The main thing about the lens
The SIGMA ZOOM 100-300mm 1: 4.5-6.7 DL is well assembled. The focus and zoom ring are rubber coated. The lens turned out to be very compact. Auto focus speed is average. During focusing, the front lens rotates and moves forward / backward along with the thread for the front filter. Focus ring rotates 90 degrees. Focusing problems on the camera Nikon D700 not observed. Spontaneous lengthening of the frame does not occur.
At an open aperture, sharpness is weak and decreases with increasing focal length. When the aperture is closed, the sharpness is noticeably increased. Lens chromate perceptibly.
It's important: auto focus with this lens is available only when using him on cameras with built-in motor focusing.

Only auto focus and sound confirmation of focus will not work with these cameras, all other important functions, such as automatic exposure metering and automatic iris control, will work well.

Attention: the lens has a manual aperture ring. To be able to control the value aperture from camera or for automatic installation aperture on modern CZK, you need to turn the control ring to the value of F / 22 (the value is colored red) and fix it with a special lever, which is located to the right of the marks aperture. If this is not done, then on a number of cameras, the display will display an error - 'fEE' (ring is not installed aperture) Some cameras having diaphragm rheostatallow you to control the diaphragm with this ring aperturebut only in metering modes exposure 'M' and 'A'. The instructions for most Nikon cameras indicate the threshold for the maximum relative aperture of the lens with which correct auto focus will be available. Most Nikon cameras are designed for lenses only. no darker than f / 5.6. For example, camera Nikon D3200, D40, D70, D700 theoretically should not work correctly with this lens. But still, as my practice has shown, in conditions with good illumination there are no particular problems with autofocus, even on cameras that are not designed to work with lenses with F / 6.3-6.7. SIGMA ZOOM 100-300mm 1: 4.5-6.7 DL goes beyond F / 5.6 at a focal length of 220 mm, at this value the maximum relative aperture is already 1: 6.0.

Even the older 'large pixel' mammoth cameras, which usually handle low resolution lenses well, failed to work well with the SIGMA ZOOM 100-300mm 1: 4.5-6.7 DL.

Results
SIGMA ZOOM 100-300mm 1: 4.5-6.7 DL - lightweight, compact and cheap. Picture quality is generally poor. Perhaps the review was not the most successful specimen, which showed itself very mediocre at the far end (by 300 mm). In general, any old model Sigma / Quantaray 70-300 / 4-5.6 (the link has their entire lineup) will be preferable.

Based on my humble amateur experience, I can say that such, without exaggeration, a dark lens, and even without a stabilizer, it is just self-indulgence, pass by.
I believe that over 200mm, a stabilizer is required, otherwise lubrication cannot be avoided.
I had experience in using the canon 550d and sigma 70-300 without a stabilizer, I got rid of the lens and have no regrets. I learned the charms of the stabilizer on the lenses Canon 55-250 IS II, Canon 55-250 IS STM and Canon 70-300 IS USM (Best of all used).
I used a sigma 70-300 f / 4-5.6 with stabilizer and sold it too and did not regret it.
