Fallen Digital Mirror Systems

A small historical excursion into digital SLR cameras (CZK) that stopped their development (they simply died, or switched to mirrorless side).

About the dead TsZK

About the dead TsZK

Contax N Digital

Contax N Digital, the first digital full frame, announced on July 18, 2000 and discontinued around 2002. Only a few autofocus lenses were released for the Contax N system:

  1. Carl Zeiss Planar 1,4 / 50 T * (for Contax N)
  2. Carl Zeiss Planar 1,4 / 85 T * (for Contax N)
  3. Carl Zeiss Makro-Sonnar 1: 2.8 f = 100mm T * (for Contax N)
  4. Carl Zeiss Tele-Apotessar 4/400 T * (for Contax N)
  5. Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 2.8 / 17-35 T * (for Contax N)
  6. Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 3,5-4,5 / 24-85 T * (for Contax N)
  7. Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 3,5-5,6 / 28-80 T * (for Contax N)
  8. Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 3,5-4,5 / 70-200 T * (for Contax N)
  9. Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 4-5,6 / 70-300 T * (for Contax N)

Kodak (architecture PRO 14)

There were only 3 Kodak DSLR cameras (namely classic cameras, not digital backs on the chassis of film cameras):

  1. Kodak DCS PRO 14n (Nikon F mount) presented September 24, 2002
  2. Kodak DCS Pro SLR / n (Nikon F mount) introduced February 12, 2004
  3. Kodak DCS Pro SLR / c (Canon EF), introduced March 18, 2004

Some of these cameras were in subversion with a monochrome sensor, some with additional upgrades of the buffer memory and sensor.

All these cameras are full-frame, with very, very interesting features. Incredible tools for his time. Unfortunately, the special camera architecture 'PRO 14 Digital Camera Architecture', on which these cameras were based, did not receive further development and Kodak DSLRs ceased to develop.

Due to the fact that Kodak CZK used Nikon / Canon mounts, it cannot be said that Kodak was a full-fledged digital mirror system.

Subsequently, Kodak in the world of narrow format could see only one weak attempt to develop in the face of a mirrorless camera Kodak Pixpro S-1.

Fujifilm

As early as January 2000, Fujifilm began to produce its own CZKs, which were based on some Nikon film cameras, from which the Fujifilm CZKs used the Nikon F mount and lenses and peripherals from Nikon cameras.

  1. Fujifilm FinePix S1 Pro
  2. Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro
  3. Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro + version Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro UVIR
  4. Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro + version Fujifilm FinePix IS Pro

This is not to say that it was a full-fledged mirror system, but at the same time, the heart of these cameras was Fujifilm's own unique development.

The last of the CJC Fujifilm was introduced back in 2007. Five years later, on January 10, 2012 Fujifilm began to produce a complete system in the face of mirrorless cropped cameras Fujifilm X, and a little later, medium format mirrorless Fujifilm gx.

Samsung

Samsung has released its CZK and lenses to them, which were just a rebranding of some Pentax lenses and cameras.

Samsung GX cameras:

  1. Samsung GX-1S (Pentax * ist DS2 copy)
  2. Samsung GX-1L (Pentax * ist DL2 copy)
  3. Samsung GX-10 (copy Pentax K10D)
  4. Samsung GX-20 (copy of Pentax K20D)

Lenses Samsung / Schneider-Kreuznach:

  • 35mm: Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenogon 1:2 35mm (most likely optically identical to SMC PENTAX-FA 1:2 35mm AL)
  • 100mm: Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenon Macro 1: 2.8 100mm (most likely optically identical to SMC PENTAX-DFA 1: 2.8 100mm -MACRO-)
  • 10-17mm: Samsung Zoom Lens Fisheye D-Xenon 10-17mm 1: 3.5-4.5 AL aka Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenogon 1: 3.5-4.5 10-17mm ED AL (most likely optically identical to Tokina Model 107 and SMC Pentax-DA FISH-EYE 1: 3.5-4.5 10-17mm ED [IF])
  • 12-24mm: Samsung Zoom Lens D-Xenon 1:4 12-24mm ED AL aka Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenon 1:4 12-24mm ED AL (most likely optically identical to Tokina Model 124 and SMC Pentax-DA 1:4 12-24mm ED AL [IF])
  • 16-45mm: Samsung Zoom Lens SA 1:4 16-45mm ED AL (most likely optically identical to SMC PENTAX-DA 1:4(22) 16-45mm ED-AL-)
  • 18-55mm: Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenon 1: 3.5-5.6 18-55mm AL (most likely optically identical to SMC Pentax-DA 1: 3.5-5.6 18-55mm AL)
  • 18-250mm: Samsung Zoom Lens SA 1:3.5-6.3 18-250mm ED AL (most likely optically identical to SMC Pentax-DA 1:3.5-6.3 18-250mm AL [IF] and Sony AF DT 3.5-6.3/18-250 and Tamron AF 18- 250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] Macro)
  • 50-200mm: Schneider-Kreuznach D-Xenon 1:4.0-5.6 50-200mm ED (most likely optically identical to SMC PENTAX-DA 1:4-5.6 50-200 ED)

In theory, all lenses existed under the names 'Samsung' and 'Schneider-Kreuznach' at the same time, but sometimes only one spelling of the name could be found on sale.

Samsung GX is completely dead. In the future, the company began to develop a mirrorless system Samsung NX (and NX-M) that befell the same fate.

Konica Minolta

Cameras use A mount.

There were only 2 CZK Konica Minolta:

  1. Konica Minolta Dynax 7d (camera also sold under the names Konica Minolta Alpha [α] 7D и Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D), presented on September 15, 2004
  2. Konica Minolta Dynax 5d (camera also sold under the names Konica Minolta Alpha [α] Sweet Digital и Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D), presented July 15, 2005

Original Konica Minolta DT lenses for cameras with APS-C sensor:

  1. Konica Minolta AF DT Zoom 11-18mm 1: 4.5(22)-5.6 D was later released under the name Sony DT 4.5-5.6/11-18 (SAL1118) (most likely similar to Tamron Model A13)
  2. Konica Minolta AF Zoom DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 (D) Macro was later released under the name Sony DT 3.5-5.6/18-70mm MACRO
  3. Konica Minolta AF Zoom DT 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 (D) was later released under the name Sony DT 3.5-6.3/18-200 (most likely similar to Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 (IF) Aspherical LD XR DiII Macro Model A14 and PROMASTER DIGITAL XR EDO AF Aspherical LD (IF) 18-200mm 1:3.5-6.3 Macro)

From Konica Minolta [α]Alpha and traces its pedigree to the Sony Alpha [α] camera series. The Konica Minolta photo brand was taken over by Sony. Konica Minolta's 'classic' CPCs are completely dead.

Sigma

Bayonet Sigma SA. The cameras were and remain very interesting thanks to the unusual Foveon X3 image sensor:

  • Sigma SD9, February 18, 2002, Foveon X3 with sensor size 20.7 mm X 13.8 mm, Kf = 1.74X
  • Sigma SD10, October 27, 2003, Foveon X3 with sensor size 20.7 mm X 13.8 mm, Kf = 1.74X
  • Sigma SD14, March 6, 2007, Foveon X3 with sensor size 20.7 mm X 13.8 mm, Kf=1.74X
  • Sigma SD15, February 20, 2010, Foveon X3 with sensor size 20.7 mm X 13.8 mm, Kf = 1.74X
  • Sigma SD1, September 21, 2010, Foveon X3 APS-C Kf=1.5X
  • Sigma SD1 Merril, February 2012, Foveon X3 APS-C Kf=1.5X

The last camera was born in 2012, and further development of the lineup was virtually discontinued. To replace the last SLR camera Sigma sd1 merril mirrorless came out in 2016 Sigma sd quattro и Sigma sd quattro hfurther development of which will also be discontinued or replaced with full-frame Sigma cameras based on the Foveon sensor.

There are a lot of cropped lenses for Sigma SA, and there is no way to list them all. Some crooked Sigma lenses for the Sigma SA mount are still available. Despite his decent age, Sigma sd1 merril still considered an actual camera. And the survivability of the Sigma SA mount is also due to the fact that mirrorless cameras Sigma sd quattro и Sigma sd quattro h also use the Sigma SA 'mirror' mount. But the Sigma SA CPC have no further development.

Sony (DSLR!)

Sony's classic SLR cameras have also ceased to exist. They were replaced by cameras with a translucent mirror Sony SLT.

The last classic digital SLR camera from Sony was introduced back in 2010 (models Sony a580 / Sony a560). But overall, Sony's 'mirror' system continues to exist, albeit with a translucent mirror. SLT cameras inherit the Sony A (Konica Minolta A) mount and the entire optics park developed for it. True, the current lineup of Sony SLT cameras is rather scarce, and some of them have not been updated for a long time.

Sony (SLT!)

Sony's translucent mirror cameras stopped being updated in 2016 and are also an extinct evolutionary branch.

  8. Zeiss Vario-sonnar 2.8 /24-70 ZA SSM II T* (Sony SAL2470Z2) [2015]

Leica / Olympus / Panasonic 4/3

Do not confuse the 4/3 mirror system with the Micro 4/3 mirrorless system!

Four Thirds includes several manufacturers that have cameras with the same mount. Crop factor for these cameras is Kf = 2.0X.

CZK Leica:

  1. Leica Digilux 3 (same as Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1)

CZK Olympus:

  1. Olympus E-1
  2. Olympus E-3
  3. Olympus E-5
  4. Olympus E-30
  5. Olympus E-300
  6. Olympus E-330

  9. Olympus E-420
  10. Olympus E-450
  11. Olympus E-500
  12. Olympus E-510
  13. Olympus E-520
  14. Olympus E-600
  15. Olympus E-620

CZK Panasonic:

  1. Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1, February 2006, one of the first central control panels with Live View
  2. Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10, August 2007

There were about 30 autofocus lenses for the system from Olympus and Panasonic / Lecia, I will separately indicate here only Panasonic / LEICA lenses for 4/3:

  1. LEICA D SUMMILUX 1: 1.4 / 25 ASPH.
  2. LEICA D VARIO-ELMARIT 1: 2.8-3.5 / 14-50 ASPH. MEGA OIS
  3. LEICA D VARIO-ELMAR 1: 3.8-5.6 / 14-50 ASPH. MEGA OIS
  4. LEICA D VARIO-ELMAR 1: 3.5-5.6 / 14-150 ASPH. MEGA OIS

The 4/3 system has completely ceased to exist.

Subsequently, Panasonic and Olympus switched to the mirrorless Micro 4/3 system.

Leica switched to the Leica TL mirrorless cameras and later to the SL.

Results

Many well-known digital SLR systems completely (Fujifilm, Samsung, Kodak, Konica Minolta, Panasonic / Olympus / Leica 4/3) or partially (Sigma, Sony) ceased to exist. Fujifilm, Samsung, Panasonic / Olympus, Sigma, Sony, and even Leica and Zeiss switched to the mirrorless direction.

Looking at history of the above brands, it is safe to say that the mirror titans of Canon, Nikon and Sony SLT are waiting for a complete transition to the mirrorless paradigm. Even worse is the situation with Pentax, which may not survive the massive transition to mirrorless.

Extension here.

Eternal insults at the USSR, at power. Not even interesting already ... :(
Well, there was no toilet paper, and what? was there a problem? But all the farts were strong and did not burn for the slightest reason.
The cameras are getting better and better, but the pictures are still the same ... And the aesthetes, no, no, and they will buy themselves an old 6-megapixel one ... or fill a roll in a film-holder - For myself, for the soul, so to speak.

    • Alexander

I agree with you on the second part of your message ... But what does the “offended at the USSR” have to do with it ...? In the USSR, there was everything for a normal life, the main thing - there were no capitalists and oligarchs and there were high-quality products ... And now those who were offended, let this toilet paper wipe the chemistry that gets out of the ass from chemical products ...

      • Pokemon

In addition to trips abroad, high-quality office equipment / electronics and imported clothing.

        • Pokemon

          And foreign cars.

        • Alexander

Where have you seen high-quality office equipment, electronics and imported clothing ...? That Chinese shit with which shops and markets are inundated ...? At the expense of foreign cars I will not argue, but only to the point of them, the bulk of them cannot buy them ... Therefore, they get into credit bondage, which is even worse ... And trips abroad were desirable until we had them ... Now, having been there, you think - Fuck they need these trips ... There is no sense in them in the end ... Turkey ..? There is generally nothing to do ... Hang around in these services of theirs and go to the canteen and the beach in formation ...? Don't tell me ... It was more interesting in the pioneer camp ...
Although it's your business, instead of high-quality products, there is now shit from the periodic table, instead of normal clothes - crap ... Household appliances are generally a solid scam at exorbitant prices ... But now you have trips abroad to feed their speculators and to get into some some kind of cataclysm such as strikes or natural disasters, during which all the last money will be pulled out of you and then they will not be released yet, because you still have to, and if released, you will pay for more than one year ... Of course, if the money is stolen, and the car is on the siding, then no problems should arise ... you can somehow get out ... Although you have lost the floor of the car ... You are all already tired of your stupid reasoning ... So in the nineties for jeans and snickers everyone sold their homeland ... Now eat, do not crap ...

          • Denis

computers are accessible to everyone, work reliably
TVs are on and off. there are even very cheap
Phones are ringing and are almost not buggy. even the elderly have learned to use them (all sorts of vaciers)
shoes made of genuine leather are cheap, new materials have appeared for clothing. and there is no need to choose from one or two names of trousers in the store. and chase imports into the store when they are "thrown out"
But what is Turkey - a lot of people have gone abroad for permanent residence and no one keeps them. chose what they like
and sorry for the homeland, of course. if it had not been destroyed, there would be everything that is now. and not China would produce everything, but the USSR

          • Anonymous

Films are mediocre, mostly uninteresting. Actors do not know how to play, one nerves and crazy ... I just want to shout: "I do not believe!". Even in the nineties there were norms. movies and artists. Cartoons are moronic for morons. And the music ...

          • Max

Remembering that, forgive me,%; Nyu, which was done in your shitty sysere, I understand that it is a sin to swear at the modern Chinese! Yes, of course it is so-so, but compared to the products of the dark geniuses of Savets, it's just space technologies !!!

            • Max

To clarify - I am not comparing a modern smartphone and a rotary phone from the times of the scoop, it is pointless. I will compare a banal outlet or switch, which have not changed much conceptually, but constructively - this is the abyss between civilization and the scoop! Finally, now you can use them without pain and mate

              • Vitaly N

Another offended. I'm just wondering how they tortured you with them ...

            • Sergei

By the way, max, about the Soviet gloomy geniuses of space technology, it was they who launched them, and the rest smoked bamboo. Then people came with thinking like yours and we smoke bamboo and use Chinese. Here the truth is reassuring that they are using it in the USA, but that’s what it is. Honestly, I did not think that such primitive-minded people still survived. So much it became obvious, even to those who were dim-witted. But look, you found it, unique.

              • Max

No, you are now writing to me from a computer created by nifig NOT sovets gloomy geniuses, via the Internet, created also NOT by them, in a browser invented NOT by them, according to protocols ... and so on. With Savets' geniuses, you would write through some MK-DOS thread through a black and white command line on the TV. Practically everything that was invented in IT that you use now - computers, Windows, iPhone, MacBook, smartphone, android, Ethernet, Internet, IP, mother, telephony, Skype-shmaypes - this is NOT a scoop. The fact that the scoop was the first to send a man into space is a plus. But that's all. Then the luck ended, and now the ceiling is to send goods / people to the near-earth, and even then the shop will soon be closed, because all the polymers are pitted. All the new AMS, Pluto, Cassini and orbiting telescopes are magic beyond the reach of post-soviet gloomy geniuses.

                With space technology.

              • Max

Everything is with space technology. To the sockets!

We take the most Dishman Madeinchina outlet bought from a dumb drunk on the market. Shit? Undoubtedly! But even in this shit, a normal wire attachment point is provided - the most important thing is that there can generally be in this piece of stinking plastic and three and a half pieces of iron. Usually this is a guide "shaft" with two plates, which are compressed with a screw! This is brilliant! Magic beyond the reach of the gloomy geniuses of the USSR. I inserted a wire into the slot, clamped it and forgot!

Now let's take a warm Soviet lamp socket. And what do we see there? A screw with a round washer, from under which the wire will certainly come out when you try to clamp it, even if you wind it in the direction of rotation. So that this garbage does not fall apart, you need to either press a special "plug" on the wire or take a pole and solder-solder-tin-twist-solder-wind on the screw. And all the same, this garbage will crack later. And all the same, no matter how you squeeze it, then the screw will loosen, because the solder will sink. Gloomy geniuses could not even come up with a normal outlet! Although everything is simple, how ... I don't even know how.

And so in everything from power outlets to nuclear power plants. Recall what turned out to be the same attitude of gloomy geniuses to the invention of reactors?

    • Alexander

Since I bought the D7000 in 2010, to this day I have not seen an increase in quality in the cameras released during this time ... And what kind of picture improvement can we talk about if it was already excellent in 2010 ... A few years later I bought the D7100 ... What did you get…? Slightly higher detail and a little better at high ISO ... That's it ... Oh, yes ... now in the D7100, the picture can be enlarged up to one hundred percent with the OK button when viewing ... I did not sleep at night, waited for such a camera to come out, with this function right -so I bought the D7100 ... In fact, this is just a convenient function and nothing more ... By the way, I found that the Sigma 17-50 gives a better picture on the D7000, but the Tamron 17-50 gives a better picture on the D7100 ... And again I I'm not talking about color rendition, but just about detail, in fact, about sharpness and clarity ... I was surprised by this fact, since Tamron was released earlier ...
The only thing that can and should be talked about is improving the picture at high ISO ... But in amateur cameras this will not happen, because this is not done on purpose and will not be done - this is the kakhobor principle of capitalism ... It is not clear what can be generally discussed in the newly appearing cameras - the appearance and dimensions of the case ...? There is no point in talking about any quality, it is usual, that is, good ... Most people only need a basic set of functions and nothing more ... I, for example, do not use serial shooting at all ... Serial shooting is a stupid wear of the shutter and mirror lifting mechanism and no It doesn't bring pleasure from taking photos ... In order to be a Nutcracker, you don't even need to know the basics of photography ... It's just a mockery of the camera, which now costs a lot and not everyone can afford a normal DSLR, well, or a mirrorless - nothing I don’t have anything against them, I just don’t need to oppose them to DSLRs - these are different categories and to pursue a policy of replacing one with another - this is an ordinary marketolochotron ... I have two DSLRs and I don’t want a mirrorless, although if it cost humanly, well, like 2014 , to the mess the oligarchs set up for us, then I might have bought it ... So, for general information ... And maybe I would even take it with me for vacation ...

      • Roman

Why D7000? Why not film Zenith and Orthodox Helios? Does this schizophrenia bother you? Why did you sell the blessed USSR for fun to the Japanese capitalist imperialists? Why go online? With BESM or at least with Elbrus?

"I, for example, do not use burst shooting at all ..." - read "I have no subjects on which continuous shooting can be useful."

        • Alexander

In terms of…? what does Zenith have to do with it ...? What plots can the Nutcracker have ...? “” ”Why did you sell the blessed USSR for the amusement of the Japanese imperialist capitalists? How do you go online? With BESM or at least from Elbrus? ”” ”- what kind of nonsense?, Decipher, please ...

      • Denis

however, the D7100 is better than the D7000. Autofocus work is fixed, and jambs with flowers are fixed.
and most importantly - you can screw on the AF-P lens and shoot a normal video!

        • Alexander

On account of AF-P - I agree ... On account of autofocus and colors - no ... Except for improved detail for large sizes (due to 24MP) and an order of magnitude reduction in noise at high ISO - I do not see any other differences ... Colors and autofocus are normal for both cameras ... Moreover, the color can be adjusted as you like, both in the RAW converter and in the profiles of the camera itself for JPEG ... Therefore, it is not clear what is meant when referring to color ... Profiles are configured as you like ... The matrix generally gives out a gray image and is colored by the processor ... Yes, with the “OK” button in the D7100, you can now enlarge the photo when viewing it up to 100 percent ... It's really convenient ... For a hike, this is the most noticeable change in comparison with the D7000 ... And, of course, more MP and ISO ... By the way, I found it on the D7100 a jamb that came from the factory ... After three years of use I tried wireless control of an external flash - it turns out it doesn't work ... I checked the rest - it doesn't work Multiple flash ... Well, it happens rarely, but the sun is overexposed triple flash ... With what pattern - I can not determine, in different ways ... I corresponded with the Nikon service - they turned on the durku, the guarantee ended and that's it ... And they don't care that this is a production marriage ... The law says about it ... I would live in Moscow, I could to argue, but to argue so far ... Well, he is understandable ... If only to sell to capitalists, and there the grass does not grow ... This is an evil principle of capitalism, especially in relation to our countries ...

You are very wrong in many ways and judge very self-centeredly, everyone is trying to blame someone for their problems. I, on the contrary, believe that modern society is not worthy of that holiday of technological progress and its accessibility. More precisely, I believe that the future has arrived, but few can adequately assess it.
So you say that you do not need rate of fire, you do not need video, this does not mean that no one needs. I just need a video, and let the rate be, you never mind. Yes, the production of technology is making money, but what should it be in your opinion? Charity? As you already wrote here, normal photographers do not wither over their camera and do not buy a new one as soon as it comes out. Exactly like iPhones, not everyone buys and not from lack of opportunity, although there are those who take iPhones on credit, but this is a clinic already. Well, no one forces you to buy anything, you decide.

I had Nikon D7000 and D90 cameras, good cameras, I will not say anything against, both are very balanced. I eventually switched to the Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark2 for the sake of compactness and, in general, I do not regret it. I would call these cameras about the same level with their pluses and minuses each, but I don’t feel like going back to D7k for many reasons. Subsequently, if there is money I will buy a full frame of the Nikon Z6 type, because some of my tasks need high iso with good quality. So maybe Nikon DF would have taken some, but there are other unpleasant moments with it. I am confused on the modern market of BZK only by not very strong elaboration of cameras by all manufacturers, apparently due to the rush in development, the desire to have time to roll out the product in step with competitors. That's why Nikon released a crop for a new bayonet mount? Who needs this? There is some sense in the Z50 camera, but small, it would be better instead to make a more affordable FF without special whistle-blowers. You can discuss for a long time about the battle of ZK vs BZK, but I think the BZK will eventually supplant the ZK, it remains to be glad that the DSLRs will become more accessible for connoisseurs, including on the secondary.

Was everything for life in the USSR? well, let a person generally need a little for life. There, too, there were a whole bunch of problems and human fears, and there was no free Internet so that someone could tell everyone about it.
And the technique, well, now everything is produced in China, so what? Do you think people who produce all this for a penny live well? And then take the prices in Soviet rubles, for example, for high-end audio amplifiers and shift them to the average salary then and today, are you ready to pay so much for equipment today? I think not. Meanwhile, this technique has all consumer characteristics and has been working for years, if not decades. And high-quality equipment is as expensive as it is, and “low-quality” equipment is much more affordable and does not lag too far behind quality equipment. It's just that then there was almost nothing and people had different requests, but now everything is full and you want everything, but not just some kind of it, but the best and cheaper. And most of the technologies that are widely used today were borrowed from the West, to put it mildly. We also had our own technologies, but we know little about them. Until now, among the masses, there is no respect for intellectual property, for example, well, there is nothing to count on high-quality products of intellectual labor. Everyone loves Microsoft, but few people buy consciously, but there is no domestic answer, and what is there is a laughing matter.

With vinyl, everything is not so obvious at first glance. On the one hand, it doesn’t smell of technical sound quality, there are too many non-linearities and mechanics, and if all this is removed, then no budgets will be enough, it’s a tangential tonearm and other exotic. Well, it's not too reusable. A blind test would help you find the truth in this matter, but hardly anyone can meticulously and competently produce it. Why personally vinyl is valuable to me, because it is a process that creates value for itself, the process of choosing a plate, installing it, turning it on and turning it over / over after a fairly short time. And this process makes you listen, gives listening value, and complements it with tactile sensations. Plus there is crackling dust in the vinyl, noise in the film, this is generally quite nice to the human ear. Those. it is not sound quality but the quality of the listening process.

        • Roman

I do not know where this maneuver comes from for most of the Sovkodrocherov. What kind of standard of living can we talk about in general, when most of the budget either went into the air, or was distributed to fraternal countries as assistance, or went to the army in order to defeat everyone and drive everyone into their stall. Everything mass that more or less improved life is stolen by design, often by element base. You read the description of any microcircuit - an exact analogue of this and that, an analogue of that, an analog of that. And all this is out of the wild, everything is scarce, everything is expensive.

My grandfather worked in the regional OBKhSS, grandmother - 30 years at a meat processing plant, before the head of the shop. That is, there was the most refined food, imported gear and everything that an ordinary Soviet person DIDN'T SEE. Stupidly, I simply did not see, did not receive, stood in the most terrible queues when I had to break down from work, because I was “thrown out”. And this is in relatively well-fed years. So even with all such relatives, I don't want to go back there. I have everything that I have achieved myself. I learned it myself, mastered the specialty myself, I earn money myself. And I am satisfied with the current opportunities, I have them. I know that a lot depends on me, and not on the uncle on top, and I prefer it to stay that way. I buy what I want. I want to drive up - it will be an L-technique. If I don't want to, it won't. Shirik, makrik, DSLR, mirrorless - I have a CHOICE. I have an OPPORTUNITY, I do not need to look for those to blame for my own stupidity, limitation or laziness, trying to pull my wretched dichotomous-schizophrenic perception of the world onto reality.

Yes, in general, and in the United States they lived poorly, thanks to progress, now people even in India can afford a cell phone

There used to be an ideology. The man was integrated into society, they were engaged in it. Now everyone is for himself; ideology is to earn more money to buy a cool car, all sorts of trash in the house and change the apple tree every year.
People get tired of this impetuous pursuit of junk imposed by marketers, and they unknowingly want to go to where Pioneer Dawn, Call Sign Lighthouse and measured life; into the romance of construction teams. Man didn’t just hammer money, but worked for the future of a great power.

China is only formally communist. Yes, and although the economy is one of the leading, and the technological level is at its best, people there die like flies and no one cares, there are no rights and freedoms, and so on ... Now look at democratic Taiwan ... This would be the whole of China if the red did not conquer.

  • Adon

OLCs are better at shooting videos than DSLRs.
This is a very important feature now.

    • Vitaly N

For whom is it important? Svaddeshikov and bloggers? I myself already forgot when I shot the video, and if I’m shooting, it usually lies unclaimed. I even like to read reviews, not watch. In reality, a video is shot to be watched later by units. The rest have a fashionable chip and files covered in dust.

      • Alexander

Yes, the whole process, starting from the manufacture of all these cameras, to shooting a video, is nothing more than a form of earnings ... And the end result, that is, the video itself lies in the cupboard and no one watches it ... A lot of my friends during the survey, even after 10 - 20 years after the wedding they said that they watched this movie once - right after they brought it ... That is, in fact, this whole chain is needed to make money by the manufacturer -> all kinds of resellers and then by the photographer himself when shooting ... ends ... Since the final product, in fact, the video, no one then watches ... The question is - why then did people pay money and hire a video camera ...? Answer - Fuck knows, Schaub bulo ...! And Schaub he lived well ...? What for…? Photos and even then, only a few, sometimes people look ... Then one more question - why pay money to a photographer at a wedding, if you can ask an amateur friend to capture the main moments of the wedding for free - and this will be the most correct ... For example, my acquaintances have asked me more than once shoot at weddings and were always happy, because I shoot only the main moments, and I shoot in such a way that you can watch and enjoy, and I do not click, like the Nutcracker, nothing superfluous ... I have, for example, 50 photos only one - two for deletion ... The rest - completely suitable for storage and viewing ... And all these friends were happy ... There were even several cases when I hired a pro and I shot at the same time ... And in all cases, friends noted that they liked my photos more, and wonder why they paid so much money to this photographer ... Because the photographer is shooting some kind of artistic bullshit, and not what was in reality ... Photos, even after twenty years, shouldto convey exactly the atmosphere that prevailed at the wedding, and not what a photographer came up with with his little mind, who considers himself a genius of wedding photography ... How many photos I look at like cool wedding photographers and I find nothing in them except a shitty setting, which I don't want to watch ...

    • Alexander

This is not a necessary function at all, which is made to increase the price ... No one shoots these videos ... Photos - yes, you need ... And then, from a heap of photos taken, for example, 300 pieces, on vacation in Crimea, we usually watch a dozen or two ... The rest is simple lying around on media ... One consolation that before, after the vacation, they carried the films to the laboratory and printed, as they said then "the best" ... But, in fact, everything was printed there to rip off more money ... And now the camera was bought and beauty - the rest the whole process is free ... For technodrochers, who also have free money, of course it is interesting to constantly buy new cameras and research them ... But what is there to explore ...? External changes and everything according to adrne ... If I had free money, and I would do this ... But I have earned money ... Therefore, I really look at all this capital - progress ...

          • coroner

Alexander, with your permission, I, perhaps, summarize all of the above.
            - Soviet cameras were the best, so you buy Nikon
            - the film is much better than a soulless number (this is how the unforgettable Cartier-Bresson bequeathed), so you switched to digital
            - you are an opponent of rushing to marketing gimmicks, so you bought two almost identical cameras
            - modern cameras are good enough not to change, so you change them
            - life in the USSR was the best, everything was enough and everything was enough for everyone, so it was exchanged for something that was not there
            - vinyl is better than mp3 by default, even if the master file was originally created in the editor with 16 bit and 44,1 kHz
            - you find it unpleasant to look at the work of modern photographers, so you look at them more and more to make sure that it is unpleasant to look at them
            - you are against thoughtlessly spending money, but if there was a surplus, you would gladly acquire what you do not need

Am I missing anything? it is important.

            • Roman

The topic of hucksters is not disclosed.

            • Alexander

I am shocked by your ability to build a consistent logical chain in any situation ... You are just great ...
I answer you to your logic:
              - Soviet cameras were just good, but who managed to buy Nikon? he was
happy ... No need to put the brand Nikon and the current
              shirpotrebovsky, Chinese ...
              - Film is a classic, digital is simple, convenient and fast ... Talk about quality
it makes no sense, it has long been normal ... But when matrices appear, the array of which
consists not of points, but of a continuous field (like a film) - this will be a real
breakthrough and invention ... In the meantime, digital is just an ordinary evolution in
photographs ... And I just meant that Henri used one camera very
for many years, and this only speaks about the quality and propriety of the cameras produced in those years,
which can not be said about the current "toys" ...
              - I am an opponent of a scam and my two cameras (not quite identical) have nothing to do with it ...
Besides Nikon, there is nothing else to buy from DSLRs ... Canon has no normal DSLRs ...
              - in the USSR there were high-quality products, free medicine and complete social
security is the most important thing for people ... Now everyone has jeans,
chewing gum and McDonald's, that is, what you said was lacking then ... But no
all that I listed at the beginning ... But for some reason now I no longer see
the joy of this chewing gum not among people, not on TV, or on the Internet ...
              - Vinyl will always sound better and more transparent, and your bitrates will not be about anything to anyone
they say ... The most important thing is the perception with your ears ...
              - I was not talking about the works of modern, talented photographers, of whom there are many
there is something to see, and about the wedding Nutcrackers, which are not photographers,
they have one goal - to mow the attendants ... And among the many portfolios of such
Nutcrackers, I, and not only me - have not seen a single normal photo ... And
this is noted by many people who used their services ... In addition to losing money,
              they got nothing else ...
              - And the last thing - I never acquire what I do not need - there is no sense in this ...
              - And the last thing - your entire answer was written by you in an ironic style, and I'm talking about
basic things in the understanding of normal people who don’t need a scam,
vparivanie, speculation, shit instead of products in the store and sheer deception in everything, in
as much as possible ... It's a pity that the majority do not understand this ...
reason and what happened ... Of course, speculators and thieves are now good
lives, but sooner or later all this will stop ...
              - And you sneer further, you can see how very few people live in this madhouse
okay ... then your humor is clear ...

              • Bujhm

And the water was wetter. I remember a popular Egyptian priests: the youth were better than the present. Particularly pleased with: "solid field matrix". It was a digital film, oddly enough, just the pixels-silver grains were disorganized and different in size. If you don't care what to shoot, film or digital, then the flag is in your hands - you are a happy person. As for the thieves and speculators-reptiles, the number has not changed - they have stopped hiding. It is better to be ironic over oneself, over others, it can come back to haunt. Not even so, it will certainly backfire.
I wish you success and peace of mind. And to all of us.

            • Roman

“There is no need to put the brand Nikon and the current
shirpotrebovskiy, Chinese ... ”- why don't you use that branded nikon, but use modern, shirpotrebovskiy Chinese?

“But when matrices appear, the array of which does not consist of points, but of a continuous field (like a film), this will be a real breakthrough and an invention…” - wonderful. It's just wonderful. The film is coated with crystals of silver compounds. And the size of these crystals is monstrous and grows as the sensitivity of the film increases, because only in this way the crystal changes its color and becomes darker, catching more photons. Film field uniformity is as much a myth as "vinyl sound quality"

“And I just meant that Henri used one camera very
for many years and this only speaks of the quality and brand of the cameras produced in those years, which cannot be said about the current “toys” ... ”- and the unpretentiousness of the public of those years. Henri was one of the first. Anyone who will now shoot, like Anri, will receive his own ten likes and no more. You can't live by imitation.

“Besides Nikon, there is nothing else to buy from DSLRs ... Canon has no normal DSLRs ...” - I say this based on ... nothing (s). Basically, most of your statements are just as pointlessly categorical.

“In the USSR there were high-quality products, free medicine and complete social security” - rivers of milk flowed in the banks of the jelly. They treated cancer, transplanted organs, even teeth - oh, foot drills, and no anesthesia. And the products ... Well, if your products are worse than in the USSR, these are your problems, not the advantage of the USSR. If your current barrack is worse than the Soviet one, do not try to pull others into the Soviet one, they will not appreciate it. Exit the barracks.

In Lviv in 1939 there were 5-digit telephone numbers, newspaper advertisements and special pipes for laying coaxial cable from the TV antennas in a newly built house. And then came the blessed USSR.

              • Alexander

It is useless to hold a discussion with people like you ... Probably, your products, which are also made of shit, are better, because their inscription “we are made of shit, which is better” ... Such as you, probably, and…. Then think for yourself ...

              • Alexander

On the question of Polish television before 1939.
The project to deploy TV coverage began in 1935.
In 1937, the first repeater was built.
The first experimental broadcast was in 1938.
The infrastructure was being prepared, as regular broadcasting
it was planned to start already in 1940. But war prevented.

      • Vitaly N

Bend over. This function does not increase the price, the matrix is the same, the processor is the same. On most DSLRs, Nikon doesn't even bother with the video aperture mechanism - and so it goes. Convenient additional function, like a spare wheel in a car: better with it than without it. You really get carried away

        • Alexander

It doesn't enter ... First of all, I'm talking about myself ... For me, it's a useless function ... If I need to shoot a video, I'll shoot it either on my phone - tablet, or on a camcorder ... But to shoot a video on a camera is just inconvenient and it's just show-off ...

    > Sony SLT will fully transition to the mirrorless paradigm
I read this phrase, did not understand, and ran to look at the date of the article.
    No, November 2019th.
Why is “waiting”? Sonya has already moved on for years.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Because some cameras continue to be produced and even more so are sold to this day, for example, the α99 II. When they are all discontinued and there will be no continuation, then it can really be considered that Sony SLT switched to Sony ILCE.

    • Alexander

I hope you will not deny that high-quality products (now they are not available), free apartments, free medicine and complete social security are a huge plus of the country of the Soviets ...? Hello, just an example, if you want to charm free Soviet medicine ... Go to some private dental clinic, before that, having checked all your teeth with a dentist friend and you will be surprised that with all your teeth in good condition, you will have half of your mouth in a private clinic , and even in such a neglected state ... This is one and very small example ... All private medicine in Russia is such a huge scam that the traders never dreamed of such a scam ... And there are many such examples ... Now it is good for oligarchs, hucksters, businessmen of all colors and stripes and officials ... And all normal people do not, not good ... The absence of state enterprises is just a scourge of the present time ... To spend money on hucksters, speculators and oligarchs is a humiliating and almost free activity ...

      • Oleksandr

The medicine was not of high quality, see above.
Free medicine, free apartments? No, my friend, nothing is free, everything is for your money. People and the tenth drli did not get what they should, everything went to the party. And just a little from the master's shoulder the rabble pardoned. And try to get these same apartments. Families lived for decades in pairs and worked hard and could not get, not free housing, but honestly earned. But the fruit of their labor was spent on murder in bloody wars and perverse terror, and on a truly bourgeois life of the party. They took away their land, private property, pulled out all the jewelry, locked them up in collective farms where they didn't even give passports. People were not even like slaves, slaves have rights, they were like cattle. And with their money, the greatness of hundreds of giant factories was built, which riveted rockets and ball bearings, but did not know how to make toilet paper. Even if you saved up, saved, saved money, you can't spend it on anything. If they bought something valuable, they immediately come and pack it as a traitor to the motherland. Taxi drivers in batches bought lottery tickets for an amount exceeding the cost of a car in the hope of winning a car, because otherwise you can't buy it, if you are not some kind of party boss, then everything is possible. Sausage according to GOST. Have you read these GOSTs? There might not have been meat. Guys. I understand the old people - they were grind, they breathed more fully, they loved passionately, everything was in bloom and life was ahead. Of course they had a better life ... Only because. And that's not all. Many went to cannon fodder in the wars in the name of the world revolution. Vaughn, at 39, together with the allied Germany, the world was tied up. Yes, and the very establishment of the Russian Federation has already admitted that, except for the Russian Federation itself, no one voluntarily joined in the scoop, they conquered everyone, with considerable blood. For what? For whom? Who felt good? Parties to the new imperialists who made everyone slaves. Maybe you just will be one of these?

Mirrorless cameras have one big jamb - this is a constantly working matrix, which, when heated, begins to make noise and eat a lot of the battery. Therefore, the DSLR will ALWAYS be!

    • Oleksandr

They eat more battery, yes. And who prevents manufacturers from making more batteries? Or should users buy more batteries, install a booster? And does everyone need 1000+ frames from one charge?
Yes, they no longer make noise. See a comparison of high ISOs and BZKs with similar matrices.

But! The bzk does not have a front / back focus, in principle.
Less flange - you can create lenses that are more compact / fast / sharp / affordable / marginal or balance these indicators.
At the moment, the only drawback is the viewfinder lag. And then it is less and less noticeable (well, it depends on the model of course).
The future is unambiguously for the bzk ... And already the present.

      • utchk

If I go to take pictures of birds in winter, why should I take a bag of batteries for a fashionable bzk if I can take pictures all day on one battery on the czk.

Quote “The capitalists have no other goal ... The sales of bezekralok will start to fall, they will come up with some other system and name it differently, just what people would buy ...“ ...
My God, the namesake, did not think that at the photo forum I would have to explain the basics of Soveideology. :)
The very idea of "proletariat-hegemon" is wrong, without knowledge of technology. the worker is nothing in itself! (for example, the whole history of the Soviets, or the bourgeoisie built it, or stole from them, or did something similar in appearance).
"Capitalists" is a soviet cliché, in reality-0 is an entrepreneur with knowledge (brains are valued, and hands are the tenth thing, today robots are preferred).
This is how I say this as the holder of a diploma from the University of Marxism-Leninism (from the 80s of the last century). And “variability” is the basis of evolution!
But, dear pros, my question is different. Maybe someone had to deal with the Olipus E-400?
I understand that this is a DSLR without any idea, today it’s an archaic, but judging by the bourgeois forums, the latter is with a matrix

  • Aleksndr

I'm sorry, some kind of glitch.
Olympus E-400, the last with a matrix from Kodak, conveys colors not like everyone else.
Is it (color rendition, etc.) really so or “calendars are lying”?
Threat. Ancient reviews, the thing is, an assessment from the position of those times, but from today?

I rent Nikon d90 and d600 from the beginning of their sales. It’s enough. I won’t change yet. Change the camera is not working while working. Why feed marketers.

I see - they are trying to turn a good site into a political garbage dump? Arkady, drive all these trolls off the site ...

Add the Nikon 1 system to this list. Killed seems to be in 2018

I would like to clarify. Not the titans themselves are waiting for the transition to the bzk, but the inevitable forced transition to the bzk awaits the photographers. At the whim of the Titans. It is not possible to earn so much on the additional release of debugged products. Therefore, the termination of the production of mirror equipment will ultimately force us to switch to a bzk. Yes, it will still be possible for a long time to develop the resource of inexpensive mirror optics on the adapter, but then the titans of the industry will take their toll and empty the wallets of photographers. Especially all this will rise in price, and from the reduction in production volumes. After all, ordinary users have now chosen smartphones. And they don't need cameras. Over the past 2004-2015 sales. Titans will produce 15% of the production volume from the old days. A good camera is just as much a luxury as a good hardware for good sound. Due to small sales.
True, people do not understand that an expensive smartphone that takes pictures tolerably in good light, with its small fixes, lasts only two years. Then the battery. And if he is replaced, he is often leftist. And then the brakes of the smartphone due to the fat of the software. In short, buying a smartphone for $ 1000 for two years, because of the photos it is sad and stupid, in principle. There is no jpg processability. Matrix 4x6 mm and tiny fixes above them. Pihel shifting and other lewdness.

    • Novel

Lewdness is screaming that $ 1000 for two years is HUGE MONEY and not doing anything about it.

      • Dmitry Kostin

        Well, no one is shouting.
Roman, 1000 + $ - 1000 + EUR is tangible money not only in the countries of the former USSR, but also in the USA, China and Japan, especially for a phone.
It's just that before, for these same $ 1000, a consumer bought a Nikon d7000 or Canon 60d, filmed cats, his relatives, vacation in Turkey / Egypt and Europe and was generally satisfied.
The camera can be kept on the mezzanine for 10 years and it will work, the main thing is to charge the batteries.
People are used to these prices and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and Iphone 11/12 Pro Max cost over $ 1000 in retail.

        • Novel

For this money, you can still buy a DSLR, and when it becomes impossible - in this segment there will be a comparable or better mirrorless camera in terms of capabilities. For $ 1000, you can get the iPhone 11-12. Companies are constantly creating new segments and repositioning existing lines. And in general, if you do not take into account individual trends for an increase-decrease in the cost of components, as well as inflation, a year later you can buy something better, faster, more efficiently for the same money than a year ago. It's just that your needs are constantly growing, and the camera that you licked at five years ago is no longer needed.

    • Novel

SLRs are waiting for the fate of film cameras. Pentax is trying to puff something, using your own arguments, but in fact it all boils down to "we do not know how to make normal mirrorless cameras and we will make DSLRs for crazy money."
The market will collapse in proportion to consumption, but it's not going anywhere. There will be enough technology for the next ten years. In ten years, you will have a sufficient selection of UPCs. Well, if for a number of reasons even equipment from the lower segment is not available, then the question is not for the titans, here the question is for completely different people.

It is a pity that Samsung stopped the production and development of their cameras. There was a soap dish from Samsung and I took a lot of photos on it, now I'm looking at photos, very good clean light and realistic transmission. Excellent photographs were taken.

  • mojtaba

Pentax have officially said, they will not leave the DSLR system. Going mirrorless is not a must. While I understand all the pros of that system, I will not have my main camera without a real viewfinder.

  • Dmitry Kostin

From today, you can already add Nikon to this list.
Several Japanese sources gave the following news:
    Updated on July 12, 2022 19:43 JST
“Nikon to stop making SLR cameras and focus on mirrorless models”
“TOKYO — Japanese camera maker Nikon will withdraw from the single-lens reflex camera business and shift digital offerings amid intensifying competition from smartphone cameras, Nikkei has learned.
It now plans to focus resources on mirrorless cameras, which have become mainstream products on the back of more advanced digital technologies.”

Here the direction is clearly visible that capitalists cannot produce the same lines for a long time, because sooner or later they will be overtaken by a crisis of overproduction, which they themselves gave rise to Adam Smith's stupid market economy system. We can assume with great confidence that the time will come anyway and the crisis of overproduction will cover both mirrorless cameras, and they (the capitalists), like it or not, will have to scratch their turnips on how to again at least slightly increase the sales of their bullshit and DSLRs will return again, in a new, updated quality (they will phrase it that way), but essentially the same DSLRs, only with a different appearance and, at first glance, with new filling, but essentially good old-new. That's all. Everything that capitalists do is not technical progress and not caring about people, but frantic throwing from side to side in order to somehow make a profit. But for some reason many people consider this to be evolution and progress. There is no progress here, but a banal thirst for profit

    • Victor

Of course, the “thirst for profit,” as you put it, must be present, camera manufacturers also do not produce them out of purely altruistic motives, they also want to eat, and this has ALWAYS been the case.
And the task of the consumer, having understood all this variety of new products, is to choose what he needs and update not for the sake of updating, but out of necessity (the appearance of a really important consumer property or the natural wear and tear of equipment)

    • Dmitry Kostin

It’s a pity my post wasn’t published, but I’ll write another one.
It’s strange to see such a post from Vasily in 2024.
There is such a thing called Competition in the capitalist world.
It’s one thing to produce LADA NIVA or UAZ Bukhanka for decades, and another thing to produce cameras, or rather, a competitive, successful product that will bring profit.
Without Profit, no company can be successful, and if the State does not sponsor such a company, it will become bankrupt.
