At one point, a person who is close to me said: “You are so cool, you take pictures with expensive cameras and lenses, but try to work on manual optics, for example, on a naughty Helios-44-2“. At that moment, the thought flashed in my head that I still had 1 genre in photography, which I hadn't mastered over the years as a photographer, it was a macro world, but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a macro lens, I I wanted something unusual, so that there was an artistic picture and not expensive. “And why not obedient, is it really so difficult to work with him, with this Helios” - I thought. My interest won me over. In my life I have always overcome difficulties and did not give back. I fell into my hands exactly Helios-44-2 2/58 and it was love at first sight. This lens saved me from rushing, taught me to be patient, attentive. Colleagues said that it’s impossible to take a macro on Helios-44-2, I proved them otherwise. True, it was worth a lot of effort, when photographing insects and out of 200 frames you get 5 worthy pieces, or you spend several hours for an ant or a ladybug to crawl where you want, and then you have 2 seconds left to make a shot and you just miss - it's a thrill!
I love this model for his bokeshki and character, which is similar to me - impudent, sharp, harmful :). I don't want another model. We became great friends after a month of traveling together. I work with him for Canon EOS 60D и Canon EOS 5D Makr II. For macro, I use more often crop, and for portraits and video a full frame. You can write a lot about this lens, but for the soul, what you need. I'm glad that fate brought me exactly with Helios-44-2.

Macro is always surprising!
Quite a strange remark about naughty, because on a full macro, even with 100 / 2.8L, you often have to switch to manual mode and focus on LiveView - autofocus or mounts, or focuses in the wrong place - the FLIP is tiny. So, of the real advantages, only the electronic diaphragm remains - to close Helios before shooting before 8-11 is another test. Well, the sharpness of the picture, but here, on the contrary, the author has a style of such airiness.
So the pictures are good, and the arguments are dubious.
Many photographs are truly beautiful: in most cases, the color found is harmonious, and the composition is expressively well done! And inevitable misses are quite rare. I will say this as an artist. But as a photographer it seems to me that this glass is not worth such labor and enthusiasm, and the time spent on life. Like everyone else, I could be wrong, but the low quality of this optics has long been made public.
So many tasty ideas. Some dandelion parachutics on cherries are worth something. The last time I find myself on the fact that finds and they charge me to search for something like that. The most important thing that gave me is important in the work.
