    Winter evening. January 2018
I often take my camera with me on walks. Sometimes I also take to work, because early in the morning you can also catch an excellent plotter. Actually, I shoot with Nikon D7000, but it's not very convenient to carry it to work, so I throw a Canon powershot G9 “soap box” into my pocket and go with the song! (fortunately, he even removes in RAV) But that morning was gray and dull, despite the fact that there was a lot of snow.
But in the evening, already returning from work, I just got on a time when it was still a little light and had already turned on the lights around the city. And now passing through the park I saw this wonderful picture, it seems that during the day even more snow was attacking ...
It is clear that I could not miss it.
Well, I decided to try this shot at the competition. Although the photos from that evening there are no longer even knew what to choose.

Hello everyone from Bulgaria! This photo was taken in December 2019 in the central square of the city of Ruse, Bulgaria. The Freedom Monument, which is dedicated to the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878, was photographed. The picture was taken late in the evening. There was a big fog that beautifully isolated the monument and created an enchanting atmosphere. I used an old Nikon D60 camera with a Nikkor AF-C VR 18-55 1: 3,5-5,6 kit lens. Shutter Priority S was used as the shooting method. The lens hood was closed down to 16 to sharpen the landscape. The exposure value was the maximum for my camera - 30 seconds. A tripod was used. I am an enthusiastic photographer. I've been shooting with a DSLR camera for ten years. I try to learn and develop. I have experience in reportage photography. I also shoot with Nikon D5300. From this site I learned a lot of useful tips and valuable information. This is a real encyclopedia for me, and I am very glad that I found it. This year I will try to switch to a more professional photographic technique - a Full Frame multi-prime camera with artistic capabilities.

Milen, just not a hood, but a diaphragm.

I missed saying that I shot in RAW format at ISO 100. I slightly corrected it in Adobe Lightroom.

Returning home from a photo walk, I heard the sound of an approaching train. It was heard from the side of the railway bridge over the river. Realizing that such a moment should not be lost, I went down to the shore, quickly adjusted my camera and began to wait for my “prey”. The result made me very happy!

    Lonely swing. January 2020
I got out of the house, took with me a Nikkon D5600 camera with an 18-55mm whale lens and decided to take a walk to the promenade, I gained the camera not so long ago and actually haven’t accumulated experience as such when you are in the process of finding a good shot, you are distracted from working days and see the world is different when you look at it through the viewfinder of the camera.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Indeed, seeing the world differently is difficult. It takes a lot of photographers a long time to develop the “right” vision that helps create a good shot. The sense of taste comes even later. Many (or almost all) photographers go through these stages.

As for this photo, it does not have any pronounced signs of a good photo: a weak plot, poor composition, and a weak technical component.

In order. The plot - the "bench / swing" does not tell us anything and does not give us any food for thought.
Composition also prevents you from going deep into photography. A shop and a shop. Cold, winter, shop / swing without people. Photo can be signed “Swing for sale, state in the photo”.

The bottom of the swing is cut, this is a gross and unacceptable mistake. The inscription on the bench is not readable. Only successful photographers can sign photos in capital letters # PRO_100_FOTO, beginners from this look pretty ridiculous (a commonplace and frequent mistake of many, including I had this many years ago)

And the little things: the photo has a cold, repulsive tone. Itself is also filled with black, dark and gray colors, which also repels the viewer from it.

Of course, perhaps other users / photographers will find strengths in this photo. In any case, thanks for participating and for wanting to develop in photography :)

"He frowned ..." The photo was taken in Kerch on 07.01.2019. Nikon D750, 24-120 / 4. iso 100, f4,5, 1 / 80s. The photo was in Kamjepeg + Nik Collection. Snow is a rare phenomenon in our country, this year has not yet happened ... (

    • Andrew Ch.

      Sorry, 2018.

  • Andrew Ch.

I know that you need to send an ode to the photo, but I really want a winter fairy tale ...) Nikon D750 + 24-120 / 4, iso 100, f4,5, 1 / 250s. Nik Collection Filmed on 07.01.2018 in Kerch.

    All the same, 2019)))

    And still seeds?
The photo was taken in early January of this year in the Ala-Archa Nature Park, Kyrgyzstan. Due to the fact that the main visitors to the park are climbers from the CIS countries who love to feed local animals and birds, all this living creature can afford to eat with it and even get a little impudent :). Photo taken on Nikon D7100 and 70-300 VR lens

    • Irina Kolosova

Oh! What a success! Great shot! I love such good moments for the photo.

  • Semen

Photo taken in a short amount of time. when gleams appeared in the sky among gray, lead clouds. The photo shows three generations of bridges across the river in the Vladimir region. The photo was taken on January 1, 2020 on a Nikon D750 camera and a Nikon 14-24 2.8 lens. Photo settings aperture f8, shutter speed 1/60, iso 200. Photo taken with hands, without a tripod.

    • Arkady Shapoval

You requested to comment on this photo.
The plot is rather poorly traced. You need to peer for a long time to understand what is actually photographed here. Either a destroyed bridge, or a pier, or some other structure. Usually, if the photo is interesting, then long-term consideration and analysis for the photo is only beneficial. In this case, long-term analysis of photography does not lead to deepening into photography, to enjoyment and “experience” of photography. So it remains a mystery what it is, why it is here and why someone should like it.
The composition is also not expressed. There are no stress points (what catches).
Winter themes are not directly related to the plot. Whether it was summer or autumn, this would not have changed the situation.
There are also technical errors: the horizon line is in the center, this is considered the most “primitive” type of landscape, which divides the photo into only 2 planes: conventional earth and sky, and noticeably loses to “multi-layered” and “multi-layered” landscapes. Here in the competition was presented a wonderful example of a multi-faceted landscape ( link).
Ultimately, the artistic value of photography is small, the photo is not related to landscape photography, but to documentary (we were here and just reliably captured the environment), which is of little interest at such competitions.
Maybe someone will complement me. I apologize if I made a mistake somewhere. In the world of photography, the perception of a picture can grow and change over time.

      • Semen

Thank you so much. The horizon in the middle, unfortunately, is dictated by the gradient filter, which for this lens I have only one ... the sky in this case is darkened by about two stops in relation to the bottom of the image.

        • Arkady Shapoval

The gradient worked poorly, its work is not visible at all, most likely due to unfavorable shooting conditions. The sky almost began to "knock out" in the lights. This plot, I think, could be transformed into a hard hdr landscape, then it would immediately emphasize the “hard” logs, and the general devastation in the frame. Although personally I do not like this :)

          • Semen

This is very valuable! In fact, I also try not to remove “dirt”, there is a lot of it everywhere. But seeing something good is valuable. In fact, I wanted to show not the devastation as such, but the cyclical nature of development. In the background, barely visible remains of the first bridge can be seen. In the middle plan, there is a bridge that I found in my childhood, we practically lived on it - both swimming and fishing, and with the collective farmers rode to the meadow, and this bridge served as a stop. In the foreground is a new bridge, which has also already settled, but has become useless. Such is the nostalgia, chtoli.

Sometimes, when the technological regimes of electrolysis are violated, silver begins to recover at the cathode in the form of a dendrites - aggregates of crystals of irregular shape, often resembling twigs of a tree ... Which happens to me from time to time :) For the first time, silver dendrites turned out on New Year's Eve back in 2016, which gave several interesting thematic New Year's photos ... Then I first encountered the problem of photographing objects, mirror reflecting light with many facets ... It is very difficult to “catch” the light and at the same time convey the shape of the crystals ...
    I bring to your attention a fresh photo of such dendrites. Parameters: Kenon 80d, Tamron 18-400, ISO 400, f / 6,3, 1/60 sec, 400 mm ...

    "Behind the Scenes of Dawn"
This picture was taken last winter, in one of the sorties after a frosty dawn. The location is located in the city of Kazan, pos. Northern. Atmospheric haze is created by a small stream, which does not freeze all year round, and is wrapped in steam on frosty days. Taken from a tripod on the Nikon d800, Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4, aperture near f11-13.

At the very beginning of his photographic life (2016) ... Nikon D5100 + 18-55 + PS (LR). I was filming my wife across the street from the house, near the entrance of the plant. There are three fir trees growing there. (Poltava, Hrushevsky St.). There was a lot of snow that winter. It turned out like in the forest.
Bastard from this photo, bastard from his wife ...

I read about the "freshness" of the photo too late ... But I still like the frame.

Hello! I want to share a photo that I took almost by accident.
On the evening of December 23, 2018, looking out the window, I saw a beautiful picture with a full moon. By installing the camera on a tripod on the balcony, connecting the remote control and not looking at the settings took a picture. The shutter speed seemed too long, 15 seconds. He began to change the settings and take other frames. Only 10 pcs. After viewing on a computer, it turned out that the first frame is the best.

All goodness and prosperity! I must say right away that I am a photographer, I don’t make money in this field, but I just adore the process of photographing! A couple of years ago, I bought Helios 40-2. Well, the first is clear. frosty morning put him on a Nikon D750 camera and in a vegetable garden. There was a lot of frost on the grass that morning, I fell on my stomach and crawled ... Nothing sensible came out right away. But then I got the hang of it and got this shot ... .. Two years have passed and Helios 40-2 is rarely removed from the camera in my backpack! Many things, shot on it, have already taken part in various competitions ... But this shot is favorite - it is the first. Processed in Photoshop Camera RAW.

  • Julia

This photo was taken on January 21, 2020. on a Canon 650D camera and a Helios 44-2, 7 macro ring lens during my lunch break. The size of a snowflake is 1-2mm, I saw it among a pile of falling flakes. I am not a professional photographer, just a amateur photographer. Parameters: 5.6f 1/100, ISO 800, with hands.

    • Irina Kolosova

How I love macro ... to see beauty in the eye of a needle))) ... my lens does not allow this ... You did a great job!

      • Julia

Helios old tip lens adapter adapter to almost any camera can be put) try, maybe your camera also has such an opportunity.
