Nikon D7200

Nikon D7200 increase.

The Nikon D7200 was officially introduced on March 2, 2015, and the camera is currently discontinued. Nikon D7200 is a logical continuation of the model Nikon D7100, which was introduced two years earlier, on February 1, 2013. In turn, the Nikon D7200 was replaced / supplemented by the Nikon model D7500, which was announced on April 12, 2017.

Three models: Nikon D7000, D7100The D7200 are very similar to each other. All of them belong to the advanced amateur class, which has many functions inherent in professional models, but at the same time will be clear to the ordinary amateur photographer.

The lineup includes the following evolutionary branch: Nikon DX: D70 -> D70s -> D80 -> D90 -> D7000 -> D7100 -> D7200 -> D7500. It is convenient to work with these cameras for almost any photographer, regardless of the level of his skills. This range also includes Nikon FX full-frame cameras: D600 -> D610 -> D750 -> D780.

Over time, the functionality of this line expanded, but did not change dramatically. During market presence Nikon D7000, D7100The D7200 was not a direct replacement for a more advanced professional camera Nikon D300sIn this connection, the D7100 / D7200 models partially took the burden of the professional segment of Nikon DX cameras on themselves. With the advent of replacement for Nikon D300s, represented by Nikon D500, the need for the maximum functionality of the D7000-> D7100-> D7200 series has also disappeared, which is why the newer Nikon model D7500 received partially less functionality than the D7200. But because the Nikon D7200 is still a very attractive solution for many photographers and amateur photographers.

About camera lines / classes

Separation on a ruler is not a simple convention, there are very specific parameters behind it. When choosing a Nikon camera, first of all, I recommend deciding on its class, which will greatly simplify and facilitate the choice. Ruler advanced amateur The camera is very balanced and suits a huge number of amateur and professional photographers.

Pro line of Nikon camera classes

About the line of Nikon camera classes. increase.

I also added this plate to section about all Nikon cameras.

Briefly about Nikon D7200:

  1. Nikon D7200 uses a 24 MP CMOS sensor, the maximum image size is 6000 X 4000 pixels. The ISO range is from 100 to 25.600, you can set two additional ISO HI 1 values, equivalent to 51.200 and ISO HI 2, equivalent to 102.400. Most likely this sensor is used in some other cameras. Approximate data for sensors that use Nikon cameras can be see here. The Nikon D7200 sensor has an excellent dynamic range, the noise level at high ISO is at the level typical for modern APS-C sensors.
  2. Responsible for image processing EXPEED 4 processorwho also works on board cameras Nikon D810810a D750, D5600, D5500, D5300, D3300, D3400, D3500 and even D4s.
  3. Focus module Advanced Multi-CAM 3500DX II, exactly the same as Nikon D7500. With a sensitivity of -3 EV, the camera uses 51 focus points, 15 of which are cruciform. This is an upgraded module, the old version of which was used in the camera D7100. Based on the primary Multi-CAM 3500 sensor, cameras have been manufactured since 2009. For the first time the simplest Multi-CAM 3500 was introduced on cameras Nikon D3 и Nikon D300. The modernization of the module concerns its minimum sensitivity and the number of points that can work with dark lenses at maximum apertures F / 5.6-F / 8.0. All cameras built on any of the modifications of the Multi-CAM 3500 have a very tenacious focus with a wide range of functions and settings.
  4. Maximum burst speed is 6 frames per second in DX mode and 7 frames per second in framing mode 1.3X. The maximum burst speed during operation via Live View is 3.7 frames per second.
  5. The camera supports high speed bus UHS-I for SDHC / SDXC memory cards. D7200 has two slots for memory cards and several settings for their use.
  6. Minimum excerpt synchronization is 1/320 seconds, the minimum excerpt 1/8000 seconds. The camera supports high-speed sync with external flashes.
  7. Metering module exposure on 2.016pixels. Exactly the same as the models D7000, D7100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D5600 и D600, D610, Df.
  8. Video: 1920 X 1080 60p and 50p, but only in crop mode 1.3X... In normal mode, only 1920 X 1080 30p, stereo microphone. H.264 codec, 'MOV' container. Maximum video length is 30 minutes. 3.5 connectors for microphone and 3.5 for headphones. HDMI type C.
  9. Main display 3.2 in by 1.229 million points (640 X 480 X 4). The display is not touch, and not rotary. Exactly the same as D7100.
  10. The Nikon D7200 controls are very similar to previous models. Nikon D7000, D7100. The functionality of the additional monochrome display is greatly reduced. Now there you can see only a few useful values. In previous models, the functionality of the monochrome display was much larger and allowed you to configure and control much more parameters.
  11. Else: Nikon D7200 has a built-in focus motor for working with AF-type lenses. There is also a diaphragm rheostat for working with AI / AI-S-type lenses and lenses without CPU contacts. The built-in flash can remotely control external flash units in automatic modes using Nikon CLS.
  12. Nikon D7200 has Wi-fi and Bluetooth on board
  13. Together with a battery and a memory card and a bayonet cap, the camera weighs 770 grams.

Buffer

Pretty weak spot Nikon D7100 was small frame buffer. In the D7200 model, it increased approximately 2 times.

With all additional features disabled, the D7200 buffer is:

  • 12 RAW 14-bit lossless compression
  • 15 RAW 14-bit conventional compression
  • 16 RAW 12-bit lossless compression
  • 19 RAW 12-bit conventional compression
  • 15 RAW 14-bit lossless compression, 1.3X crop mode
  • 11 RAW + JPEG 14-bit lossless compression, JPEG quality priority
  • 16 RAW + JPEG 12-bit conventional compression, JPEG size priority
  • 30 JPEG L FINE Quality Priority
  • 53 JPEG L NORM Quality Priority
  • 76 JPEG L BASIC quality priority

The inclusion of all additional functions that improve image quality leads to a decrease in buffer capacity by only 1-2 frames.

With fast memory card SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB / s 32 GB during burst shooting in 'RAW 14-bit / lossless compression' mode, the brakes start after 19 frames.

My experience

Nikon D7200 is a very good camera. Its only problem, I would highlight the fact that it has not gone very far from the D7100. I don't see much point in upgrading from D7100 to D7200.

The question is which is better at the moment: D7200 or new D7500also remains open. But overall, I highly recommend looking at the newer model. It’s a pity that D7500 selected some useful functions, such as a diaphragm rheostat, a slot for a second memory card, the ability to use a vertical grip / battery pack, etc.

I consider this line of cameras to be the most successful and very functional. DX Models: D7100, D7200, D7500 and FX: D610, D750, D780 from this line are good balanced solutions.

It's important: a lot of comments about the Nikon D7200 camera can be found on Radozhiv on the page of his announcement.

    Offhand. Advantages over the d7100.
    1. Normal buffer.
    2. Jpeg per stop is better, which in terms of noise equals jpeg with d600
    3. No banding.
    4. A trifle, but the sensitivity of the focus points is -3ev versus -2ev.

    • Andrei

Well, it doesn’t equal the full-frame sensor in terms of noise, although what you do, the pumpkin will not turn into a carriage, even at 12 o’clock in the night.

It would not hurt to mention that the D7500 does not have the ability to put a battery pack. So Nikon offers the user to either stay on 7200, or take the expensive D500 right away, or already
    still raw Z50.

The D7500 has the same matrix as the D500. Lower resolution. If there are also colors like those of D500, then everything speaks in favor of 7100 - 7200 with their wonderful matrices from Toshiba. And yet - if I remember correctly, the D7500 has a completely plastic case.

      • Ivan

Any SLR camera has a metal frame. Outside, only plastic linings.

        • Alexey

All amateur cameras do not have a metal frame - only a plastic molded construction, to which all the units and blocks are screwed.

          • Ivan

So, offhand I opened the service manual for the D3100. There are also photos of the disassembled D60. Give your arguments, Alex.

          • Ivan

            And more (D3100):

            • BB

There is a steel frame, but it is prefabricated (and not cast), it is needed for a more convenient (accurate) assembly, but it does not add much rigidity.

              • Ivan

And I did not say that the frame is cast. Alexey claimed that there was plastic instead of metal.

              • Ivan

A very interesting idea is that the steel frame does not add rigidity. Is it from the "sopromat"?

              • Michael

Adds, of course. Higher than all epithets compared to older cameras with a cast metal body

              • Ivan

Michael, read carefully. Initially, Vsevolod suggested that the case is completely plastic. No one argues about the degree of rigidity of the cast and prefabricated metal frame. All SLR cameras have a metal frame, and professional cameras have a cast frame.

      • Anatoly

Where do you get these myths about “Toshiba's matrices”?
Is it really so hard to just open it up and look at least at the size of the matrices and see that the matrices of the D7100 and D7200 are completely different (and not the same "from Toshiba" is for both models?
        The D7100 has a matrix from Toshiba HEZ1 TOS-5105
The D7200 has a matrix from Sony IMX-193-AQK
Yes, this matrix was released by Sony after Sony bought Toshiba. Yes, when developing a new matrix, the previous matrix from Toshiba was partially taken as a basis - but this is a completely different matrix. When the D7200 came out, and Toshiba herself had already been sold ..
Was it really so difficult to open any technical specifications and look at the completely different physical characteristics of the matrices (if it's so hard to figure out the marking or look at the spare parts codes for the D7100 and D7200)

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

I also face a choice. I buy mostly for my wife, she cares about a small screen, comfort. I myself often go on extreme hikes. Somehow I screwed up our family soap box G11 a bit, I don’t know grief with my old K200 DSLR, but we need a modern matrix - large magnifications (at work). Even Canon 550 with 18mp. not enough, 24 will be just right.

    • Vladimir

So the problem is that d7200 right now in normal shops cannot be bought. Only in some strange.

      • Ivan

I went to Yandex.Market, from normal stores there are in Komus and in M. Video (a showcase sample).

        • Vladimir

          Well, in Ukraine, no

      • BB

But BU is full, people started to switch to D7500 and BZK

        • Ivan

Vladimir asked not about second-hand, but about new ones.

        • Vladimir

They are not very full ... And their price is close to the price of new ones.

          • BB

In Ukraine, there are few proposals for new ones, the price is 21-23 thousand UAH. ($ 785- $ 860).
BOO. enough offers in the range of 13-14 thousand UAH. ($ 485- $ 525) with mileage up to 20k.
I personally took the camera in March for 13500 with 7k mileage, there were several offers with up to 10k mileage. Minus a third of the cost, IMHO, this is not “close” to the cost of the new one, you can still buy “fifty kopecks” and buy a flash for “change” from the new one (in fact, Nikkor 50 / 1.8 came out 3500 UAH, total 17000 UAH for the D7200 with fifty dollars - that's all equally significantly cheaper than a new carcass).
Actually, I decided to buy now, because with the release of the D7500 the previous model dropped in price - especially the used one.

            • Vladimir

Something does not seem to me 30% a normal discount for a used one. Because used is always a pig in a poke. Even with a mileage of less than 10 thousand, you can stupidly drop it, for example, or have some other evil and non-obvious glitch that no one will repair for free in the service center.
The normal price for a used one should be less than 21/2 - 11,5 thousand ...

              • Gregor

                Normal price?
                Interestingly

            • Volodymyr

Hello, I'm looking at d7200, but on olkh with mileage up to 100k they cost about 15 thousand. If it's not a secret, share the link where you bought the camera. Thank you.

  • UstasFritZZZ

Thanks for reviewing my favorite camera! Just choosing between it and the D7500. When I compared it live, the choice became more obvious - definitely D7200. Even if there is no rotary touch screen, the camera is very solidly assembled, inspiring confidence and reliability. I shot everything, shot with different lenses - only positive emotions, even at high ISO. It has thought out every button, every menu item, every function. It has amazing ergonomics. The battery is very tenacious, the viewfinder is bright, it is very smart, 2 slots for flash drives (it helped out more than once), the built-in flash also sometimes saves, lenses with a screwdriver work clearly + manual without chips can be adjusted directly through the menu. More than once I needed his fast continuous shooting, I even shot a video and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. In short, the camera is super, I have been using it for three years and am extremely happy with it. I will not change for anything. If anyone is going to take - take it, you will not regret it!

    • UstasFritZZZ

I forgot to mention fast and very accurate autofocus, even in poor lighting conditions. Misses, if they happen, are more my fault.

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Thanks for your feedback.

    • Vladimir

They took it where? Neither in the brain nor in the outlet ...

      • UstasFritZZZ

Hotline and E-catalog give links to at least 5 stores with D7200 (search date 12.06.2020/7200/XNUMX). And I took ua at didi, the store is good, but the dXNUMX is no longer there

    • Alexander

Well, yes, each button is thought out)
Especially the damn microscopic wheel lock shooting modes, which is convenient to press, except with a fingernail.

      • UstasFritZZZ

I described my impressions, since 2018 the opinion has taken shape. For me, the camera is convenient for absolutely everyone, the retainer has never caused negative emotions at all, although I have big hands.

Thank you for your kind words. Also in doubt, either 7500 or this 7200, I often go out on hikes, but my wife needs comfort - a swivel screen. Probably I will listen to your advice more.

  • Ivan

Arkady, a good table! I will add my comments. It is a pity that in many reviews there are no photos of cameras at the back. This is important information on functionality and ergonomics. For example, this camera has a clear advantage over the D7500 in the optional IR receiver on the back for the remote control. And another important point, none of the Nikon cameras is as close in terms of the dynamic range to the D850 camera as this one (14,6 and 14,8]:

    • Arkady Shapoval

The numbers are beautiful. But, for example, I personally hardly notice the difference in DD, for example, between the D810 and D7200. Everything is already at such a level that tenths of EV have no decisive role. Earlier, when 11.3 (D80) was opposed to some new 12.5 (D90), you could say “wow”, this is the level of DD. Now there are a lot of modern cameras, especially on Sony sensors, practically on the same face on dd. This, of course, is my personal opinion. Perhaps, on large samples of photos, all these shares will be summed up and give a tangible gain.

      • Pokemon

DxoMark benchmarks are such a specific topic ...
I had a wow when switching from D3S to D4. At low ISOs this is very noticeable.
Between the D750 and D4 it was no longer so noticeable, plus the exposure meter and everything else in the D750 ... well I won't ... I sold it and God bless her with the 750 ...
Well, also, when I realized that Fuji S3Pro / S5Pro bypassed the Sigma SD-1 Merrill. It was also wow.
S3Pro is about the same level or slightly better, and S5Pro is noticeably bypassing.
SD Quattro / SD QH is gone.
PS> It's probably even good that DxO doesn't test all Fuji and Sigma cameras.
They would have Stalingrad in the comments.

        • Evgeniy

If it's not a secret, you can read more about the impression when switching d3s to d4

          • Pokemon

AF is a little faster and more accurate, especially in the dark, especially on tight old screwdriver lenses. On D3s, the AF module was already good, but on D4 it was almost perfect.
DD is wider at low ISO, this is very noticeable.
Another standard color profile, greens are less accentuated on D3s.
In terms of noise, the D3s wins at 3200, the picture in RAW without compression and with the noise reduction turned off is subjectively cleaner.
In general, the D3s left a very positive feeling - if I had the opportunity to keep both cameras myself, I did so.
            The D750 didn't leave positive behind ...

  • Michael

    Arkady, typos:
    "Sensor data"
“The sensor upgrade is about its minimum sensitivity” - probably the AF module. There is still no sensor in the generally accepted concept

    • Arkady Shapoval

  • Nicholas

Thanks to Arkady for his work. It supplies the material without any water, specifically and with its own conclusions, which is very important. And the 7200 is really a successful model, which for a long time will faithfully serve amateur photographers and professionals do not seem to disdain. I have been working with her for more than 2 years, everything suits me. It is a pity that the display does not recline, sometimes it happens. Those who choose a crop carcass definitely advise.

  • Dmitry Smirnov

In terms of shooting landscapes at low ISO, the Toshiba 24MP matrix in the D7200 will be more interesting than the Sony 20MP matrix in the D7500.

    • Arkady

Toshiba's matrix is a solid green, there is no point in comparing Sonya with it. Toshiba distorts colors as much as possible. The best matrix that Nikon had is the D7000 and D4s. Toshibov's version is just a mockery of color.

      • Pokemon

"The best matrix Nikon has is the D7000 and D4s."
Excuse me, but where does this data come from?
Who and how determined their degree of "best"?
        What about matrices D3s, D3X, D4, D850 (you can also remember D40, D80, D200, etc. CCD)?

        • Arkady Shapoval

DF has slightly better video than d4 / d4s

      • Andrei

Yeah, into the green, hmm. I have d7200 for almost 3 years, on the contrary, it goes red, greens are when I picked up the cones, but I never saw the tree. Submit and then draw conclusions, download the sources and see.

To shoot pictures (reproductions) I need an apparatus, color is important (DD too) .. Also, I am standing in front of the choice 7200 or 7500?

“With the fast SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB / s 32 GB memory card, the 'RAW 14-bit / Lossless compression' burst shooting starts after 19 frames.”

When I bought the d7200 for a long time, I did a series of shooting two times for the test. I took almost 100 frames in a row and did not notice the brakes. Now the truth I can’t check, sold already.

    • Arkady Shapoval

In JPEG with a quick card, the brakes do not start. But in the RAW format, they cannot but start theoretically.

An average RAW file ('.NEF') with 14-bit depth and lossless compression weighs about 30MB. 6 fps x 30 MB we get 180 MB of data in one second. And the maximum bandwidth of the UHS-I bus is only 104 MB / s. Because of this, chances are you didn't shoot in RAW.

      • Peter

What exactly is in Raw, can with not maximum speed.

        • Arkady Shapoval

          it can be)

      • mell

My brakes went on 6-8 frames, if the series.
        That is actually a confirmation.
        But there was no jpeg.

  • Jankowsky

Arkady, thanks for the review! I want to say that I spent 4 years on the D7100 before switching to full frame. The D7200 has radically changed, improved color rendition - this is the first thing that catches your eye from the examples of photos. 7100 and 7200 are different color cameras. The picture looks like D810. The D7100 had just terrifying ubiquitous brilliant green and dirty grainy noise in the shadows even at ISO 100. And the matrix drawing itself is very rough and hard.

    • Arkady Shapoval

How did you endure 4 years?

      • Jankowsky

I remembered for sure - I bought it with the D7100 in March 2014 with a new one, got 37000 shots, sold it at the end of July 2016 and changed it to D800. It is clear that everything is decided by money - but then her picture seemed cool to me. 2013 (Nikon D5200) -2014 is the beginning of my “career”. When I switched to d800, I was simply horrified, HOW did I shoot with 7100 for so long? Unit what I wanted then was to return to the past and stupidly reshoot each frame at d800

        • Michael

I'm afraid there was more in the lens

          • Roman

Maybe a person just learned to shoot? Or has he changed his place of residence?

Honestly, here's the ergonomics, focusing speed, the number of these points, one or two cards, built-in levels - give me an old camera now, I will really miss this. But cry over the tough picture and dirty color rendering? Nothing has fundamentally changed in this regard over the past ten years, if not more, and the pictures of that time are quite pleasing to the eye even now.

            • Michael

Now I will sign, there is personal experience =)
I now have the Nikon d5200 on hand as a lightweight camera for every day, and the matrix there is the same as the Nikon d7100, only with an anti-moir filter.
There are greens in the shadows at ISO 100, but it manifests itself with a strong underexposure of stops 4, it is corrected by one slider in ACR Calibration-Shadows-Tint by removing the shadows to a purple hue. That is, all these perennial complaints about greens on Nikon can be fixed in 1 second.
This matrix has a more acute problem - banding when underexposed by 4 stops, so it cannot be fixed, this is probably the biggest disadvantage.
But about the grainy noise - a lie, the matrix by modern standards is quite good in this regard.
The problem with Nikon crops is the almost complete lack of crop lenses that would resolve the APS-C sensor. When using FF optics on Crop, we get, for example, a larger number of CAs, which by the way is possible and explains the dirty color in a person above.

              • BB

Banding is present, I agree, but with such a strong underexposure, usually little remains of the picture. I have been using the D7100 since 2015, the problem of banding has touched only a couple of times, but there still the frames were 'killed' - the flash did not work.
For me, the D7100 has one notable drawback - a small buffer.

              • Roman

Well, if this is such a big problem - what prevents you from making your own profile with amendments, which will take into account greenery in the shadows and give other coefficients. There will be an amendment immediately. Look, the man above posted his photo in the forest - he is all in green reflexes. It is quite reliably filmed and accurate, but absolutely unacceptable. You need to edit.

                It turns out that…
If I need to shoot with a macro lens (50-60mm) or just a 50mm / 1.8 lens, will the quality still be bad? For full-fledged implementation, do you need a 35mm cropped macro lens from Sigma, say, or 40mm for Pentax K3? But if I just put a manual 60mm Nikkor at 7200 or a regular 50 / 1.8 I will not achieve the desired result?
Here is a photo taken on a Canon 550D, with a 50mm / 1.8 lens, took a camera down at work. 18MP resolution is clearly not enough, but now I understand that the 50mm staff obviously does not improve the picture as a whole. What you need is a crop lens. And in essence, a more advanced device like this Nikon and a special crop lens for it.

The landscape can remind many of something ... .. This is the city of Partizansk inhabited by immigrants from Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century, twice in two waves. They brought with them all the seedlings, utensils and their culture. Therefore, together with the mountainous terrain, much resembles

    • BB

Are you talking about Jpeg? The difference in Raw is not particularly noticeable.

    • Peter

I agree 100%, it was also so. Then the camera was stolen, and I bought the D7200 - the picture is just class compared to the previous camera.

      • BB

There are 7100 and 7200 now, there is no global difference in color. Some photo shoots were shot mixed with two cameras (with different optics), without peeping in exif, the difference is not visible.
I’m generally silent about RAW: in lightroom, with identical settings, we get an almost identical color.

    • Denis

Did you happen to shoot 18-55 AF-P? here everything turns dirty green. and with 50mm 1.4G or 18-85 everything is fine

    • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Good customer. I am very interested in color, it is important in my work.

A useful difference between the D7200 and the D7100 is the ability to implement a Focus Trap. As far as I remember in the Autofocus settings section, there is some difference from the D7100 and D600 / 610. The D7100 and D600 / 610 always have the priority of descent.

    • Denis

      D7100 has focus priority

      • Alexey

D7100 (and D610) cannot implement a focus trap. It is possible with the D7200 (it seems possible with the D750, but I did not deal with it).

  • Victor

Arkady, many thanks for the review! I understand that the question is subjective, but still I would like to ask you it, as a subtle connoisseur of cameras with really good color and who have vast experience in this area. Which one, or which of the Nikon DX cameras of the last 8-10 years did you like, did you like in terms of color reproduction (without connection with the functionality and high quality). I don’t know why, but often looking at the photos from the old Pentaxes, Olympuses, Sonya still mirrored, not to mention some ghouls, I am convinced that the color there is more pleasant, deeper. Although on paper they are many times inferior to modern cameras. Of particular interest are the d7100-7200-7500 and d500. It seems that you said somehow that the d500 color didn’t fit you well.

    • Arkady Shapoval

To really like it - there are none. Everyone is trying to average, to fit the correct curves. And correct does not mean beautiful. A stable color in d4, d5, quite pleasant in d850, is quite suitable in d810, even in this d7200.
Subjectively, in samples from Canon 1DX and Panasonic, we like new (full-frame) ones. But I have long ceased to be soared about this for a long time, in any case, the cameras are changing, and therefore there must be a skill with which you need to get good color always and from any camera. This is far more important than these black boxes.

      • Pokemon

"To like it straight - there are none."
But what about D40, D80 and Pryatka? :)

        • Michael

          Nikon DX last 8-10 years

        • Arkady Shapoval

They are clearly not 8-10 years old.

          • Pokemon

I beg your pardon, I didn’t mention “the last 8-10 years”.

      • Victor

Thanks! All the same, everything returns to square one - to the topic "ssd versus kmop". And this is the correct plasticine color with high isos, BUT WITHOUT SPEAKING. Recently I looked again at pictures from Epson rd2. Yes, 6MP, but COLOR, COLOR!

        • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

I am also very interested in color, in addition to the general tasks of photography, I shoot reproductions of paintings (my own and not only), it is the color that is important and the presence of 24MP (at least) the volume of my Pentax K200 is not enough, large increases are needed. Here on the forum I realized that 7200 is better in color than 7100 and 7500 - thanks to Alexander. and to all the participants in the discussion. Despite the praise in the direction of the Pentaxes, many are scolded for the color, it can be pleasant for the landscape and for. but when you just need the authenticity of the picture and maybe juiciness (not faded colors), then look at different options. Nikon and Pentax are also interesting with old lenses, there are also interesting examples among them.

  • Vlad

Interesting review, thanks! Even in Nikon camera reviews, it would be nice to indicate how the aperture and mirror control mechanism is implemented: is it possible to control the aperture in lv, does the mirror close when shooting in lv, focusing is performed when the aperture is closed or open. It is these features that are very frustrating in the d5600

    • Arkady Shapoval

In Live View, the mirror does not fall, only the shutter works. With G-lenses, the aperture in Live View or in real-time movie mode is not user adjustable. As for E-lenses, you need to go into the instructions. In any case, this is an old Nikon affliction.

      • Alexey

With the D7100 in liveView, the iris is controlled on an E-lens (at least on the AF-P 70-300 FX). Most likely the D7200 also.

      • Alexey

Boyarin, the impossibility of controlling the diaphragm when the mirror is raised is not a bug, but a feature of all Nikons, this is how machinism works, it is a long time to describe in words, it is better to disassemble the camera once and you yourself will understand. just when this mechanism was being developed 60 years ago, no one could even think of the need to change the diaphragm “on the fly” :)

  • Vsevolod

As far as I remember, the 7500 also lacks HSS, I think this is an important point worth mentioning. In general, the 7200 is the only camera that could be regarded as a competitor to the Sony a77 / 77-2, although it settled on the latter.

    • Arkady Shapoval

No, the D7500 supports AUTO FP.

      • Gennady

So you can also make front / back corrections on the 7500 and use lenses without chips? For example, the Soviet ones.

  • Yarkiya

Arkady, one moment from the review, seemed not quite correct. You write that the problem is 7200, it is its similarity to 7100. It seems like it turns out that 7100 is bad.

    • Arkady Shapoval

No, it turns out that the development is small.

  • Oleg

Arkady, in your opinion, what is the working ISO of this model?

    • Victor

On good lenses, I get 5000-6400 very normal
      6400

  • Sergei

Used 2 years, great camera. I did not like only micro-lubrication on lenses without a stub, for example, at 85 1/8. This was one of the reasons for switching to the D500, with a lower pixel density. D500 is very satisfied.

      Great photos, thanks.

  • Victor

Thanks to Arkady for his reviews. Thanks to them, I grabbed a used D7200 with a range of 15.5K clicks and 2 lenses 18-140 and 50 1.8D. A fifty-fifty coin is generally bombing, but a bit inconvenient in focus. All happiness cost 720 eternal dead presidents plus a Benro bag as a gift. And yesterday I bought a Nikon shirik 10-20 4.5-5.6 for it. Not something awesome, but for its $ 320 filter is not bad for low ISOs up to 2000-2500. Then he begins to loosen strongly. As they say, there was no happiness, but misfortune helped. My two old Nikon D40 and D5300 stayed with my son in Kiev. Well and rfhfynby / Ghbikjcm buy used. Very satisfied
    Morning ISO 320 F8

    • .

Victor, congratulations on your successful purchase. Add to it instead of 50 / 1,8 Sigma 17-50 / 2,8 for some miserable 250-300 greens, it will sharpen the matrix and reveal it.

      • Victor

I looked at her. We have a few pieces on the secondary. In the region of 300 American rubles. But I want to get to Sigma 17-70. And I've been waiting for Yongnau 35 2.0 from China for a month. I want to try it too

  • Victor

Received today Yongnuo 35 f2F. The first is strong back focus. The second is unstable focus in Auto and S modes. B C is normal. But the drawing is very good. For unhurried shooting, very good.

    • Arkady Shapoval

The d7200 should have an autofocus sub-adjustment, does it help?

  • Victor

    Others

  • Victor

Yes of course. It helps a lot. I put it up at -15, which is a bombshell. And by trial and error, I found out that the smallest AF defect is obtained in C and A. For some reason, S has the largest number of misses

Hello! Tell me what to take for a lover (!!!) of landscapes and macro - d5300 (kit) or d7200 (body)? At the moment, both are reserved by me and are just waiting for a decision ... The price differs twice for used, but I want to take the best for many, many years. The lens is planned to be one, maximum two (in mind, the Sigma AF 18-35mm f / 1.8 will also be )

    • Ivan

The question was asked incorrectly. For landscapes and macro photography, lenses are chosen over cameras. Both cameras are not bad, 7200 is better in principle.

    • Novel

The 18-35 is not the best lens for paysay and none at all for macro photography. You can, of course, shoot landscapes on a telephoto camera, but usually on a crop it is focal in the region of 10-24, covered to a hole 8-11-16 and a tripod. In this case, the camera requirements are minimal. The 7200 is generally better and more promising - focusing points and moisture protection, of course, only a lower price and a swivel screen play for the 5300.
