I take pictures of everything as an amateur + family pictures and travel. The first camera was Nikon D5100 + 50m / 1,8, well, a whale, I bought a camera at the start, used it for 8 years and would not change it, but I didn’t want to carry a video camera with me, but the D5100 is not suitable for video. As a result, I switched to the Panasonic GX80 - there is excellent 4K with a stabilizer and +/- the same photo quality as on the D5100. I'm not sure that I will have the next camera, now I'm not satisfied with the quality of the smartphone photo, but I already clicked photos and videos on Pixel 6 from a friend - the result impressed me. When such a quality of smartphone cameras from the top segment goes into the middle segment, Nikonists / Kenonists and others will be an endangered species among amateurs, only those who earn money from this will remain.

“only those who earn it will remain”
      Not necessarily absolutely.
There will still be those who have this hobby, collectors, etc.
I have little idea of the phrase “the quality of smartphone cameras from the top segment will move to the average”
      Nobody will engage in altruism.
At the moment, you can go to the store and buy an iPhone 13 at the price of a used Nikon 28-70 / 2.8 + Nikon 35-70 / 2.8D from a trusted seller without mushrooms and other horrors. Do I need an iPhone 13 for the price of these lenses in excellent condition? No.
I was in Cuba in February of this year and once again realized that one device cannot replace EVERYTHING: a push-button Nokia that lives on a single charge for a week, a smartphone that catches 4G / LTE + GPS in Cuba and does not require frequent charging, DJI Pocket 2, a full-frame camera with AF confidently hitting the target from the second or third time, at least in the complete darkness of the streets of Havana at night.

I also tried to be impressed with the result from Pixel number 6, but if you look meticulously, phones are still very, very far from even crop-format cameras.

For people who are unpretentious about the quality of the photo - yes, it may well replace the camera (with well-known reservations in the form of the inaccessibility of some subjects in principle)

      • Victor

In order not to be unfounded, I will attach fragments of a couple of photographs (of the same scale, of course), one from the 6 Pixel 2022 phone, the second from the 16MP Sony crop camera of 2012.

I will not comment in any way, everyone will draw their own conclusions.

so who argues that the photo from the camera will always be technically due to the physical dimensions of the matrix and optics. I just looked at my photo archive for the past year and I already have half of the photos from my smartphone, but they are worse, but smart is always at hand, a bad photo is better than none. Yes, when I travel or go to events, I always take a camera, but every time I take a camera for a walk with a child, but there are just cool moments that I want to capture.

          • Victor

I don’t argue, the photo-video archive from the phone is stored at the very place when the camera was not at hand))) But this is more an exception - if it is possible to take a camera and shoot with it, naturally, I will prefer it to my phone

Nikonists just realize over time that nikon sucks and move on to other systems, saying that they are out of them so as not to offend their old friends.

    Joke.

      Bearded.)

professional reporter photographers use both Nikons and Kenons at the same time ... Kenons for photographing high-ranking physiognomies - Kenon's complexions always turned out more natural :-))) and general shots are shot with Nikon - white colors with shades of it are always the best with Nikon :-))

    • B. R. P.

In the report on the fic on color and shades) But if necessary, there are people specially trained in processing.

      • Alexander Rifeev

in the sense of massaging the faces of VIPs before a photo session, so that they look better? ... this is a joke :-))) but if you shoot with both Nikon and Kenon, then you will understand what I mean :-)))

        • B. R. P.

Not only Nikon and Kenon. I understood what you mean. Professional reporters don't care about skintones. By the way, one Western photojournalist somehow showed Yeltsin how to smile, by almost a massage)

But I don’t have a smartphone or photos from it. I use an old push-button Samsung from the 00s. If something needs to be photographed quickly, for example, for an announcement on Avito, then I now have a handy D80 DSLR for this. Fuss a lot, but the pictures are more beautiful and you can once again practice the same macro ... heh))) Yesterday, Vega 11U had to cook up a couple of photos on this Nikon) Before him, I generally subjected Fuji S3 Pro to such barbaric exploitation, however, quite a bit. I don’t argue, it’s idiocy, but hands simply don’t reach the purchase of a normal smartphone all these years, and even a toad. And the smartphone that I had was terribly buggy, it pissed me off in the end for two years of using it and eventually broke down - I’m not going to get to the repair.
The 21st century is undoubtedly the century of progress and technology.

    • Alexander Rifeev

I took my best photo on a banal Samsung “soap box” shamefully missing the focus for the 2nd and 2nd time out of three :-)))), the colors, however, were bright ... I sold this miracle for 100 rubles ...

Amateur. I use the Nikon system, since the first SLR was Nikon, the lenses hold, but I don’t see the point, I don’t see anything to change even without monetary losses.
For myself, I found a balance with constrained means - this is:
    1. I think, like most phones in the $ 200-300 category. During the day, they take off quite norms.
    2. BZK fuji from 15-45, 50-230. For standards of quality and compactness.
    3. FF DSLR with budget light fixes for bokeh) and low light '
In total, for the money it comes out like a new top-end smart. But the photo opportunities are not comparable. For me, maximum efficiency.
But if there were extra money, I would take top-end smart and BZK FF.

    • Victor

The night photo capabilities of a $200..300 smart phone with the gcam application installed are VERY slightly different from the photo capabilities of top smart phones, verified.

For a bokeh and low light, it was enough to take a Chinese 1.2 manual on the bzk fuji and stop there :-)

      • Zhenya

It's interesting about the phone, you need to test it, thanks.
For a long time, ff fixes and projections have been wound up, it’s a pity to lose their potential with a crop. And yes, it is logical with fuji and 1.2.

    • Vlad

      >budgetary
      >light fix
      >on FF
      Choose two out of three

      • Victor

Three out of three for sure.

        50 1.8 any

      • Zhenya

        35 2.0 $150 relatively cheap
50mm is generally almost a gift)
Well, 85 dashes are also often sold inexpensively.
If you didn't mean 1.2-1.4 of course))
