Comments: 10, on the topic: Announcement: Sigma 15mm 1:1.4 DG DN A Fisheye

  • Konstantin

But why am I cheating 1.4?

    • Arkady Shapoval

obviously - astrophoto (for this purpose and the possibility of heating on cold nights)

      • Konstantin

No one in their right mind takes astrophotography outdoors, and the weight of the lens significantly limits the use of lightweight equatorial mounts.

        • Arkady Shapoval

If there is a reference to common sense, then
          1. some people still shoot (remember how everyone rejoiced at the release of the mirror Sigma 20 1,4 in the days of the old Nikon D800, then combined photographs of the Milky Way using this combination and an open aperture were very popular)
          2. when covered, it will/can be significantly better than other similar lenses. For example, at 2.8 he will be better than fish, who already has 2.8 and has the most open one there
          3. focusing is simplified/improved (more light is better, especially for beginners)
          4. those who are seriously involved in this have decent heads and mounts, and 1360 grams is quite a normal weight
          5. This has never happened before, I wonder if handy photographers will be able to appreciate and apply the new luxurious capabilities of new photographic equipment? Often, when a new lens comes out with new capabilities (a combination of aperture and focal length), adherents of the old school begin to grumble. The first thing that comes to mind from the latter is Kenon 28-70/2 (which became super-successful) and Kenon 800/11 (which turned out to be significantly better than expected)

  • Konstantin

Lightweight lenses for lightweight mirrorless cameras! Bravo, Sigma! We fell a little short of 1,5 kg...

    • Arkady Shapoval

Where did they position mirrorless camera lenses to be lightweight? This expression only applies to some models.

      • Vladimir

Well, you must agree that the advertising of the mirrorless camera was carried out under the slogan “smaller, simpler and therefore lighter.” Of course, sensible people understand that advertising and reality are two very different things.

        • Arkady Shapoval

Perhaps it was for some crops. But this is more legend than truth

    • 3ghz-home

Is the DSLR version lighter? Where can I read about it?

      • Arkady Shapoval

The Sigma 15/1.4 FISHEYE lens for SLR cameras does not exist and will not exist.
Regarding the weight – approximate, “similar” Sigma 14mm 1: 1.8 DG A for SLR cameras it weighs just a little less.
