Another dark zoom with horse price tag? What kind of mod went to do for the BZK first zooms with 6.3 (Nikkor Z 16-50 / 3.5-6.3 VR), now 7.1? On the street in 2020, and the aperture is lower and lower. But you could already create something more logical.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Fashion started back on Sony in 2015 with the release of Sony FE 3.5-6.3 / 24-240 OSS.
And Nikkor Z 16-50 / 3.5-6.3 VR is generally a crop lens, there too Sony was a pioneer with the Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS back in 2010 (10 years ago).

      • Serhiy Todoriuk

f7.1 at 500mm is far from the worst aperture, the size of the front lens will be 500 / 7,1 = 70mm which is pretty impressive. You can also recall MTO500 which, with horse size, has f8, and given its essence, it is even darker in reality.

        • Michael

Well, you can still remember the tsarist times) And so, the same ancient sigma 150-500 has 6.3 at the long end

          • Serhii

The Canon 100-400 at the long end has 5.6 which corresponds to the same 71mm aperture. Just with 100-500 focal points added.

            • Michael

Things are a little more complicated. It is also unknown what the aperture will be at 400mm. Plus the 100-400 lens isn't very new. On the same canon r, it is already 30 megapixels - the open aperture is close to the diffraction limit, but what will happen next?

  • Anton

    pick up!

    • Iskander

nibibe! And then he will take you! Almost Nietzsche :-)

  • Roman

Also 67 mm, judging by the proportions? If so, then the extra 100 mm at the far end in comparison with the 100-400 price of smaller sizes are justified.

An interesting trend and clearly makes sense. In the past, dark lenses were limited to autofocus performance. Now that there are clear improvements in this parameter, plus it is possible to adjust the exposure compensation to see the image, so to speak, in the true exposure ... I am starting to feel.

  • Ololoyev

Arkady, confused by the wording of "full-frame mirrorless lens".
Perhaps something like “a lens for a full-frame mirrorless system…” would be correct?

  • koba

Interestingly, did the fluorite glass leave it removed?

  • Michael

f / 7.1 is now a tradition and a new standard?)) So you can get to the classification of bright zooms 70-200 4-5.6)

    • Arkady Shapoval

For super telephoto, a small aperture at the long end is common. This is not 24-105 / 4-7,1, but still 100-500

      • Michael

In the mirrored segment at 500 mm 5.6-6.3 the norm was

        • Roman

          86 mm filter

  • Alexander

The developers considered that with the current photosensitivity of the sensors, the f7.1 aperture would not be a problem.

  • TSerg

Yes, it looks like Kenon will have a new standard for zooms on mirrorless cameras. Everything fits in with those who are dark, cheap and simple, but not light-powerful. And pіpl z "іst і also. Well, the price that will drink will be peace))

    • Roman

And bright zooms are big and heavy. Bigger and heavier than light fixes. Because the laws of optics. And Canon would be happy, but only few wanting for some reason.

  • Roman

Hm. I tried several times to repost and do not see my comments.

This is, in fact, a "refinement" of the lens 100-400 / 4.5 - 5.6, quite popular and good for the RF mount. In order to keep the size of the filter at 77 mm in width, the aperture cannot exceed 7.1. And due to the smaller flange distance, you can add an extra 100 mm and keep the same lens length (well, it may increase slightly). That is, in fact, we get the same 100-400 with a focal length increased by 100 mm. But this lens was already used quite often with the 1.4 teleconverter, which turns it into 140-560 / 6.3-8, and this did not bother anyone. Here you have everything the same, no teleconverter, 4.5 at the wide end, 7.1 at the long end and still not so ...

  • Roman

Damn, Arkady, why some of my comments do not pass?

  • Roman

I read Kanonspletni, they promise interesting things this year:

    10-24 / 4L is even cooler than 11-24 / 4L. I suspect it's about as expensive :)

    50 / 1.8 IS STM Macro - it's already interesting
    85 / 1.8 IS STM - and that.

That is, we improve what we have (we turn 100-400 into 100-500, 11-24 into 10-24, we attached it to 50 macro with a stub, 85 just a stub), and we clearly divide the budget line and pro.

  • Nicholas

Hello everybody. I read the comments, and as I understand, all the commentators did not hold this lens in their hands. And reasoning, especially negative, is above the roof. I am a Nikon. For more than a year I have had a nikon 200-500 with F / 5/6 along its entire length. Happy as an elephant. The 7.1 is not too bad for the new lens. Did any of the commentators try to calculate the depth of field at 500mm and 10 meters - like a piece of paper and you think to hit the eye? haha 3 times. Also, my fool has a 92mm front lens and it weighs a lot. A 7.1 comfort and convenience. On a good carcass, you can always increase the ISO. Go for it, don't whine.
PS The laws of physics (optics) have not been canceled yet. Otherwise, IFONE is in your hands.

    • B. R. P.

A kind man, no one has ever held him in his hands. Read carefully the title of the article: "ANNOUNCEMENT: DEVELOPMENT, etc." Thanks for showing off your lens.

      • Nicholas

Dear B.R.P. - You are always welcome. It's not about “bragging” - I've lived through it a long time ago, and one should brag about pictures, not equipment. I wanted to convey the idea that no one has yet succeeded in surpassing the laws of optics, and if you want a big hole with a large focal length, you will have to pay for it and not only with money - the size of the front lens is one, the weight is two, the total size - three. My question was - do YOU need it ???. And of course the money - Sigma 500 F / 2.8 - $ 25,999.00 on bhphotovideo right now? How do you like it? Ready?
Using my lens, I covered the diaphragm, and then, from about a hundred shots, I came to sharpness, where I wanted to be maybe 15-20 times, the birds didn’t want to pose, they were very bright. I doubt very much that you can achieve more. And for a photo of stationary objects, this is not important at all.
        Good luck with your research.

        • B. R. P.

))) Gracias Y buena suerte con tus esfuerzos. )))

        • Alex

And what is wrong with the DOF at 10 meters at f / 5.6 at 500mm? Or are you shooting dragons?
The fact that the phase sensors of the camera are mistaken, as a result of which we get the front, back, shift focus, we forget. Similar lenses on the BZK lack of depth of field and hit exactly in the eye.

          • Nicholas

In theory, Alekh, you are right - 13cm. Look at nuthatch - photo 1.
Birdie 5-7 centimeters. DOF is clearly visible on a stump.
The next picture shows the Black-necked toadstool. The whole “dragon” did not enter the IPF. His eye, unfortunately, is not in the center of the body.
