Alexander Limberg gave me an interesting lens - AF MC HELIOS-44M-4 58mm 1: 2.
This is original MC HELIOS-44M-4 58mm 1: 2 [plant 'Jupiter', Valdai, 6 petals], crossed with the original Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm 1: 1.8, MKII version.
Appearance
Features
- Nikon F mount
- optics from MC HELIOS-44M-4 58mm 1: 2
- automatic accurate and fast focusing (with the ability to focus to infinity) with any Nikon camera that has a focus motor
- filter thread 52 mm
- MDF approx. 60 cm, maximum magnification ratio approx. 1: 8
- seven aperture blades
- auto iris control
- automatic metering exposure to any Nikon central brake call center and ZK (except for the D3400 / D3500). Metering problems exposure no
- diaphragm ring lock locked
- in terms of the Nikon system it FX, AF, NON-D, NON-G lens, and even with a gold 'professional border
- в EXIF you need to take into account the correction of the number F by about a quarter step
- weight is exactly 200 grams
In its work, the lens is like two drops of water similar to Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm 1: 1.8 with the only significant difference - the output is a classic Helios-44-like picture. Once again: functionally this is the original fifty dollars Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm 1: 1.8 with optics from MC HELIOS-44M-4 58mm 1: 2.

Material prepared Arkady Shapoval.
That’s just because he could cross +100500!
Skillful fingers.
Really beautiful photos, thanks Arkady, a very good lens.
Added a lens view on the Nikon D700.
On Ebay, a respected master sells this rework lens for 999 Euros.
Shipping costs are not included.

In my opinion a little expensive for this product.
Only for wealthy fans of Soviet optics.
Apparently the diaphragm remained on the product Nikon.
Therefore, it is very important to maintain the exact distance between the two optical units.
I hope that everything is set correctly.
1100 dollars + 26 dollars for shipping. It turns out that this is the most expensive lens that I use now.
Top Soviet fifty dollars with a gold ring)
I just don’t want to do these lenses, and this is the price. There is no time for this, I was going to do it for a long time, but somehow it wasn’t there.
Something the master went too far with the price tag. For 1100, you can take a zeiss with a really nice picture, albeit a manual, and not a biotar rigid picture. And how many beautiful 58 1.2 there are!
I just don’t want to make these lenses, and that’s the price.
Curly for the money. IMHO, it makes no sense. But the master is a master, and suddenly someone will buy it.
I just don’t want to make these lenses, and that’s the price.
Such a price, since the lens is not available. I have all the lenses with such a price that they would not jerk with orders. There is no time for this.
Everyone was interested, settled hope, but you can not buy, bebeba. Have to rely on Sonya and focus picking
You can buy, but it turns out to be expensive, it takes a lot of time. I still live in Italy, and the hourly wage is quite high. Plus shipping, I just don't want to waste time. So I do it for myself, or as a gift. But of course there are orders , or something to exchange ... This is not my main income, but just a hobby.
There was even an idea to make a video. Manual. Even the first part. But because of envious trolls, I had to postpone this matter.
Clearly, in any case, you are a great fellow!
Thank you. Whenever you overpower yourself, I will do the manual.
Great.
Is it possible for an ordinary person to do such a remake at home? or need technical education?
It would be very interesting! 👍
Hello. I admire your work, it inspires you to create something similar. I would be very grateful if you would nevertheless create a manual for creating and adjusting autofocus on manual lenses

Autofocus is not difficult to do. But is there aperture control done there?
Read the description.
Not a word about the diaphragm in the description. So it may not be there, or there may be no jump rope. And given the black tape instead of the blue, it definitely suffers from back focus :)
There are suspicious irregularities under the electrical tape. But for such a price, the diaphragm must be automatic. The description is written as - Made in good faith! But the electrical tape is black ... it must be at least blue!)))
And what is the lens wrapped with electrical tape? Design?)) Autofocus could do, the rest was not enough patience))) It is doubtful))
And I did this, only from Helios 77m-4. Sergey helped me (Sergey is Alexander’s mentor))) I even did 2 of them, I kept the sharpest for myself, the second I sold on Ebee to Australia.
Yes, contact Sergey Suslov for lenses, he may agree to do not order. Helios 77m4 is not difficult to do, but accuracy and an exact tool must be observed to get a good, sharp result. Lens alignment is also needed. Helios 44m4 is technically much more difficult to do, I do not advise trying to avoid disastrous results .. Contact specialists)
That's what happened)
Respect and respect to the author! Himself transplanted the lens block from Helios in 18-55. Autofocus works, but with the aperture did not come up with anything worthwhile. And left it open.
From 18-55, theoretically, it can and can be done with an automatic aperture. But technically, it's like inventing a new lens ..) Without aperture, it makes no sense to do autofocus, just for fun if)
A discussion of this lens can still be found here. https://nikonrumors.com/2019/10/05/mc-helios-44m-4-58mm-12-lens-information-and-sample-photos.aspx/
why at the Kiev Arsenal no one Arsat 50 2.0 thought of transplanting into the building from Nikon?
Buy housings from Chinese Eng 50 \ 35mm 1.8 and insert Arsat into them - the demand will be Bomb :-)
It is economically unprofitable, even at cost price it will be a little expensive, plus work. Yes, and just like that, kicking the Nikon system legally will not allow anyone.
Added review for one more Helios with ultrasonic motor and image stabilizer... A budget option!
The three of them will be tricky, if you can focus on the camera)
I would not refuse autofocus on Helios 44, but there should be manual aiming. Helios is a portrait painter, draws a face well, the rest is not for him. And the face is only manual aiming, the process must be controlled. Let me remind you that professional systems like Hassel, Lake require more human participation than small-format cameras, autofocus is not really needed there, with such a viewfinder. And Nikon and Pentax have gadgets for manual glasses, for example, Pentax has an af 1.7 adapter. the aperture is lost, though, and the focus increases, I did not notice any losses. Kilobaks is too cool for af. As for marriage without af, I shot on film back in the last century with helios, 2-3 frames of marriage from film. It's about sharpness. Good luck, 5-6. With the advent of digital, nothing in general has changed. Faces manual aiming, birds on af. I shoot on Pentax K-1
Helios - facial portraiture? Is that on the crop ...
“Kilobaks is too cool for af” - not very expensive for Europe, and even for masterful manual work.
I assembled an autofocus 44m-4 a week ago.
I will say this - helios manual and autofocus - two different lenses.
Jupiter 12 85/2 immediately went into reserve after autofocus appeared on Helios.
And this is in the presence (now) 50 1,8 2 versions, 50 1,8 stm, 50 1,4. All 3 are inferior to helios in terms of creativity. In terms of background torsion, they don’t even stand next to each other. Although I would not say that it twists a lot .... The picture is closest to 1,4. On it, too, you can get an interesting picture. The rest give a beautiful, correct picture ... But such a correct one, already sickening .... No glare, no glare.
There are misses on autofocus, too, by the way. Out of about 100 frames, the focus missed 10 times. Most likely due to the large weight of the helios. It weighs almost twice as much ....
What lens body did you assemble it in? Nikkor 18-55?
It's the face. Works up to cilia. From the picture it looks like 77 lim Pts. Helios 44k-4. I shoot mine on it, for others I can put a Japanese one. With autofocus. I'm happy with them. Pentax k-1 is ff, 36 mgp
Thanks for explaining what Pentax K-1 is) Of course, lims are worth their money, this craft is for wealthy collector fans, rather. But this does not remove some of the distortion at 50 mm. Here is 77 mm. and more - this is more suitable for facial ones. However, the faces are different.
And for a kilodollar you can take Pentax fa 77 limited, it's worth the money
Please.
