Comments: 36, on the topic: Announcement: Nikon N AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm 1: 2.8E FL ED SR VR

  • Serg 57

    Focal Length: 70-300 mm
    Error

    • US6IBD

No. All is correct. It is 120-300.
Although it was possible to leave one single line in the description of the lens: the price is $ 9500! :-)

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Fixed

  • Oleg

Not clear focal lengths. I think 70-200 is enough for a portrait, but 300mm is not enough for birds

    • Arkady Shapoval

Well, this is not a replacement or addition to the 70-200. This is a lens in itself.

      • Oleg

So for whom? Reporting at medium distances? But somewhere it can be a bit crowded. Although football itself is the sport or where you can’t get close. I answer myself while I print

        • Victor

... for football, 300 mm is not enough ... you need at least 500 ...

        • Onotole

This lens is primarily for professional journalistic shooting of sports (almost any) - indoors. This is indicated by the focal range and aperture ratio. The price tag in this case is of little value (the money is government-owned).
I would venture to suggest that portraits in the open air at 300 and 2.8 will also work great, but the price ... and even more than 3 kg, not every photographer wants to carry.

  • Oleg

Well, 3,2 kg is desirable and a tripod to it.

  • Jankowsky

In terms of optical rendering, 99% I give that there will be another Chinese plastic like 70-200 Nano. So it is better to take Sigma 120-300 - already at divine prices for BU. 9500 bucks - who will buy it except for the Western elite from NatGeo

    • zengarden

If there is demand, there will be an offer. Few will buy it, but those who know that the lens will pay off.

  • maugli

For fans of 80-200 / 2.8 on crop))))

  • koba

Of course, this will be a wonderful zoom. Nikon also seems to have used fluorite glass for the first time in zoom (he used it in a 400mm fixed lens before). Finally! Such glass gives Kenon zooms an obvious advantage in terms of resolution, as well as visual clarity of the image. It can be predicted that Nikon will use this type of glass more often for the Z system. But the downside is the price of the issue. This zoom costs $ 9500. That is, it is only for commercial photographers specifically from rich countries.

    • Ivan

      Apparently, to the Olympics.

      • koba

Of course, but in general such a lens is capable of much, and on the crop it will generally turn out 450mm / 2,8 at the long end, I am also sure that the autofocus speed will be very high in it, so rich photo hunters will get an amazing tool. On the other hand, Sigma has had such a lens for a long time and it is also excellent, judging by the reviews. In a used market, the latter can be bought for $ 1200-1500, and a new one costs $ 3000, which is several times less than this new Nikon.

        • Ivan

It is unlikely that wealthy amateur photographers will use cropped cameras. Such a lens for crop do not buy. Who has a lot of money will buy a full frame. This is a lens specifically for the Olympics, and as Onotole correctly observed earlier, the price does not matter, since it is company money, not personal, that is, for officially working photographers. But Sigma does not have full compatibility, as a “native” lens, and discussing the topic of value here again is pointless. I am an amateur, but I will never buy a “non-native” flash or a “non-native" lens for myself. What can we say about the professionals!

          • Oleg

it will be bought by some news offices for their reporters with an eye on the Olympics, for example

            • Ivan

              And I'm about the same.

  • Ivan

“The first lens with SR.” The previous announcement on Z 70-200 says the same thing. So which one is the first? Or did it mean the first for Z and the first for FX?

    • Arkady Shapoval

They are released simultaneously, at the same time, because both of them are the first

  • Nicholas

This lens is an addition to the upcoming D6, with an eye on the Olympic Games. Focal lengths, focus on Sport mode.

  • Volodimir

Nikon is still releasing lenses for DSLRs, while Canon has completely abandoned DSLRs to please bezekalokov, I just read it today.

    • Igor

      Yeah, and released 1DxMlll.

      • Volodimir

Yes, but there will be no new lenses. All that is, that is.
But I don’t understand with Nikon, they’re still not going to leave the mirror, yet they partially leave the market for themselves just in case.

        • Ivan

Where did you get the idea that Canon is stopping the production of SLR lenses? Are you based on journalists interpreting a recent interview by Canon Shepherd, senior marketing manager for Canon Europe? He did not say that. He said that “Of course, if the market so requires, we are ready to create new EF lenses. But right now we're focused on RF. ”

          • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, the whole Internet was scored with horror stories about the cessation of the release of EF

        • Ivan

Some of the manufacturers officially announced the cessation of production of DSLRs and lenses? Fuji at one time officially announced the cessation of film production, and then resumed.

          • Volodimir

Cant mine, they stop developing, not manufacturing. But it seems that development will resume if the market requires it.

    • Oleg

I did not refuse SLRs and did not stop the production of mirror lenses. And he suspended the development of new lenses. I think he already has a comprehensive line, and what about the lenses that already have a patent, but physically they have not been released yet, but they have already been developed. I think there is something else to get from the boot

      • Ivan

More than exhaustive. Where should they be salted? The market decides what is in demand, as well as the marketers who manipulate this market.

        • Oleg

Unfortunately, I don’t know much English, but in the beginning I got information about lenses, and then several sites reprinted this article with the word SLR instead of lenses, but the article was all about lenses. And what about the lenses, well, there is a frankly problematic 50 \ 1.4, which can not be replaced due to marketing reasons, here is a difficult choice or expensive 50 \ 1.2 or boring 50 \ 1.8. 135 \ 2.0 here, so many would like updates, but at the same time the price will increase. 85 \ 1.8 Well, updated his 85 Nikon so what? Autofocus is slower, one aperture of the aperture is smaller than that of kenon, it is still chromate, slightly sharper, slightly higher price. 85 \ 1.8 is quite suitable for a budget photographer, you want better 85 \ 1.4 with a stub. 35mm - it's just dominance: from 35 \ 1.4L to 35 \ 2/0 with a stub, 35 \ 2.8 and you can finish 40 \ 2.8 for absolutely ridiculous money.

          • Oleg

It turns out from the whole system to the frankly problematic 50.1.4, and 135mm will be updated in the world without a mirror. Of course, there is no 120-300 \ 2.8 like in Nikon, but I don't know how critical this is for the system as a whole. Passions about the lack of a mirror are such that it is time to write a novel: "Alice in Bezierkale"

            • Ivan

              About the passion.

              • Ivan

"Tell me one more time, how will mirrorless cameras make your photos better?"

          • Ivan

I would not trust the words of marketers at all. Especially European. We must listen to the Japanese developers. But the peculiarity of the Japanese (Asian) mentality is that they will not tell the truth.

  • TramPamPam

So, I decided to buy myself a couple of these. One is clearly not enough ... What if I want to twist them with the front lenses, and I have only one such glass? Where am I going to run and urgently look for a second ?! I am exactly buying two. Resolved !!!
