VEGA 2/20

The VEGA 2/20 film-shooting lens fell into my hands.

VEGA 2/20

VEGA 2/20

The lens is designed for 16 mm film and does not cover the digital APS-C sensor and even Micro 4/3. On APS-C, I either cropped to the square, or used the 1.5X digital zoom and immediately got the result without vignetting.

VEGA 2/20 lens was mounted on the camera Sony NEX-3N using an adapter M42-Sony E and macro rings 7 mm thick. The frame rim tightly sat in the macro ring. With further alterations of the lens, I did not bother.

Of the features: VEGA 2/20 has a six-blade aperture, which forms stars at closed values, and the lens also has an unusual 'vintage' bokeh:

    Handsomely! Even more!

  • Alexey

Is there a top lens on the site?

What is it possible to try manual first? Or something better in terms of price and quality?

    • Michael

No) I have not seen this. There are a couple of topics

      I think, just for you

If on Nikon with a rheostat, it is best, IMHO, to take Helios 81H, aka Arsat, also as a variant of Kaleinar 5H. They have aperture pairing, so you can safely shoot in the automatic aperture priority, just twist the focus. On younger Nikon models (D3000, D5000 series and also D7500) there is no rheostat.

      • Nikon Canon

On the younger ones, you can shoot in Live View or Screen with the menu of ISO circles, shutter speed, aperture (see photo).

But, this lens is designed for mirrorless. Great for Nikon 1, can vignet on micro 4/3

what for to buy high-aperture optics and then close the diaphragm on it I don't understand))))
on my helios there was no desire to close it at all

        • B. R. P.

It depends on what to buy for. Sometimes you have to cover up)

      • Sergei

G 81n and Kaleinar for the price as a teenage team against a champion)))

  • zengarden

Cinema lenses have an interesting picture.
There is a lens for surveillance cameras, Fujian 35mm 1.6 CCTV C-mount, so even on APS-C you can shoot. Of course, vignetting, the curvature of the field, all things. But he draws in a peculiar way.

    • zengarden

      Here he is.

  • Oleg

    Bokeshka is beautiful

  • anonym

The mistake crept in. The diaphragm is six-petalled.

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Fixed

  • Alexander

I really liked it, I think it is under the crop or am I mistaken?

    • Michael

No, he's less. Arkady wrote the same

Duck no one has been reading anything for a long time. There is an easter egg in the examples, Lynx sent.

        • Rodion

Ahh, I finally found it again, I've been looking for it for a long time!

  • koba

very interesting photographs, similar to pictures from a monocle, only sharper and more interesting ... It is very annoying that there is not a single photograph at diaphragms 2,8 and 4. There is only one at 5,6, but at such aperture the hexagons already stick out and the picture is uninteresting. I am writing this because the same Helios with an inverted front glass just becomes interesting at slightly covered apertures - 2,8 and 4, that is, the center becomes sharper, but here at F2 everything is not sharp, which to highlight the subject of photography (for example, colors ) is not suitable, such a picture on F2 will be more in demand when shooting certain landscapes, architecture, evening and night silhouettes, etc. Anyway, thanks for reviewing an interesting lens.

  • Alexey

    Awesome pictures from him!

  • Alexey

Tell me how to make such a lens with the Canon 550D?

    • Arkady Shapoval

No way. Even macro will not shoot. Only at the BZK can you come up with something.

      • Iskander

        What is his working distance?

        • Arkady Shapoval

          17 mm

          • Sergei

Hmm ... in order for it to work normally for Nikon, you need to remove the mirror there)))

    • Iskander

With adapter M42 to Canon EOS.

      • Arkady Shapoval

No. This option will not work.

Photos of plants are simply magical, literally, like a picture from a fairy tale.

  • Sergei

It is interesting to compare this Vega 20mm / 2 for a 16mm movie with the World-47 20mm / 2,5 in the picture for a full frame at least in micro 4/3 format.

  • Anonymous 2.0

It is also used by Vega 7, Vega 7e. 7e version with c-mount thread, came with “Alpha semiautomatic device” camera. I didn't shoot them, I can't say anything. But, if you go to ebey, and enter “vega 73 ″“ vega 7 ”, you will be surprised how much they sell)))))

  • Max kotov

    Cool pictures, thanks!

  • Nikita

I put it on the M43 (c-mount-M43), it does not focus beyond 50-60cm.
Am I missing something or does the lens need to be redone / use another adapter?

    • Artem

You need to adjust, disassemble the lens, and adjust infinity, there is also Vega-7E, for Nikon 1 focus up to two meters
I didn’t know how to make it out

  • Anatoly

    CAN YOU SUPPLY SONY 3500?
    HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND

    • B. R. P.

You can put something, but 1. it does not even cover the micro, not to mention the APS-C 2. there will be no focusing without a focuser, except that macro, focusing by moving the camera back and forth.

  • Anatoly

    Thanks for the reply.
And what a reason you can think of he is not alone

    • B. R. P.

Reasonable is for your SONY to look for something Soviet M42 threaded mirror (like Helios 44) or rangefinder on M39 (Jupiter, Industar), or a manual Chinese, if you really want a manual for an inexpensive one.

  • Anatoly

    not suitable for any modern?

  • Ivan

I have one paired with MIR 11M from the same 16mm Kyiv.
It covers the bmpcc matrix (which is small, not 4k), where the matrix seems to be slightly smaller than the standard M43.

  • Nikita

There is a 7E version for a different mount, with a fine thread at the end (C-mount?). More beautiful frame, pattern and interesting highlights. Attached is the result from Olympus E-PL5

  • Nikon J2

On Avito I found a couple of types, conical and with thread, on the wiki they write that this is Krasnogorsk and C, that is, it is enough to buy an adapter C->m42 for it, and you don’t need to redo anything else?!
