Comments: 41, on the topic: Announcement: Sony a7 IV

  • Seladir

I decided for myself that the next camera would be something from the A7 series, the only question is what.
Here we have +500 dollars relative to the starting price of A73: /
It seems that it's time to look for the A7R3 in a light used one for the sake of an excellent multi-megapixel matrix and relatively up-to-date rest of the filling.

    • Someone

Bu a7r3 is still pricey. Still around $ 2500

      • Seladir

There are ads for ~ $ 1800, but in general we have too few of them to understand the guidelines.

        • Someone

In principle, the a7r2 is not very different and differs in terms of photo quality as far as I know. In terms of ergonomics, too.
And they sometimes flicker for 80 rubles. I'm still waiting for the price to fall even more

          • Seladir

For myself, I got the impression that if you shoot generally static scenes, then R2 and R3 are equal, excellent matrices with dual iso. And so, in the top three they added a joystick for AF and, in general, improved AF tracking. Frankly speaking, they are all uncomfortably expensive for me, so maybe a maximum of R2 and I’ll come if I get a good offer.

          • Seladir

By the way, given that the R2 also has a non-touch screen, the difference in the ergonomics of AF point selection becomes critical.

      • Nicholas

Price in Canadian dollars. Equal to USD 1,530.05

        • Victor

What is not immediately in Zimbabweans?)))

It is clear that I would like to buy such a camera at the start of sales for $ 1500usd, but no))

          • Nicholas

Victor, everything is simple, in Canadian, because I live here and this is a Canadian site.
I just wanted to show Seladir that the price of 1500 USD for a Sony A7-3 with a range of 5000 shots is real. If you live in Zimbabwe search local sites.

            • Victor

Did not enter the topic initially) I should have looked at the link.

        • Nicholas

and I am an inspector at a pawnshop, and A7 III is handed over to us for 800 ye with boxes, lenses, and other junk,
so, Nikolay, 800 ye is a reality even for a camera with a factory guarantee, only I don't live in Canada, and you are not a pawnshop worker ...

          • Nicholas

Hi namesake, I didn’t really understand this stuffing: “only I don’t live in Canada, and you are not a pawnshop worker…” ????
I do not think that the A7 III is rubbish, and I strongly doubt that you refuse it when accepting it for 800 US rubles.
Yes, I am a simple Canadian, with a SOVIET education as an electrical engineer. Not a photo professional, so - a la an amateur. And it is better to address your example about 800 ye to Seladir (or accept and give the person the address of your acceptance), because he doubted the prices of this camera.

  • Sergei

Sleepyheads are hostages of their greed. It all started with a cropped mount, in which they decided not to bother and fit a full-frame sensor, and why radically change the case when they can be stamped into dozens of model lines? All this wretchedness continues from series to series, unfortunately.

    • UstasFritZZZ

do you want different parrot bodies and perversion? buy Pentax and be happy

      • Sergei

you are probably not familiar with such a concept as ergonomics and design. Fuji, kenon and even nikon are much better.

        • Victor

In the sense of "even Nikon" ??? Nikon kagbe has top-end ergonomics, unlike Canon, I'm already silent about Fuja.

          • Andrei

Fuj is the top, not these axes from the last century :-)

            • Victor

I would have believed it if I hadn't dealt with хт1 and хе1))) Yes, these are also axes "from the last century", but I don't think that something has changed dramatically in Fuj)) In хе4, they cut out every grip at all, handsome ))

          • Jea reth

If you are accustomed to Nikon and the Canon seemed inconvenient to you, this does not mean that Nikon's ergonomics are better than Canon's ergonomics. I used both, and not amateur cameras. The cameras of these manufacturers of the same level of ergonomics are also at the same level - only the approach to the management and organization of this ergonomics is fundamentally different. Although the menus at canon, in my experience, are still simpler than those of nikon

            • Victor

These opinions are subjective (and not only mine, there were those who, being accustomed to Nikon, switched to Canon for various reasons, even after a decent time after that, they still remembered Nikon's ergonomics in good words), I see no reason for you to dispute it.

        • UstasFritZZZ

More than familiar, and I'm happy with the ergonomics of their full-frame cameras, just like the ergonomics of DSLRs. Maybe your hands are just crooked?

    • Sergei

Tamron placed 35-150 / 2-2.8 in the cropped mount

Sony's ergonomics are evolving, you just don't know. The A7SIII is much more comfortable than the Nikon Z6.

    • Seladir

I often come across this thesis about the bayonet in the meaning of "well, this is rubbish, the dormouse is doomed." But in fact, the system lives on and grows overgrown with interesting lenses from a bunch of manufacturers, everything is the same everywhere in terms of sharpness when comparing expensive with expensive and cheap with cheap.
The only thing is that there is not a single budget telephoto for FE, such as 70-300 4-5.6, and this is frustrating.

      • UstasFritZZZ

But what about Sigma 100-400? It is more than suitable in all respects, including the price.

        • Seladir

In principle, the native Sony 70-300 costs similar money there. Maybe I'm just naive and want a price tag of around $ 500 from a modern full-frame lens, and telephoto cameras don't seem to have such prices. Corrupted by the cheap and cool optics Canon 55-250 IS STM)

          • Sergei

            Tamron 70-300mm F / 4.5-6.3 Di III RXD Model A047 about $ 550

            • Seladir

Missed it, thanks. Judging by the review, it is even quite good on the A7R4 matrix, it is also weather-resistant, buzz!
Here is the puzzle, and in principle, you can sell mirror wealth and start with some used Sony, in practice, of course, I will still break.

              • Nicholas

Seladir, a little advice, if you decide to take Sonya A7 ″ ””, pay attention to the bayonet mount, or rather to its mount, it is plastic and flimsy there. Sonka's son A4rm7 (ILCE-7RM4) cracked it and the lenses began to slap. Thank God there was still a month of guarantee - they changed it without any questions (it looks like these are frequent cases). Good luck.

              • Seladir

Nikolay, as far as I know, only the very first Sony A7 has a plastic mount. An acquaintance just recently changed to a Chinese metal one, since the backlash began. And the fact that such a breakdown occurred on a fresh A7R4 is certainly unpleasant.

              • Victor

                A pebble in Sonya's garden.

There was absolutely plastic-plastic on the a7 and a7p, then the reliability of the bayonet is lame even on seemingly metal rings, it's sad.

              • Nicholas

Seladir, I'm not talking about the bayonet itself. It is metallic, and looks like the main picture in the review. No, I'm talking about fixing it. The visible part of it (attachment) is the button for installing / removing the lens and the contact part. Just to check slightly press this button or the bayonet itself when buying a used one.

              • Sergei

And I will sell Z6 and 6 lenses in order to exchange them for A7IV and Tamron 35-150 / 2-2.8)

              • Nicholas

Sergey, it's hard to say something, I think - everyone decides for himself. My son, a year and a half ago, switched from Fujika X-T2 to Sonya, got A7_RM4. At that time I had a Nikon D750 with very good optics (24-70 / 2.8E, 70-200 / 2.8E, 135/2 DC, 24 / 1.4G, 20 / 1.8G). But after pampering my son with Sonya, I decided - it's time. I couldn't get used to Sonya's interface. Cocoa is rare. Moved to Z7 II. Impression - as with, no, not with a Zaporozhets, but let's say from Mazda to Mercedes moved. And not because the D750 was bad, no, it's just clearly a different level of technology. I was late with the sale of the old system, I gave it back with huge losses. I especially felt sorry for the optician. But now I have no regrets.
But ... to be honest - both cameras Sony A7R4 and Nikon Z7 II are considered a la top. Sonka wins. For the sake of interest, my son and I compared them with the same Native lenses (I mean S line from Nikon and FE from Sony). 61 Mr and 45 Mr are clearly affected.
                Сравнивались:20/1.8, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8
Also a couple of lenses from Sony from which I went nuts FE 14 / 1.8 and 135 / 1.8.
Nikon doesn't even plan their counterparts. It's a shame.
You can read about Sony FE 1.8 / 14 GM here https://radojuva.com/2021/04/sony-fe-1-8-14-g-gm/#more-67911
There is a link with my son's story from the dpreview site ..

Okay, it turned out long. But what I wanted to say - if it were not for the moronic interface, with the same level of cameras, I would also have a crush on Sonya.

            • Arkady Shapoval

Tamron generally gave a good set for both amateurs with 28-200 / 2.8-5.6 and for pros in the face of 17-28, 28-75, 70-180 with F / 2.8

              • Seladir

By the way, I studied this Tamron 28-200, it looks like “one lens to rule everyone in a full frame, if you are an amateur”.
At 100mm, 4.5 aperture is still good depth of field control for portraits.

  • Victor

238 buffer, what kind of polishing should be done in order to rest against its limit ?? ®_®

    • Trueash

Polivalovo expands as the buffer expands. Just now I watched a certain photograph taking pictures of the spouses - they were running across the road. She did thirty frames in one run. And if she had this Sonya, she would do it :)

    • UstasFritZZZ

for wild weddings the most is that, then a couple of terabytes of photos will be sorted out for the sake of hundreds of frames

    • Sergei

But why polivalov, take some deshman SD card for delivery from the carcass and while something is written on it, the buffer will end ;-D

  • Vladimir

So and all the same? What to take? Panasonic s5
    Or sony a7 iv?
In terms of chips, weight and modes, Sonya's winners, as well as bitrates, and that both flashcards are UHC II. I also liked the focus breathing compensation (But only on native glasses, blzhad) and the manual mode, when there is an option to follow the colors that you have in focus.
But Panas decides with better battery life, ergonomics - better EVF and a screen (although marketers cut the All-I modes out of the camera cleanly and do not allow installing old batteries from gh5, although they are like two drops)
Actually, I'm considering options with a sigma 24-70 f2,8, but then Sonya looks more expensive. Plus Panas does not overheat for sure, and what about Sonya is not yet known.
Well, in terms of the photo part, 33MP looks preferable. Well, plus it is not known what will happen with the conclusion of Sony's h to the atomos. After all, on Panas it is almost 6k !!!

    • Maksim

If you are shooting where you do not need a cool autofocus, then you can get by with the S5.
