Portraits on Jupiter-37A

Portraits on Jupiter-37A

I want to say from myself that I took up photography recently, at the age of 43, before that I was stopped by the prevailing opinion that very significant financial investments in technology are needed. There was always a DSLR in the family, but there were no professional thoughts to engage in photography, my father's manual optics lay around idle. Accidentally went to this site and a review of the camera Pentax K10D, which completely fascinated me and I bought it for myself at olx for $ 120. I shoot only on manual lenses, Japanese, Soviet and German production, from 24 to 140 mm. Jupiter 37A, with a certain skill, gives an excellent result in portrait photography, and I love Pentax for its “omnivorousness” in relation to different manual optics. But, of course, the K10D was already too old and had to leave to buy the Pentax again!

Much more interesting works of Yuri can be found at the following links

  • Konstantin

In these photos there is a bit of Jupiter-37A and a ton of Photoshop ...

    • Eugen

From I, I thought so myself. All the beauty of Jupiter in vtyd vіd podbnoobrobi, like on me. Look at the template popular photos at a time.

      • Edward

This is only popular with soft button presses. In the West, self-respecting people do not engage in such nonsense.

  • R2D2

A little sharpe is not enough, you need more, and more plastic, otherwise monsters are not dorobotany.
The girls are good, and these masters fry rav, are already sick.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Such processing is quite in demand, for example, on the same 500 peak at Yuri under 3 million views and "recognition" over 100.000, to which both me and you are like the moon. Therefore, Yuri shoots and sees his works in a completely different way, like many others perceive them in a different way.

      • Roman

Yes, the very fact that “good girls” are filmed by a photographer means a lot. I can hardly imagine an option in which you can persuade a dozen professional models to click at an amateur roast raven.

    • Neo

Well, well, the experts ran in, continue to shoot on whales and say that the processing is evil)

    • Maria

There is no way without it. Although this is not necessarily sharp, there are a million ways to tighten up ajdzhiz max, for example in fsh. Because sharpe distorts the background and the whole picture is not for the better, but it can be seen that only the eyes are modified, according to the classics))))

    • Edward

      at least one sensible comment!

  • Anatoly

I agree with the comments ... The work of Jupiter is practically invisible here. So you can remove it on any lens and modify it in Photoshop.)))

    • Anonymous 2.0

Jupiter's work ??? Maybe you need to appreciate the work of the photographer? The idea, composition, post-processing, selection of models and locations. Here a lot of work is visible. And glass is just a tool.

      • Roman

What for? Glass should work. The pensioner, taking off at him, has already worked out his own and must rest. In the arms of a beautiful feminine one hundred kilogram woman.

      • Alexey

The tool here is Photoshop, not Jupiter.

        • Roman

And a photoshop at a flea market for 100 rubles, alas, cannot be bought. And skill. And models. And the lovers of the unhurried creative have to sadly fiddle with their dark haze, realizing that they are not players in this league. And shouting: "So everyone can" be afraid to learn at least two or three sliders of exposure and BB.

It’s a pity, the photo labs appeared too late, almost in parallel with computer retouching. How would users of the photo labs scornfully speak of those who use manual retouching, masks, cross-processing, all this filth that is inappropriate for TRUE mass-media fans?

        • Michael

The main thing is that the author is the one who holds the instrument and works with it. And what kind of tool is secondary

  • Roman

I understand correctly that the real photo on the Soviet lens is cloudy, faded, against the light, so that the face is fat, old and in the shade?

    • Roman

Oh, and with a mandatory annotation about the difficulty of focusing on a manual lens in low light conditions.

  • Roman

Yuri, good and stylish. But the audience, alas, is not yours. They don’t like photos that cannot be repeated in their own kitchen.

    • Michael

      +1

    • Edward

LOL what? to remove the woman in the middle and throw on a couple of presets - is it difficult? do not make me laugh

      • Eduard

What you shoot is also easy to shoot. But they somehow endure you

  • Trueash

Umgu, I don’t like these pictures either. Not sure if I even want to repeat them in my kitchen. Moreover, my computer is not there

    • Old nail

You have a sofa in the kitchen.

      • Trueash

        Yes I know

  • Maksim

    Yuri, thanks for the post.
    There are just wonderful works!

  • Alexey

And I like the pictures. True, only those that were shot in the classical tradition, without rings in the noses and lips and without protruding boobs. I liked the way the light was put in these photos.

  • koba

now everyone can make sure that Pentax cameras can also shoot and even give interesting colors.

  • Vyacheslav

    Class!

  • Vlad

Processing is always needed, art glass, I liked some of the pictures.

  • Anonymous 2.0

These are beautiful portraits) real art)

  • Radmir

Processing is not evil; you just need to subtly feel the line beyond which you do not need to cross. But to understand this you need time and make many mistakes. And then from the picture of Jupiter 37 nothing was left just some kind of a neim lens) IMHO
ZY. And so the photos are excellent.

    • Michael

It is necessary to organize a challenge, portraits on Canon 50mm 1.8 STM =)

  • Basil

Awesome work, who do not hold out, better to cheat, well done Yuri !!!

  • Passer

I do not "digest" women with a courageously determined face. Woman by nature was created for motherhood, and not for deciding fate and great “movements” that they are diligently trying to express in the photo. Neither a man nor a woman.

    • koba

do not be offended, photographers are people too and also grow up on comics and Hollywood films ... tastes are also Hollywood, I am sure that the models themselves liked the way they were filmed, if they too, although they look like superwomen in the best traditions of comics.

  • Jury

    Liked the fire !!!

  • Sergei

Jupiter-37A draws well young girls and girls, but for ladies of Balzac age it is not optimal.
Quite contrasting with high detail, which is good for young and characteristic models.
And the respected author did it all very well, the pictures are very successful and expressive.
But for the Balzac age you need a softer portrait, like Jupiter-9 ...

    • BB

“Balzac age - a woman between the ages of 30 and 40”, if anything

  • Anatoly

Who said the pictures are bad? The point is that you can shoot on glass from a bottle, and then bring it to the desired level in Photoshop. Then write to the fig that the picture was taken on S-37. You could just write that the portraits of such an author and no matter what lens was used ...)))

    • Arkady Shapoval

Send your pictures on glass from the bottle, we'll see them, write comments

  • Oleg

Just different genres. There are “live” portraits in which real emotions are read, and there are “plastic” ones, like fashion. For "living" portraits, processing, not counting a little correction of exposure or contrast, and retouching, hurts, makes it unnatural. You don't need, as they say, “tons of makeup”, you don't see natural emotions behind them, and accordingly, deep retouching in a photo editor will only ruin such pictures. If a photographer is in the mood for fashion, he needs either a make-up specialist or retouching skills. Who likes what and for what purposes it is used.

    • Maria

This is called “reportage photography” and can be filmed in a day-to-day setting.
Here is a staged photo where the author pre-thinks with the model the pose, shooting angle and lighting. Living emotions are sometimes possible in this genre. but more often, nevertheless, abstract emotions are obtained.

  • Vadym

Гідні photos. I am amazed at the result and the estimated result; All that I need to do. Think and realize - beautiful.
Of assurances, schi without FSH stink tezh wiggled b perfectly navіt simply in monochromatic with minimal additional perfection.
I can tell you that I’ve got to know a little bit more robustly and I know what kind of looks :) So, not all of your thoughts got into the minds of all the looks :) It also fell.
To the author - good luck!

  • Al

Some kind of horror, not photographs. Like plastic tomatoes from Holland ... And also girls, they are already everywhere, wherever possible, you don't want to look at smoky faces. Why so disfigure pictures from a good lens?

    • Arkady Shapoval

It's just really funny. I am publishing a selection of diverse subjects, in the comments, users “shout” “let's portraits”! You publish a selection of portraits of “screaming” “tired” :)

      • Michael

And we do not like everything)) And so bad and that way)) People of denial

      • Roman

This is not funny. This is sad and the audience is 60+.

      • Roman

        Well, 15- judging by some.

    • coroner

      send yours, what's the problem?

    • Andrei

Portrait lens - portrait photos. What's wrong?

      • Michael

There is no landscape, no macro, no birds - maybe I forgot some of the popular genres))

    • Roman

Go to the gay portal, there are men, take a good look.

    • Maria

      Because the photos are post-war.
And emotions - "the author saw it that way."

They by definition will not work out as just a photo from the street

  • Reader

"Smoky faces" - wow, for a long time I laughed, how intelligibly, it was said to the point :-))))

  • Oleg

I will add. Emotionally, I like the b / w picture, the rest are mostly beautiful, but without emotion. For some, as with a dog, quite in style - a genre portrait, a fantasy story.

  • UstasFritZZZ

Whoever doesn't like it - he is simply jealous that he cannot take at least something similar to the presented photos. The portraits are gorgeous, each like a work of art. Respect.

    • Edward

Good God, even a schoolboy can take it off. although not, schoolchildren are shooting in style right now. so let it be a delight for senile eyes.

      • Arkady Shapoval

Maybe prepare some sort of collection from something of your own, for example, also, from some 135th. It will be great! (without any extra thoughts, real offer)

        • Eduard

It is unlikely that he will prepare anything. This is an Internet troll who has a personal dislike for the author of the article, and he did not appear here by chance. The result comes out "somehow" even though he has been shooting for several years already. And yes, he is from the same city as Yuri

        • Edward

Why do I need it? I have a flicker for that. And views from pensioners sitting here and simply clumsy - well, such a thing.

          • Arkady Shapoval

Strange approach, strange thoughts, as for me - just moved out so as not to bother

          • B. R. P.

            Confused with the site photo.

  • Dmitry (e_dimas)

I will write the same thing that many have already written here.
The title of the article is not correct, the presented photos do not show "Jupiter-37A", but a lot of "Photoshop" is visible.
Such photos can be shot with almost any lens, and then “photoshopped”.
