Material prepared Arkady Shapoval.
Optics to prove the powerful capabilities of the manufacturer, a product for display at exhibition stands. This is usually kept under glass. Of course, there will be individual customers for such a miracle as a DSLR trimmed with salamander skin or "Leica" in Swarovski crystals. It is prestigious to do such things.
“This is usually stored under glass.”
Under armored glass ...
Yeah, take DFT….
Svitlosila vishche 1? Tse is unscientific !!!! Zbochentsі.
They do 0.95, most likely because it “sounds cool” and “less than one”. At the same time, the difference between F / 0.95 and F / 1 is small. For example, the autofocus Canon 1 / 50L has f / 1.0, which is already 30 (thirty!) Years old! And many have 0.95, just not with such image quality.
As for the scientific nature, I will not say: not a professor. But I know that Kenon had a 0,9 aperture lens on the conveyor for a long time, back in the days of the film. And even earlier, at some “German”.
1.0. And autofocus. Then, in principle, they made much cheaper 1.2 in almost the same case.
Still 0.95.
And he stands by the way on ebay from 3k, of course, bu. About sharpness on the open modestly at the same time silent.
Ah, that's 0.95 for junkie bokeh rangefinders. Well, formally it was ...
2 kg of weight! Honestly, I thought that he would remain in development. Why the hell do even one copy?
So you think Nikon wouldn’t have made such a lens?
Arkady, here I am rooting for Nikon, but I don’t understand what and why they’ve been doing recently.
ZK Nikon had a known problem with the lens mount, which did not allow making autofocus ultra-fast lenses, as the hole is small and the contact group will overlap the rear lens of the lens and lead to unpleasant artifacts. Then they had a 50mm 1.2 lens, if I’m not mistaken, but it was manual.
And now they have fixed the problem with the bayonet and contacts, made a fast glass and ... it's manual again. Well, what is the profit, one wonders? Even the price would not be so terrible if there were autofocus. I understand that the lenses are heavy there, all the cases, but we do not live in the Stone Age. In addition, the DSLR Canon had an autofocus lens of the same aperture and it didn't hurt them. Or did Nikon decide to be like Leica and Zeiss? If I'm not mistaken, they have manual rulers. From the consumer's point of view, it looks more like the impossibility of doing autofocus, and not like the "exclusivity" of the lens.
PS Arkady, could you file some free SSL certificate on the site, otherwise people here enter personal data.
This lens is more for status.
Nikon will soon release 50 / 1.2 and everyone will be happy.
I will do SSL.

It has more marketing than practical meaning. This glass is taken in order to speak with me f0.95 for $ 8000.
In practice, it is 1.2 times more expensive than f4, but the image quality cannot be improved by 4 times ...
F / 1.2 is for work, and manual 0.95 is only for the “most of the best”. Still, it's nice that this is a NOCT with a classic 58 mm and uncompromising performance.
And do not forget that this Nikon is just a semblance of really expensive premium lenses, such as the Leica Noctilux-M 50 / 0.95.
They write that they originally wanted to make autofocus, but focusing was slower than in manual mode. In addition, the ultrasonic motor could not cope, and an external drive would increase the size and weight of an already large design. If you make it autofocus, you need to change the optical scheme, reduce the focusing lens and use internal focusing, which, in turn, lengthens the lens and leads to an increase in peripheral elements with a subsequent increase in size and weight: https://nikonrumors.com/2020/07/03/xiteks-interview-with-nikon-on-the-nikkor-z-58mm-f-0-95-noct-lens.aspx/#more-147422
Nikkor Z 50mm F / 1.2 S will be released soon. Apparently, it will be autofocus.

If people buy and actively use expensive manual glass manufactured by Carl Zeiss, then this can be used.
Of course there is a use ... Here are examples of applications:

You just envy the owners :)
very interesting, if you were given it, how often would you use it? 2kg for about fifty dollars! Of course, it will have outstanding optical qualities, it is not for nothing that it is so large, in fact, the center will work and even in the open will give results better than others, and even with 4 low-dispersion lenses and three aspherical lenses! Zeiss and Fochtländer are probably happy, from now on, their products are moving into the category of cheap, their sales will increase, since they will no longer seem expensive ...
How funny we readers are! Well, the firm has made a very high-tech little thing - yes to your health! She didn’t break— DID! Still for us, photographic lads! Yes, we can't afford it. And not for what! Well, be glad that someone will be able to work for them: he needs it, and he found it! That we wash the bones of everyone and everything ?!
You and I are also not deprived of the attention of optical companies: it’s breathtaking from the possibilities of choice! Can. we just snickered, huh?
Nikon announced on his website that he could not meet the demand for this lens, so customers now have to wait about a month. In China, even in our relatively small city (only 5,7 million), I have already seen it from two photographers ... These are the ones I gave!
