  • Eugene

    Want.

  • Eugene

On the trunk, the price in the region of 1000 bucks was announced.

  • Oleg

One lens to rule the world. Welcome to crop Arkady

    • Arkady Shapoval

This is equivalent to 26-105 / 4.2 (EGF 25.5-105 mm, equivalent aperture in terms of depth of field 4.2), and on the full frame there are already better solutions: Nikon 24-120 / 4 (both wide and longer), Canon / Sony / Panasonic 24 -105/4 (wider) and Tamron 35-150 / 2.8-4 (longer). But I want 24-105 / 2.8 for a full frame.

      • Oleg

Well, in terms of depth of field, crop is always vicious.

        • Novel

17-55 / 2.8 on a head crop. If you shoot people and stories, and not pistils with stamens, so that only the edge of the stamen is in focus. This is why 24-105 / 4 is so popular full frame. Well, up to 70, if I could catch up, it would be generally good, but not critical.

There are very few plots for a thin grip (so that it is really beautiful, and don't look - how cleverly I sharpened the five millimeters of the mushroom cap).

          • Oleg

            come on, a half-length portrait itself will be 70 \ 2.8

          • Eugene

Well, try a full-length group photo, but not in a studio: you will look for a background for half a day, not the fact that you will find it. Need even less grip, there is a lot of blur. You can always close the diaphragm, but open it ...

            • Novel

What is considered a group portrait? If this is a photograph of members of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the CPSU in front of the official part or the graduation class on the doors of the school, you also need to hide behind so that the corner people do not swim as usual. And if this is some kind of artistic portrait for two or three people, then it is still better to shoot at 55 and 2.8 from a long distance than from 20 and 1.4 from a small one - it will pull everyone. Otherwise, you will "wash" all those outstretched arms and noses from the background and it will all be ugly distorted against the watercolor background.

            • Maksim

Well, then try to look at the resulting photo. With blurry people in the background)))

        • Novel

You even look at portraits at 1.8 and think - well, I would have covered myself, it’s very sad when, at half-turn, one eye is sharp and the other is not.

Tamron already had something like this for a full shot:
Tamron SP AF Aspherical LD [IF] 28-105mm 1: 2.8 276D
    https://radojuva.com/2014/10/tamron-sp-af-ld-if-28-105-2-8-276-d/
The lens at the start in Japan cost about the same as Tokina 28-80 / 2.8 at one time (about 100.000JPY ~ 1000 $).
There was also an older 35-105 / 2.8.
Most of the owners scolded the non-working 2.8, the large weight and dimensions and the looseness of the case (over time). Many people advised buying a Tamron 28-75 / 2.8 (in reviews on Sony Club and other discussions of this lens)

    • Arkady Shapoval

There were two versions of them 176 and 276, there was a problematic alignment, if 28-105 came across a normal one, it was very interesting

  • koba

I already refrain from writing a comment here, but I think that this lens will become a hit, I wonder, and others cannot produce such super-demanded characteristics?

    • Arkady Shapoval

16-55 / 2,8 from Sony is wider, and 15mm at the long end is often not that critical. For DSLRs, there is a good Sigma 17-70 / 2.8-4 Contemporary OS.

      • Seladir

Recently I learned that the latter becomes just the same great if you update the firmware on it, since the main problem disappears - focus misses. I rented a docking station for 60 UAH, I will flash x)

    • Pokemon

Most likely yes, especially if Tamron makes it for other mounts (for example, for Fuji and new ones for Nikon / Canon).
The idea is really good and something like that was not on the crop.
Maybe Tamron will shake the old times and release something like a remake of his 28-105 / 2.8 for new mounts for FF.

  • Victor

It seems that a new bestseller has appeared, if it will not be much inferior to its native models, so in general.

    • Oleg

Well, I do not agree with Arkady, few people will notice the difference between 16 and 17 mm, but 70 \ 2.8 even on a crop is quite tasty, I think many will appreciate

      • Victor

Exactly. 17 is quite enough, for super-latitude it is still something like 10-18, but portraits at 70 / 2.8 will already come out very tasty.

  • Victor

Of course, it looks pretty monstrous on the carcass.

It is clear that the characteristics are unique, but nevertheless ... :-(

    • Arkady Shapoval

Not much more than a native TBU

      • Victor

I am not in comparison with Sonya (which is still noticeably smaller - 19mm in length), but in general.

Sonya does not have large crop carcasses, everything is in the 6000 series form factor.
For example, at one time I had a set of d7100 with a 17-50 sigma (about 90 mm in length, three centimeters shorter than 17-70), and this set looked balanced, but here a small carcass and such a not small staff ... However, it will be most likely a matter of habit, but it is already difficult to shoot with one hand.

        • Arkady Shapoval

That's why I use the a3500, for convenience

          • Victor

She is already 7 years old soon, in addition, the model is initial, with all the consequences (especially for Sonya). I read the author's review of it.

I can't know what the company's specialists are guided by in the development of new models, most likely, the bet is made either on amateurs (for whom the smaller the camera, the better, and they will still hang something like 16-50 on it), or videographers who will immediately place the camera in the cage, and overall convenience will not play any role there.

            • Arkady Shapoval

full frame rate, where there is no problem
