Comments: 13, on the topic: Announcement: Canon EOS R6 MARK II

  • Dmitry Kostin

Quickly updated - R6 recently released.
The matrix here from R3 is interesting ..

    • Sandro

Not from R3 - no layers and no backlight.

      • Dmitry Kostin

Yes you are right. Thank you for your vigilance.
“The headline new feature of the R6 II is a new 24.2MP full-frame sensor, up from 20MP in the original R6. That's not a massive increase in effective resolution, but it does allow the R6 II to match the resolution of many popular enthusiast cameras.
As is typical for EOS bodies, the new sensor is designed and manufactured by Canon. However, despite being the same size and resolution as the sensor in Canon's current flagship, the R3, it's neither a BSI nor a stacked sensor.”

  • Michael

The camera is good, but the main problem is in a closed system. As long as you can hang only native, super-expensive lenses, canon will, to put it mildly, not be the most profitable solution.

  • Dmitry Kostin

A big plus of this system is that you can hang something like ancient EF glasses through an adapter.

    • Alexander

Ancient EF glasses can be hung on any mirrorless system - Sony, Nikon, Panasonic. So that's a plus.

      • Dmitry Kostin

On Nikon Z, you can also hang 28-105 / 3.5-4.5D.
But AF won't work, just like on other AF-Ds.
The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM or Canon EF 28-135/3.5-5.6 IS USM will work fine even on the R5. So that's quite a plus, yes.

        • Alexander

No need to distort. I wrote about the use of junk Canon EF on mirrorless systems. So Canon EF 28-105mm f / 3.5-4.5 II USM or Canon EF 28-135 / 3.5-5.6 IS USM will work smoothly on Nikon Z through the appropriate adapter (Viltrox EF-Z for example). So not a plus at all, yes.

          • Dmitry Kostin

And on Z everything will also work correctly as on the R mount? And on all glasses?
A big plus of the Canon ecosystem is that you can hang any ancient native EF lens, I actually had that in mind.
The fact that the same Nikon is not entirely true is their problems, and the problems of their owners.
So for Canon owners, this is a plus - they bought R6 or R6mk2 and you can use old glasses for them for the first time. The fact that the owners of Sony (since the A7) or Nikon (as you say) hang Canon lenses on their cameras speaks of some problems with these systems.

            • Alexander

Whether everything will work correctly on Z should be checked empirically.
Personally, my subjective and untested opinion is that the adapter is a source of potential problems. Additional articulation does not add reliability. Recontouring the first time before buying native glasses is yes, an option. Rarely using something unique is also an option. Counting on uninterrupted constant work for many years is not an option. And here we come to the first post - Canon R has expensive native optics and a proprietary mount. And the ability to hang the lens from the EF system is not at all a plus of the system, but a crutch for a while.

              • Dmitry Kostin

I agree with you about adapters.
Unfortunately, the cost of native lenses for the Z mount and for the Sonyevsky E (g master) is also quite high.

  • Ivan

    Hot shoe like R3.
And in the depths, there are many contacts like the Sony E system.
Interestingly, accessories for such a hot shoe using these additional contacts have already appeared? And how Canon got around the limitations that Sony faced (the plastic base of the hot shoe on the flash side).

    Offtop.
I liked the 13th point of the main properties. Reminded. Nokia, richly colored.

The list of all RF cameras does not include two cameras R7 and R10
