Comments: 83, on the topic: Announcement: PENTAX K-3 Mark III

  • Vadim

The camera is good according to its characteristics, no doubt about it. But it seems that Pentax thinks like this: everyone else will close the production of ZK, and we will supply the fans of the mirror, and then we will earn.

    • Arkady Shapoval

They think (there were several statements) that in their opinion mirrorless is a passing fashion and there will be a return to SLR cameras, where they will wait for all those who return

      • Vadim

Yeah, Nikon just announced that FF is not needed. Until now, they cannot overcome the consequences of this lag and stupid quirk. This is what I was thinking about - I saw canons with faded, faded matrices from video filming. Now the question is: the ZK matrix is much less illuminated in general than the BZK, well, with a photo. The number of electrons that can be knocked out of silicon by photons is limited. What is the shelf life of the matrix? There are cases when the sun, captured on video, burns out a trace on the matrix for tens of minutes, for example. The electrons ran out and that's it. Or am I not catching up with something?

        • Arkady Shapoval

We all do not understand something. Problems from the sun are rare, mostly the matrix dies from lasers (laser show, etc.)

      • Victor

Arkady, it seems to me that they think correctly!

        • Victor

Yes Yes exactly. They will release a bunch of high-tech carcasses, excellent optics that have no analogues on mirror systems (Canon 28-70 / 2 is an example of this), and then suddenly, once - and everything is folded. The passing fashion, you know, is the case.

          • Arkady Shapoval

Sony has been folding its mirrorless cameras for 10 years (the first Nex-3, Nex-5 were released back in 2010)

  • Sergei

At least something in this world is permanent! This already inspires trust and respect.

    • Victor

I mean, a brand that is several years behind progress?))

      • Pavel Gorbunov

        IPhone, of course, is better)))

      • Rodion

Well, they release a niche product and release it. Why be angry with them? At least, their cameras themselves seem to be quite good, and the optics are even more so. Every watering can also produces a niche product, but nobody hates them?

        • Michael

They have good cameras. The lenses are also interesting. And everything else is not very

          • Victor

And what is "backward"? Are the straps hard, do they rub your neck?

            • Novel

              Not encouraging.

              • Victor

This is an argument, I agree.

            • Michael

              The rest is:
              1. third party manufacturers. Nobody bothers with KAF
              2. support. It's not only about the service, but also about the availability of instructions, RAW-converter, etc.
3.additional accessories. Same problem as with lenses.
Well, it is not known how much this top crop will be top. Sweet promises from this brand appear with enviable regularity, in contrast to the implementations

              • Victor

In principle, there is nothing to argue with.

Well, who really needs a top crop, already now (and not in 2021, maybe, the year) can turn their attention to the ALREADY existing tops of the first echelon, the same notorious d500 is not much worse in terms of characteristics, somewhere the same , somewhere even better (buffer size, for example), but the model is 16 years old! Among other things, and itself is much cheaper, I am already silent about the prevalence of optics. In general, the carcass may be good, but, IMHO, it will not justify itself (from the manufacturer's side). Fans of the brand should appreciate, though.

              • Arkady Shapoval

Canon EOS 7D Mark II is back in 2014 (!) And can still quite compete with the K3M3.
Sony SLT A77 M2 is also 2014, there is also 12 fps and it can also quite compete with K3M3.
                I would take for a photo like this (to lower the priority): 7DM3 -> D500 -> A77M3 -> K3M3

              • Vadim

Than 7d3 hasn't come out yet. And it is not known whether it will come out

              • Arkady Shapoval

It goes without saying that 7dm2

              • Michael

For fans, and do) As the first camera will not buy. Switching from another system to Pentax now is masochism. There are only fans who are overgrown with a park of optics

              • Arkady Shapoval

It is easier to switch to a full frame of Pentax K1-II, it is now about 1800, and the new K3M3 will be at least 1900 (or even all 2400). The cameras themselves are interesting and good, but the system has its own problems

              • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, it is not easy to buy Pentax even in small marketplaces, and there is not much choice. For example, I just went to Socket (one of the largest marketplaces in Ukraine) and there you can choose only K-70 and KP, even K1 or K1 II cannot be bought. That's the whole system

            • Nicholas

The letter P on the strap is very rubbing. I sell the system

      • Sergei

What's the progress? Give a person a snapshot from the ancient Canon 5DMII and from the latest super-duper sophisticated cameras, well, he will not find it from the monitor without the difference. So what's the progress? - Are the cameras smaller? Together with lenses, not really.

        • Pokemon

          Will find.
If he knows where to look.
The difference in DD, and noise at high ISO above 2500 will definitely see.

          • Novel

I just read the story of how the wine was mixed up in a NY restaurant and a bottle was served to businessmen for $ 18, and to a young couple - for $ 2000. Naturally, neither one nor the other noticed the change.

Although, if these are SPECIAL CATS, then it is quite possible that the difference will already be noticeable at ISO100.

            • Pokemon

              Roman, you're just an ulcer.
Well tell me what really torments you. Let's talk about this.

        • Victor

I will say more: in more than half of the cases, a person will not find differences even on cards without an exif, shot on crop and full frame.
Does this mean that the full frame is not needed, as such?

What progress you will understand if you compare those characteristics of this, not even a released camera with an unknown cost))) and the current mass-produced models.

      • Victor

The smart ones are always at a dead end. And, here to fools, it always seems that they are running along the road of progress.

  • hk

But more was expected of them K-1 mark 3, I think.

    • Neo

I wonder whose sensor is there?

      • Pokemon

        Sony. Others are not expected.

        • Arkady Shapoval

Does Sony (+ Nikon) have such a sensor?

          • Ivan

This sensor is similar (in pixels it does not match) to the one that is put by fujifilm xt4 and the same from Sony. And somewhere there was information on the datasheet that this Sonya matrix can output 16-bit color. But neither fujifilm nor anyone else who uses this matrix implements the preservation of 16-bit color in their cameras.

  • Michael

Is this the super duper everyone promises?

    • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, they have some huge stories about how much they put their soul into this chamber.

  • UstasFritZZZ

And I would buy this charm .. Be at least a little more affordable. So Nikon and Sony van Love.

    • twm

      KP - ~ 800, K-70 - ~ 550 $, - quite affordable carcasses. However, what's the point of them without a park of optics (?)

      • Arkady Shapoval

I've been working with the K-70 for quite some time. It is well praised on the network, but in the end I did not find anything special for myself personally, and the camera as a whole seemed quite unpretentious, I did not even review it. Used with several fixes from Pentax.

        • twm

The Pentax had _very good models: K-10, K-7, K-5; - maybe I'm wrong, combining them into a line, but in terms of a set of features, ergonomics, and overall convenience, this trinity remains the most awesome for me.
K-3 in all iterations, in theory, inherits them. The device itself did not test live.

KP is something that stands alone. If I can say so, having turned the instance in my hands for 5 minutes: ')
Feels crammed with features, and / can be / developed carefully: materials, buttons and their organization, opportunities - everything is there.
True, the display was clamped on top to please the twists. And I would prefer just the usual upper screen and grip (K-7, for example) to these very twists and the "semi-antique" body.

I didn't hold K-70 in my hands, but judging by the pictures: the carcass is the continuation of K-50 / Kx. That is, a “budget” capable of working with K-glasses. As I understand it, quite faceless: ')

          • Vladimir

I had a K-10. Maximum ISO 400. Everything above is complete trash. I'm talking about autofocus in general. I don’t know how it is now, but before, Pentax had simply no autofocus. They always have some special look ...
In general, after LX, Pentax chose the path to nowhere. I think that photographic equipment at that time moved into the segment of high-tech products. which require huge investments. Asahi itself is a small company. And she just didn't pull. But she pulled with her promises.

  • twm

By design, it was as if the KP controls were crossed with the body from the K-70: at least, more twists were poured than on the K-70 carcass.

  • Sergei

I really like their glasses, and the same approach to weather protection. I will wait for the ISO tests, and pictures of the camera jpeg, if there are no obvious failures, I will buy it. I have long wanted Pentax with a second camera.

  • Novel

But it could be some kind of 7D Mark III.

Not until the end of February * 2021 *. Unless we now have 2020 every year.

    • Pokemon

So you don't need it anyway. In your opinion, there is still no difference between the crops. And the cats and the railway will work great for you even at 0d, right? : '-)

      • Novel

In addition to the difference in the generated image, there is also a difference in other characteristics. 7D3 with a built-in stub would please me. 100 focusing points after 9 and some built-in level there are also very good additions. Well, less noise at high ISO, yes. But it is worth taking by the totality of characteristics, skipping a generation, or even two. If this is only two tenths of the dynamic range, then you need it.

  • Victor

“The price is about $ 2400-2900. The PENTAX K-3 Mark III will not go on sale until the end of February 2020 ”

I would like to know where this cost comes from, and I will also note that the camera will certainly not go on sale before February 2020, I would not even hope for July :)

    • Arkady Shapoval

They themselves announced such a cost in their official video presentations (9.43) Pentax K3 M3

      • Victor

        Thank you.

Yes, if Rico charges the price list in RFii under 200k wooden, it seems that even the fanciest compatriot fans will tremble, letting out a meager tear of resentment and disappointment)

      • twm

It turns out that the price niche is K-1: ')
Regarding the price KP (~ 800USD) - and there is a not bad stub “up to 5 stops”, and the same weather seal - I don't know, I can't understand Rico's ambitions.

        • Arkady Shapoval

          Apparently the last powerful push

  • Vlad

As a result, we get something very similar to the D500. Such a "top crop" for those who did not have enough on D5, but really want

    • Ivan

I also got an association with the D500 - the rate of fire and increased moisture protection.

      • Pokemon

Only this camera has, which is not in the D500 or 7DMk2:
Image Stabilizer: SR II Sensor Offset (5-axis), 5,5 stops compensation effect
There are not so many crop cameras with a matrix stub - the first to remember are Fuji X-H1 or X-T4, Sony A6500-A6600 and SLR Pentaxes and Sony A77m2 (if they are still available) with a translucent mirror.

        • Arkady Shapoval

But I stopped considering it such a good decision after this note “An important disadvantage of the matrix stabilizer“. At the same time, the stub on the SLT and UPC is devoid of this drawback

          • Victor

Likewise, the stub on the matrix in the mirror is like that.

In addition, there is also a moment, when the lens is stubbed, you can always see at what moment the picture stops “floating”, and you can shoot, but this is not the case here. And the reliability of the stub on the sensor is always lower.

            • Pokemon

"And the reliability of the stub on the sensor is always lower."
Do you have statistics of broken stubs on Pentax and Fujah?
To be honest, I haven’t come across such a thing, but a broken stub in the lens - please.
              Even in Sigma ART 24-70 / 2.8.
              A light fall is enough.

              • Victor

There are, of course, no statistics, but obviously, such a design with cables from the matrix is less reliable than just a lens in a magnetic field. There have been cameras with a faulty stabilizer, yes, pentaxes, Olympus, Sony.

              • Vladimir

I once had an old editorial camera Sony A330, another DSLR, but with a stabilizer. So her frame in the viewfinder did not match (by about 10-15%) what was obtained in the picture. I had to mentally make a correction. Apparently, just because the stub broke and the matrix sunk somewhere down and to the side. And I read that this is a fairly common problem.

              • Eugene

There is an article on lenrental, where they checked their cameras with a stub: there were no different breakdowns on the crops, and on Sonya's ff the mount cracks (not for all), but whether this affects the operation of the stub, they could not determine unequivocally.

              • twm

                To Vladimir's comment:
Alpha carcasses have a matrix stub in Dynax 5d / 7d - i.e. prior to the purchase by (Sony) of the CPC of the Minolta division.

And the matrix - in the event of a failure of this stub - is really warped in some cases: I was a witness to this on Alpha 230.

They say that the Pentax stub is less fragile (= more fault-tolerant) than the Sony implementation. Maybe it really is. At least I don't remember any complaints about a failed stub on pentaxforums

  • Victor

I wonder if Canon / Nikon will still have DSLRs, and will they announce new SLR optics for the f mount, or has the sunset officially come? Intuition tells that there will be no more cameras / optics. In addition to d6 and d780, nothing came out over the past 4 years (although d7500 is like 2017). All terms have already passed ((

    • Arkady Shapoval

Most likely, Nikon / Canon will be released for a long time for a full frame.
For example, this year they showed Nikon N AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm 1: 2.8E FL ED SR VR и Canon EOS-1D X Mark III.
The same Pentax showed an interesting HD PENTAX-D FA * 85mm 1: 1.4 ED SDM AW.

      • Victor

And under the crop is unlikely to continue? They also spoil the mirrorless crop.

        • Arkady Shapoval

Most likely no. I suppose there will be no more native mirror lenses for a crop. Perhaps some other new whales are super-compact, but something light, for sure.

      • Victor

The last crop lens was 16-80

        • Arkady Shapoval

          16-80 2015, after him there were several more lenses: 70-300 / 4.5-6.3 VR AF-P DX, 70-300 / 4.5-6.3 AF-P DX, 18-55 / 3.5-5.6 VR AF-P DX, 18-55 / 3.5-5.6 AF-P DX (all four 2016). And the newest is 10-20 / 4.5-5.6 AF-P VR 2017 (3 years ago)
Updates 17-55 2.8 are definitely not worth waiting for

          • Victor

Thank you, Arkady for your work and willingness to help!

  • Michael

Interestingly, by the way, did they finish Liveview, or the same one as on the K-5?

  • Eugen

Normal AF! Where? When? (I am silent about “by the eyes”), a backlight sensor, ... Well, well! :))

But you will get: an unreal, well, completely unsuitable iso (unless you shoot aliens at night, by the way: on k1 - 12800 - a reasonable ceiling), a touch screen (not rotary! But in k1 - this option is good).

4K video - I shed a tear when I found out that in case of overheating, the camera turns off! (I don't know a single pentaxist who professionally shoots videos).

as a fan of the pentax, I would take a closer look (as a backup camera), but at a price of $ 1100-1300

    • Novel

Well, strictly speaking, new Canon cameras turn off at 4K when they overheat, there are hard limits for the shooting time, because there is no active cooling of the matrix and in general for prof. shooting is prof. solutions. And the video on Pentax is not filmed not because it is bad (there are not many of them in general), but because there are more lenses for EOS (and on Sony it is installed through an adapter). There are not very many Nikonists with video either.

    • Yan

I'll see through. Even my 5-year-old k5 makes great videos. In fullashdi in standard firmware, 30 minutes, then another and another, well, you understand ... Information about overheating I have conditionally shines after XNUMX minutes of activation. I didn't bring it to self-shutdown, I don't know.
By the way, nothing terrible happens during the shooting. I use old manuals in the priority of the diaphragm, naturally, 200. Kanesh Panas in 4k is like a hot water bottle, who can argue ... But I tell you about 1080 25 that all the norms are included in the device, at the output you cannot distinguish them from the best.
The shooting experience is generally 25 years.
      Good luck.

  • Baldis

Well, the price is like 200000 yen, about 140 rubles per dollar. Who is ready to take?

    • 1Ds_mk3

This is for the Japan market only.
No one in the rest of the world cares about how blacks live in Africa and what they rent.
Issue price - 350.000 yen (price with delivery in Japan).
      Sales start: April 30
      https://www.yodobashi.com/product/100000001006012204/
Yodobashi camera is one of the largest camera / glass sellers in Japan

  • Baldis

Uuuu ... In that case, goodbye, petyuh. Who needs a crop for that kind of money when you can take a top-end bzk ff?

    • Vladimir

In all cases, the company itself is to blame. Here I read what magnification in the eyepiece is 1,05. As I understand it, this is a real increase in the image that is visible at a standard lens angle. And what they put all 15 years. It seems to be somewhere around 0 . In fact, this is just a mockery of people. Well, now they are reaping the rewards. And then after all, DSLRs started at 6. And then it got worse and worse and worse...

      • Viktre

        They never had like 0.6.

        0.9 ... 0.95 was.

In general, yes, the price of k3 - 3 is a kind of nonsense. It is difficult to imagine who would need such a camera for such money. Unless the most devoted fans of the brand.

      • Dima

Well, Pentax in equal classes has always been much more interesting than Nikon/Canon in terms of buns. Moisture protection, matrix stub, vi pentamirror 100% coverage and this is all even for younger models such as K30 fa and this is the level of Nikon D5100 and 650d. They never dreamed that Pentax was offering this. There was even an 18-55 with a hair mask.
0.6 was never some kind of nonsense.

        • Viktre

Who can argue, there are pluses, but there are still a lot of minuses, which is what brought Pentax to the “bench”. Crop (mirror, at that) for $1700 – don’t you want it?)

  • Volodimir

The stench has become rocky on the 5th with a camera.
I have bought Nikon d500 in 2017. First of all, do not forget to use different cameras (don't take the opportunity for video). And the pentax і on video d500 is not surpassed.

    • Dima

There are so many goodies there that the D500 is smoking on the bench.

      • Arkady Shapoval

That's just the sensor from the d500 Pentax was not given, but this can be finished
