    1. Arcadia and all those responsible, thank you
    2. Please help me choose an AF lens ~ 70-300 (400) on Nikon3100 for inexpensive. The fact that there will be no autofocus on the d3100 does not bother, just to confirm the focus was. Need sharpness for bird hunting. Now I use Tele H 200mm-little

    • Michael

      What price ceiling?

TAIR-3A can be viewed or suddenly Nikkor AI 300 4.5 will appear at a flea market at a reasonable price (in general, they are more expensive than the designated one). Conventional zooms of the 70-300 class at the far end are very messy - they are difficult to shoot with them. Or you have to dig up (~ 10 more) - there are already very interesting options.

          • К

I read about Tahir and Nikon. Tahir is heavy, Nikon is not to be found. Therefore, I am looking for a zoom, more or less acceptable, albeit from old

              Af need

            • Michael

              A) well AF for such a price there will be soap ... I will not tell you

            • Valery A.

With focus? At 3100, this is the Nikon 55-300mm, AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm VR and the Tamron variant 70-300 VR. Last for 8-10tr. may get caught. Yes, and native for 10-13tr. also happens. The 55-300 is also a good telephoto, but compared to the 70-300 VR, the focus is slower and the soapy one on the long end.

            • Valery A.

By the way, confirmation of focusing - indication in the OVI - should be with any lens, shouldn't it be with a telear?

            • Michael

With AF, so that the chip is and measures the exposure, as I understand it

    • Oleg

On manual focus only static birds, and flying very difficult. I had a Sigma 70-300 APO DG lens, the price is still less than $ 100. A decent lens at this price, but it has autofocus only for Nikon with a “screwdriver”. I tried it with a x2 converter, it turned out at the long end of 600 mm, but the quality suffered noticeably, well, focusing with a converter, but it is simple, mechanical, it was only manual. By the way, the option to use a lens with a converter that will double or even triple the focal length is also interesting - it's cheap, but you need to understand that this will affect the quality and aperture - you will need even more light.

      • К

I’m flying and not going to, unless by accident. Need for walking, sedentary. I'll think about the converter. thanks

  • К

With the telearea, the dot blinks constantly, at least focus. But with Nikon manual 50 / 1,8 there is confirmation. I’m quite comfortable with manual focusing, if only the 300mm lens were cut open and the price is lower. Why do I ask for advice and reread it here on the site about the sea of lenses and got confused. It would be 3, it was easier to choose. Now I am inclined to sigma af 70-300apo dg

    • Michael

Soap too, except maybe a raven. There are 120-400 - very good good lens, but won't fit into your budget

      • К

        I get it. thanks

        • Valery A.

I think that without a 300mm stub it's not life. Therefore - my options are higher. As a last resort - Nikon 55-200VR, out of savings.

          • К

Her. 200 a little. Thank you! We will see

          • Michael

For birds, a stub is usually not needed, there are shutter speeds of the order of 1/800

            • Valery A.

Where can I get so much light, because I also need to cover the diaphragm with up to 8 or more, for sharpness.

              • Michael

When there is a lot of sun, you can cover. And so open and ISO is far from 100 even during the day. Otherwise, all small birds such as tits, crossbills, etc. will be lubricated - very fast and constantly in motion, even when they are sitting) With large ones, it is easier in this regard

    • Oleg

Here, by the way, is an example on a Sigma 70-300 APO DG without a stabilizer, but at the short end: 70 mm, F4 (maximally open), shutter speed 1/15, handheld shooting with wiring at a tracking focus.

Has anyone used a Yongnuo 685 or 968 flash in TTL mode with Nikons? I want to hear reviews :)

  • Sergei

    Hello.
Tell me, I want to buy the first Nikon for myself. I have in use Sony and Olympus. I want to use a rarity for the sake of acquaintance and a beautiful picture for creative purposes. There is no way to hold it in your hands, only a used purchase on the Internet. I am considering options for D40, D50, D90. Price + - the same.

    • Denis

Why is the D200 not listed? his matrix seems to be the same as that of the D40 and D50

      • Sergei

Because these are the models that I found nearby.

    • Valery A.

In the picture, the D40 and D50 are almost the same - the matrices are the same, like 40 due to the newer processor it draws a little differently, but you need to have an unrealistically full eye to see, but the D90 is not clear why next to it - it has a CMOS matrix ... The 6-megapixel SSD-matrix also has a slightly older and more advanced D70 and 70s, although the screen there is the smallest - 1,8 ″ versus 2 ″ in the 50 and 2,5 ″ in the 40. But 40 does not have a drive for "screwdriver" lenses, and they are almost twice cheaper (with the same optics) of modern motor lenses. In general, take what is better preserved, i.e. with less mileage and better appearance.

      • Sergei

Yes, I did not try to compare them. Just just the opinions of photographers wanted to know. Who had what experience. Many say that the D40 mole has a unique picture, and the D90 in general is almost true. So I want to try. There have never been any nikons. Naturally, I will not use it as the main one, for the sake of interest and experience;)

        • Denis

I don’t like photos with the D90, no better than other Nikon CMOS
but the D40 is unusual, I recommend it from 18-55 VR

    • BB

Of these, the D90 is the newest, it has a newer matrix, it will work better in poor lighting conditions. Well, in general, the device is very interesting

      • Sergei

Wow, this is what I wanted from you. Healthy analysis

      • Valery A.

Aah. I thought it was about a 6-megapixel ssd-matrix, and then yes, of course.

    • US6IBD

Filmed simultaneously on the D80 and on the D610. The colors on the D80 are awesome due to the CCD matrix. He himself did not believe in the features of CCD matrices until the opportunity appeared to use two cameras during one photo shoot.
      I recommend!
Or D200. He is voracious, but can determine the exposure with manual lenses.
If you choose from 3 of these, then:
The D50 has only 6MP, but it has a “screwdriver” and an additional LCD display, which the D40 lacks. And the D90 has one of the first CMOS sensors, which is not very perfect.
In general, it is better not to rush into the purchase, but to "watch" for a couple of weeks at OLX. Study the suggestions. I bought all my cameras there, with a range of 3300-3600.

      • Arkady Shapoval

D2x / s, even on CMOS, but also a very decent color

    • Sergei

In short, you'll probably laugh, but I took the D40 and D300s)))

  • Andrei

Hello! I got a Nikon d3500 camera three days ago. The first day I shot normally, in the evening I understood the settings. Today I went to take pictures, black photos are obtained. the device did not fall, did not flood with water. yesterday’s photos are visible on the map, today’s not. Tell me, what could be the reason? tried to shoot in automatic mode and in manual

    • US6IBD

      Remove the cover!
But seriously, when you don’t remember what settings were knocked down, you can reset the camera to factory settings.
Check the lens settings. Maybe the diaphragm is knocked down with a minimum and as a result, automatic control does not work.

    • Ivan

Once you climbed into the settings, it is possible that twisted the exposure compensation.

  • Dmitriy

Good evening. They offer to buy the first flash purely for home use sb 600 at an attractive price. Is it worth it to take?

    • Michael

if the price is attractive, it is worth it

      • Dmitriy

Highly. Just wanted to take a yongna. But probably the native Nikon 5100 will be better.

        • Michael

better, especially under 5100 and easy to use

        • Denis

if you want the flash to automatically adjust its power - what a native
if the manual mode, then no difference. yongnuo machine is completely inoperative

          • Denis

            typo, "... then native"

  • Basil

Question No. 1 Sigma art 85 1.4 and 135 1.8 will autofocus work on the d5100?
Question number 2, advise a camera with focus picking function than cheaper. Is there a Sony NEX6?

    • Michael

      # 1: will work. How good is unknown, you need to check on a specific camera

  • Vladimir

Arkady. I just want to say thank you so much for your work and kindness. I am an illiterate teapot and often when I look for something on the secondary market I find you have answers to my questions. Thanks again!

  • Yana

    Arkady, good afternoon.
Tell me what to take a lens for portraiture.
I have a nikon d3100 camera, I rarely use it, I usually photograph my children's holidays.
Inexpensive (up to 2000 UAH / 5200 rubles), for home photo sessions.

Thank you in advance for your response!

    • Michael

If you need autofocus, then just look at the flea market. The most budgetary autofocus option Nikkor AF-S 50 1.8 G is like this https://radojuva.com/2012/02/obzor-nikon-50-mm-f-1-8-g-af-s/

      • Oleg

50G 1.8 used price in the region of 4000 UAH - twice as high as the indicated budget. Yongnuo 50 1,8 fits into this budget, and you can buy a new one, maybe a couple of hundred more expensive.

    • Nicholas

      Nikon Nikkor AF 50mm 1: 1.8D about 70usd.
It is a working option for the money

    • Nicholas

      https://www.kijiji.ca/v-camera-camcorder-lens/calgary/nikon-nikkor-af-50mm-1:1-8d-lense/1483003376?undefined

This is the Calgary classifieds site. Judging by the last name - the seller is Ukrainian, but not sure. Try to write, maybe he will answer.

    • Nicholas

I forgot to clarify - the price in the ad is Canadian dollars. Divide by 1,3 for usd

    • Nicholas

Yana, sorry, false alarm, there is no screwdriver on D3100 - i.e. a series with the letter D will not work for you. :(

      • Valery A.

So what if there is no screwdriver, you can practice focusing your hands almost as fast. Itself once took 50 / 1,8D to 3100. Samyangs, Zeiss without AF are issued. P.S. And not the letter D, but AF-S / AF, look, for example, at this: Nikon 300mm f / 4D IF ED AF-S and at this: Nikon 28-80mm f / 3.3-5.6G AF.

        • Dmitriy

It depends on what you take. If shooting is slow, it is possible without autofocus. I used this on 5100 (I took it from a friend) but I bought myself a 35mm1.8 DX.

  • Nicholas

    Hello!
    There are 2 questions.

    1. Why optics for UPC cameras are often less bright than for DSLRs? A recent example - zoom 24-105mm F4-7.1 for Canon UPC and 24-200mm 1: 4-6.3 for Nikon UPC
    2. If you put optics from DSLRs on the BZK through an adapter, will it affect the aperture ratio of this optics? Because the sizes of the adapters are quite large, and in such a situation I personally beg the analogy with macro rings, which, as you know, specifically dampen the lens aperture

    • Arkady Shapoval

      1. not often, but rarely
      2. in this case, nothing will change

      • Nicholas

        Thank you!

    • Michael

      1. Apparently, in order to get compact sizes and continue to shout which mirrorless ones are small and light, FIG knows what they have in mind. Although aperture lenses for BZ are also a car.
      2. Nothing will happen - macro rings reduce the amount of light, moving the lens away from the image plane, and the luminous flux decreases accordingly. Optics from DSLRs works at its calculated working distance - nothing moves anywhere, so there will be no fall in the luminous flux

  • Vladislav

    Hello Arkady!
I bought a used Canon 7D, without a lens, I want to immediately make the latest firmware. (I know how to do it, I did it for Nikon, but there was a lens).
Question: can I do camera firmware without a lens installed?

    • Alexey

There is no connection between updating the camera firmware and the lens. By the way, it does not always make sense to update the firmware. If, for example, there is a desire to use Magic Lantern in the future, then you need to clarify which specific firmware version of a particular camera ML will work with. Rolling back (i.e. decreasing) the firmware version for a non-specialist can be difficult.

  • Sergei

And what can you say about topcolor 1: 2.8 35mm? They say a rare lens and seemingly interesting, but most importantly, how is it in terms of quality and compatibility with modern cameras, such as the Canon 650?

  • Alexander

Lens Canon KIT 18-55 1: 3.5-5.6 III auto focusing occurs only in the extreme zoom positions. If you shift the zoom a little, the focus runs to the edge and you get soap. An autopsy showed nothing (there was a suspicion of oxides or garbage). If I put another lens, everything works fine. Maybe someone has any thoughts or have encountered similar? Thanks for attention!

    • B. R. P.

Something like a loop. The service prompt.

      • Alexander

Visually, the train is normal. Everything would be fine, but I'm in a foreign country, and it’s not very good to go home because of this….

friends, comrades! help, please tell me!
They asked a question to me, who introduced a little into a stupor. a person needs to take a photo in the course of work (dentist). The easiest option I found: Canon EOS 1300D + Tamron SP AF60mm F / 2 Di II LD [IF] MACRO 1: 1. are there any better options given that small budget?

    • B. R. P.

A normal kind of option. To him would be a flash ring yet.

    • Jury

the dentist is better off a macro lens with a focal length of 100 (105) or 150mm, even on a crop. Be sure to ring flash, as answered above.

Hello. I want to take the first camera. There are a couple of options. 500D and 550D. I want to try macro and timelapse. finances do not allow taking something new. What do you recommend in 2020 for training?

    • Roman

There is no fundamental difference between the 500D and 550D, but overall the 550D is better. Time-lapse requires a tripod and a timer that will release the shutter in time. None of these two cameras can natively. For a macro, a tripod is also useful. Well, and a specialized lens, of which there are at least two for the EF-S (plus several for the EF). Purely for a try - macro rings with contacts for lenses with focal lengths up to 80 mm, macro lenses for telephoto lenses from 100 mm.

    • Alexey

For time-laps, it’s more convenient to use ML firmware

Hello, tell me please, I can’t decide what to choose for the 650 kenon. I’m thinking about buying a lens for the whale and looking at the sigma 30mm 1.4 and the 50mm kenon 1.8
I don’t know what to choose. In the room and in the full-length photo studio and in the belt I want to shoot and I want a beautiful picture.

    • Michael

For growth portraits more than 30mm is suitable

Good afternoon 1 Dear Arkady Nikon, will create a digital SLR digital camera with a built-in battery pack in the Nikon D-5 housing for shooting Landscapes of Interiors 60 million Megapixels after Nikon D-850? Series: X Nikon cameras will not develop further Will:?

    • Arkady Shapoval

Nikon released the D6, obviously the D5X will be gone.
Multi-megapixel cameras D1x-D3x transferred their functionality to the D800-D850 line

  • Sergei

And what can you say about this lens, can it be installed on a modern camera and does it make sense? https://www.amazon.com/TAMRON-5-50MM-Resolution-Aspherical-Vari-Focal/dp/B00119OLPE

    • Arkady Shapoval

This is a lens for cameras with a tiny matrix. For cameras with interchangeable lenses is not suitable.
