Because of this, was it worth inventing a new bayonet mount?
Nothing, nothing like that coming soon Canon 24-105there will be f / 7.1 (open at the long end)
On the F-mount, as an analogue, there is only an ancient 28-200 with a “screwdriver” and without a stabilizer. So it made a lot of sense, because on the Z-mount 28-200 will not have autofocus. In addition, the presence of VR hints that we are waiting for a conditional budget Z5 without a built-in stabilizer, to which this lens will perfectly fit.
With this 28-200 Tamron 28-300 PZD wipes the floor.
Sharper, lighter, with the best stub, two times cheaper.
On the F mount, as an analogue, there is not a very ancient 28-300 f / 3.5-5.6 VR with a built-in focus motor and a stabilizer.
And against its background, 24-200 looks like a misunderstanding.
28-300 merges new 24-200. 24-200 is lighter and sharper. If that my 28-300 is calibrated in the corporate service, but still worse than 24-200.
As an analogue, Nikon has the Z 28-400
As an analogue, Nikon has Z 28-400 and 28-300 against its background, an even greater misunderstanding)))
I have a Z5, and it is with matrix stabilization. Perhaps the Z50 was meant?
Is it supposed to be so dark on the long end for the sake of compact size?
Exactly. And I am more and more inclined to believe that both the efficiency of the stub and the amount of energy that the stub eats also depends on the size of the lens.
What irony)
What's the difference, well, it would be f5.6 at the long end - the difference is from 6.3 to half a stop, it doesn't weather either by blur or by shutter speed, besides, it has a stub.
Not half a stop, but a third.
This is a travel zoom, so everything is fine)
bought it yesterday. despite the fairly “budget” look, the sharpness at first glance (from one shot) is not worse than that of the 24-70.
very similar in size and shape to 24-70, both at position 24 and at position 70.
interestingly, the smaller the diameter for the filter (i.e. the front lens). for 24-70 - 72mm, for this (24-200) - 200mm.
Something reminded of how long ago in DX-s the 18-200 was very similar to the “elongated” 18-70.
Thanks for your feedback.
It would be interesting to listen to the review, because there are zero of them in Runet.
Nope, the filter diameter of 200mm is a bit too much :)
