Lily's best at producing kids and cats.
And it doesn't matter with what lens she shot ...

    Wonderful shots, masterful processing.

The most interesting thing is that having the ability to produce glass of this class and quality, manufacturers, for some reason, invent something. Although these schemes are already known to everyone, photographers have more than once proved that these glasses still have a margin for clarity, quality and color rendering of the picture.
If you give these lenses a second life in the form of autofocus and stabilizer, I think they would be in demand. Indeed, quite a few glasses have their own style and style, just like artists. And the new lenses are pretty good, but sometimes they lack something, and probably adequate prices, so as not to pay for what you can have on old lenses, their illness. And so it turns out they did not get rid of the old ones to the end, so they also instilled new ones. Could Chinese people try to reproduce the technology of these lenses and sell, and they would go like pies from my grandmother in the market.
It turns out quite interesting today, Sony moves its photographic products not badly, which even allows third-party companies to make equipment for their equipment, which is only a plus. After all, when buying a mirrorless camera, the choice will be towards Sony, why? - they have been on the market for this technology for a long time, they have both their own fleet of equipment and third-party ones, which only plays into the hands of the company and the owners. It is unlikely that anyone will want to buy mirrorless cameras from other companies, there is technology, but not particularly well-run and modified, there are few native lenses with a new mount. And to say that third-party manufacturers with their optics make competition strong, so they only occupy some kind of poverty, and after all, the optics park is wide. And Sony is now rushing to the market with large lenses (300mm, 500mm, 1000mm).

    • koba

right, and this is because almost no one is involved in creativity in photography, 99% of modern photography is advertising photography, where you need to flaunt large fixes with incredible resolution (the main resolution is the main thing!) and also expensive cameras ... The rest buy classic lenses for creativity and doing their job. It is surprising that the Chinese still have not re-launched the biotar circuit in production, since they have even more so produced a very good quality version of the biotar called Haiou64, but only for the MD mount. They say that he is even better optically than Helios. There is another point - modern manufacturers have turned out to be dependent on bloggers - in fact, on incompetent reviewers who require that only the resolution is sufficient for "tests", otherwise they will not be able to write a positive test. It got to the point that Fujifilm was the first to start giving out cameras with lenses as a gift to leading bloggers, Nikon always looked at them and their users from a high, Canon too, so they got on with it - bloggers did what they would soon become a part of history Nikon order has already started, Canon order is not far off either. The third reason, I think, is that the USSR produced wonderful lenses in millions of copies, yes, there unscrupulous people, direct internal enemies of the USSR, did their best to lower the quality of all goods, not only lenses, so that people would later believe in their powerlessness to produce something, and in this way to break the people, which happened (being changes consciousness - this law of nature and dialectics was discovered by Marx), but even despite this, the lenses remained and turned out to be so tenacious that all modern manufacturers taken together could not compete with them, that is on the technical side, it is possible to produce much more advanced versions of those lenses, but on the economic side, it is impossible, it is impossible to fit metal and glass lenses into the price category up to $ 100 or even up to $ 150. The secret of those lenses is in the use of real optical glass, and not various modern hybrid materials, and this is expensive, their processing is not so easy, and making the mechanical parts of their metal is even more difficult and costly. The fourth reason is that such lenses “live” for decades, or even more, and manufacturers need them to break immediately after the expiration of the warranty period. Do not forget that the USSR tried to meet the needs of the people, and to produce goods that would serve as long as possible, but under capitalism the opposite is true, and the producers do not care about the goods themselves or their users - they have only one goal - it is to maximize profits ...

      • Andrei

        Long served Lada without repair?

        • Roman

Enemies made their way at night and broke. To the poor owner of the Soviet regime. Each machine was assigned a personal enemy. It was necessary to shoot everyone.

        • Iskander

Personally, I have IZH Jupiter-5 leaving for 15 years without major repairs with a rather aggressive manner of driving around the city with not the best roads. All critical units - bearings, oil seals - are native from the factory. The checkpoint is eternal. Replacing the entire cylinder-piston group cost about 200 rubles - this is one worker's salary. A thick book was attached to all the equipment, according to which the overhaul could be done on the knee in the garage. Yes, these were technologies that have not changed since the beginning of the century, yes, they ate gasoline in buckets, but gasoline also cost 20 kopecks, and there was a lot of it. So there is no need here about stupid scoops. Now, in order to change the candle on the car, you need to drive it to the service station.

          • Roman

And in Europe, they just built normal roads. Dumb.

        • koba

In the USSR, destructive processes began after 1954 and everyone gradually turned back, only a fool does not know about this, so the Zhiguli is a brainchild from the same period ...

      • Roman

"There is another point - modern manufacturers have turned out to be dependent on bloggers - in fact, on incompetent reviewers who only require that the resolution is sufficient for" tests ", otherwise they will not be able to write off a positive test."

Bloggers are bloggers and are the target audience. If CA requires permission (a very controversial statement, by the way), then the market will work for permission. Because the market works according to the requirements of users, no matter how absurd they may be, satisfying the desire of people. And it’s not the party and the government that regulate how many people have what, who should be photographed for, and who should be shot.

      • Stas

This is the diagnosis: Brain Scoop ... I sold 81n myself and I don’t regret it, the 1.8% poltinic satisfies MY needs, although Bloggers praise Helios for Nikon for interruption)

    • Roman

These photos are a demonstration of how, using imagination and post-processing, as well as features and, frankly, imperfections of the lenses, you can get quite decent, but still niche results.

The contribution of Helios' own fabulous and magical drawing is 10% of photography from strength. Everything else is a low-contrast and out-of-focus image, fearful of exposure, with strange swirling bokeh that still needs to be used. And a lot of post-processing. And also many different attempts, experiments, searches and many, many WORK. This is creativity. A person with imagination and a willingness to create absolutely does not care what to do it with. I drove myself into the constraints of a gelik - OK, let it be a gelik. The autofocus 50 is good. 1.2 / XNUMXRF is also good if the budget allows. To a person without imagination and taste - that the “legendary” Soviet glass (according to the legendary stolen, do not forget, the optical scheme of Biotar Zeiss, only with a constant deterioration in quality, a decrease in the aperture blades and oil on them, no blackening, backlash in the lenses - damned enemies, everyone shoot) that modern technology - nothing will help.

      • Rodion

Is Biotar 58/2 original better? Reviews about him are so-so.

        • Roman

Where has Zeiss gone in forty years, and where has owls. Optics…

      • Duck

        Exactly!

      • Iskander

Why stolen goods? Trophies are sacred. Compared to what the Germans were doing here, these are generally trifles, for this they plowed in camps and research institutes after the war, and many of them later returned home to Germany. By the will of fate, the Zeiss plant ended up in the Soviet zone of occupation, and it would be unwise to ignore its developments. After all, the Americans did not hesitate to use Wernher von Braun's developments to create their own missiles, although he was a Nazi and his factories became a grave for prisoners of concentration camps. Or did you not know that? Or does modern education fail to understand this? Or do you not know what unconditional surrender means?

        • Roman

          You?

          • Iskander

            German?

        • koba

Sometimes it seems that people know very little about the war. Moreover, they generally have no sense of patriotism or even conscience. Trophies are scanty compensation for the damage caused to the USSR or any other country in a similar war! For that damage, the USSR could have bought not only the Zeiss plant, but everything else in the photo industry, by the way. You have to know something else in life, besides photography, there is no other way. And where to learn and how to master a conscience is everyone's personal business.

  • Maria

very beautiful gallery. Made with a soul, never a feeling of insincerity. Although all such topics have already been overestimated enough, but anyway. Very nice to watch this.

  • Maria

I don’t know, maybe I don’t have enough skill, but I couldn’t use Jupiter with Canon. Too soft and artistic picture came out, apparently the post-processing booze is in no way here.
But on Nikon alteration works very well at full frame.
And the 81-N is most liked on the crop, at full frame it somehow looks dull.

    Thanks again about the gallery.
I saw all my favorite lenses. Only Wave-9 is missing; it turned out to be a very pleasant and sharp portraiture

Such works here always inspire studying further.

And to the author - creative success.

  • Alexander Malyaev

I have Helios-81N, D600, a set of lenses with AF, and I am ashamed. :) The work is wonderful, the hands of the master are golden.

  • Anonymous 2.0

Very very cool, directly motivates to take a camera and shoot, no matter what)
Separate respect for the link to the author’s Instagram)

  • pchel

Nice, but it's time to delete the mailing letters without going to the site. That would be a description of the shooting technique ...

    • Roman

      1. Looking for a suitable location (cottage, summer)
      2. Looking for a suitable model (girl, dog, snail)
      3. Profit

In the pictures there is nothing outstanding in terms of shooting technique, I'm not sure that even auxiliary light is used there. But all is well with the imagination at the stage of shooting and processing. And this is already there or not. Partially it is possible to develop, but by shooting, and not by studying the way of shooting other pictures. Photos are more for lens capabilities and inspiration.

      • pchel

Well, I’ll get better: not the shooting technique, but the story of the search, successes and failures. Such stories are very inspiring.

    • Neo

One recently tried to describe, zafukali, had to delete the text

    • Arkady Shapoval

I ask everyone to write a couple of lines about how they got these results. But it is rather difficult to write about it, because most of them limit themselves to providing photographs. From practice I know that 99% of success is just the desire and intention to shoot, the photo is obtained during the process, all the nuances are invented, are also in the process.

      • Maria

And rightly so. In most cases, this is a time-consuming process, but obvious, there are a lot of schemes and methods of processing on the Internet, everyone is looking for a combination of them for themselves.

There is also a great way - to show the make-up "it was became". It's even more interesting - like a quest. Achieve a similar result.

      • Iskander

And I would also like to know more about post-processing - what filters were used, etc.

    • Anonymous

Technique: Take with you a small model with an irrepressible character and ... Helios, Jupiter, zenith; you go to a village full of all kinds of animals ...
Plots, of course, are pleasant. Very good post-processing, creating a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Where to like?

      • Arkady Shapoval

  • Dmitriy

Small cool, children are the best fashion models))

  • Irina

Charming photos taken by Helios-44-2. I like old lenses.

  • Maria

    By the way.

Already several authors in a row - these are healthy (I do not argue) but cute macro of mushrooms and flowers, and kids, and cats.

And where are the kiddie collections?

I, personally, would be most interested in the work of the authors. who uses Soviet televisions, but competently, retains vibrant saturated colors, photographs very interesting shots in dynamics, horses, sports.

After all, there are pros in this business. Someone will say pfff.
But I’m interested. And for horses, dancers and flying gulls, I gladly drown.
Not to the detriment of artistry and ideology, of course.

    Thank you!

    • Arkady Shapoval

There are a huge number of genres in photography, you will not please everyone, therefore no one will try.

      • Maria

        Arkady, well, you misunderstood me.
I never asked to please me. BUT if there is such an opportunity in the future, it would be interesting to see such a review.

        • Peter Sh.

          Maria, personally for you)

        • Peter Sh.

That's just with a manual fix, nothing will come of it.

        • Peter Sh.

So there’s nothing to write about. Alas)

    • Andrei

Manual televisions difficult to shoot sports, horses. Snails are much simpler.
