Comments: 71, on the topic: Prices for modern lenses Zenitar and Rubinar

  • UstasFritZZZ

The main thing is that the Chinese also do not get stuck and do not put similar price tags on their creations.

    • Arkady Shapoval

The Chinese have a completely different business model.

  • Victor

Manual 35/2 for 860 euros is of course zhosska.

Chinese? No, the Chinese are not so idiots and understand very well what needs to be done to be competitive.

    • Arkady Shapoval

By the way, I lamented on social networks that they could not even add a few photos of their appearance. And voila - today there are already new 35/2 photos along with a dirty euro https://zenit.shop/collections/sony-e-mount/products/zenitar-2-35-mm

      • Andrei

they showed that the color of the enlightenment is the color of the coin.

      • Victor

These guys can't even hire a normal photographer in order to decently shoot their own products))))

“And so it will do” in everything.

  • Konstantin

Well, either they really did something hard and consider these prices to be adequate, or they rely on inadequate for which “they did it with high quality in the USSR, for centuries” and who will buy it all out of nostalgia ...

    • Zheka

Did you shoot these lenses yourself, or did you read forums where people suffer from the inaccessibility of watering cans or nikon z9?

      • Michael

There is a review for the pre-production Rubinar. The fact that this is almost junk is already clear

    • Michael

More Western hipsters. "Look, Russian lens"

  • Alexey

I have already said that the manufacturer receives income from OTHER products. and this is so, to SHOW that they de have a citizen.
“Everything is not as it seems, everyone is not who they seem” (C)

    • Novel

Roughly the same is said about Roscosmos. And ... Well, about everything.

    • Ivan Shikhalev

Exactly. Moreover, the price is calculated according to complex schemes used for military products, and has nothing to do with the market. Well, taking into account the fact that all this is never a serial production, but piece work.

      • Arkady Shapoval

I’m wondering, name or show, what is the “complex scheme” that is “used for military products” is used in the same 35/2? Seriously?

I would understand, if they released something really optically complex, then it would be possible to assume that if there is something serious in "lenses", then what can be expected in real "military products". 80% of the entire assortment is old schemes (very, very old, like Helios-40, Rubinars, etc.). Several new ones - continuation and optimization of old schemes (50 / 0.95, 35 / 1.0). At the same time, they cannot even make MFT charts for them (apparently they do not want to spend money on a lab test).

This 35/2 is a 7/5 planar (one of the most primitive, however, the Chinese even make 35 / 1,4 on it). And the fact that a pre-serial copy was stolen from “near the military plant” immediately makes it clear about the approach, capabilities and goals.

        • Andrei

it meant a complex pricing scheme, not a complex optical scheme.

        • Victor

Yes, nothing was stolen there, it's just ridiculous)))

Quite a standard (not too honest, but who cares?) PR move to show “look, our optics are so cool that even in the form of pre-production samples from factories you can steal them”)))

I am surprised how they didn’t come up with the idea of faking the samples, but what? They would have shot the landscape on a 35 / 1.4 sigma with a covered one, and announced that “look how our thirty-five shoots with f / 2”)))

          • Arkady Shapoval

I don’t think if you follow the history, it’s clear what exactly was stolen for the sake of sale, and not PR

        • Ivan Shikhalev

The price calculation scheme, of course.

  • Novel

Radozhiva has lost her attractiveness and usefulness! If earlier you could read interesting articles here, learn something useful and even learn something from photography, now what is it? Articles with lenses at fantastic prices, which are not clear why are posted here! The vast majority will not buy this, and there is no point in buying at such a price. Absolutely unjustified price for a piece of glass (if glass!) And a bit of metal (or silumin!) !!! Or maybe there are no such products at all, but this was simply invented to fill the space with something that there is already nothing to fill?

    • Victor

You have plagiarism ears sticking out :-)

      • Novel

Bggg. And you must admit that this comment is much more suitable here than for Zeiss :)

        • Victor

Well, people at least take Zeiss for business)

    • Arkady Shapoval

The main thing is that you have already left more than 10 comments here in the last couple of days :)

      • Novel

Over the past 10 years I have left them under a thousand :)

        • Arkady Shapoval

Well, the usefulness of the resource is obvious :)

    • Zheka

I never understood crying about expensive glasses. If you can't afford this lens then you don't need it. Good optics cannot cost $ 190, this is the price of a whale lens, something like 3.5-5.6. And if you haven't tested this lens yourself, why do you have such reviews? You look at the prices of SL Series Mirrorless Showerhead Lenses, M Series, and get even more frustrated. Even if you are given such glasses, you will still not shoot top fashion advertising or a fine art print, there will still be flowers, cats, five-story houses, straight lines of streets, dawn sunsets, woods, the sky. All this can be spanked on the old nikon d300 and some ancient 28-70 afd and not spend money

      • Victor

I apologize, but with such a remark you are somewhat at the wrong place.

The point is that the KMZ has become obese, and they put price tags HIGHER than even their native AUTOFOCUS counterparts, I am already silent about all sorts of cool sigma 30 / 1.4, to which KMZ crafts are like cancer before the Moon.

        • Andrei

Let's say the price tag of non-native non-autofocus lenses can also be higher than native autofocus lenses. But these KMZ crafts in quality will definitely not be better than Chinese ones.

          • Victor

They are not that much better, they are much worse, judging by the samples of the “stolen” copy.

            • Andrei

              Nobody argues.

        • Zheka

These lenses are worth their money, there is no point in arguing with those who still shoot at grandfather's zenith

          • Rodion Eshmakov

No, not worth it. I know for sure that Jupiter-3 does not cost 50 tr, but costs 5-10 times less. And you will not convince me otherwise.

          • Victor

Zheka, re-login, only a marketer working at KMZ-Shvab could write this))

            • Arkady Shapoval

Fotar was reporting on a recent exhibition. Their chief 'marketer' came up with two gems:
              1) electromagnetic control of the diaphragm - this has never happened before! Everyone is delighted! (FROM)
              2) excellent camera - it costs 1.5 million rubles (C)

              • Andrei

                1,5 million of what?

              • Arkady Shapoval

                rubrey

      • Novel

BGg. I copied this comment from the Zeiss topic at 18K apiece. So, as paradoxical as it may be, this comment is completely inappropriate there and completely appropriate here. Especially in the part “Or maybe there are no such products at all, but this is just invented to fill the space that has nothing to fill with something?” That's right VERY :)

      • Hair dryer

And then what and who can afford it, if the conversation is about the discrepancy between the cost and the capabilities of the product?

  • Sergei

The current managers at KMZ / LZOS / SHVABE are looking back at the business model from their recent past.
When KMZ, by order of the Lomographic Society (Austria), made modern replicas of old, well-deserved lenses of German design. Plus their versions on the Petzval theme, etc.
And lomographers took over marketing and sales on themselves, and sold these very products in Western markets to vintage lovers at steep price tags.
    Niche photo business.
And now they quarreled with the lomographers, but the wish list of the big price tag remained. But no one wants to invest in marketing - they are thinking of cutting down sales according to old templates.
It is impossible to compete with China in the mass segment, so they are looking for their client in niche locations.

  • Sergei

    As an illustration
Concern Schwabe, as the latest achievements of its enterprises, announced the beginning of sales in Russia of a sight bracket for the well-known Mosin rifle, model 1891/1930.
    https://shvabe.com/press/news/v-rossii-startuyut-prodazhi-kronshteynov-shvabe-dlya-vintovki-mosina/

    • Victor

Amazing. Probably, the numerous owners of mosinki will be delighted, they waited, waited, and finally waited.

      • Alexander

The prices for lenses really do smell like idiocy. And the bracket for "Mosinka", more precisely, for the hunting carbine KO-44 is quite a topical thing. "Tiger", and even more so all sorts of "Remmington", etc. for many hunters and road shooters. And alteration of "Mosinok" from storage warehouses is successfully sold, even a modern plastic bed is made for it. Quite a decent budget bolt turns out, with good accuracy.

    • Novel

      KNOW SOMETHING!

  • Sergei

The first photos from Zenitar 35mm f2 appeared
    And even on Flickr
    https://photorumors.com/2020/07/04/new-zenit-lens-for-sony-e-mount-coming-soon-zenitar-35mm-f-2/
On a full hole, the edges are frankly weak.
But covered up to 6,8 is quite good.

    • Novel

For this money, you can take an autofocus Canon with a stub, which is amazing with an open one.

    • in

Photos from a year ago from a stolen sample. Kmz in its own style

    • Arkady Shapoval

I wonder which modern fixes on f8 are bad?
And the topic is old, for a year now there are examples, and before the announcement, because, as already indicated, the lens was stolen and sold on ebay. This situation, I am sure, gives an ideal performance for all optics.

      • Victor

Perhaps it was not stolen, but “stolen”?

Not a bad PR move, actually. Too bad it's pointless.

    • Victor

Hmm ... And they try to sell this stuff for 800+ euros. Boldly, very boldly.

  • Jea reth

    * Draws on cigarette and blows smoke from nostrils thoughtfully *
I remember that once I bought their “bullet” from KMZ - Zenitar-K2 2/50 - for the Pentax I had at that time. Moreover, in the section for selling optics under the price tag it was written that in the section of cameras you can buy the same lens with a camera for the same price, that is, get a Zenit-122K camera absolutely free. I saw no reason not to take advantage of such generosity, although the camera turned out to be defective in the end and only smashed the film.
This half I bought then with a whole (albeit not a working) camera for some two thousand rubles, nd ...

Such optics are needed for pampering for the most part. It is not used in the work. This is one extreme.
I have not met photographers, from commercial to photo artists, who really needed it.

True and razor-sharp, fanatical documentary sharpness, completely inappropriate in most photographs, is now intensively promoted in optics for the bzk. For example RF optics from Canon. A boring sonorous resonating pattern, similar to the same pinned one as in the Fujies. FOR inadequate money. This is the other extreme.

All the same, the golden mean lies in the proven proprietary optics for DSLRs, whatever one may say.

    • Novel

Unlike products from "secret military optics manufacturers", Canon, even with a greatly reduced EF line, still offers a huge number of old lenses with not so cool characteristics and new lenses with SUCH cool characteristics. And the huge and saturated secondary market allows you to buy these not such lenses at very reasonable prices. At the same time, they are not even like that and they shoot better than this one. That is, in theory, they should fall into the niche occupied by Leica, but somehow it turns out not very well. Lenses for sheikhs. What sheikhs, such are the lenses.

    • Rodion Eshmakov

In my opinion, they have a gorgeous 35/2. I'm not sure if anyone in their right mind would prefer Zenitar to him.

      • Arkady Shapoval

Who, in common sense, will take for work (just for work, not for collection) 35/2 with such an overpriced and such a 'convenient' control

        • Rodion

I think I need to write a note about their lenses. Since they themselves are clearly not going to give them for the test, we will manage with the available knowledge.

          • Arkady Shapoval

            great idea

    • Jea reth

      We arrived ...
That is, all our life we have been striving to make optics with good color rendering, the absence of any aberrations to a large extent, and the general high quality of the resulting image, so that even with a small format we can make solid magnifications, and now that we have it, it has become “completely inappropriate in most photos ”?!
Damn it, boring and resonant drawings in people! This is the problem - that is in photography!
The tsvetoor, retouching and any post-processing from some religious delusions have already been dishonored in the past. The advantages of digital technologies over analog ones are still kicked by everyone who dug up the zenith on the mezzanine and got the colorplus video. Now, as I see it, people have gotten to the blood and sweat of hard-won achievements in consumer optics ...
Sorry, ladies and gentlemen, for perhaps being overly emotional. It’s just that situations where “they can, but don’t want” instead of “they want, but cannot” catch on.

      • Alexey

and ya vot negodue, sho kodakhrom was removed from production and, moreover, there is not a single lab in the world where it could be shown, although it is still possible to buy a delay.
        "Let us be niprastim!"

        • Jea reth

Alas, I cannot share your indignation. I still haven't learned to be rude to my parents when this shop was closed. Therefore, I did not have time to check out such matters.
My opinion is pragmatic: you need to use a number for color. Let with all the buyers and other game. But in my experience, it is much easier to get the desired colors from the numbers. Especially - if you do not live in the capitals and local labs are accustomed to showing only colorplus to old women from soap dishes and cutting on DVDs.

        • Novel

There are tons of loot for every taste. Which, unlike a real film, giving this “film mood” can also be matched to the plot. Kodachrom does not fit - Velvia, a bunch of Kodaks, Fuji, and so on - hundreds of them.

          • Dmitry Kostin

"Kodachrom does not fit - Velvia, a bunch of Kodaks, Fuji and so on - hundreds of them."
99% is junk that has nothing to do with reality.
Something that works from similar loot is in the Fuji Big Factory.
But again, the color on the film depends on many factors:
            1) Lens (some enhance yellows, browns, or blues).
In addition to color, contrast is different on different lenses.
            2) The filter on the lens can also degrade contrast and give color distortion.
            3) The condition of the film (expiration, lying in the sun, or fresh from the refrigerator, another option - after the scanner at the airport)
            4) Camera exposure meter and how it works with the lens. With non-native lenses, some film cameras lie on exposure, but unlike numbers, you will find out after development.

            • Novel

You have described hundreds of types of reality. What kind of reality does the loot color have nothing to do with? And what, in this case, seduces the user of the film - the absolute randomness of the result?

              • Dmitry Kostin

Most of the ones I've seen.
Most of what I've seen is styling.
Sometimes good, more often bad, or rather fantasy. Those. If we conditionally take a CPC / UPC Nikon / Canon / any, and apply something called Kodak Gold200 or Kodak Portra 400, then with a probability of 90-99%, it will not fall into the color of the corresponding film.
Or, under certain weather and lighting conditions, it will be close, but not exactly.
Film - the variability of the result. Unfortunately, there are disappointing disappointments. You can buy 10 reels and it won't look like a color that was a year ago. And in addition to the options I have written, there may still be the likelihood of a jamb both during development and during scanning. For example, in the photolab Wednesday there are scanners Noritsu, Fujifilm and Nikon. And everyone on the same film will have a different color, or rather different - somewhere more yellow, somewhere red, and somewhere green rushing. Sometimes the difference is amazing.
I mean that pseudo-film beasts do not reflect the main thing - they do not always or never correspond to the name of the film. There are often jambs when scanning when different photo laboratories have different colors on the same scanners.

      • Arkady Shapoval

I also agree that people who write “too harsh”, “too technical” rarely shoot and never ask anything from them. Many have read old books in which “the lens should be soft for a woman’s portrait,” and so on.
And the secret is simple - creativity and good optics are different things.

        • Jea reth

It seems to me that the question is also whether a person prints pictures or not. You can enjoy your creations on the monitor for a long time, but a good printer in a decent lab or at home and the 30x45 format will put everything in its place vividly. And so, when you see the dregs, who and hellish chromaticism in the corners of the frame with an excellent landscape, then you will dramatically change your mind about the really necessary qualities of your optics.

        • Novel

A person who constantly shoots, on the one hand, understands WHAT he needs for his task, but on the other, if necessary, he will find a plot for what he has. Get out, come up with, use the restrictions to your advantage. This is creativity.

          • Arkady Shapoval

I'm talking about the same, and optics have nothing to do with it

  • Alexey

Prices are indicated in € - something planned ...

    • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, nothing is planned, this is a site for the European market. If it were in dollars, then the price tags would hurt the eye even more.

    • A.

Yes, nothing is planned, for example, prices in rubles.
      https://www.zenit.photo/catalog/obektivy/

It's just that the author, in addition to surzhik, habitually uses prices in foreign currency.

As for the prices - well, the more mass production, the lower the prices. Taking into account the circulation of these lenses, this is also at a loss, most likely. In any case, these will be problems of the manufacturer, not the buyer - there is a choice.
