It so happened that in May last year, on a water trip along the Pshekha River, a case with my camera opened on the doorstep, and my Nikon d7000 with a pair of lenses sank into the abyss ...
But in the fall, when our team gathered in the forest to celebrate the completion and successful defense of another campaign, my friends gave me a Nikon d5600 and several lenses, including a 35mm f / 1.8G AF-S DX.
In late November, frost hit the Moscow Region, although there was still no snow, and, deciding not to miss this opportunity, I ran into the forest with new photographic equipment.
Frost transformed everything around: he chained the ponds with thick ice, and covered all the vegetation with intricate patterns of frost - I wanted to stop at every blade of grass and twigs and shoot “ice flowers”.

The photo was taken exactly one year ago - January 9, 2019.
Olympus E-PM, Panasonic 20 mm f / 1.7 lens. If you need more accurate data from the exe (the original is lying around somewhere, everything is shabby in this jpeg), I can look later.
Filmed in my hometown. The image shows the main attraction and the most coveted object in the 2008-2012 cut.

Just walked by. Filmed in late autumn 2019 in RAW mode on the phone. I didn’t use any specific tricks, I decided to just share it, because, as for me, it conveys the atmosphere of this time of the year well.

  • Leonid N

Taken 02.01.2020, Nikon D7100, Nikon whale zoom 18-55 mm 3.5-5.6G VR

Shooting in Raw, shutter speed 1/10, aperture 4.90 (is there such a "non-standard" number?), ISO 800, white balance - auto, focal 34 mm, conversion and processing - Luminar 4. I'm just learning the camera, that's why it's so long the shutter speed turned out by accident - apparently there was shutter speed priority, but there is no blur (the VR of the lens and the rest of the elbows are the cameras). I saw the installation on the holiday table and decided to practice shooting with manual focus.

    • Leonid N

Taken in the light of a garland.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, such aperture values for some cameras with some lenses happen, especially if the exposure step is 1/2.

  • Sergei

The photo was taken at the beginning of 2018. In my opinion, it fits perfectly into this contest, because in addition to the themes of winter and New Year, there is also the topic of photography)
To the existing figures, a camera with a tripod was made from improvised materials. At Santa, the bell that was there was cut out from an outstretched hand. In the background is a garland, polystyrene is crumbled to simulate snow) The lighting in the room was turned off, the stage was illuminated with a smartphone flashlight.
From processing: cropping, a bit of expo-color correction, retouching.
    Shot on a Fujifilm X-T2 with a 16-55 lens.

      • Ivan

Tyumen region is large, where exactly?

        • Catherine

          Tobolsk

          • Ivan

I was there. Beautiful old Russian Siberian city. And I also lived for several years in the taiga, in the middle, between Tyumen and Tobolsk, near the Abaevsky junction, if you know such a railway station.

Photography is a lifestyle for me. The photo was taken in January 2020, it was a wonderful winter day, I decided to walk through the fields and forests, in search of magical moments that I want to share with others. The technique that helped me take this photo is nikond3s + nikon 20-25 f2.8, I don't remember any other perimeter. By the way, a wonderful camera and lens.

    • Catherine

      Is it bw?

    • Andrii

      sorry) was wrong, nikon 20-35 f 2.8

For obvious reasons, this year's winter photos are tense, so I post a relatively old photo (15/12/2018). Taken with the Fujifilm X-M1 and Fujinon 27mm F / 2.8. Soft shadowless lighting and bright spots on a flat white background seemed interesting in the scene. It reminded me of some paintings by Peter Bruegel (please forgive me for being immodest :).
I shot it in Raw, how it was processed, I don’t remember. Crop, that's for sure, and seems to have removed something superfluous.

“In the embrace of snowy silence” Russia, January 2019. St. John the Theologian monastery in the village of Poshupovo. Once upon a time, little Seryozha Yesenin also attended services in the monastery, who was brought here on pilgrimage by his grandmother from the neighboring village of Konstantinovo. They say that, sailing by on the Oka, the first and beloved wife of Ivan the Terrible, Anastasia, gave birth. And as a token of gratitude, the already crumbling old monastery was marked by royal favor. The monks, having received a lot of money, were able to rebuild in a new place - where the monastery still stands today. In 1237, Batu turned Ryazan to ashes, but the St. John the Theologian monastery left untouched ... he was very superstitious. For me, this is a place of Power. I started filming this episode in 2017. By the end of 2018, I had made five attempts, but in vain. The winter of the 18th was mixed. Wind, cloudiness and lack of snow were not in my hands. I needed a soft mode light at an angle that I dreamed of. In 2019, on the fifth attempt, I almost succeeded in realizing my plan, but the range with minimal cloudiness, about 10%, did not satisfy me. The morning of January 9th was kind to me and I was able to wait and catch the right accent. Nikon D7200 + Nikkor 24-120 / 4 + Cokin gradient with smooth transition and two stops compensation. Manfrotto 290 tripod, Nikon cable release.

Enviable persistence! Are the eight-hundred-year-old ruins still preserved in this form?

      • Eugene

Of course not! This is the scenery)

    • Oleg

Yes, this is the case when much coincided, the light is simply amazing

      • Eugene

Thank you Oleg! Glad you were touched! Have a great day!

Winters this year in Latvia did not work. New Year looked like in the photo :)) This is a beach in Tui, near Estonia. Nikon D600 camera, Tamron 70-210mm F / 4 Di VC USD lens.

Photography almost without retouching, nature did everything herself :)

ps I downloaded a photo from my phone, there were two choices of size - 9MB and what was flooded. Hopefully of adequate quality.

  • Oleg

Well, probably this one, not so often winter spoils. Kenon 10-18

The photo was taken last winter while walking along the banks of the Dnieper, Zaporozhye. These cats live on a small peninsula, near the boat station. They are constantly fed by fishermen.
I'm not counting on winning this competition, cats are all terrible bad manners. I just wanted to share it, it turned out a funny picture, in my opinion. Nikon D300s camera, Tokina AF 100mm f / 2,8 AT-X Pro Macro lens. About 30 pictures were taken, everyone went to the basket, except for this one and another, also interesting.

    • Oleg

oh yes, the photo is called “Back / Front” :)

      • Catherine

        Yes, an interesting shot.

    Shot with a Nikon D 90 AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f / 3.5-5.6G IF-ED [II] ISO 400 f8 1 / 60s flash, processed in PS

The photo was taken in Penza, on the embankment of the Sputnik district (where I live nearby) in January 2018. It was shot with my first camera - Nikon d3000, which I learned to shoot, and with the then recently acquired Nikkor 50mm 1.8g lens.
This place has always been for me a kind of "testing ground" for photography, where you can take just a bunch of interesting pictures, walking along the embankment around.
At that time, I shot mainly in a jeep, I really loved the aperture priority mode - A. I was not particularly fond of processing or did it not very meaningfully) I knew about the horizon and the rule of thirds from the composition rules)
The photo is nostalgic in nature: on an old camera, optionally shoot in winter in the cold (which I have less and less now))
Now I work with a completely different technique, of a different level and less and less I take pictures of nature. I’ll attach this picture of 18, it blows dry frost and mood) (or am I too lazy to do something new like this now?))

This is a lichen-Kladonia that grows on stones and stumps. When there are many of them, such an alien landscape is obtained. Photographed in Priozersk District of the Leningrad Region on January 04, 2020. There is almost no snow in the forest today, only pieces of ice. Panasonic GX800 camera, Helios 44 lens and extension rings.
