Without the new matrix from the 90D, somehow the upgrade is not felt compared to the 800D.

    • Ivan Shikhalev

They write about focusing on the face through the JVI. So there is a difference.

      • Oleg

There is something even sad about this: to implement two completely unrelated, but both quite advanced focusing systems. Moreover, according to the 90D review on DPReview, tracking autofocus is already even more stable in liveview mode.
So there is a feeling that the line of cropped Canon SLRs is losing its meaning, personally for me a certain M5 / M50 Mark II would be more desirable. At the same time, the mirror of course still holds a position in the professional segment in the form of reporter cameras.

Here ergonomics count from 77d. For me, ideal in management.
There was a Canon m6, a great camera, but a little small, constantly experiencing discomfort in use.
If you take the UPC, then with the ergonomics of the Fujifilm X-H1 level.
There remains one BIG problem with the Canon EF-S system - no crop lenses, trouble.
At least 50mm 1.4 would have been released ...

          • Ivan Shikhalev

            Still from 800D.

            • Michael

No, you are mistaken, added one more back control dial + AF-ON button.
We have 2 twists + an ISO button, which gives operational control of the expo pair and quick access to the ISO, lepota =)
Ergonomics in the end is almost like that of the 77d, with the exception of the upper LCD screen, which is not really needed.

              • Ivan Shikhalev

Hmm, really ... True, besides the top screen, there is also a mode dial - the 77D has a lock so that it does not accidentally scroll when turned on / off.

The carcasses are stamped, but the optics were scored on the crop. In addition to 17-50 2,8 what else aperture released? Nothing

    • Michael

We need to create a petition, let them resume the production of optics for EF-S.
It will come in handy in the future when crop matrices catch up with the current level of FF matrices.

      • Arkady Shapoval

EF-S is released by third-party manufacturers, Canon is sure to completely stop updating the EF-S line

        • Michael

Yes, most likely it is. It's sad of course.
From a marketing point of view, it may make sense for them to produce EF-M lenses instead of EF-S, because in this case you can’t put a new lens on the old carcass and you will have to buy a new Canon M camera.

With EFM, the situation is not much better

the APC-c camera market is gradually shifting to Fujifilm and Sony. Nikon will have his other businesses such as proctoscopes and binoculars, and Kenon will somehow survive and take the position of the current Pentax, that is, an outsider, he will justify the adage “from the great to the ridiculous, just one step” (Pentax was once the market leader as well).

    • Joe

What are your conclusions based on? In particular, where did you get the idea that Canon will have to "somehow survive"? For Canon, all cameras with all lenses are a small fraction of the business. At the end of 2019, everything related to photo and video, together with photo printers, scanners, projectors and calculators, is only 25,5% of sales, that is, it is photographic equipment that probably accounts for 10-15 percent of the business, in best case. Canon can shut down all photography-related directions right now and feel great. But so far there are no prerequisites for this, because Canon's photographic equipment is quite in demand.
The market for cameras with crop matrices in the future is not at all very interesting direction - the further, the more competition with smartphones on it. As seen in Canon's efforts to develop the R-mount full-frame mirrorless system, mirror crop is not a priority. Probably, this direction will be supported for some time, but we can hardly expect its significant development.
Why you mention Pentax in the context of business success is generally unknown - this is not a company, unlike the mentioned Canon, Fujifilm or Sony, but a trademark.
What you measure leadership or outsider, it is impossible to understand from your message.
For example, Arri's revenues are 200 times lower than Sony's, and there is no point in comparing sales in units - compared to Sony, the number of Arri cameras sold is simply negligible. So they are outsiders? But if you look at what the Oscar-winning films are made, it turns out that there are almost only Arri, but not a single Sony camera. So Sony are outsiders? By what criterion do you measure success?

    Sony will eat everyone)

    • Michael

Only if they update their strange menu and ergonomics tightened)
