    Photo taken in November 2016. Nikon D3200 + 18-55 f / 3.5 1/250 ISO 100
The first snow was marked by fog, manna from heaven and complete calm. The place is widely known in Minsk, a public park with artificial water drops, and curves.
Ducks, seeing a man with a camera and realizing that nothing shines on them, culturally sailed away so as not to spoil the shot. There was no processing as such, in Capture-NX2, lights and shadows were regulated, the rest in Color Efex Pro 3.0 Traditional (B / W convertion)

“What is the most tenacious parasite? Bacterium? Virus? Intestinal worm? Idea. She is tenacious and extremely infectious. Once the idea takes over the brain, it is almost impossible to get rid of it. " Feature film Beginning.

I don’t know at what moment (maybe taking out Christmas toys from my closet next to my father’s Zeniths), the idea “I want a camera for myself” was born. The idea stuck in my head for a couple of days very tightly, sorting through all the pros and cons in my head I decided I would go and buy what I like. Absolutely not understanding this topic, my choice fell on the Nikon D3500. Only then I realized that there would be difficulties in adapting my father’s lenses to Nikon, but all this was later. Having arrived home, he began to read diligently how to use this new “tsatskoy”, after a heap of information went to bed. In the morning he almost dressed and ran and went outside to do "masterpieces".
It was a year ago. And here is one of these "masterpieces":

  • Gregory

    Winter, city ...
    Canon PowerShot A580

    • Arkady Shapoval

How do you like it, Henry?

      • Gregory

The truth is impartial (c) Everything should be “mi-mi-mi”? Ok, delete.

      • Alex

        It’s rather Andy Warhol. :)

    • Oleg

It’s not only snow, it’s also knee-deep mud

Isn't this the life of those same Homo Sapiens? Here are the ones that teach the children: "The hostess threw the bunny ..." And further lies, lies, lies. As a result, planet Earth will get rid of this unworthy biological species.

        • Arkady Shapoval

The late George Carling said that the Earth gave birth to people to make her plastic, she really needs plastic. And after that you can get rid of people.

Thanks. I did not know anything about him, I will look and read. We all fly to the “Great Void” for recycling. Despite all this (we will fly, we will not fly), I want to thank you, Arkady, for the site. This is a whole Photo Encyclopedia, which I have been using for a long time!

"They wander endlessly around the world, honking somewhere in the distance, rumble on their winding rails ..."
The frame was taken on January 5, 2020. Filmed from a pedestrian bridge on Nikon D300s and Sigma 17-50 / 2.8, while waiting for the first train for about 20 minutes. I love the motive of the road in photography, so I often take such shots. This photo does not seem to me to be any unique, but it reminds me of some Soviet postcard - with the same lonely train, rushing somewhere in emptiness and winter whiteness. I have other similar shots, but this one seems to me something special. Perhaps the key lies in the fact that the geometry of the train, wires and rail is clearly traced here - they are like a single whole.

Hello Arkady and all the participants in such a wonderful project. Happy New Year! I wish you all success, health, love, prosperity.
So I decided to write a few deadlines in the form of a comment. To say that I especially need a lens, so no, I just want to say a few kind words to both the organizer and the participants.
Arkady has a special respect for an interesting and useful site and a low bow for considerable work!
Thanks to the participants for their beautiful photos, especially the landscapes. Shoot, enjoy your work and bring joy to other people, you can do it well.
Unfortunately, I can’t boast of anything like that, due to the failure of the hard drive, I lost 70 percent of the photos, which is sad, albeit not fatal. What most disappointed was the loss of nature photos. Of course, some of the photos were preserved in classmates and VKontakte, but this is not so interesting. Dear friends, so that you do not have such problems, keep copies of your pictures on other media so that there is no bitterness for lost photos. Good luck everyone!

  • Peter Sh.

    Well, then I will add.
Happy holiday to all! Although past, but it is not easy. So you can still congratulate.

The first of December last year.
The first fishing on ice, the first hour after dawn. The fog is leaving. A lone fisherman is already sitting on the ice.

The first of January of the new year.
A photohunt in the morning after a banquet.
Bullfinches eat up on the mountain ash, well-fed sit in the Christmas trees.

Shot on the Nikon D3300 + Nikkor 55-200

    • Sergei

I apologize, I did not immediately see that you can only have one photo per participant. For the competition I would like to leave the first photo "from fishing". The bullfinch can be removed. :)

      • Arkady Shapoval

This will be taken into account. Let the photos remain :)

  • Alexandra Ignatiev

Photo taken in March last year in St. Petersburg. This was my second week in this city, and a friend took me to the Lakhtinsky spill. In those days it was cold and frosty, from time to time it was snowing and a strong piercing wind was blowing.

I took a lot of shots and we were already leaving, but then I turned around and saw this man confidently walking on the ice. At that moment, I realized that this is the frame for which we traveled so far.

I quickly took my Nikon D7000 from Nikkor 18-140 out of my backpack, took a couple of shots, and we went to warm up in the nearest shopping center.

    • Catherine

      Great, beautiful frame!

      • Alexandra Ignatiev

        Thank you!

My best friend and roommate is Solomon. Photo taken 06.01.2020/7/2. Technique: Sony A50 mk1.4 + Minolta MD XNUMXmm F XNUMX. The story is simple - I decided to clean up the apartment a little and put the cat's scratching post on a stool close to the tree, so as not to interfere with vacuuming. While I pulled the vacuum cleaner out of the pantry, the cat perched on this structure. Since I don't have external flashes, I asked my parents to light the cat with the flashes of their mobile phones. The shot came out in a hurry, but I really like it. Of course, I would like to shoot something winter on the street too, but you yourself know what winter we have in Ukraine now - sheer gray and mud.

  • Igor

Such a winter! Insects, buds, flowers.

    "Girl in the Woods"
    Winter 2019

Photo taken in Zaporozhye. In our city, since we are located farther south, snow is not a frequent occurrence) and in this regard, as soon as snow falls, I quickly implement the ideas prepared in advance. So it was this time. Masha did an excellent job).
I used a telephoto lens nikkor 80-200 f2.8D - I like the lens for its constant aperture throughout the entire focal length, nice bokeh.
My camera settings, which I used to create this portrait - aperture f 3.2, shutter speed - 1 \ 500, ISO - 320, focal length - 185mm, it is at this focal length, for my taste, that beautiful portraits at open aperture are obtained.
I wish you all good luck in the competition)

I have not seen such a snowfall for a long time ... Snowflakes quietly whirled and lay right in the palms ... so defenseless and perfect in shape ... they immediately melted ... It was decided to capture their beauty. At hand for macro shooting was the usual whale Nikkor 18-55 and a reverse adapter ... I set up the synchronizers and flash and let's shoot beauty))) Whether it came out or not, you can judge ... But this year there were no such snowflakes ... The photo was taken in winter 18 th ...

In my opinion it turned out cool!

Nikon D3200 + 50mm 1,8. photo taken in Sumy district. Exactly a year ago. There was a lot of snow last year. Often, when I walk my dog, I take a camera with me. And this time I managed to take such a picture when he became forepaws on the passage of a small fence in the territory of the old, closed kindergarten.

November 22. Year 2019 in human terms. Morning. The night was rainy. It should be dirty and nasty on the street. I don’t feel like crawling out from under the covers. I want some coffee.

The black. Fragrant. Delicious. Pew, listening to the Japanese the pillows.

I go out into the street. No dirt. Not nasty. Frost. Flowing from the roof, rainwater froze right on the plants, creating something like a natural cryochamber. I return to the house, take a camera, and leave to create new creations.

Equipment - Canon Rebel XTI with kit lens EF-S 15-55. The possible choice of backgrounds, consisting of a gate, a car, a wall and something else, did not satisfy me. Yes, and the photo turns out to be gray, uninteresting. Therefore, it was decided to black out the background by closing the aperture to f / 20, lowering the ISO sensitivity to 100, and turning on the flash-out flash. The angle decided to choose such that the yellowed bush would fall into the frame in the background. So the weed will not feel lonely. I processed it in darktable, and in Photoshop I shaded some mushroom-shaped thing with a black brush, otherwise it got in the way.

And the name of the photo is banal - “Frosen”.

PS I threw the photo on other sites. But RAW with metadata just in case there is :)

Two garlands, two homemade Christmas trees made of paper and tinsel, a gingerbread house made of fix price, a folding star made of foil, a box with old Christmas balls - you're done! New Year Universe on your window. Reflection in a three-layer glass of a plastic window will give a tripling of lights and volumetric space. I just had to “turn on” the photographer, get the Lensbaby Muse’s creative lens with manual focus, the tilt effect and the “star” shaped aperture, and “see” in this installation either tulips, now spaceships, star trails and prominences. Photoproject “Universe”. Vorkuta, December 2019. “Supernova Explosion”

I’m adding a photo not to participate in the competition, but to make it clear where it was shot. Nikon D610, Lensbaby Muse.

It's strange, it seems like there was a “New Year” photography contest, which is why I put up a thematic photo. And now I see "winter" ... And I look down. %)))))

        • Michael

          New Year comes in winter)

        • Arkady Shapoval

It seemed to you. It was originally a winter photograph. New Year's theme partially overlaps with winter

          • Olga Makukha

This means that I saw what I wanted to see. Then I will post these photos in the comments to the long-standing review on Lensbaby Mews, where I already wrote about a similar lens from this manufacturer - Composer Pro.

A memorable photo for me. End of March 2018, Northern Black Sea Region. The buds on the trees were about to bloom, when suddenly the leader of one country announced the "Screw up" action. God heard and “screwed” :) Canon SX530 HS ultrasound. I hope the admin doesn't consider this NSFW content :)

Nikon D7200, Nokor 18-140, f10, 1/250. Winter, frosty morning in Chisinau, everything was covered with hoarfrost. The series has more photos but this one seemed to me more successful, the processing is minimal in ACDSee.

March last year. Dniester estuary. The ice has already melted. I am talking with a friend on the shore, two guys and a girl come up (a little drunk). One of the guys went out on the ice, walked and returned to the shore. The girl decided that she could too. But the whole joke was that her boots were on stiletto heels, which greatly increases the pressure on the ice. The guys told her not to go out on the ice, but how can they do it, but she can't ?! Anticipating the upcoming event, I quickly uncovered the camera and made several shots in the continuous shooting mode, this most dramatic one. He called "the rescue of drowning people - the work of the drowning themselves"
