    Micra is alive

  • DM

How much, how much? 2200? I pass

    • Ledogor

Fuck, me too. E-3 will be enough for me for a long time :))

    • Victor

It can be seen that they calculated with an eye to the pentax with their k3-3 - “are we any worse?”))

Although now the oligarchs will come and explain that this is not an expensive camera, it is the commentators who earn little))))

      • Joe

And what does “commentators earn little” have to do with it?
The commentators were really going to buy this OM-1, they were waiting for the start of its sales, but in the end they refused to buy it because of the high price?
For commentators, the budget for the purchase of cameras is determined by what - the purpose of using the camera, the cost and availability of analogues, cost recovery? ..
What other camera can you buy for $2200, for example, to shoot raw photos at 50 frames per second with autofocus and auto metering (or 120 frames without autofocus with preset exposure)? What other real-life interchangeable lens camera claims IP53 water and dust resistance, and not at the level of vague wording “weather sealed” with no performance guarantees?
Or do commentators just want whatever camera they see, regardless of the real need for it?
And are commentators well aware of the cost of developing and manufacturing modern cameras, and are they familiar with the basics of a market economy?

        • Victor

          >> And what's all this about...
The question is not for me, but for those who immediately recall the wealth of Anonymous, if Anonymous writes “the camera looks expensive”.

According to IP53, it’s funny, in any case, such a specification could be safely given to any modern protected camera “weather sealed”

        • Victor

          >>What other camera can you buy for $2200…

And here it all depends on the needs. If, for example, you really need 120fps (which I don’t just doubt, but I’m just sure that you don’t need them for nothing), then there are no alternatives, of course.

          • Zheka

This camera is not needed by ordinary amateurs who shoot the forest, trees, streets, windows, all this faceless monotonous "urban". Someone will buy it, someone is focused on micro 4/3.

            • Rostislav

And why do amateurs need a top professional camera? after the flagship there will be an analogue of the m5 for advanced amateurs, and then maybe a completely amateur m10. with broken functions. and will be significantly cheaper and now they will be focused on the mass user.

              • Trueash

                >>Why do amateurs need a top professional camera? - You will not believe! To take good pictures.
It is clear that it is not the camera that shoots, but the photographer, but this applies to both amateurs and professionals. Both amateur “urban” and kilometers of weddings, christenings and other “love stories” can be faceless and monotonous.

  • Sergei

Okay, that's pretty stupid. The whole main intrigue is whether it is possible to get enough detail out of the quad bayer sensor. I managed to open new equalities only in my native OM Workspace 2.0, but there the picture is rather plasticine, both from this one and from previous cameras, and it is impossible to assess how much the new sensor is worse or better. Rawtherapee does not open these files and it is not known when it will be able to open them.
If this feint with the ears really added 2 stops in terms of noise, then this actually brings the micra closer to the FF, with which she lost these same 2 stops historically. Plus, a slightly more fancy stub. So like wow. And there will be wow until sensors on the same principle appear in FF cameras. Although, in theory, I consider quad bayer to be a blasphemous technology that devours color resolution, even probably even more blasphemous than x-trans from fuja. But you have to look at what will happen in practice and what else they came up with with autofocus. Everything else looks pretty good. The design is unique, of course.

    • Dima

12 bits again .... Olik, is it so difficult to make 14 .... or is it not possible on such a matrix?

      • Sergei

It just doesn't make much sense. There is not enough information to store in 14 bits. 12 bit is optimal. For some FF and SF, there is a sense in 14 and 16 bits, but frankly, not every ff will scrape together 14 bits of data. If you normally expose 12 bits is enough. Yes, and 14-bit equalizations of the same Nikonov, too, if there are underexposed areas and you try to pull them, minced meat climbs out of the noise. For HDR scenes, it’s better to actually shoot with bracketing and expose everything normally than to pull from one frame. What is on ff with 14 bits, what is on the mic with 12, just on the mic a little earlier, the need for the second frame comes. On the other hand, the question is whether it is necessary to shoot these hdr scenes at all if they then need to be compressed somehow into 8-bit jpeg.

        • Dima

Yes, of course) it makes no sense) yeah .... purely technically, such a sensor will not work .... only 12 bits and that's it. as usual, low DD and plasticine .... everything is as usual with Olik ...

  • Zheka

I thought Olympus had already died, but it turns out they are bombed and alive

    • Oleg

It seems this is the last camera under the Olympus brand

  • Alex

From a practical point of view, what will its dynamic range be? It's easier to buy a D780 from Nikon

    • PhotoCat

      Absolutely agree

  • Sergio

The review lacks a top view photo. I don’t like to criticize, the device doesn’t seem to be bad, BUT ...: the system obviously doesn’t pull on the pros, or rather, it pulls only for the price. I looked at the characteristics on a similar camera Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II (it costs 2 bucks) of the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f2.0 lens, this is the only (under) wide, the results on DRL are not impressive at all, the soap is soapy. But for such a soap glass they ask for 68tyr ($0,9t)!!! In addition, OM-1 brought only 12-bit colors. Who needs these 148 frames per second, you make at least 1 masterpiece a day and you will be happy.
Conclusion: a children's camera in an expensive frame.
