Where are all these people who shouted “Olympus everything! 11” :-)

saving up money for a new Olympus Pen E-P7

  • Dmitry Kostin

Quote: “The Olympus E-P7 camera was developed by the previous owners of the Olympus brand. However, this is the first camera to be released by OM Digital Solutions. ”
The Olympus E-P7 camera will be sold at a retail price of 799 euros (70 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate).
€ 800 for a camera for Asian housewives with a minimum ISO 200 and 12 bit ras and a matrix the size of a woman's marigold.
    God help you!
I am subscribed to many channels on youtube and 500 people on flickr. For the second year now, I have noticed an outflow from the micro, both in video and in a photo to the new FF BZK Panasonic / Canon / Nikon / Sony.

    • Victor

Puchkovsky and Vanifatyev nervously smoke on the sidelines, terribly complexing about the "matrix with a woman's marigold", yes. Where are they)))

      • Dmitry Kostin

Do not care, even though Belomor let them drag on.

    • koba

You are not kidding about Asian housewives - there are hundreds of millions of them, and among them there are a huge number of women with wealth, especially in China. If the company aims at them, and if they manage to interest them (as for me, for this they have to build some ready-made presets for image and video processing into the camera), then they will get an excellent economic effect. But we will see this later. So far, some camera review sites have already “declared” this particular new Olympus “the most beautiful camera in the world”, they also started a similar company in China, and added a slogan like “do you want to get better photos and videos than your smartphone gives?” It is not surprising that every company in the market is trying to survive and promote its products. What's wrong with this lens? Why have other brands not offered anything of the kind before, and even in such a beautiful and reliable design, there is still a distance scale on it. And yet - I personally do not have Olympuses, but their last matrices work freely up to ISO1600, and this is actually enough for many jobs, especially for housewives. Do housewives in other countries have full-frame cameras around their necks? I can even guess where the price of this camera was determined from - $ 700 is a little less than 5000 yuan, and this in China (this is the most attractive market in Asia) is not money at all, 90% of those who want (if you make them interested!) Will not even buy it pondering. This camera does not have 14 bit rabbits, it is for target buyers and is useless, I assume that it will have excellent jpeg directly from the camera, which was top-quality in the old Olympus, and it will shoot good video easily and without much knowledge.

      • Victor

Uv. koba, you are probably familiar with concepts such as "kitchen policy" and "small complex"?

As for the lens, I'm sure everything will be fine with it, the micra has such a feeling that there are no frankly bad optics at all, there is nothing to say about the pro-series.

      • Dmitry Kostin

“Do housewives in other countries have full-frame cameras around their necks?”
Koba, I have been to Japan 6 times and there Micras are really common, especially among women.
Young people - mostly taking pictures on their phones. I saw this in the cherry blossom season and momiji (autumn maples). I noticed a tendency that every year the number of cameras became smaller, and iPhones (in Japan this is the most common smartphone that local Sharp and Fujitsu ate) more.
In the Russian Federation and Belarus, Panasonic and Olympus cameras are generally not visible on people. I saw Olympus last time at a retrofest with one of the owners of a Mercedes R107, this was an OM-D model and he did not shoot with it - the camera was like for the atmosphere. The beautiful half of humanity in the Russian Federation has mainly Canon crops, but Nikon also comes across. Those who are trying to make money from photography - full-frame Canon, also meet Nikon. UPC is still a rarity.
By the way, I was in Sapporo during the snow festival (Yuki Matsuri) and there were many Chinese (the festival roughly coincides with the Chinese New Year in terms of dates). And the Chinese had mostly a full frame on their necks (for some reason, Canon is very popular), and the phones were almost all iPhones, and not Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Huawei or others (this is amazing). I distinguish the speech of the Chinese from the Korean and the Japanese.

        • Aleksey68

but tell me, the Chinese were always spitting on the floor there too? It annoyed me so much in St. Petersburg when I was with my wife from the Hermitage. there is a crowd of Chinese, shouting something between themselves and spitting on the floor. since I do not know Chinese, I tried to reason with them in English, but they did not understand or pretended not to understand.

          • Dmitry Kostin

No, but they behaved worse than on the Old Arbat. In Japan, they behave like at home, push, get into the place that you want to be in the frame.
They can push the arm or touch the arm with the camera when you are photographing.
They have some kind of selfie disease - every 2-3rd has a stick with the latest iPhone. It so happens that one starts taking pictures, then shouts at someone and another 5-6 people will come running.
And you have to wait for them when they are knocked down. But their place can immediately come running as many more. Sometimes you stand, caught a good angle and maybe a Chinese man will sit on the side, who will either put his young lady in front of him, or will start to touch your elbow with his elbow. Gloom, in short. I almost smashed the D700's face on one.

            • Aleksey68

understand. I would also teach them a lesson, something heavy, but the trouble is that the numerical advantage is always on their side. As a bae we ussem soon did not have to learn Chinese.
you are probably aware that they have a map of China, on which the territory of Russian Siberia is designated as "the temporarily lost territory of China"

        • koba

That's exactly what I wrote about. How much does a company need to sell a particular model for it to be economically viable to produce it? Judging by the statistics (rough, of course), then somewhere from 20000, if 50000 is already normal. Nikon sold the most D700, and its circulation was more than half a million pieces, for example. So in Japan itself, the target audience is 10 million people, and in other Asian countries, even more. Looking at the exterior of this camera, doesn't it look like a piece of jewelry made of silver? So women will like it. The viewfinder of such an audience is not needed, everyone has long been accustomed to mobile phones, the main thing is that he shoots videos smoothly. The Asian market is significantly different from the rest, there is a huge number of people with wealth. Another point - almost everyone works here, has a steady income, and even people with a small income can buy goods with a two-year installment plan, especially in China, where bank interest rates are the lowest in the world. I myself often use it ... That is, it remains to create targeted products, which is what companies, and not only Olympus, do. Personally, I think that Olympus made a mistake in the production of cameras in the professional segment, and such cameras are just for nicknames.

      • Dmitry Kostin

        "What's wrong with this lens?"
I have no complaints about the lenses on the mic. I can't say anything, tk. I have not used them. I didn't have a micra, no, and won't.

        • Aleksey68

“- Tell me, Stirlitz, how do you feel about women?
          - I do not belong to them"

  • Aleksey68

I have a Fujinon zoom lens on my old camcorder, and then with aperture of 1.7, but that's not all ...

    • Victor

On the old camcorder, the matrix is probably not 4/3, right?)

      • Novel

        And the resolution is different.

      • Aleksey68

right, right, this is sony betacam sp, the best reportage camera (camera family) in the world.
