Here are interesting interviews with Arkady, where he tries to tell the interviewer about his philosophy of photography, about what is not important - what to shoot, that he is not a "Nikonist", etc. Looks nice. Arkady differs significantly for the better as a romantic photo, in contrast to these hucksters, who have only grandmothers and profits in their eyes (I will not make a link to an interview with one Kiev photographer, where he criticizes Arkady and his website for “unprofessionalism”) Many photo lovers have learned a lot of useful things on the Arcadia website.

Arkady! A question for you. And what, there will be no more reviews of the new mirror technology from NIKON? I would like to see reviews of D500, D5500, D5600, D7200, D7500, D810, D850 ...

  • Maria

    Good afternoon.
I recently had a momentous event in connection with which you may have to shelter the old grandfather Zenith. Grandfather was seriously interested in this business.
I understand that in the interests of Arkady the film does not fit very well, but maybe there will be those who want to write reviews or tips on working with the film? It would be very interesting to read.
I also understand that by searching you can now find the necessary blogs on almost any forum on photo-making, and nonetheless)

For some reason, it seemed interesting to introduce some existing catalog of all products of well-known companies and mark those for which Arcady and other users made reviews.

Good afternoon, Maria. Now on YouTube, a lot of copies are breaking down over film photography. Adepts broadcast about "lamp-like", some kind of special charm, the sound of the shutter and tactile sensations from touching film cameras. They like to speculate about what the film makes you think, check each frame, and so on and so forth. All this is nonsense. I recommend finding a video on this topic by Ivan Didenko on YouTube and watching. On my own I can add - if you want to record the mastery of film photography as your asset, go for it. But I predict - master it and you will not continue. So - for the sake of self-affirmation. I say this as someone who has been involved in photography since 1974. I would also advise, if you do, do not mess with a narrow film (frame size 24x36 mm, as on your Zenith). If you really want to get some advantages over digital, shoot in medium format (frame size 6x6 and more, see cameras - Kiev 88, Kiev 6C or 60, Amateur 166, or any foreign counterparts that can now be bought inexpensively).

As a person who filmed on film, I can say that she disciplines - you can't click a lot of Fujichrome Velvia / Provia or Kodak Ectacrome or Ektar videos - you just jump out of your pants.
Some films like Kodak Aerochrome / Aerocolor produce interesting colors. Yes, even the cheesy Kodak Gold gives pleasant colors, which many call unnatural, but ordinary people really like them.

        • Maria

          Thank you)

        • Sergos

    • Michael

There are not many tips. You can read the Adams trilogy, useful for general development.

Hello Maria! While it was possible to buy chemicals, I was engaged in b / w photography. Films Fomapan 400 and Svema 250 iso, showed 18 and 16 minutes in a developing solution: Metol 4,8 grams / Hydroquinone 4,8 g / Sodium sulfite anhydrous 105 g / Borax cris. 6 g / Potassium bromide crystalline 1,2 g / Water can be boiled, better distilled to 1 liter. Dilute 120 ml of the solution and 240 water before use (1 film 36 frames, and one for 12 frames or two for 24 frames) .Temperature
development 20'C. The simplest developer d23: Metol 7,5 g / Sodium sulfite anhydrous 100 g / Distilled water up to 1 liter, it is not necessary to dilute, the development time is 14-18 minutes, 20'for 8-20 films The solutions should be so_3-4 g Dissolve sodium sulfite in water 70'C, then Metol, Hydroquinone, borax, and the rest of the sulfite. Filter. During development, twist the spiral of the developing tank 3-4 times or move the film in the solution. After development, rinse with water for 17-22 ′ for a couple of minutes, unopening the tank and fix in a solution 170-350 grams of crystalline sodium thiosulfate per 1 liter for 14-20 minutes (for 8 f / films), temperature 18-20 '. Rinsing for 40 minutes under running water 12-20' Drying on a clothespin, 1- 2 hours. I also shot on films - Konica Monochrome400 and Kodak BW 400 monochrome, Kodak is expensive, professional, probably better in terms of photographic latitude and sharpness of all color ones and is scanned even in home scanners, but appears as color in laboratories (like Konica Monochrome). Max Kodak is the best option! Old Zenits are good No cameras. I shot 6 years on Zenit-E. And after the 90s Zenits are disgusting (I bought one at 97 meters inadvertently)

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Sasha and Maria !!! Photochemicals can still be bought today on special sites https://d-76.ru/ eg. Even the site is named after the famous developer D-76, which still develops imported black-and-white films. Further, according to your Sasha description of the development process. Water for solutions is only DISTILED, because none of you even imagine how disgusting your water is, even after boiling. After manifestation, DRAIN THE DEVELOPER INTO THE BANK. Then we rinse the film with RUNNING water WITHOUT OPENING the tank supplying water to the tank with a thin stream through the filler neck. Then we DRAIN THE WASHING WATER and fill in the fixative. After completing the fixing, we drain the fixer into our jar and open the tank, we begin to pour the flushing water in a thin continuous stream into the center of the film reel and slowly twist the film reel for the first 5 minutes and then periodically scroll it several times every 2 minutes. It was a rough wash. We drain the rinsing water from the tap, carefully shake out all the remaining water from the tank with the film reel in it and pour DISTILED WATER into the tank and spin the film reel in it for half a minute. This rinsing is clean and it washes off all the remnants of tap water with all its chemical impurities from the film. And now the film is being hung to dry. On the dried film after such a final rinsing, there will not be a single speck or plaque from those chemical impurities that are ALWAYS AVAILABLE in tap water !!! The film must be hung up to dry in a place where there is no wind, drafts, no one walks by, out of reach of pets, no sources of dust. HERE IS THAT Maria, the process of film development looks like the finest of the most scrupulous. You just wrote Dedushkin ZENIT. But there were a lot of ZENITS. They all had their own technical differences.

        • SashOK

Vitaly, I think that Maria has long since scored on “grandfather's Zenith” and for filming ...
This happens with girls, it caught fire for a couple of days, I saw that there were many difficulties and then took pictures on the phone.
She probably doesn't even know where the film is being charged to that Zenith, and you tell her about chemistry, development, some kind of tanks.

          • B. R. P.

No, she doesn't have a phone, she has a D800.

        • Sergos

  • koba

a strange thing - Fujifilm mirrorless cameras are very popular in the world, very good cameras with excellent optics, and no one provided Arkady even one such camera for review. Maybe the fact is that they are relatively expensive, even in the secondary market, and so far people here cannot reach them for reasonable money. The company has already released a whole range and generations of cameras and they are already everywhere ...

    • Valery A.

One such camera was (not provided, but) surveyed - X-T10, and in two articles there are two authors. See Reviews from Radozhiva's readers.

  • Ilona

Hello, I am interested in night and especially portrait photography, I also want to try to make money with it. I can’t decide which camera and lens to choose, the budget is up to 30 thousand UAH.
There was little experience of using nikon d90 and nikon d7000 and also kenon eos1100. I know more or less about exposure settings. I don’t want to take the camera from hand, and I would like a more modern one. There is a lens from the old zenith - Helios 44-2.

    • Michael

Portrait-night photography?))) For portraits, better Canon, better FF type 6D. What is “night” photography is not very clear.

      • Ilona

Yes, it’s interesting to shoot people in the dark, at parties, in the light of neon.

        • Roman

For photography in clubs, a flash with a softbox or stripbox is usually used. Otherwise, there won't be enough light. In this case, the manual lens cannot be used, and it is quite stressful to shoot with one hand, and hold the softbox on a stick with the other. There is no third hand to turn the lens :)

    • Oleg

Well, how to say ... Canon or Nikon is not important, if you want to use manual optics, then the canon is better, there are more opportunities, if you shoot at night, then either Canon 6d (a fairly budget option) is the first version, it has better DD, or an inexpensive d750 Nikon's one with DD is even better, iso 6400 is not the limit for a photo on it and, in general, a pleasant device. Yes, and now it is inexpensive due to the release of 780

    • Oleg

For filming in clubs, your canon is enough and 50 1.8 + flash, as advised. In any case, you won't be able to shoot in series with a flash, and the rest is a matter of direct hands and good ideas.

  • Sergei

Dear Arkady, can we still expect a review of the new Nikon technology besides the Z50? Sincerely.

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Of course :)

  • Alexey

Arkady, very interested in your opinion on the Nikon Colpix P1000 camera
I shoot exclusively as an amateur for myself, mainly landscapes, the architecture of people
    Now nikon d7100 and f35, f17-70, f18-200 lenses
Tired of carrying a bunch of lenses

    • Eugene

In front of the D7000 I had a P100 (great-grandfather of P1000), but, in any case, I even think of an entry-level DSLR three heads above the ultrasound (as an option as a second camera, when there is no way to carry everything with myself.)

    • BB

Look for some mirrorless, from systems that have gone into oblivion (if you want cheaper). Recently I bought a Samsung NX-1000 + 20-50 for 2000 UAH + delivery in Ukraine (approximately $ 80), in excellent condition, fits in the pocket of a winter jacket (or a small handbag), APS-C matrix with all the attendant advantages. No matrix with a size of 1 / 1,7-1 / 2,3 does not reach the quality of APS-C (there are several compacts, I did not get it off the shelf for a long time)

    • BB

PS Looked at the price of P1000 ... Did they collapse from an oak tree? Who needs it for that kind of money? Even a 10-year-old DSLR will do this craft according to most parameters. If you want more compact - look at the mirror Olympus - one of the smallest DSLRs, and given the fact that the system is dead, BU is sold for ridiculous money.

    • Oleg

Put on 18-200 on the d7100, hold the aperture 2-3 stops and shoot only in jpeg. About the same sensations from 1000

      • Oleg

And if you are tired - but you need a large focal range, well, this is definitely not 1000, by itself it is quite large and heavy. Rather, take the Sony rx-1 in your case, but then you will have to get used to shooting at 35 mm. And for landscapes, tele range and super-wide are very often needed ...

  • Dmitriy

Good afternoon, please do a review on the sony a6000, an interesting camera, I would like to know its capabilities closer.

    • Andrei

      “On closer” ... TsPSh drives.

  • Sergei

In our stores appeared Nikon-3500. You do not plan to review it? Your negative analysis on the Nikon-3400 upset my purchase plans. So maybe 3500 is already normal?

  • Julia

    Hello, Arkady!
I want FF, I thought at first the mirrorless, I read it, heard a lot of advice, and my opinion changed to a DSLR.
Yesterday I almost bought Sony's Alpha 7 III and it's good that I didn't take it ... I looked at the review and many say it slows down when viewing images, it's very inconvenient during shooting.
I read about Nikon. I stopped at Nikon d700. I didn’t find information about image stabilization and it’s not there.
Canon initially did not consider it at all, he blushes, and after reading reviews of other cameras ... somewhere it gives purple, somewhere yellow.
I plan to shoot in photo studios and on the street — families, running fidget children, adults, portraits. Photo processing.
My wishes: image stabilization, autofocus, FF, (a SLR / mirrorless I can’t understand how critical this is for me, they say the mirrorless camera has not reached the level of DSLRs yet), a rotary screen (not very critical, but I would like to), a video finder (? ), I’m not chasing megapixels, so I realized that it’s not worth it (up to 30mp).
I want the camera to be obedient, not to slow down during operation, to give good quality pictures for processing and, in principle, a picture of good quality, so that no noise.
I plan to work on fixes, since the picture is better, and I have everything about everything about a maximum of $ 2500 including a memory card, lenses (for starters 35 and 50), add. charging, lens wipes)
I really want to hear your opinion !!
    Beginning photographer.

    • Arkady Shapoval

It's simple - at the moment, having accumulated all sorts of prejudices, the right choice does not exist.
Nikon / Canon SLRs have lens stabilization. Sony a7 iii is a good option, no idea what exactly you read. The same applies to “blushes”, etc. This is a rather amateurish misconception, especially when combined with “there will be photo processing”.
For work, balanced solutions are Canon 5D mark III, 6D Mark II, Canon RP, Nikon D750, Nikon D810, Nikon Z6, Sony a7 III, Sony a7s 2
And again - there is no correct option. Many thoughts in profile topics about Canon choice, Nikon and choice mirrorless system

    • Pokemon

      > "Yesterday I almost bought the Alpha 7 III Sony"
      > "I read about Nikon and stopped at Nikon d700"
      Eka is wearing you ...
An interesting topic for March 8 (Happy Holiday, Julia) right in the morning ..
      > "Canon initially did not consider it at all, he blushes"
For a long time, both Canon and Fuji have pretty good color profiles in their cameras.
Much depends on the post-processing, curvature and curvature of the photographer.
      > ”I plan to work on fixes, maybe the picture is better, and I have a maximum of $ 2500 for everything, including a memory card, lenses (35 and 50 to start with), add. charging, lens wipes) "
Will it be your first camera or is there any shooting experience already?

  • Gennady

Good day. In the family of 2 cameras are Canon 60d (the efs 18-135 lens that works poorly, something is shaking inside) and Nikon d90 (the afs nikkor 18-105 lens). And at the moment it’s in thought to sell them and buy one new one (? Which one), or sell one one (? Which one) and buy a lens on the other. We don’t deal with photos professionally, but there is a desire to sort it out. Tell me how to do it better. Or leave both? Get other lenses.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Decide what you like more, sell the other. Decide what is missing from the lenses (aperture, focal, macro?) Then it will be clearer. And so - it's just a Wishlist)

      • Gennady

All photos are cold both on one and the other.

      • Gennady

I like the canon more, but there, in any case, the lens is changed. Tell me then what lenses to purchase, preferably diverse. My wife tried to take pictures on 5d mark 3 really liked it, now we think whether our devices are out of date

        • Oleg

It makes sense to hold two cameras if both are actively used or if there is commerce, then the second is for safety net. If you need two devices, it’s probably more practical to have the same brand, then it’s easier with lenses and more familiar with settings. Write on a piece of paper what camera functions you definitely need (full frame or it doesn't matter if Nikon, is the “screwdriver” important, is the number of megapixels important, do you need video and in what resolution, do you need a rotating screen, do you need two cards memory, etc.), and then some options themselves will be eliminated. Remember that the Ferrari is a cool car, but if you have to plow, the tractor is better)

          • Ivan

Oleg, I think that Gennady just does not need two cameras, but only one and what you have listed does not make much sense to him at all, since he would like to “sort out” in principle.
But about the Ferrari and the tractor - this is symbolic, if you recall the story of Lamborghini, who owned various companies, including those producing tractors. He had several sports cars and was unhappy with the quality of the Ferrari. He decided to meet with Enzo Ferrari, and after a discussion with him, Enzo sent him to continue to engage in tractors, since he does not understand sports cars. This provoked Lamborghini to engage in the production of sports cars.

            • Gennady

I do not need 2 cameras, which one is better? And what lenses for him would be advised to take. Feels more familiar than canon 60d

              • Alexey

these cameras are about the same class. it is impossible to say unequivocally what is better and what is worse. the question is what, where and how to shoot, in what conditions. what kind of optics is needed for that. and how much does it cost for kenon and nikon.

              • Gennady

What lenses do you recommend for kenon?

              • Ivan

Gennady, it's hard to advise you anything. Judging by the latest posts, including Alexei's advice, you decided to leave Canon and buy a working lens for him instead of the faulty one. But if you look at D90 in conjunction with 18-105, which you also have, it turns out that, in principle, you don't need to change anything at all. The D90 is a fairly advanced and good camera. Talk about it being outdated refers to advanced photographers who have specific needs and this camera cannot satisfy them. If you read Arkady's review of this camera, as well as watch an additional recent video review, you will find out that the camera is very good. And not just for the amateur. In another article, Arkady mentioned that he uses it in commercial photography, along with cameras of a higher level, and the client does not distinguish in the final photographs which camera was taken. Even using your existing 18-105 lens, you can achieve amazing results in amateur photography. Do not think that if you change the camera or lens, you will immediately get masterpieces. Master what you have. And if you raise your level, then you yourself can then understand what kind of photographic equipment you need, without asking anyone for advice.

              • Ivan

If, nevertheless, we are talking about extending the life of 60D, then you can send your lens for repair, or buy a similar one from your hands (which is unsafe), or buy a new one (18-135 is a good all-rounder for amateurish tasks), or look in the direction of faster zooms. but this is a different price category. The choice is yours.

              • Gennady

                Thank you.

              • Arkady Shapoval

In general, 60D is better. On lenses, they usually recommend a high-speed wagon represented by Sigma 17-50 / 2.8 OS, Tamron 17-50 / VC (these are super-common running lenses) and for the soul a telephoto, any, for example, native 55-250 (any version). That’s enough for everything. But still, I recommend changing something if there is a definite need (lack of working ISO, rate of fire, control, etc.)

              • Gennady

                Thank you

    • Alexey

both are good cameras, each in its own class. on any of them, with good optics, light and experience, you can shoot almost anything. and with wonderful color. I shot them myself, there were no problems. the only problem with the D90 is that the gear on the shaft of the shutter and mirror drive motor is cracking from time to time. but it can be replaced and removed further. the shutter fails, on both of these cameras, very rarely. in general, any canon is convenient in that a large number of the most diverse old manual optics can be installed on it. with Nikon in this regard, everything is much more complicated.

      • Gennady

        Thank you.

    Hello!
Can you please tell whether the Canon EOS 700D and the Canon EF 70-300 f / 4-6,5 IS II USM lens will combine and function in a good quality.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Everything is fine ... But I haven't found any reviews on the Kenon 77d, 80d, and 88d ...

Tell me please, maybe they are all like that and I'm not looking there

The Japanese company Olympus, after the sale of its photo division (the buyer is JIP) and the formation of final agreements, officially released a statement in which it announced the closure of some of the official service centers in Japan. The closure affected service centers in cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo. Exactly half of the service centers in these cities will be closed.
    https://photar.ru/olympus-zakryvayut-polovinu-servisnyx-centrov-v-yaponii/
Well, that's what I said. What falls into the clutches of this JIP office - turns into a shnyaga.
Olympus is about to go. Now the main thing is to have time to pick up their engineers when they run.
This will be useful for Panasonic and Nikon and Canon. MB will learn something good.

First of all, thanks to Arkady for such a wonderful resource!
Finally, I was able to get sharp pictures with good DD from Pentax k20d, (end of 2020 !!!) and was surprised to find that Arkady did not have a view of this unit (correct if wrong).
    I want to fix it a little….
K20d, in my opinion, is one of the most underestimated cameras of all time :). True, Pentax itself is to blame for this. The first thing you read about the k20d is the small DD. But when I bought it on eBay in 2019, for $ 150, DD wasn't the biggest problem. On firmware 1.0.1. with which he came, it was problematic to get a sharp, focused picture and DD, against the background of soap, he did not bother me much. Neither disabling stabilization nor adjusting the lenses helped. But after digging through the Pentax / Ricoh archives, I downloaded and installed firmware 1.0.4. and lo and behold! sharpness appeared. True, for one of the lenses I had to set +10 (adjustment range -10 ... + 10). Left DD. The shadows were still very bad. Even DRange 200% didn't help much. And I decided to turn the contrast to a minimum. And oops!

Hello everyone in 2021! I ask the author of the site or readers to add reviews on the Canon 250d and fujifilm xt 20 and fujifilm xe 2s. Their possible analogues. The goal is to have one camera, not heavy, suitable for photography and normal video! For the enthusiastic non-professional with a small budget, who has shot only with Canon 350d before, shooting with 50d! Thank you!

    • Rodion

Well, here you do not need to do a review in that case to buy 200-250d. And a pancake 24 / 2.8 stm.

    • Victor

But I would choose in your place (based on the original) - x-e2 (only without S) and 18-55 lens. A great option.

  • Hadzek

For a long time I have been looking towards Nikon850, there were not very many used when I was looking for Avito, but now, let's face it, there is a sea of them .. I also hear not always good reviews, it is alarming that there is too much marriage in the devices .. Arkady, you can how can I comment on this? For me, the price is too big, more than 100 thousand, but I really like the picture of 850.

    • Maksim

And what kind of marriage does the D850 have? Just wondering. I am the owner of the second 850th and I don’t know anything about any marriages, and my colleagues in the shop didn’t say a word about it either.
Of course, a secondary camera is a lottery and often a win-win because each camera is the result of a diagnosis from the previous owner. Someone at least once a year serves the equipment according to the NPS program, and someone does not even know that sometimes it would be good to clean the matrix, not to mention lubrication, etc.
If you know why you need a camera and understand what it is for, take it! You will not regret a minute.
I switched to 850 from 810 and believe me, there is a difference!

    Hello!
Can I learn more about the Sony ILCE 6600B?
    There are only 6500 ...

    • twm

Sony's top crop (APS-C) camera, the successor to the a6500. On Sony's website, you can find a similar specification for both.

Even though I didn’t hold the a6600 in my hands, I’ll say that the cameras are very similar. The a6600 has a more advanced eye autofocus (including in the video). To what extent it is noticeable in reality - you need to look for tests.

PS a6600 or a6500 - To unleash the capabilities of any camera, be prepared to pay first for the optics.

  • Novel

Please advise whether it is worth taking a used one. D3100, mileage 12 thousand, good condition, for mastering a photo or is it too outdated model?

    • Ivan

A good model for mastering photography. The main thing is to be serviceable.

    • Victor

      Depends on the price.
If there are up to five thousand - you can. Otherwise, there are more interesting models.

  • Michael

Hello, I am a beginner in photography, I would like to buy myself a good device, as much as possible, with a budget of 8 thousand hryvnia.
I do not want to consider cameras for beginners, as I want to immediately learn from something more or less for advanced ones.
    Recommend Canon or Nikon camera

    • Seladir

Canon 60D, you can take it with a lens.

    • Victor

It is difficult to advise something without knowing preferences))

8k hryvnia is somewhere around 20k rubles? There is plenty of choice.

I would take something like nikon d80 (picture fire, usability at the level) and a better lens, some 16-85 or sigma 17-50.

It will definitely be better than the average canon / nikon with an initial 18-55 / 18-135.

      • Michael

And if you dig a little and take a nikon 7100? Heard a lot of good things about him

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Nikon D7000 / 7100 used Canon 7D / 70D used

      • Michael

And if you take d7100, then up to what distance? Just meet 100 to 150 thousand

        • Victor

          Obviously, less is more.

          • Michael

I mean, is it not too high a mileage of 100-150, or you can still take these?

            • Victor

              Yes, frankly, too big.

    • Andrei

You need to immediately look towards the mirrorless.

  • Anatoly

Hello. Tell me please! I bought Samsung NX1100. Can you make friends with old manual lenses like Helios 44? I'm waiting for the M42-NX adapter.

    • B. R. P.

And why can't you, since there is an adapter.

      • Anatoly

I'm still waiting for the adapter. And it's not like a chip. And without a lens, the carcass does not want to take a picture in any mode! All settings about climbing did not find switching to a regular lens like on the Sony NEX3.

        • Victor

Don't fuss ahead of time :)

An adapter will arrive - everything should work.

Samsung has a sensor under the bayonet, a button like this. Put the lens (or adapter) - the button is pressed - the camera thinks that everything is in order and you can shoot.

          • Anatoly

Victor thanks for the advice! I also read somewhere about the button. Let's wait for the adapter))))

            • Anatoly

Thanks for the help! Just now I received an adapter! Everything works! I will try the camera! Got almost nothing. Should the quality be better than Sony NEX?

              • Victor

                Yes, about one fig)

And the old nexes and samsungs are now giving away almost for nothing, yes. Well, under Samsung (as a dead system), you can unearth inexpensive high-quality autofocus optics, but as I understand it, you are not too interested in this.

              • Anatoly

Yes. I'm a fan of old lenses;)))

  • Vadim

Please tell me SONY a7SII, is it suitable for a family, is it outdated, do they offer a new one for $ 1000?

    • Arkady Shapoval

great camera, outdated but good enough

  • Vadim

I also think to take a Sony FE 4–5.6 / 28–60 lens to it, or can you advise some other one?
