Canon EOS 6D Short Review and Impressions

Canon EOS 6D was officially unveiled on 17.09.2012/XNUMX/XNUMX and was released after such iconic cameras as Canon EOS 5D MarkIICanon EOS 5D Mark III и Canon EOS1DX.

Canon EOS 6D

Canon EOS 6D

I sometimes rent a Canon EOS 6D, for example, when there is no free access Canon EOS 5D Mark III... From the last that I shot with her - these are sample photos for review Yongnuo 85 / 1.8 at one of the wedding workshops.

All at once:

  1. The Canon 6D is the first member of Canon's new line of EOS cameras. it amateur full frame cameras... Despite the fact that the number '6' is greater than '5', the lineup of 'sixes' (Canon EOS 6D /Canon EOS 6D MarkII) a class lower than the lineup of fives: Canon EOS 5DCanon EOS 5D MarkIICanon EOS 5D Mark IIICanon EOS 5D Mark IV и Canon EOS 5Ds/Canon EOS 5dsr... To summarize very much, the Canon 6D is a blend of the cropped 60D / 70D line and the five line. The Nikon system has almost the same class of cameras - this Nikon D600, Nikon D610.
  2. The Canon 6D focuses on a 11-point focusing module. High precision cruciform center point. The high precision horizontal line sensor works only with lenses with large aperture (at F≤2.8, and with lenses 2.8 60D... Unfortunately, the Canon 6D sensor is not made with DUAL PIXEL technology, and therefore focusing in Live View mode is noticeably worse than that of cameras with more advanced technology.
  3. The Canon 6D uses an ISO range of 100-25.600, expandable to 50-102.800. Camera behaves well at high ISOs, noticeably better than the popular Canon EOS 5D MarkII... The DIGIC 5+ processor is responsible for image processing, exactly the same processor works in the cameras Canon 5D Mark III и Canon 70D, and in TOP models Canon 1DX/Canon 1DC used double digic 5+.
  4. JVI covers 97% of the frame and has a magnification of 0.71x
  5. The 20.2MP sensor is a balanced solution for a wide range of photo tasks. The difference in the size of the final image from cameras Canon EOS 5D MarkIICanon EOS 5D Mark III and Canon 6D is very difficult to feel.
  6. The burst speed is 4.5 fps, which is not much, but which is sufficient for a very wide range of photographic tasks. The speed is felt as being closer to 4 fps. The buffer is approximately 14 RAW shots. RAW files weigh an average of 20-25 MB.
  7. An excellent feature of the camera is video recording Full HD 1080p 1920 X 1080, 29.97 fps, MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 codecs, MOV format, there is a built-in mono microphone, for convenience you can use the HDMI output. Depending on the compression, the average bit rate is ALL-I: 90 Mbps and IPB: 30 Mbps. During video shooting, there is no constant tracking focus, and there is also no headphone jack.
  8. The camera only uses one format card slot SD and supports UHS-I high speed bus (write speed up to 104 MB / sec.). One memory card slot is the norm for amateur cameras.
  9. The main display of the camera is three-inch, not rotatable and not touch-sensitive at 1.040.000 points. There is also an additional monochrome display for quick setting of the main shooting parameters.
  10. Canon 6D has built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, which will be important for some amateur and professional. The camera can be controlled via Wi-Fi.
  11. Of course, the camera has many interesting and useful features, such as creating HDR, quiet shooting mode, etc. You can describe your useful camera observations in the comments.
  12. On Canon 6D, you can install third-party magic lantern firmware and get more functions than in the firmware version out of the box.

My experience

The six is a great idea and a laudable start for Canon. I think the Canon 6D is a very successful camera.

For videographers who don't need autofocus for video and are used to working with Canon, the Canon 6D is a godsend.

The minimum shutter speed is 1/4000 s. I do not consider it significant, but the lack of a built-in flash was a little surprising.

There is often a choice between the Canon 6D and Canon EOS 5D MarkII, in general I recommend the newer 'six'. Transition from Canon EOS 5D Classic, Canon EOS1 Rev, Canon EOS-1 Ds mark ii the Canon 6D is also fully justified. If funds for Canon EOS 5D Mark III is not enough, the Canon 6D at first can serve well as its replacement.

In my hands were 'sixes', the mileage of which was well over half a million, worn to holes. Despite being a hobbyist (advanced hobbyist) camera, the Canon 6D is capable of withstanding serious stresses during photography and video shooting.

Sample Photos on Canon EOS 6D

Lens shots YONGNUO YN85mm F1.8. Photos taken using RAW ('.CR2') file conversion with Canon original utility Digital Photo Pprofessional 4 (Canon DPP) without any changes. The control mode 'Standard' was used with the default settings '3/0/0/0'.

Original RAW ('.CR2') photos can be download from this link (79 photos, 1700 MB). More examples can be found in the review of the legendary lens. MINOLTA MC ROKKOR 1: 1.2 f = 58mm.

  • Sofia

I use canon 600D, I want to go to the full frame, there is a choice before 6D, 5D Mark ||, 5D Mark |||. Which is better? Help me please. I will be very grateful.

    • Roman

It depends on what priority is for you. In general, of course, it is better than the 5D Mark III in a whole set of characteristics. Especially the focusing system - 61 points. Plus support for two cards.
      6D has GPS and WiFi.
5D2 is the most budget-friendly option for “try full frame”. According to the characteristics, it is worse than the previous two, but enough for a start and there are a number of connoisseurs of the “legendary color” (very subjective in fact).

If funds permit and for work - definitely 5D3. If you just want to try - 5D2, but choose carefully - after all, the camera is not young, it has been used a lot for video shooting and the matrix may be with dead pixels. 6D is a compromise option.

      X

      • Yana

Good evening. Tell me if you choose between 5 mark2 and 6d which one to take? I will take a boo, unfortunately there is not enough money for Mark 3.

        • B. R. P.

          What to shoot?

          • Yana

            Portraits, people. Reportage.

            • Roman

Look at the price and condition. The difference is not just cosmetic, but not so fundamental. Maybe there is a significant factor - for example, tougher operation, or there are optics like 1.2-1.4, which desperately need a shutter speed of 1/8000 - then 5D2. Or vice versa, WiFi / GPS, cheaper SD cards - then 6D.

              • Arkady Shapoval

I do not like the choice of the focus point in 6d, as in the younger ruler. Perhaps magic latern solves the issue, but this is at your own peril and risk.

            • Roman

Yes, and an extra stop-and-a-half in ISO for noise - also for 6D.

  • Alexander

    Good time!
Arkady, tell me please. If you install a new firmware on 6ku, will the frame count be updated? Or will there be one in fact?
    Thank you!

    • Dmitry (e_dimas)

Greetings. I am not Arkady, but I will answer.
The firmware does NOT update and does NOT reset any frame counters.

    • US6IBD

By the way, to determine the need for a new firmware, look on the internet what they added to the device. My D610 came out with 3 new firmware, but they had almost no effect on the functionality. I use the factory.

the camera is gorgeous)) about the advantages of 5d3 - except for autofocus in real life, they are not IMHO. carrying a brick around your neck gets bored sooner or later. Wi-Fi is generally a must-have in the 21st century. I said everything.

    • Dmitriy

      I agree with you 100%.

  • Anastasia

I'm wildly sorry, my question is really not about this camera, but very close. Since I did not find a review, I will take the nerve and ask: is it worth taking 6 d mark 2? Has the device changed a lot after the usual 6?

    • Roman

The most important changes are 45 focusing points (instead of 11 or 13 - I don't remember how many one has), a more dust and moisture resistant body and a swivel screen. Well, on the little things - plus one stage of the working ISO, plus a couple of frames when shooting in series. If this is essential for you (for me, the number of AF points is very important, for example) - take a two.

      • Anastasia

in fact, I do not know if this is essential, because now I have an absolutely ordinary old Nikon d3200 with a whale lens. I understand that of course the difference will be straight heaven and earth. Since a good offer came from relatives to update, now I'm thinking about which full-frame one to take. I read about the Mark 2 - generally good, but they say it makes worse noise than its predecessor 6 D.

        • Pokemon

Perhaps the EOS R, which is somewhat cheaper, will be more interesting (if you take the camera with an eye to the future)

          • Anastasia

I'm afraid that it still costs prohibitively ... and plus a small battery volume, although everyone is now switching to bz

            • Pokemon

              No, not prohibitive.
              R5 and the divine 1DX mk2 / mk3 are outrageous.
To be honest, I would wait a bit because of the rise in currency rates this year.
The difference between the EOS R and the 6Dmk2 is in the price, but they fell in price, even though the exchange rates rose.
I think Canon will remove the EOS R and EOS Rp, since the R6 and R5 have entered the market.
I myself am looking at 5Dmk4, 1DX can not even afford a used one.
PS If it's not a secret, why did you decide to jump from Nikon to Canon? Nikon has cheap j610, d750.

              • Pokemon

                typo - d610 ... (although..maybe according to Freud?))

              • Anastasia

In fact, a lot of reviews are directly full of that Canon's picture is super! My brother has 6 d, he says that he is delighted, so I think, why not try it, if a fotik arrives as a gift))) although I have nothing against Nikon, the device is good, though I took a used one, now something then focusing on the lens in manual mode began to fail ... I don't know what it is connected with. Although Nikon, unlike Canon, has a built-in flash, the truth is it is about nothing, I had a third-party one, it even helped out.

              • Anastasia

But what about the small battery size?

              • Pokemon

                Anastasia, see the reviews.
As you can see from them, this is not a problem. People just bought 1-2 spare batteries and that's it.

              • Ivan

About the exchange rate. Do you think life will get easier next year? The crisis is just beginning.

              • Roman

Nah. If you take a mirrorless camera, then only with an ibis. I would take something on a standard Canon battery, even an inexpensive 5D2 or a cheaper 6D2, slowly a park of optics for it, which will also become cheaper against the background of BZ-analogs, and then P5-P6 - what will be there by that time. With the assurance that my lenses will work and the batteries will fit. EOS R (and especially RP) is the first sign. Without lenses, it is of little use, the technologies are not perfected, the battery survives - you should not mess with it.

              • Pokemon

I don't know, I was interested in EOS R and there are not so many complaints about it. Here are the complaints about 5Ds / 5DsR DSLRs that you can see more often. There were also complaints about 5Dmk4.
It seems to me that there is no crime here, because modern electronics really consumes more electricity than before.
The same is with heating / overheating of chambers.

              • Roman

I have a 7D2, even with the GPS turned off, the battery is twice as fast as the 5D2. I can imagine what would happen if a working viewfinder was attached to all this splendor. Therefore, I am only waiting for IBIS, it will be valuable on its own, even without fancy new glasses, giving a second life to the existing park. Without it - a mirrorless for a mirrorless is not the best investment.

        • Alexey

          if nikon, then D3s

  • Anastasia

so what would you advise me, gentlemen?!))) is it worth taking 6d2 mark? how about misses and the camera in general?

    • Alexey

an engineer will not buy it (because its reliability and, in general, its construct cause a toothache), but a photographer is very likely. a reasonable alternative, if you consider the 5DMkII old, it is 5DMkIII or D3s

  • Anastasia

or 6 d and glass to it? although the 6d2 type has a rotary screen and more focusing points)

    • Pokemon

      Much depends on the tasks.
If this is just a camera for modest family photography, leaves, cats, flowers, vacations (although vacations can be different), then 6D or even 5D Mk2 is quite suitable.
These cameras are enough to get acquainted with the full frame.

      • Pokemon

Although why am I ... took and offended decent cameras.
Much depends on experience / dexterity and lenses.
The cameras are popular and many excellent shots were taken with them.

      • Alexey

but it is extremely unkosher to write 6D and 5DMkII in one sentence)) because sheha is an amateur and extremely unreliable toy, while the eternal second mark is AK-47 in every sense.

        • Anastasia

that is, is 6dm2 better than 6d?

          • Alexey

Nastya…. Sheha is an amateur toy. Unlike. But it's your business. Right now they will run up and say that de 5DMkII is as old as ROME, well, don't yell. As an engineer, who has disassembled and repaired all this many times, I have my own opinion. So Pobed))

            • Arkady Shapoval

Evaluating the camera only from the position of an engineer does not give a complete picture of what is happening, and even more so for the amateur and photographer.

              • Alexey

a lot of cameras passed through my hands. and it was I who, to put it mildly, tired of repairing. no longer take them for repair. that's the whole assessment of this camera)) there is still a nikon 600 \ 610 - exactly the same horror inside. and, for example, all the "units" of both the canon and the nikon inside are very well made, like the 5DMkII-IV, as well as the nikon D200, D300s, D2Xs

              • Anastasia

What do you think, Arkady? just did not find a review, only on its predecessor - 6 d2

            • Anastasia

Lesh, and then why all these comparative tests, analyzes, praising 6D2 in comparison with 5d2?

              • Alexey

M - Marketing. Selling something nada. You better tell me what exactly and where are you going to shoot?

              • Rodion

If you need to shoot, and not think about how you will carry the camera to Alexey, then take 6d2 and do not worry. For the lover of usability, she has the very thing - thanks for guessing the rotary screen to add. This is a real killer feature, I think. Nothing else matters. Cheap amateur DSLRs from Canon are very tenacious - my 600d 100k quietly filmed in 5 years, can this really be worse?
Alexei, what else did you not advise Zuyka some young lady at the same time?

            • Dima

And what's wrong with 6d? By the way, they run for 300-400 thousand and continue to work. There are a lot more questions with Nikons.

          • Dim

Last week a professional photographer took pictures of my youngest daughter at the ballet. Fortunately, EXIF is not worn out: 6d2 + some reportage zoom at 2.8 + processing in Lightroom on a Mac. Literally in a couple of days there was an open lesson - I took the D700, D300 and D3300 + the flash was inconvenient to use and so there was only one with DSLRs + I don't process pictures. At the pros, in many frames, I saw the “same” skin tone, as for me sand from colored pixels at extremely low ISO. I will not say that the conditions are simple - everything is actually in one color, i.e. white and pink and a bright spot of the sun from the window in the middle of the hall. As for me, up to D700 with a smooth, in terms of color uniformity, the rest of the gradient is very far and, oddly enough, especially 6d2.

            • Seladir

The 6DM2 has a very poor matrix in terms of lightening shadows, almost anything would be better, including the predecessor 6D. So processing and the lack of effective noise reduction in lightroom can easily lead to such a sandy effect, it's not about skin tone at all.

              • Dim

Skin is skin, and tone is tone, isn't it? If the camera draws a bunch of lurid squares on the skin, then this is how it perceives its color. Why doesn't the D700 draw a weird mosaic even at ISO 1000, but here at ISO less than 400? Apparently the artist (camera) sees this way.

              • Dim

I, of course, understand that during processing you can smooth out a lot in editors and change colors, but what does the camera have to do with it, as they say ...

              • Seladir

                > the camera draws a bunch of lurid squares on the skin

You do not know this, since you are looking at already processed images.

                > D700 does not paint a weird mosaic even at ISO 1000, but here at ISO less than 400 it is

Noise at high ISOs and lightening noise are two different characteristics. For example, 6D at high ISO behaves noticeably better than the Sony A7M2, but in the case of stretching underexposed images, the noise situation changes to the opposite.

                > during processing, you can smooth out a lot in the editors

In this case, on the contrary, and this is the whole point. A plus exposure correction in the editor and / or a tonal curve change + sharpening + no noise reduction = great recipe for a sandy effect on the skin, among other things.
On the other hand, this is usually only a problem for those viewing pixels, not photographs. But occasionally I saw examples from photo shoots, where even when viewing on a laptop screen without zooming, an extended noise climbed out.

            • Arkady Shapoval

Indeed, after processing, this is no longer 6 dm2, but the vision of the photographer, perhaps even such processing is justified

  • Alexander

    Good evening!

I used Nikon D5500, wondered about buying a full frame camera.
Photography is mostly not commercial, for myself. More interested in landscape, street or architecture than portrait photography.

I watched a lot of different options from Nikon and Kenon, other brands do not attract.

I ask for tips or advice about the new Nikon D750 or Canon 6D mark II models, their price range is the maximum for me. Perhaps there are models from a used segment of this class.

    Thank you

  • Astrologer

How different are the jeepgs at the exit from the camera at 6d and d610, what issue to buy, I shoot nature. for 6d there is optics and for 610 there is nothing.

  • Caroline

the kindest time of the day!
Please advise what to take to 6d after 50 1.8 cm?
I'm thinking about 35 2.0, but I doubt something, I want something less

  • Alexander Pivovar

    Thanks for the review.
Not so long ago I decided to try FF. Stuck with choosing between Canon 6D and Nikon D610. I read all sorts of things, both about DD and about color ..., I reread a lot of reviews. The eternal "holivars" are very enraging. After reading the reviews, Arkady realized that both cameras are decent, and which one you don't take, I won't be disappointed.

Everything was resolved rather chaotically ..
Rented a 6D with a 50mm F1.4 USM. The camera fits very comfortably in the hand, just like a native one. After the Sony A65, I missed the built-in flash, but the higher working ISO makes up for it with interest. The photos turned out to be juicy and interesting. And it would seem that this is it ... I got into the OLH, saw many good Body options for 12 - 000 UAH with mileage from 16 to 000k. The only thing that was embarrassing was the worn lower parts of the carcass, even on small runs. Sore all 25D.

And then I stumbled upon an advertisement for the sale of D610 (22k mileage) + 85mm 1.8G for 18 UAH. And suddenly he became a Nikonist. Happy as an elephant. The photos are beautiful, there is a built-in puff, the control, although unusual, is very convenient. Although, the 000D lay better in the hand and did not even require getting used to ergonomics.

The message is: whatever camera you choose, you won't be disappointed. Both are worthy.
The 6D is a very good camera, with its own advantages and disadvantages. Takes great pictures. Dispute "Canon or Nikon?" I consider it inappropriate, and my answer to it is “YES!”.

    • Alexander

But what about skinton? So I, too, hesitate between Nikon D600 / 610 and the Canon comparable to them due to the fact that I read about the green skin tone for Nikons, and for the Kenen it is divine ...

      • Specialist

Yes, there are no green skins there (if you do not take d800). The 600 has, perhaps, a natural color reproduction, almost without embellishment. And you do not read about what kind of photos someone has, but watch them if the monitor is normal.

        • kotofei

Exactly! Regarding the curves of monitors. We must proceed from the fact that all monitors are crooked and your beloved one is definitely crooked =) Download the CLtest tool, it won't remove all the jambs, but it will definitely “straighten” the picture even on cheap e-IPS.

      • kotofei

The skintone curve problem is a lazy problem. Understand what color profiles are and why you DO NOT NEED them =)
CMOS Nikon cameras have a problem with emerald grass - a diamond is green, in common people “brilliant green” or slurry for treating abrasions is obtained. You can whip up the braid with the WB amendment, you can remove it in post-processing. One thing I can say for sure - shoot in RAW. After all, many moments can be caught just once, it will be a pity for a frame that is spoiled by JPG processing by intra-camera.
By the way, it may sound like heresy to you, but the difference in the picture from different RAW converters is MORE than from different cameras from different manufacturers.

        • Dima

Emerald acid green is a trouble for all Nikons, it may not be only for those Nikons who have their own matrix, not Sony. And he doesn’t correct anything, bb, and if you reduce the saturation, then some kind of crap comes out. And the skinton also suffers from this. On canon, everything is done in a couple of seconds with a couple of clicks and beauty. If it’s so easy to correct, try to bring the picture to a common denominator in the editor so that you don’t see the difference, I’m sure you’ll fuck the Nikon frame to fit the canon)

  • Paul

Hello! I have Olympus OM-D Em-10 and want to buy FF, the options are as follows: 6d, 5d2, 1dc2 / 3 .. honestly, I don’t know what to take. I shoot portraits, sometimes reportage, weddings and so on.

    • Alexey

de-eski are both beautiful. all are beautiful)) only the display units are not very good. but that's okay, because there's nothing to see there. AF is not wrong, BB is not lying, and the histogram can be seen anyway.

      • Dmitry Kostin

        I agree:)

      • Paul

Did you personally shoot it? What can you tell us about them? It's just interesting personal experience, so to speak .. otherwise give 40k for a carcass with a mileage of 100k))) I'm talking about 1dc3

        • Alexey

skoka runs? only a hundred? this is a laugh, not a run. they are three million without any problems.

        • Dmitry Kostin

If the mileage of 100 thousand is confirmed by the service, then this is not much.
For 1Ds_mk3, the mileage can be correctly determined only in the service due to the peculiarities of this model (google forums).
I have two 1Ds_mk2 and one 1Ds_mk3. 1Ds_mk2 are very Byzantine cameras. It is necessary to devote more time to working with the exposure meter, the AF module and exposure meter love "light" lenses. The DD is too narrow and the AF module does not like darkness.
Ergonomics have been improved on 1Ds_mk3, the AF module works much faster in low light. DD is wider. 1Ds_mk3 as well as 1Dx fell noticeably after the release of Canon UPC.
For reporting and weddings, I would probably take 1Dx, as a variant of 5Dmk4 or EOS R.
I have 1Ds_mk2 / mk3 - cameras for the soul and for leisurely shooting in good light.
I think you can report on 1Ds_mk3 and maybe even shoot weddings, they will be mistaken for a professional photographer :)
The color profile is very good for both cameras and does not require editing (1Ds_mk2 is even very good, but you need to be very careful and avoid exposure errors because there is a risk of getting a frame with out-of-the-box highlights or dead shadows).
Nowadays, in terms of commercial photography, times have become more difficult - there is no point in buying expensive equipment, because the customer is unlikely to appreciate it.

I just work in two companies on a permanent basis) I am not a private owner :)

I have a Nikon D4 for a part-time job. Sometimes I took a Nikon D750 with me (I had it for about a year or a year and a half).
By the evening of D4, the neck, shoulders and back are already begging for mercy. The weight of the D750 made itself felt less and in the evening you don't feel the same tiredness as from the D4.
BUT, the D750 made me spend more time in the editors.
Here's what I mean - if you take a camera for work, then you need a rough understanding, it will be reportage work “in the fields, forests, and in the rain and snow and at night” then you need something strong and dustproof. Type 1DX, i.e. something monumental to hope that won't let you down. If the task is different and everything is much simpler, then it is better to look at something light like 6D, 5Dmk3 or immediately UPC like EOS Rp, EOS R. And as a lens according to the situation, many people have enough 24-105 / 4 L IS and 70 -200/4 L IS. 1DS_mk3 may also work, but in terms of working ISOs, it will be inferior to 6D, bzk and 1DX.

    • Victor

Pavel - why do you need these brick antiquities, especially for work (1dc..dc2), leave them to collectors. From your list, only 6d from under an amateur is suitable, but it is better to keep an eye on something fresher - 6d Mark 2 or 5d Mark 3 at least.

      • Paul

The prices are biting, and the reliability of 6d is depressing compared to 5d. And 5dm3 in Moscow for 70-80k with less than a hundred parts mileage. So :)

        • Gregor_S

          @Pavel
What is wrong with the reliability of the 6ki?
          I hear mostly positive reviews

          • Paul

The shutter is less reliable, all made of plastic and becomes unusable pretty quickly. There was something else, I don't remember what.

            • B. R. P.

SHUTTER made of plastic ??? O_O

      • Paul

I bought 1ds3, I am happy as an elephant :)
Now I think what kind of zoom to take, 24-104 Dad insists, but I still don't, since 24-105, although universal, is dark for rooms, and there are a lot of optics jambs.

        • Dmitry Kostin

          24-105 / 4 ask in any s / c disadvantages.
Both in the Copy Moscow and in private masters one and the same thing - a train.
The camera is great, I also have one :)
          Congratulations!
          As for the lenses - here either as always: 16-35 / 2.8L, 24-70 / 2.8L, 70-200 / 2.8 or 4

          • Paul

            I bought a 24-105 from sigma and a 70-200 / 2.8 Mark 3, of course, everything with a stub.

    • kotofei

Have you filmed weddings with mikru? For money? Aren't you ashamed in front of the client?

      • Victor

And you ask the photographer SLAVA from Yaroslavl whether he is ashamed in front of the client now?
And why should he be ashamed at all)))

      • Paul

The colors are cool, the customers were satisfied) the sharpness is at a height, the optics drawing was gorgeous, examples of micros in straight hands (I will not say that they are straight for me) Alexander Tin has in insta, there is everything about Kazakhstan and Korea on his page, so can't go wrong.

      • Novel

Most tech masturbators can be asked another question: “YOU filmed (anything) for money. Do not be ashamed in front of the client ”regardless of the technique used.

        • Dmitry Kostin

I filmed (though not with micro) and yes, for the money.
          And yes, I'm not ashamed.
Roman, aren't you ashamed of your comments on Radozhiv?

          • Dmitry Kostin

Even if they were part-time jobs, they paid for them.
It seems to me that the days have passed when photography could feed as it used to.
There are too many people with cameras who are ready to shoot for free and even pay extra on their part.

          • Novel

I'm not ashamed of the comments. It should be a shame to shoot badly for years and not progress, and also take money for it. And to ask questions whether someone is ashamed of their technique is stupid. If you have the skill, you can shoot a wedding with anything. In the absence of skill - to fill up on anything. People don't even know how to frame the scene with the existing models, not to mention seeing these scenes and finding solutions. If only you do, play on the technique, thinking about WHAT to shoot, and not WHAT and HOW the skill will not appear by itself.

            • Dmitry Kostin

Roman, I'm talking about something else. Often newbies think that they will buy a full-frame camera and everything will fly for them, but this is not so. Or some particular lens will also take off.
It seems to me that everyone went through this, even if not everyone admits it. It comes with experience: someone earlier, someone later, someone never ... I understand that you have a good experience in photography, it is just that there are enough caustic comments on Radozhiv and it does not get better from this.
I am ashamed of some of my comments, but they can no longer be corrected or deleted.

            • Victor

“And to ask questions whether someone is ashamed of their technique is stupid. If you have the skill, you can shoot a wedding with anything. In the absence of the skill - to fill up on anything "

Vatimenno! Simply (for some reason) among people who consider themselves photographers there is often an opinion that there are “serious” cameras, but there are “frivolous” ones, and this “frivolity” in the second case is enough to somehow affect the final photographs. By the way, it is not uncommon for the same serious guys to shoot with “serious” cameras in the way that some would be ashamed to shoot with “frivolous” cameras. But that is another story :)

  • Mr. Boggy

I thought a lot about buying this camera, back in 2013 ... But one thing stopped - its color in the pictures. It is ordinary, reportage-cropped, too simple. No fat content like old ff. I looked at hundreds of frames on the net, none of them impressed. Plus, reviews about the focus are worse than those of 7d ... If it went at the price of 5d of the first or second, I would take it. And that's why I took the first 5d, since 2013 he has been with me as a “sprinkler” camera for all sorts of different beautiful shots where a wide angle of 28-24mm is needed. All the same, I often focus on the central one. What would you take now? Ds MK3! The third penny is in second place at will, its color takes a little pink on the skins ...

  • Ivan

How for me the transition from 600 will be more logical to 6dmark2

    • Mr. boggy

6d mk2 is a 1000d type castrato, just a full-frame, dubious upgrade, plastic, pentamirror. Again, on a dark viewfinder sewed on soap? It’s better to 5D MK3 or save up for MK4, the cameras are of better quality, strong for work. But right now, advisers will come running that “and the crop is normal, the photographer is shooting and not the camera” ...

      • Mr Huugi

did you shoot at least on him, castrato?

  • sylphidae

Good afternoon everyone. I will also add my opinion to the fountain of emotions and discussions of this camera.
Everyone talks about the central point. The others hate too. I can't understand why. I will attach a photo from the temple below. One of many. I went there to test the autofocus system. In a temple without an overhead light, but only by candlelight, absolutely all points work perfectly. Both central and lateral. Choose the right place to focus. In the same temple, under the same conditions, I went to test Canon 7d with its 19 crosses. Didn't notice any difference.
I will add a little bit of information that is simply not interesting to most. But given that the site is mostly for recruits and has not yet invested in high-quality optics, I think this moment will be interesting.
It is very convenient to focus on the Kaono 6D with manual lenses. You don't even need a confirmation chip. The reason for this is the peculiarity of the structure of the viewfinder. Unlike most advanced cameras, the viewfinder of this camera does not have a built-in LCD screen, and if you remove the battery, the viewfinder does not “go out”. And thanks to its absence, you can see perfectly when you get into focus. On 7D, I could not do this. It is difficult to catch on it that fine line that autofocus catches. 6 is easy.
Below is a photo from Jupiter 37 with an adapter without a chip. In cloudy weather in St. Petersburg.
And everything else is said to the point and very well.

  • sylphidae

Photo from a semi-dark temple at 6D. And the picture shows that it was focused far from the middle point.
