. Do they even fit at 5500? Or is there some alternative?

    • Elena

Everything will work, it is better to take 35mm, since 50 on the crop is already about 70, and this is very annoying in tight spaces (it is simply not enough). Already 5 years "fifty dollars" and I want to buy a zoom, I'm sitting here choosing between Nikon 17-50 or sigma (

      • Oaks

And I choose for the first time and there are no acquaintances who would suggest) and now I have a dilemma - to take a whale or not. They say that as lucky with a whale, it may turn out to be good. I would like to find out which is better, the lens from the review or the kit nikon 18-55

        • Denis

I have not heard that among 18-55 it is necessary to choose. they are all normal. I used it for 2 years, then sold it, and it was like new. choosing between 18-105 and 18-55, I would now think, because 18-55 is more compact. pixel by pixel the picture from him suited me, replaced it with 16-85 for the sake of interest. and from the last picture for me is so flawless

        • Elena

Your whale lens will become small over time, If you choose between sigma and whale, it is better to take sigma. Sigma also has good lenses.

      • waleri

Hello everyone. Retired photographer: selling Sigma 17-50 mm 1: 2,8 with stub. In good condition, there was little work, because I bought it only last year, I shot it only on holidays. Email: valerii-lk@mail.ru I’ll answer, bargaining is appropriate.

      • Alexander

Hello Elena, Please tell me on vk.com. Still, the lens. Have you stopped? And to be honest, were you satisfied with your choice? If it works, it’s better to send an answer by mail. There is still a question dubrovin.84@bk.ru

  • Igor from Vitebsk

Arkady, hello. Give advice, please. On Nikon D7000 there is a kit 18-105. Sometimes I play around with Helios-44. Everything suits me. Shooting - family, 80% street, landscape, family portrait. There is a certain budget for the update, which option would you recommend:
    1. Buy Nikon 50, 1.8
    2. Sell a whale and buy a new Sigma 17-50 (in the store they will help you choose from several)

  • waleri

Hello everyone. Photographer, but already a pensioner: I sell Sigma 17-50 mm 1: 2,8 with a stub. In good condition, there was little work, because I bought it only last year. Email: valerii-lk@mail.ru I’ll answer, bargaining is appropriate.

    • Pastor

If I may, I’ll note that an advertisement for a sale without specifying a place of sale and price attracts about 5-7 times less people. Therefore, only two refinements will give you a much greater chance of a sale. I also note that Radozhiva, nevertheless, is not quite a suitable place for sale and I advise you to use specialized sites: from hand to hand, yule, avito. He used them more than once and always everything was sold and bought quickly and without problems.

      • waleri

I heard a comment. But this is not a sale announcement, but a response to the wishes of some forum participants to buy this lens, therefore without a price and a place of sale. (15000, Krasnodar Territory) There is an announcement on Avito. Respectfully to all forum participants, WLK.

        • Pastor

Thank you, I understand. The price is good, good sale!

  • Kirill

The lens is well built, pleasant to the touch, good optics. But sigma has notably cut down on the motor and mechanics, the motor is slow (about 40 percent from Canon 17-55) and is prone to jerking forward / backward. Stub is a separate topic, in principle it does not have a “parking position”, it always dangles, even with the camera turned off. And yes, I'm not a wedding man, but after 3 months of use, he began to twitch the picture. The body and optics are good, the mechanics are a complete failure. I bought it new. sold with a good discount after 3 months, bought a used one. canon 17-55 2.8. Don't waste time and energy on compromises.

  • Sergei

A good lens, but it fell out with my Nikon D300 on a soft carpet from a height of 10 cm (turned out of the soft case). The result is no stabilization and an eerie front focus. Now I don’t know what to do with it ……………… ..

    • Serg57

      Surrender to service ...

  • Dima

Pictures you have are weird sometimes scaled on Android. For example. Most often this happens if you click on the arrow of the next picture, if you open and close one by one, there seems to be no problem.

  • Michael

there was a problem with the nikon d7100 focus points the left of the central the more smeared, and the center and everything to the right worked fine after the adjustment. On nikon d 500, the same lens works perfectly throughout the entire field of points. While the whole, but scary to read about the stub coming up with time. I own about a year, I’m not using it very intensively. The picture suits

  • Artem

On the occasion and in connection with the fact that I have long wanted something more aperture, I ordered myself one. Plus I found it at a good price (8000 UAH. New with 12 months warranty). Today should get. After the test, unsubscribe.
P.S. There is already one 18-200 sigma in the arsenal with autofocus and stub. In principle, everything is ok, but I lack the sharpness and aperture. I hope 17-50 will not disappoint me)))

    • Artem

Yesterday I received a lens. First impressions are SUPER! Sharp from f2,8. It didn't work out particularly well. But first impressions are very positive.

  • vic946

advise, there is a Nikon 18-105 mm and a Nikon 35 mm f / 1.8g fixed, it is worth replacing them with one Sigma zoom 17-50 mm or what is the best way to do it, sell 18-105 and buy Sigma, go Thank you for the advice, amateur retirement photography , everything about everything ...

    • Arkady Shapoval

I would have left 18-105 and 35, than changed to one 17-50.

      • vic946

Thank you, but if you leave Nn 35mm. replace 18-105mm. Nikon on Sigma 17-50mm

        • anonym

If you buy Sigma, you will most likely rarely use 35mm.
Sigma, as Arkady already said, is a good full-time lens, but your set
          solve more problems

  • Kirill

Hello everyone! Tell me, please, is it worth taking this lens for the Nikon D3100 or consider the 17-70 Sigma?
There were 2 standard Nikonovsky 18-55 and 55-200, sold them.
Now there is only fix 50 Nikon 1,8

Hello everyone ... I want to share the results of my purchase of a Sigma 17-50 ... I live outside of Moscow, I was there and bought this lens ... I checked it on the D7100 in the store ... I shot 50 mm what was on the table, it seemed to get into focus, I clicked the table exactly , the sharpness across the entire field is normal ... I came home, it turned out that at different focal lengths and at different distances, the focus does not work in different ways ... Plus, even after taking the frame, until the stabilizer turns off, when viewing the shot, the enlarged picture does not move smoothly, and every time you press it a little bit .. A minute later, after turning off the stabilizer, everything starts to work smoothly ... to my question to the seller, he answered, of course, in Russian - commercial - “this is something with your camera ... Of course, I told him I didn't believe it ... Plus, when working with the built-in flash, the frames turn out to be overexposed, the feeling that the flash always works just at full power and is not regulated ... I moved this Sigma to D7000, all the described jambs disappeared and ... I took pictures at different distances and at different focal lengths, I did not notice any deviations ... If there is somewhere, it is not critical ... Of course, I will go to the Service for adjustment anyway ... My two cameras D7100 and D7000 were being adjusted in their native service. Nikon center in Moscow and work on Nikkor lenses, they are equally correct ... I concluded that Sigma, due to such shortcomings, is unsuitable for work on new cameras (those with a matrix more than 16) ... I also have Tamron 17-50 ... On Sigma, the picture seems to me a little better ... In general, I bought these lenses because of their successful combination of focal and aperture 2,8 because there is nowhere else to go in this sense, NIKON does not have such a lens, with a stub and at an adequate price ... with such a focal length and 2,8 is often needed ... So you have to spend money on third-party lenses, but if Nikon had such a lens, then of course he would not look at third-party lenses ...

about freezing viewing a known problem
but there’s still no alternative to this sigma

      • Alexander

Hanging is only with the D7100, I don't know how with the D7200 and D7500 ... Overexposure with the built-in flash is also only with the D7100 ... I put it on the D7000, there are no problems and autofocus works much more accurately, although, as I already wrote, both cameras were adjusted in their native service Nikon in Moscow ... Although, in the fact that there is no alternative, you are probably right ... Native 17-55 without a stabilizer is nonsense, and even for that kind of money ... That's 35 mm without a stub, in principle, you can use ... We used to be at Zenits and FEDs we used 50 - 52 mm lenses, there were no stabilizers and I don’t remember that because of the shaking I had not sharp pictures ... Sometimes it turned out sharply for half a second ...

Good afternoon, dear colleagues, I have a similar problem that Alexander described on 21.12.2017/0,7/0.0: “Plus, when working with the built-in flash, the frames are overexposed, the feeling that the flash always works just at full power and is not regulated ...” occurs at different ISO, apertures and shutter speeds, with auto ISO on, or off, at different focusing distances to the subject. Why this is happening, I do not know. I struggle with this by shooting three shots of flash bracketing (-0.7EV, XNUMX EV, +XNUMX EV). But you yourself, you know, photographing, for example, people at corporate parties, asking them to pose for three times, it is somehow frivolous. Anyone can advise how to live with this? :-)

  • Vasil

Vchora taking his Sigma. Move the lens 35 mm further by adding the object. Seasonal photography in landscapes is simply gorgeous.
    I can tell you.
    Camera Nikon D80.
    1. On a wide path of 17 mm є problems with geometry. Easy to edit in photo editor.
    2. The arc is quiet and focuses sharply. Pislya tamrona vin whisper
    3. From vbudovanim spalakh not vyde fotografuvati - at the bottom of the frame there will be a chorna plyama (tin). I am vbudovanim sleeper, I am very angry. Having written the whole point, ludin's, how to buy qiu sigma, bully in course.
    4. Rizky maye for the entire frame, for the exclusion of the territories.
    5. Price. Used brothers 17-55 for 500 bucks, and here 280 new
    Buying a dude of grievances.

  • Dmitriy

Good evening. I will say right away that I am an amateur. I have a D5100 with Nikon AF-S 35mm f / 1.8G DX. I mostly photograph my family in nature. Native 18-105 immediately hid in a box after a couple of photo shoots. Recently I began to shoot in studios, and realized that depending on the size of the studio, my 35 was not enough (either the composition does not fit, or it is very far). Using a standard one with a variable aperture for photographing a small child is still a pleasure. In general, I decided to change (buy) the optics and at the same time the camera.
The choice of camera immediately fell on the D7100 (secondary market). There are no alternatives, as I understand it.
The lens was chosen for the Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f / 2.8. But after reading the reviews and this site, it was decided to change the decision to Sigma 17-50. And everything would have been fine, I even started calling the sellers, but it made me want to read the reviews. It turned out that "this pair" D7100 and Sigma 17-50 are not compatible. I will say more that after reading the Internet, starting in 2012, almost all users wore a lens to a service to replace the stabilizer. They wrote that there was not a good train and that over time they promised to fix it in new revisions. But reading Alexander's review, I understand “what's wrong even now”. It turns out that there is no alternative for the new Nikon crop cameras (except for relatives for cloud money) zoom lenses with a constant aperture?

    • Denis

look at dxomark, how soapless on 55mm non-alternative 17-55 :)
Have you ever thought about a full frame?

      • Dmitriy

Show here at least one photographer who would not think about the full frame.
If I sell all of my own, and add as many more, then the maximum I can do is Canon 6D body. I'm not sure that Canon boby will be better at photographing crop with Sigm. ))) (litter for lyrics)
For home shooting, full frame is an expensive pleasure.
Maybe you have other solutions? I would be grateful for the advice.

        • Arkady Shapoval

Boo. Nikon D600 / 610, Canon 5D Mark II is not so expensive. If fundamentally, then the D700 can be found for inexpensive, well, of course, there are also cheap dinosaurs Canon 5D, 1Ds Mark II.

Quality with the D600 / 610 and even with the D700 with any budget solution like Tamron 28-75 / 2.8, Sigma 28-80 / 2.8 will be superior to the analogue of crop. True, the question is whether the user can evaluate and use this quality.

          • Dmitriy

Thanks for the answer. Quickly ran through olx. Again upset.
D700 with a range of up to 50 thousand on average 22-23 thousand. The lens is 6-7 thousand. And again the amount of 30 thousand hryvnyas accumulates, which is twice as much as my budget. Conclusion - full frame is a very expensive solution for home shooting (for me personally).

You have a small clarification on the labeling of lenses:
-Sigma 18-50 mm f2.8 EX DC Macro HSM for Nikon - a lens without stabilization, but with an autofocus motor. The first and second version, as I understand it, Sigma 18-50mm f / 2.8 EX DC, does not find Google in Ukraine.
            - Tamron SP AF 28-75mm f / 2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) - how to determine the version?

    • Arkady Shapoval

Sigma Sigme strife. There are always alternatives, for whom in this review is a paragraph about alternatives?
Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 VC is complete. For the studio, the stabilizer is not very important, so you can safely look at the Sigma 18-50 / 2.8 screwdrivers (the first and second versions). With screwdriver lenses in general, problems or incompatibilities are very rare.

By the way, even an old Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 (the first and second versions without a stabilizer) will be preferable to any less fast lens (like the Sigma 17-70 / 2.8-4 OS). In the secondary market, these Tamrons are very cheap. Of course, there are problems there, but not all users face them. For a long time I had Tamron of the first and third versions (with a stub). They did not crumble - and it was good, but they worked out their price by all 200%.

  • Alexey

Good evening. Advise. I’ve been doing photography for 1,5 years, recently I took photo courses, switched from D5100 to D7100 and now I want to choose lenses for shooting. I plan to shoot portraits, learn and shoot weddings and events indoors. There is a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1: 1.8G SWM Aspherical and now I want to choose a fast aperture zoom or two (17-50 and 50-150) for these tasks. I read a lot, chose and liked these:
    1. Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM
    2. Tamron Di II SP 17-50mm F / 2.8 VC
    3. Tokina AT-X PRO 20-35mm 1: 2.8 235 AF
4.Nikon N AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm 1: 4G ED VR SWM IF Aspherical Nano Crystal Coat

I like sigma and tokina, but I'm inclined to the first because of the greater versatility in focal and working aperture of 2,8, and it is better to use tokina in ff. Then Nikon, everyone is good, but the low aperture repels, because already tried shooting at faster aperture zooms. And lastly, consider a tamron, because worse in many ways than the rest. What would you take?

    • Arkady Shapoval

Good day. Or this sigma (which is in the review) or Tamron 17-50 VC. In addition, Nikon 80-200 MK3 or Sigmu 50-150.

      • Alexey

Thanks for the quick response! If you choose from these sigma and tamron, then, in your opinion, which is preferable? And is it possible to rent an entire wedding at 17-50 or is it better to have 50-150 (80-200) in one set?

        • Arkady Shapoval

Better Sigma. Can be removed easily.

  • Nikita

Today I took this glass to Canon and is very pleased, although I have not yet had time to carry out full-fledged tests, but it is already clear that this is exactly what I needed. Earlier in his arsenal he had a “fifty kopeck piece” and a whale.
Looked at Tamron - it didn’t seem interesting, although it might have been caught.
    All glasses looked used.

  • Vasyl

By purchasing a Sigma 17-50 to your Crop Wicker D80. During the day, the photographs are even more clear and there are no complaints, but at night ... I know the tripod from the additional remote control and the timer - it’s nice to go, just like it’s here. Pretty scary right from the focus of the display and the diaphragms. I’ll try to turn on the stabilization so that it doesn’t befit for me. Could it be a little bit more?

    • Oleg

The stabilizer should be turned off when shooting at shutter speed, it is also recommended to turn it off when shooting handheld moving objects, if shooting is conducted with wiring.

      • Vasyl

Until tsyo koristuvavsya tilki fiksami without stabіlіzatsії. Having read it later on the Internet, I need to turn on stability.
Dyakuyu duzhe Garneau for the joy - viklyuchati stub when photographing with wiring.

        • anonym

          well, helped? good sharpness now?

  • Ivan

Good day! I want to be nice, I want to buy a Sigma Zoom 3000-17mm 50: 1 EX DC OS HSM for Nikon d2.8. Chi pіdіyde deniy obktiv to the carcass, chi will everything be normal funktsіonuvati ???

    • Michael

      Yes

    • Arkady Shapoval

Good day. Yes, everything should work.

  • Alexander

Finally, I bought it !!!! I spent a long time choosing a camera for Nikon D90 - I thought about 18-70, 18-140 and others. And Tamron 17-50VC wanted ... I chose everything from second-hand. Stopped at Tamron 17-50 VC and Sigma 17-50 2.8. But when I found out that Nova Poshta would not let me check the lens for back / front focus upon receipt, I decided to buy NEW without the mediation of Nova Poshta with a store representative in Dnipro. They sent it, I checked - everything is clear !! But they didn't put the hood in))). Later they sent another lens with a hood, I checked it - and this one does not front. Miracles!!! At 50mm 2.8 the sharpness in the center is gorgeous! For portraits it is. Now I'm wondering what to do with Nikon 50mm 1.8D - keep or sell? (add $ and buy Nikkor 70-210 f / 4).

Arkady, thanks for the review - I helped with the choice !!!

    • zengarden

You are lucky :) but fifty dollars do not rush to sell, you always have time; and in the secondary market it is inexpensive.

  • Irina

I have a Nikon D3100, I tried a friend Sigma 17-50 mm lens for Nikon on my carcass, but the DSLR does not see it although I read reviews that they are perfectly compatible. What are the reasons and whether to try this lens again. The reason is a screwdriver, but then why does it work in others ... maybe it's used. Please help .. if it does not work, is there a replacement for my d3100 with a constant aperture of 2.8? thank you in advance!!!

    • Denis

      in what other screwdriver?

    • Arkady Shapoval

most likely just an unsuccessful combination came out. Somewhere on the micron, the contact did not reach, so it does not see.
A good replacement is the Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 VC.

I have already had this year a Sigma Zoom 17-50mm 1: 2.8 EX DC OS HSM lens was bought for the Nikon D3300. On ebay.es (I live in Spain) with an Irish wholesaler for 235 euros. Delivery in the EU is free. I will say right away there are no problems with autofocus at all. Everything is wonderful and sharp like a razor. I watched him with caution for half a year. But no, everything is ok. Known jambs 1. Does not turn off the display of the stabilizer on the screen. 2. dull when scrolling. The screen does not go blank after taking a picture for a set time. (With this lens, the standby mode is not relevant) Well, in theory, everything. I changed the carcass to the D7500 from the same seller. For 758 euros. He was 858 but ebay sometimes gives out discount coupons if you regularly monitor the price of the product. Well, I was lucky to use the March coupon for a discount of 100 euros. On the D7500, everything is left except (no longer stupid when scrolling) everything is ok. Who is interested in the bundle with the D7500. And so a wonderful lens. Well, with some nuances not critical for this price. Link to the seller. Maybe someone will come in handy!

Dear gulit. Do you really not have a known jamb of some sigma for nikon, and precisely this 17-50 sigma, expressed in autofocus errors when using points other than the central one? The farther from the center, the stronger the backing, and it is impossible to adjust the standard means of the carcass, since amendments are made only for the center point.
