Not a bad macro for this lens

  • Alexander Rifeev

1200 tired raccoons for this mediocrity? :-)))

I believe that in the countries where expensive cameras and optics are most sold (rotting west, for example), these 1300 greens are not such a big price tag as for the CIS countries.

    • Seladir

It is made according to the standards of Canon L-ek. Here is the analogue itself even more expensive:
      https://www.imaging-resource.com/lenses/canon/ef-70-300mm-f4-5.6l-is-usm/review/

      • Arkady Shapoval

Not quite analog, as it is mirrored.
Of the existing similar mirrorless solutions, there are only two analogues: Sony FE 70-300mm F / 4.5-5.6 G OSS 1200 $ and Tamron 70-300mm F / 4.5-6.3 Di III RXD [Model A047] 550$
and even those only for Sony E.
And if you want something like that under the Leica L, then there is no choice at all: either LEICA APO-VARIO-ELMARIT-SL 1:2.8-4/90-280 for $ 7000 or longer Sigma 100-400 1: 5-6.3 DG DN OS | C (Contemporary).

        • Seladir

In this regard, I agree, I just meant an analogue in terms of the level of performance - a protected case, expensive optical elements, fast AF. It seems to me that people's gaze rests on 4.5-5.6 and their "already triset" from the price, although in fact such lenses have existed since mirror times.

yes, this is an old classic, there are a lot of different 70-300s. But, by the way, this Panasonic is not a PRO series, the same Canon EF belongs to the L-series.

$ 1300 for essentially a standard 70-300! You also need to buy a camera ... There is a Canon 70-300L, a gorgeous lens with fluorite and excellent optical performance at all focal lengths, including 300mm (even Salgado uses it in his daily work). It can be found for $ 800 in mint condition and is expected to last longer than these new plastic pieces. The new Nikon AF-P 70-300 FX comes close to it and costs about the same. For 1100-1200 dollars or even less, you can buy a Kenon or Nikon 70-200 / 2.8 in state 99. Please note that manufacturers are happy to stuff new lenses with different high-quality glasses, because they are all made in China and are sold cheap (they are pleasant for buyers and marketers, give excellent results and increase profits!), but few people “dare” use fluorite, which the Chinese have not yet mastered on an industrial scale and is very expensive.
