Latest digital SLR cameras

Supplement to article 'Digital SLR systems that have stopped or are no longer developing'.

DSLR

Latest DSLR cameras released by type (Medium Format, Full Frame, APS-C, 4/3, DSLR, SLT) and software brands:

At the end, the time of the announcement of this or that camera is indicated.

Due to the very, very small market share of Pentax and Leica, we can not take them into account. The remaining brands have completely stopped producing digital SLR cameras (including cameras with a translucent SLT/DSLT mirror), some of them have switched to the production of mirrorless cameras.

The list shows that approximately every year and a half, one of the directions in the mirror segment of the market or one of the brands leaves the race.

Che, nothing is clear. Urgent clarification request. What's the five-year point of no return?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      The brigade left

  • Onotole

Why a five year old and not a six or four year old? After all, the photo market generally obeys cycles that are multiples of 2 years?

    • Arkady Shapoval

The average cycle of 2 years, five years is my guess, a nice number, after which the chances of continuing the line are very small. There is already a lot of confirmation of this

  • Vsevolod

Sony, from the point of view of FF SLT, in fact, had nothing to add until this year, there is an ultimate camera with still the best matrix they have, except for an overkill sensor with RIV. Now A1 has come out, because, as for me, there is a minimal chance that something will be rolled out this or next year - there were rumors about the possible use of a large segment for other technologies, such as stabilization along one more axis, and completely abandon the PPZ. But this is certainly very doubtful, especially considering the release of a new adapter, which on new cameras does not in any way limit the use of lenses for the old bayonet mount on the new one.

  • Oleg

The mirrors go off the stage. Nikon by the way closes 2 of 3 of its factories https://www.ixbt.com/news/2021/02/04/nikon-zakroet-dva-iz-treh-svoih-japonskih-zavodov-po-proizvodstvu-obektivov.html

    • twm

Last year, as far as I remember, the “home” production of cameras of the top line was closed, incl. line F6 was stopped. Plus, they curtailed production in Malaysia.

Now, as I understand it, only an insole will remain with the mark “made in Japan”. All cameras will be “made in Thailand”.

      • Charles

        What is an insole?

        • twm

Oh, the question is not of a youth, but of a husband.
Obviously, a typo: comments on Radozhiv cannot be edited after being sent.

"Glasses" - they are "lenses", if you like.

    • Victor

"Closes two out of three factories." Sounds quite toasty. It would be nice to clarify that we are talking about two Japanese factories out of three, in addition to them Nikon lenses have also been produced for a long time in Thailand and China.

      • Pokemon

        Yes, here's another source:
        https://photar.ru/smi-nikon-zakroyut-zavod-po-proizvodstvu-obektivov-v-yaponii/
It is curious that Nikon will suspend work at his enterprises: the plant in Nagai (Nagai, Yamagata Prefecture) and the Aizu plant (Tadami, Fukushima Prefecture). Both of these factories produce lenses for Nikon digital cameras.
        About Aizu:
"All Sigma products are produced in the company's own Aizu factory in Bandai, Fukushima, Japan."
There is a Sigma factory nearby, where lenses are assembled. After the closure of the Nikon plant, I even know where their employees will go to work - for Sigma.

      • Oleg

Sorry, Nikon doesn't spoil with good news anyway

        • Victor

The company is restructuring in the face of the global crisis, including the one related to the production of photographic equipment, this is absolutely normal.

        • Andrei

Meanwhile, Nikon's shares rose significantly. Niazhidanna.
          Well these kopitalizdy.

  • Oleg

I think Nikon's 3000 and 5000 series can go into oblivion

    • Ivan

Already gone. D3500 and D5600 are already officially on the archive list.
Arkady, you can add according to Nikon. For DX, for example, only D500 and D7500 officially remained. For FX - D6, D850, D800A and D780. All the rest are in the archive:
      https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&u=https://www.nikon-image.com/products/slr/

      • Arkady Shapoval

what to add, where to add? everything has already been added

        • Ivan

          I don't see D5600 in your list, only D3500.

          • Arkady Shapoval

well, it was released after d5600. Here are the latest cameras listed by type and brand, or what do you want?

            • Ivan

              Got it.

      • Victor

Who has gone where? Everything is in place in the global version of the site
        https://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/index.htm

And in the future, it’s a no brainer that the company will focus on the production of mirrorless devices and optics for them, and the mirror segment will be updated exclusively to maintain the image, and mainly in the top segment.

What exactly are you missing in the existing Nikon DSLRs?

        • Arkady Shapoval

I don't think it will be supported at all, a couple more cameras will be released and everyone will be transferred to the BZK

          • Victor

2Arkady: well, that's understandable. 2-3, or 5 models will still be released there, it is not yet known, but how much rope does not twist, but the bzk is still more promising.

It's a pity for the screwdriver optics, but I think the Chinese brothers should not miss a tidbit here.

            • Arkady Shapoval

will make a 100% adapter with a screwdriver, there are already autofocus adapters for manual lenses

          • Victor

In any case, those who have been sitting tightly on the secondary market for a long time will not be worried about the fate of the company.

As in such cases they say - "enough for our century."

            • Arkady Shapoval

              This is exactly

            • Ivan

              Undoubtedly.

          • Alexander

What for? This incomprehensible mirrorless trend is incomprehensible! Have turned down the prices for mirrorless cameras and are now closing factories? Are cameras becoming a luxury? Or, if factories are closed, then no one is buying cameras at all? And who will buy them in large quantities from us at such prices? Will there be a shortage soon because of this? This is the most likely scenario in this situation!

            • Arkady Shapoval

Cameras are moving into the pro segment, where the price is not so critical. The amateur segment with a low and medium price tag was crushed by phones, I already wrote about this 10 times. Even came out today humorous note about it

        • Ivan

I specifically gave a link to a Japanese site. For the rest of the countries, there is a scatter in the models.

          • Victor

What does a Japanese site have to do with it?

There is a global version of the site, and you should be guided by it.

            • Ivan

The global belated edition. In Japanese, information is primary and more operational.

        • Ivan

And here I get it or not? I answered Oleg specifically about the official closure of the 3000th and 5000th episodes.

  • Victor

By the way, Pentax continues to consider SLR cameras as a promising direction, at least it says so :) Like, when the rays directly pass through the pentaprism and enter the pupil, you feel the photo with your heart and all that stuff))

    • Arkady Shapoval

If there is no way to create a competing bzk - what else is there to tell? The same is said by most of the owner of the zk

    • Alexander

I also agree that a live view through pentaprism cannot be replaced by any disfiguring LCD screens. Right in the Pentax think. The time will come, again everyone will rush to the mirror segment. I think that this situation with the transition to mirrorless is pure marketing (this word after the 90s replaced the word “Scam”). That would somehow mow some money on a type of new product. But this is a temporary measure - this is purely capitalist thinking - to mow down in any way! And soon people will get tired of looking at this stupid LCD screen! And the money has already flown away to the capitalists!

      • Arkady Shapoval

Do not get tired, but only look more and more at the displays of smartphones. ZK will remain, but in the minority. Maybe 5 years ago I thought the same way as you, but time gives a new experience, a new look at some things

        • Alexander

Well, you can already write legends about these pokes! And I'm talking about normal people who want to shoot with a camera!

          • Michael

            Rather already about the abnormal)

            • Novel

Despite the fact that a significant part of what is filmed on cameras, and on a smartphone would not be worth filming :)

              • Michael

In principle, yes, but this is from another opera. The learning process is long

              • Victor

                Roman, truly :-)

        • TT

Before DSLRs, I had a compact ultrazoom Olympus. And the principle of shooting is the same as in mirrorless cameras. I bought the first DSLR to “feel the frame with my heart”. And if not, then I shoot perfectly with my smartphone. It is for the pleasure of the photo - this is a DSLR, the smartphone is always at hand to capture the moment and in this case the mirrorless is superfluous, IMHO.

          • ferom

Was it not because they bought a DSLR because they were tired of the ultrazoom picture corroded by noise in a little bit difficult light conditions, and the local contrast autofocus that randomly falls into the desired local contrast?

            • TT

I shot and was happy with the pictures, the focus always fell, rarely when it was necessary to adjust it with my hands. Now I know that there were noises, but then everything was fine, my friend said “buy a DSLR and you will understand what a photograph is or how beautifully it is said“ you will feel the frame with your heart ”” and I bought a d3100, if now you look at it from the point of view of noise, then the picture also corroded by noise and in the d3100 and in the backlight autofocus also does not hit, but I was also happy and got out of the position

      • Seladir

Oh, what a pity, what a wrong world you got. Here in the communist paradise everyone would walk for generations with Zeniths, passed from grandfather to grandson, happy, kind!
In general, what prevents you from realizing a lively view of the world without looking out of any window? Maybe this is individual, but it seemed to me that with the first experience comes a sense of the frame, and if I bring the camera to my face, I already understand what I want to do. At this stage, I do not need to catch Zen, but thanks to EVF I immediately see 100% of the frame, the final exposure, histogram, and level. I enjoy the walk itself and the quality of the final result, which, by the way, is usually viewed in electronic form.

And the last thing - what a renaissance of DSLRs is there if the market for all cameras is shrinking year after year. Did CD players gain popularity after they were superseded by MP3s? And what about MP3 players after being superseded by smartphones? IMHO, the new mainstream for both professionals and amateurs will be BZK, and ZK after some time will be released at all within the nostalgic-limited series.

        • Alexander

I completely agree with this post!

        • Victor

"ZK after some time will be released as part of nostalgic limited series."

In much the same way that turntables are produced today.

That is, they are of course produced, but you will not find them everywhere, and you certainly will not find them in every house, for most of them they settled in dusty attics :)

  • koba

A real mockery of consumers - no one seems to need DSLRs anymore, but prices for Nikon D4s are not decreasing, for less than $ 1700 it is not possible to find. That's all I'm waiting for when will people and, especially, equipment sellers, understand that they urgently need to get rid of DSLRs? Maybe you also have to wait 5 years?

    • Andrei

If they enjoy shooting with a DSLR, why should they "get rid of" them urgently? The camera has a decent resource, there are enough lenses. Why would they need a mirrorless? Because koba thinks it's a mockery? What kind of Chinese logic?

    • Victor

“When people understand that they need to get rid of DSLRs,” then kobe himself will not need it :-)

    • Pokemon

On 1Dx after the release of R5 / R6, prices went down sharply.
      1Dx mk2 also went down a little.
The problem with prices for used D4s is not that it's a DSLR or some unique device.
The camera is really very good, even against the background of the D5, so far.
D4 was sold more and they come across more often and are cheaper, and D4s IMHO less, because there was not the same difference as between D3 and D3s.

  • axess

Eh, I am waiting for the realization of my dream of assembling all "units" of Nikon. In fact, I think it will work out with the CZK as with film, there will be many adherents, amateur clubs, etc., until smartphones finish them too)

    • B. R. P.

Who needs smartphones have already finished off.

  • Jea reth

I believe that you should not make a philosophy of things out of the mirror and try to somehow justify everything by this. It should be admitted that already now using a DSLR is akin to driving a car with a carburetor power system.
