Review PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC

PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC

PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC

In short

Please note that the lens PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC Available with different mounts. This review shows the version of RISESPRAY 35mm F/1.2 for mirrorless cameras Fujifilm x  with APS-C sensor. At the same time, PERGEAR 35mm 1: 1.2 DH.MC is also available with mounts Sony E [APS-C]Nikon Z [DX, APS-C] and Micro 4 / 3. Important: for Canon RF [RF-S, APS-C],  Canon EF-M [EOS M, APS-C] and Leica l [T/TL, APS-C] no modifications.

PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC is a classic modern fast lens with manual focus and manual iris control for cropped mirrorless cameras of popular systems. Announced in August 2020... Enough low price. In general, an interesting lens with an aperture of F / 1.2.

It's important: light transmission of PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC is noticeably lower than T/1.2 and is at the level of T/1.6. Many Chinese inexpensive lenses at the maximum aperture have significant differences in F-stops and T-stops.

Most likely on the same optical scheme 6/5 (about this) built lenses 7Artisans II 35 / 1.2 и RISESPRAY 35mm f / 1.2. In general, I recommend looking at a more balanced solution in the face of 7Artisans 35 / 1.4, with a more complex optical design and better optical performance.

Sample Photos

All photos in the review are shown without processing. Fujifilm X-A1 camera (model range 2013-2015, 16 MP APS-C CMOS sensor) was used. All photos are JPEG taken in camera. Photos for review prepared Lynx George.

Main advantages

  1. low price, which is at the level 90 dollars (for example, the original Fujinon 35/1.4 costs about $600)
  2. there are modifications for some modern popular mounts / systems: Sony E, Fujifilm xNikon Z и Micro 4 / 3
  3. low weight, which is only about 230 grams (weight slightly depends on the mount used)
  4. compact dimensions, filter size 43 mm (metal thread for the filter)
  5. there is a hood included in the delivery
  6. good combination of focal length and aperture. On cropped mirrorless cameras, this focal length is convenient for everyday shooting.
  7. Optical design is optimized for mirrorless cameras with a short working distance
  8. good build quality: lens body completely made of metal, front cap with latches
  9. nice fabric case included
  10. very smooth focus ring, pleasant to handle, rotates approximately 110 degrees
  11. the minimum focusing distance is only 25 cm (for example, 7Artisans II 35 / 1.2 - 35 cm)
  12. during focusing, the filter thread does not rotate
  13. aperture ring rotates smoothly, without clicks and fixed values (useful for video shooting)
  14. there is a depth of field scale and focusing distances in meters and feet
  15. multi-illuminated optics
  16. ten aperture blades, which give a fairly rounded hole on covered apertures (example on f / 2.8)
  17. in the center of the frame at F / 1.2, the lens has a good resolution, while the corners and edges of the image are at an acceptable level

The main disadvantages

  1. no lens version under Canon RF/RF-SCanon EF-M и Leica l
  2. light transmission at F / 1.2 is at the level of T / 1.6, which is more typical for lenses with F / 1.4
  3. tight aperture control ring
  4. all other lenses from Pergear use 'HD.MC/HD.FMC' in their name rather than 'DH.MC', which stands for High Definition Fully Multi Coating. Typo?
  5. no microprocessor contacts to form the correct EXIF and automatic aperture control (for example, some 'manual' Chinese lenses from laowa)
  6. front cover without lens name (no-name cover)
  7. no auto focus support (for example, an inexpensive Chinese lens has TTArtisan 27/2.8AF)
  8. during focusing, the entire lens block moves, the lens trunk moves forward (but does not rotate), there is no focus optimization based on floating elements to achieve good optical performance at any focusing distance.
  9. the manufacturer does not publish the drawing of the optical scheme and the MTF graph, which does not inspire too much confidence.
  10. there is no aperture mark for F / 11, while the value for F / 11 is present on the depth of field scale
  11. aperture value scale is inaccurate, conditional
  12. the focus ring has a small 'overrun of infinity', which does not allow you to quickly and easily, in one movement, focus 'to infinity'
  13. there is no lens profile for popular RAW converters, which does not allow you to easily and easily correct some optical lens flaws, such as distortion and vignetting (you can create a profile yourself)
  14. The software of modern cameras does not have the data to automatically correct some of the optical imperfections of the lens, such as distortion and vignetting, for example.
  15. on contrasting elements of the frame are strongly manifested chromatic aberration
  16. strong glare / halos are possible in strong backlight and side light (example)
  17. noticeable effect of Focus Breathing, the viewing angle decreases during focusing towards the MDF
  18. small barrel distortion

Absolutely all lenses from Pergear can see the list on Radozhiv here. PERGEAR 35mm 1:1.2 DH.MC can be easily found on
