  • Gandalf

    Price 1800 dollars

    • Arkady Shapoval

Fixed. Confused with the 'whale' set

  • Pokemon

Does someone in 2020 buy Mikru 4/3 for photography for $ 1800, shooting 12 (yes!) Bit RAW?
    This is absurd.

    • Ivan

Well, this is not intended for amateurs, and not from Russia. And some professional photographers love the Mikra for its compactness and low weight.

      • Pokemon

With good fast lenses, everything falls into place immediately.
I would buy myself one, this is not a problem, but to take twice a crop for the price of a good crop / 1.5 like Fuji X-T3 or ff type D750 is strange.
Yes, and adequate glass for this system is not cheap.
A terribly narrow circle of these professionals is shooting twice a crop for the price of ff.

        • Ivan

Those for whom this instance is designed do not choose based on price and do not compare the ratio of cost to matrix size.

          • Pokemon

Well, I know that Japanese housewives love mikra. So this is a camera for them)

    • Ivan

I wonder where you use your 14 bits of your RAW?
To print on photo paper in most photo labs accept 8bit jpeg
Well, you like to drag the sliders when frying your RAW, but still then save it in an 8bit jpeg and still your 14bit is not used. A + -1EV change in EXP when developing RAW is just +2 bits to an 8 bit jpeg. Total 10 bits of information on brightness.
Maybe you still need to learn to get into the expo?
Anyway, if you find a scene with a big difference in light, then even if you photograph this masterpiece, then where will you take it?
      On paper - 8bit jpg
Most TN matrices have 6-bit color.
For me, the same 12-bit RAW is not such a big drawback, in comparison with the physical dimensions of the photocell on the micra matrix.

      • Pokemon

"Most TN matrices have 6-bit color."
TN matrices are common in laptops, in office PCs, well, maybe even among gamers.
Normal people haven't had them for a long time.
It's not about how I use 14Bit Rava, but that it makes no sense to buy the worst if they offer the best for the money.

        • Ivan

Maybe you have a 10-bit IPS matrix on your calibrated monitor, I do not argue. But the vast majority of people have just the same 6bit TN matrices. And you will show your photos including on other monitors.
In my previous comment, I wanted to show that 12 bits of RAW are also redundant for 8-bit files and photo labs.
Even if in a year or two the new file format becomes popular ... a la 16bit tiff. And the matrix of monitors will be able to display such richness, then 14-bit RAW of modern FF systems and 12-bit RAW micros, both will not reach the 16-bit file format.
For me, the difference between 12 bit and 14 bit RAW is the difference in felt tip tastes and pure marketing.

          • BB

On most mid-price smartphones, starting about 5-6 years ago, IPS matrices, on laptops with a price of $ 600 - are also quite decent IPS

            • SennaTOR

I am writing from 2021. On $ 600 laptops, the IPS matrix is 45% NTSC. Even for $ 1000 on a laptop, you have to look for a more or less decent matrix.

              • Rodion

Yes, 72% NTSC only in top models. Or the old top ones.

      • Roman

Yes, elementary, even for a wedding man - a groom in a dark suit and a bride in a white dress. Landscape on a sunny day. Sunset. Even with a perfect exposure, I might just want to compress the image, and it could be the desire to tighten shadows, and the desire to tighten the lights, or both at once.

So when you put fifty light sources in order to solve exactly the same problem - to make the image less contrasting - this is normal and true. And if you try to do the same during processing - ay-ay-ay. The retoucher puts on a ton of makeup - that's true. The dresser smoothes every fold like a moron - it's rub. To do the same in five minutes in Photoshop is ay-ay-ay again.

  • Vadim

Many people have questions, who buys such cameras?
Watch the channel of the Yaroslavl photographer Vanifatyev, he chews in detail: what, why, why? He made his choice.
Arkady, can I leave a link?
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSGZRMJgUdAkOShegrNgFxQ/videos

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Of course you can

  • koba

there are test shots on dpreview, in my opinion Olympus finally managed to achieve really good shots up to ISO1600, and this is good news. This camera has a large number of advantages, even unique ones, but there is only one minute - the price, which is at the level of full-frame DSLRs or mirrorless cameras. Besides, professional Olympus lenses are too expensive.
