Comments: 11, on the topic: Review of Olympus OM-System G.Zuiko Auto-S 1:1.4 f=50mm

  • i is glorious

According to the picture, it looks like an ordinary half-length. If we take enlightenment out of the equation, then some Minolta AF 50/1,4 or Nikkor AF 50/1,4 D or, for example, a Pentax A 50/1,2 produces plus or minus the same picture. Canon EF 50/1,4, in my opinion, is even better, and Minolta Rokkor 58/1,4 is even better.

    • Arkady Shapoval

They are all + - the same thing, all 7/6. As for me, the Rokkors 58/1,4 are tougher (they are 7/5)

      • Rodion

        Rokkor 6/4.

        • Arkady Shapoval

          Maybe 6/5?

          • Rodion

Exactly) The main thing is that it is 58 mm and that it has a regular rear group of lenses, not an expanded one.

      • i is glorious

Yes, yes, I changed my mind

      • i is glorious

Yes, I changed my opinion on Rokkor. For some reason, it seemed that his bokeh was more uniform and softer over the area - the examples from the crop stuck in my memory, apparently.

Ps I didn’t complete the previous message, sorry.

        • Rodion

I now have a Rokkor 58 1.4 in my hands, I gave it an even diaphragm and put it in another helicoid, with small MDF. In general, only the optics “as is” remained. The lens is generally interesting, with a lot of character. It behaves perfectly: when the situation is monotonous, the bokeh is bright and juicy and goes very well with the theme. A good lens for taking photos in random rooms. At medium distances with a variegated background such as foliage, it may be too tacky, of course, but that’s a matter of taste and color. I really like the results so far. I’ve wanted this lens for almost 10 years, but only now took it when I realized for sure that I could cut it down the way I needed.

Oh, I recently bought my own third version of 50 1.4 with MC in the name. And this copy, with a glance, is focused on the same number and the damage to the sphere of enlightenment (there is one here, except from the MS and the remaining versions of the rich sphere of enlightenment). Their optical design had not changed before, and even if the changes did not flow into the picture, except for the enlightenment, the lens hood can help in this subject. Having first learned that 50 1.4 is important, it is possible that the accident at Fukushima was recorded and the party with Tori is effectively experimental.
Thank you for looking at the wonderful virobus Olympus. It’s easy to focus on the 5D M2 through live view (also “Lushnikov’s dandelion” stuck to confirm focusing) garni photos, on the open screen there are a little bit of softness for a portrait - the same, z 2 - a razor). I drank on the new building from 2 to 4 inclusive.

  • Boris24

I accidentally picked it up at an auction and didn’t regret it, the sharpest one of all the vintage ones, there are test pictures in comparison with Takumar Minolta and Fujinon. Moreover, I specifically took the MS version, as it turned out in vain it is worse and on open software. For this reason, I ordered an adapter with a chip for Canon. I have the g.zuiko version, with a black frame, take it, you won’t regret it.

  • RCHH

Not all the versions have silver nose rings – only the early first and second versions. The following four are all black.
Radioactivity is also restricted to the first version (M-System and early OM releases) and is minor – far from excessive.
Use lens hoods to mitigate disadvantage 4.
Only the first two versions are single-coated. The other four are multi coated.
