Discussing the choice of a full-frame mirrorless system

This article is about full-frame mirrorless cameras that support autofocus and interchangeable lenses.

Who is the first - that and the slippers!

SONY:

  • October 16 2013 Two full-frame mirrorless cameras were presented at once: Sony a7 и Sony a7r. Sony calls them ILCE (Interchangeable Lens Camera E-mount, E-mount camera with interchangeable lenses). These two models are rightfully considered the first classic full-frame autofocus mirrorless cameras, EVI and interchangeable optics. Further to the line 'a7 x', 'a7R x' added ruler 'a7S x', 'a7с', 'a9 x' and 'a1 x'. Separately, it is worth highlighting Sony FX3, for video filming. Bayoneto Sony FE, which is used in Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras, was built on the basis of Sony E mount, which was used in cropped Sony mirrorless cameras. Lenses Sony E и Sony FE fully compatible between all cameras (depending on sensor size).

LEICA:

NIKON:

CANON:

  • 5 September 2018 camera appeared Canon EOS R and a little later, February 13 2019 of the year - Canon EOS RP. Cameras began to use a completely new bayonet mount Canon RF. In May 2022, this mount acquired cropped models: Canon EOS-R7, Canon EOS-R10, Canon EOS-R50. Lenses for cropped cameras are marked RF-S and are fully compatible with full-frame cameras (including sensor size).

PANASONIC:

SIGMA:

  • 11 2019 June camera development was announced Sigma fp, and on October 10, 2019, the camera was officially presented. Bayonet Leica l, same as cameras Leica SL и Panasonic Lumix S1that are part of a common alliance. Camera lines Sigma with cropped sensor and mount Leica l doesn't exist yet. Before release Sigma fp Sigma did not make digital full-frame cameras.

For 2013, Sony's first mirrorless full-frame system was young and attracted mostly enthusiasts. The cameras did not have a built-in image stabilizer, a large fleet of mirrorless optics, and the feasibility of switching to these mirrorless ones was a big question. But over time, mirrorless full-frame systems have become a serious competitor to their DSLR counterparts. In general, the age of SLR cameras is gone and, around 2020, the priority of manufacturers and photographers has finally shifted towards mirrorless systems.

The main reason for switching to full-frame mirrorless cameras

The main reason concerns the method of sighting and the structure of cameras. I have described it in great detail in the section JVI or EVI (an important article that answers the question 'DSLR or mirrorless').

Sensors

Sony itself manufactures sensors for its cameras. It is worth noting that at the same time, Sony creates a huge variety of camcorders/camcorders, including those based on full-frame sensors, such as Sony NEX-VG900 or Sony VENICE MPC-3610. The company has a very long experience in creating full-frame sensors. Behind Sony are developments in the creation of digital full-frame SLR cameras Sony DSLR and digital cameras with a translucent mirror Sony SLT, which, in turn, are based on the achievements of the legendary Konica Minolta.

System Nikon Z in its digital full-frame mirrorless cameras uses sensors manufactured by the same Sony company. For example, in this article (link) There is a detailed table with sensor types. This approach has its pros and cons. The main advantage is the use of advanced developments from Sony. The main disadvantage is the loss of unique characteristics and dependence on Sony.

Sensors in the system cameras Panasonic L - most likely from a third-party manufacturer, nairmer, you can hear the opinion that it could be Towerjazz. There are rumors that, for example, Panasonic Lumix S1R the sensor from Leica Q2 is used. Close connection Panasonic with Leica adds points to the system Panasonic L. Reliable sensor data Panasonic L little, however, is known that before the release of the cameras of the system Panasonic L the company had no experience in manufacturing its own full-frame sensors. First cameras S1, S1R, S1H, S5, BS1H on their sensors they did not have hybrid focus sensors, which the vast majority of cameras of other similar systems had. Only available in 2023 models S5II и S5II x sensors have acquired this very useful feature.

Sensors for system cameras Canon r made directly by Canon. It is worth noting that Canon also creates a huge variety of camcorders/camcorders, including those based on full-frame sensors, for example, for the Canon ME20F-SH. The company has vast experience in the field of creating sensors. It was Canon that became the first company to launch the first successful digital full frame in the face Canon EOS 1DS. For your system cameras Canon r uses DUAL PIXEL technology, which has significantly improved the quality of focusing since 2013 and is a characteristic feature of the system's sensors Canon r.

Leica stands separately. Which, in fact, is 9 September 2009 (09-09-09!) introduced the first full-frame 'mirrorless' camera, the Leica M9. But the Leica M9 was a rangefinder camera (no Live View or autofocus) and doesn't fit the role of a classic mirrorless camera. Its full-frame CCD sensor for the Leica M9 and all its modifications (Leica M9-P, Leica M Monochrom, Leica ME Typ 220, etc.) was designed and built by the legendary Kodak company, which had vast experience in creating sensors, in including full-frame (hello from Kodak Professional DCS PRO 14n). 17 September 2012 The Leica M9 was supplemented with the rangefinder camera Leica M (Typ 240) and its huge variety of modifications), the CMOS sensor of which was developed by CMOSIS and manufactured by STMicroelectronics. Most likely a sensor Leica SL (Type 601) also manufactured by STMicroelectronics. In any case, sensors for system cameras Leica l prone to creating myths about their uniqueness.

Lenses

Since 2013, Sony has built up a large number of lenses, both original and third-party. A very, very strong advantage of the system is the openness of the protocol - this means that the development of lenses by third-party manufacturers is greatly simplified. The possibility of getting a problem in the operation of a third-party lens with the release of a new camera is minimized. To release autofocus full-frame mirrorless lenses with E / FE mount have already joined Sigma, Tamron, tokina, felttrox, Samyang, Zeiss, yongnuo, TTArtisan, Meike, AstrHori etc.

In the case of bayonets Nikon Z и Canon r - the situation is deplorable. Companies prohibit the release of lenses by third-party manufacturers, or the release is limited to a very small variety of them.

In the case of the L mount (an alliance of Leica, Panasonic and Sigma), everything is much more interesting - Sigma produces a huge range of high-quality lenses for this mount.

It's important: In this article, I only consider a fleet of mirrorless lenses. I don't like the idea of using old DSLR lenses on a new mirrorless system. Nevertheless, for many “mirror” solutions, there are still no alternatives among “mirrorless” lenses. If we take into account the old fleet of full-frame lenses for SLR cameras, then the systems Nikon Z, Canon r и Sony E have the opportunity to use a huge fleet of various old optics, which work well through the appropriate original adapters. For Nikon Z the situation is slightly worse than for Canon r и Sony E due to compatibility issues. But Leica and Panasonic simply did not release their autofocus full-frame SLR lenses, and therefore there is no way to use their old developments.

Sigma L system (Leica L mount)

Sigma full-frame mirrorless cameras with L mount (Leica L):

Making a list of Sigma lenses for the Sigma L mount is quite difficult. Now Sigma produces lenses in three lines: SigmaART, Sigma CONTEMPORARY, Sigma Sport each of which indicates options for the Leica L / Panasonic L / Sigma L mount.

My experience

After the release of combo monsters Nikon Z9 и Canon EOS-R3 I consider full-frame mirrorless cameras to be absolutely accomplished, worthy of an evolutionary replacement for mirrorless solutions. The first combo monster was Olympus OM-D E-M1X and even then it was clear that there was no getting away from the “mirrorless”, even the Micro 4/3 system.

In 2021, I also completely switched to mirrorless systems (most commonly used Sony a7M3, Sony a7R2, Sony a3500, Sony NEX6, Canon RP)..

Сonclusion

Everything is simple. Mirrorless full-frame systems over the years have already managed to gain mass, acquire lenses, technologies and have become a worthy replacement for their DSLR counterparts.

Choosing a mirrorless full-frame system is a very complex one and depends on many factors and preferences of a particular photographer or amateur photographer.

In general terms, I recommend sticking with the system with which the user already has experience. For example, if someone has used a mirror system on a mount for a long time Canon EF/Canon EF-S, or a mirrorless system Canon EF-M, or Canon digital cameras without interchangeable lenses, then you should stop at Canon's full-frame mirrorless system - Canon r.

If such a system / camera is the first in the life of a photographer / amateur photographer, then I recommend looking at the top three “leaders”: Canon R, Sony E, Nikon Z. The cameras of these systems are very widespread and have a huge fan base, which will allow you to quickly explore the possibilities systems and solve current issues in a team of fellow thinkers. But the Leica L, Panasonic L and Sigma L systems are less common and will suit more experienced amateur photographers who know exactly about the nuances and subtleties of a particular system.

So far, no BZK has a normal color, therefore only d850 or Mark 4

It is written in the Canon R bzk matrix from Mark 4. If you don't like it - it's the lens. And now the new Sony 135 / 1.4G draws great colors ...

      • Alexander

        Sony 135 1.8

      • anonym

Well, it’s not written correctly. They also write on the fence, and what, do you believe everything? Erki has a sensor based on the Mark 4 sensor, but it is different. And the color of the cameras is different, the erka has more green and there are color spots like Nikon and Sony.
Now for erka there is a new firmware that solves the problem of banding, for brand 4 it is not there yet which again indirectly confirms that the sensors are slightly different.
Rp in color also differs from 6dmk2, and there is also a problem with green paint, spots and bad dd.

At the UPC Fuji colors for all occasions.
Do not like their crop type X-T3?
There is a line of GFX :-D

      • Onotole

You can’t look at the optics park for GFX without tears.

        • @ # $

Do you have money for the SF and the equipment park for it?)

          • Onotole

Yes, but I won't lie - right next to it.
On the other hand, I personally don’t need much: something like 170/2 (analogue of 135-ki), staffer (and not at 2.8 but at least 1,8), and zoom zoom (based on the fact that this mirrorless, in theory it should be almost cheaper than the analogue on FF)

            • Arkady Shapoval

From f / 1.8 to medium format autofocus lenses - units.

            • Eugene o

Well, why do you need 1.8 on the SF? What will you do with the depth of field in centimeter?

            • Onotole

Everything is the same as shooting on FF at 1,4. Grip +/- the same.
I don’t want to lose the possibility of using ultra-small depth of field when switching to SF

Well, yes, plastic skin due to non-disconnectable noise reduction in the ditch, a strange color with a pink-violet fill.
I liked the test where they compared Fuji BZ on Bayer and x trance. Bayer people liked the blind test a lot more.
Although this is still a Sony matrix.

About noise, you probably are not at all up to date, see the post above))).
Whatever one may say, Skinton just won’t get to Fuji even if you really want to. Although the bride was mare to whom, as the classic said))).
It’s all been discussed in detail in the Podakuni / Martynov blog, if you set the color without piggy fill, it’s difficult to look at these frames without pity.

          • anonym

We are talking about different noise suppressors.
There is a disconnectable one, and there is a non-disconnectable one, it is always enabled by tag in a rabbit if the editor supports it.
Rav Fuji was disassembled in detail on the network, read))).
The simplest test is to open the rav fuja with the type of disabled shumodav in the menu in the ravdiger or any other editor that does not execute the rav tag of the enable shumodav. Unlike adobe, c1, etc.
And - horror! The picture is noisy, like Nikon or Sony, as it should be because the matrix there is the same Sony)))).
It’s even more interesting, you change the ISO, which is shifted by 1.5 stops for the fuja, but nothing changes in the ravas)))), the changes go at the tag level, the same thing when bracketing the experiment.
But noobs are fooling around, marketing is brainwashing well, add a low level of understanding of the digital camera and voila, the hit of the season is ready))))

            • @ # $

              More brackets and emoticons!
Why do I need to engage in garbage and poking around in rav-diggers? What the hell? Appearance suits? Yes! How does the camera work suit? Yes! Do you like photos from the camera? After Nikonov and old boots YES YES YES!
Color and skinton? Super! Sofa haters with their dusty d5100 and unhealthy fantasies go to erotic. Using the standard all sorts of diggers nafig not needed.

              • anonym

                More capslocs! More !!!)))
noobs are naughty, marketing is well brainwashed, we add a low level of understanding of the digital camera and voila, the hit of the season is ready))))
Why improve or invent something? It’s easier to spend money on advertising and marketing and people will be happy to get a noisy picture. But why fudge, the smartphone gives out even brighter colors, even more noise reduction))

      • anonym

Pokemon, well, enough to carry an advertisement for paid bambassadors and other bastards.
Debunking the marketing fir that brains the fanboys.
        1. X trance from Fujah was developed solely to reduce moire. Moire was not particularly reduced, horizontal clarity / resolution fell compared to the buyer. Anyone with three classes of school is able to prove this by comparing the x-trance and buyer patterns. Also got problems developing Rav. Nikon and Sony simply removed the aa filter, gaining a resolution increase without problems and tambourines. As a result, Fuji began to put the buyer)))
        2. All fuji matrices bz, that x trans, that buyer are sony matrices, with their pros and cons. For x trance, filters with the x trance pattern are placed on top of the matrix, which are useless and more expensive than the buyer.
        3. Excellent high iso fuja bz due to the shift of the iso scale by 1.5 stops compared to kenikon and sony. And with the tag in the RAVE enable the noise reduction even if you turned it off in the settings. The simplest test is the manual mode, one and the same expo, lens, we shoot in equal terms with kenikon, fuj, dormouse and open it in the editor. Fuj does not shine at all in the noise and is darker, whatever.
        4. In terms of color rendering accuracy, the delta is 11% -13%, nothing collected and very far from the best cameras of other brands.
As a result, the usual system, with reduced horizontal clarity and high price.))

        • Pokemon

          So stop it.
A question for you - do you have a modern Fuji in stock now?
No - go with your fantasies with God. Let's end the conversation here.
          I repeat, I have an X100T, a friend of X100F. There is also S3Pro.
I do not want to engage in verbiage with theorists.

          • anonym

Pokemon, so you counted the x-trance pattern (count to 6) and understood why he has a worse horizontal line than Bayer? )
I have been working with Fuj Bz since the first firmware from the first lenses that Kozin does for Fuj. All of the above was discussed in the Fujivod club, and I posted the blog post on the blog, and the author of the ravdiger wrote it in detail. You have a strange logic, what, in principle, does the fact of having the LAST device to facts that are checked like two fingers on the asphalt by anyone interested have? )))
However, fanboys in the absence of arguments translate the topic into something else))).
Yes, and you are aware that today there is not the slightest sense to buy a camera and optics for $ 100₽0 if you can rent it when you need and write off the costs for expenses? Imagine, you can shoot with different cameras every week)

Fuji's film emulation is good as long as it gets into the subject. In addition, film presets can be pulled onto a picture from any camera, not limited to Fujifilm films. By and large, they are only interested in GFX. Top crop cameras have a disgusting X-trans sensor on board, which does not really give anything, but rather reduces it. Detailing, for example, in small textures, which does not exist. You can more or less pull it up with the help of just one software, Iridium, it seems. In the rest of the developers there is soap, in plasticine, which only looks good in resize up to 2 megapixels. However, this is not important for people who only look at the screen of a standard FHD monitor and do not enlarge photos. And so more problems are created than solved. From the point of view of the rabbis - well, they are about the same as those of Nikon, the corresponding class, no better. The non-disconnectable noise reduction recorded in raw was in the first top-end cameras exactly, as it is now - xs, the system is not interesting ... And with the good old Bayer sensor, they only have SF and amateur cameras, as far as I know.

        • Pokemon

          What soap? Which plasticine?
The sharpness in both the camera and the native developer can be adjusted.
As well as everything else is supposedly noisy. And it gives real results.
Even with budget fixes there are NO problems on this system. Sharpness maximum +1 division and all.
Shumodav does not work at low ISO. It turns on after ISO800, at 1600 somewhere.
I am using a maximum of 800 because the crop remains the crop. The exception is the crop with BSi - but they are still a little the same X-T3, X-T30 and Samsung type NX1, and there and there 1600 working.
For * noali sofa theorists. They sit on dusty cameras and post rumors / fakes and relay their erotic fantasies anywhere.
Get your ass up and go to work. Buy yourself normal cameras, try testing, if you don't like it, sell. But do not repost nonsense and outright fakes.
Want a good picture? Put Adequate, not budget glass.
On Fuji, the picture is excellent and I myself began to use Fuji more often than Nikon and Sigma in Foveone.

          • Pokemon

There is a choice of glasses in Fuji. Good ones are not cheap. But before you criticize, look at the prices of Nikon / Canon optics with the same characteristics.
            How much are Nikon AF-S 17-55mm f / 2.8G or Canon EF-S 17-55 mm f / 2.8 IS USM?
            Even in a second-hand dohrena - Nikon 17-55 / 2.8 is even more expensive in second-hand than 28-70 / 2.8.

            • Michael

Well, for the sake of justice, Fujiwi 16-55 is one and a half times more expensive

              • Pokemon

Fujifilm XF 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR - from 73 thousand rubles in Moscow.

                Nikon 17-55mm f / 2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX - from 74 thousand rubles in Moscow.

            • Pokemon

About soap, while I was looking for examples, I saw an article that lightrum was still finished to work with x-trans. Well, thank the eggs, how many are there, 7 years have passed since the release of x-pro and others ...
            https://blog.thomasfitzgeraldphotography.com/blog/2019/2/lightroom-introduces-enhance-details-finally-improves-fuji-x-trans-raw-conversion
Look, there are examples from the new lightroom, from the old and from the native developer. Check out plasticine there. The X-trans is purely a marketing sensor, unlike the super-ccd in the S3 and S5 Pro. There are more minuses than pluses, okay, at least in the last carcasses, the video is normally written, otherwise in the first there were problems just because of the non-standard sensor. Ynzhynery, what's up there ...
If you have not climbed beyond the iso800 mark - what do you know about noise reduction fuji in order to say something about it? For some reason, the deceased was remembered in vain for Samsung.
I had no complaints about fuji glasses, you probably confused me with someone. By the way, this can be attributed to the few advantages of the system, especially the fact that they immediately considered focal under the crop, in contrast to the Nikanons ...

            • Pokemon

Fuji has their free developer right on the site.
I'm not interested in Lightroom if there are native solutions.
Lightroom is a third-party program that is different from the native developer and which is not a fact that generally should work correctly.
So what? Is Fuji to blame for the fact that Lightroom is crooked?
Not all developers understand Nikonovsky ADL and for RAVs from the same Foveon there is no alternative to the standard free Sigma Photo pro.

            • Pokemon

              About ISO.
Yes, he climbed 1600 a couple of times. With noise reduction twisted to minus.
Crop remains crop, a miracle did not take place. I do not know a single crop of the camera, which can give birth to something adequate for 1600 with the noise canceled disabled.
Samsung and the last Fuji on the 26MP BSi matrix were mentioned due to the fact that 1600 seems to be considered workers there.
On the D7100 and D7200 with the ISO 1600 noise suppressor turned off in unpleasant noises.

              • Sergei

Ahhhah, and they also have a developer who works with the connected camera on a leash and drains its battery. Of course, they are not interested in genius. Well, it's okay, there is and is, the native converter also has worse detailing than Irididient (as it is called) and here is the newly made lightrum. Or maybe I don't want either one or the other, my native program, for example, doesn't suit me either - that's all. Either soap or nothing. And the Bayer sensor appears to everyone without any problems. Nikon's ADL was never particularly interested, and foveon is for those who do not want like everything, how it turns out and fuji ...

Fuji's problem with ISO was as follows. When the cameras were presented, there were all sorts of loud comparisons, such as Fuji shoots like an FF camera, high isos, blah blah blah ... But in practice, it turned out that after a certain value of iso, when the noises become shameful, it simply turned on the noise reduction and recorded it all in RAW exposing their cameras seem to be better than they really are, and removing from users the ability to deal with noise with their own methods.
This was the case on the first teshkas and on the second, it seems like I don’t know now, as I already wrote, the system is not particularly interesting ...

              • Pokemon

Fuji can be charged via USB like a phone. I don’t know what is dying there.
Batteries are cheap, literally by weight. Moreover, there are Chinese non-originals as well, and some from Ricoh are suitable.
Non-disconnected noise reduction or rather forcedly switched on when a certain threshold is reached, ISO is now in many cameras. Emnip, in some Nikon and Sony, for example.
I read the instructions for D4 and there honestly was given a hint of it.
Shumodav at high ISO is really needed, just his work is not always correct.
As for Fuji, I had no illusions. A crop will always be a crop. Perhaps the development of BSi will help him.

              • Sergei

Apparently not in all modes it is charging.
Let the batteries be. But the Chinese should not be taken with the expectation of a long service life.
About ISO was the fact of manipulation - they did it. They presented x-trance as a miracle Yudo, but it turned out to be no better than everything else, sometimes worse. They have only stained their reputation ...

            • Artem

interesting . And which cameras are now working without noise in the rabbi? and some even start with ISO 100))

              • Cat

It is checked in a couple of minutes.
They opened it as a ravdiger, opened it in adobe, there is no difference - there is no hidden noise reduction.
As if using fuj, kenon nikon did not seem to be noticed. Sony uses a filter, it affects the removal of hot pixels and alas for astrophotography, but this is not noise.
Therefore, plastic skin is the calling card of food today, with a completely killed noise-suppressed structure.

              • Pokemon

How many sofa theorists where to go ...
Only now most of these theorists are modest. And they never admit to what they themselves take off. And I’ll be ashamed to admit it myself. Well, or as an option they lie godlessly about d850 or 1dx or SF when it is impossible to check.

              • Cat

Why lie? Do not judge all by yourself.
Well, you ended up in a useless x-trance, well, did you find out that you have a non-disconnectable noise reduction in your carcass, why throw yourself at everyone and take offense at all? Everyday business.

              • anonym

Pokemonchik, what's the point of your moaning? Did the test and make sure that your fuj is noisy? And so just not visible?
Do you have problems taking the d850 at the box office for a day or two? Or are you just flooding?

              • anonym

Fuji crop price is more expensive and much more than canon 5d, 5dii, 5diii, 6d.
In color and picture, these canons are noticeably better and full frame and not crop.
And no drawn ISO, no trance with reduced clarity, no nkotklyuchayemy noise reduction.

              • Pokemon

Gentlemen (or this one here writes with two nicknames?)), buying Fuji is an old conscious choice. Once again, in Russian - crops on ISO 1600 and above, without noise reduction, all make noise. Well what to do. Only you flood here and spread false information. I share my experience as the owner of several cameras in pt Fuji. Fuji suits me all. I don’t do photoananism and pixel hunting, I just shoot for my own pleasure. If the camera was G, I would write about it as it is. I'm not one of those who shoot with cameras that I don't like. Thing disappointed? Selling without regrets. The X100T did not disappoint, the S3pro is a little yes.
And still d850 I do not need in any form. Especially from hire. Like a thing? Just buy and everything if there is a need. I do not need the D850. Here I hope to take D3X to play this year. I will compare with the D750, which is also there. I will compare them and will sell some later. This is experience and curiosity.

              • Pokemon

Just well, to each his own. Someone tryndet about skinton / noise / pixel hunting / used to be better / d850 is better than all111 / 5D_classic is better than all111.
                This is boring and depressing.

              • anonym

Was it better about the d850 before?
Pokemon, you are raving! Check the current date on the calendar.
Or how are you tyryndish about getting drunk / it used to be better / - it's definitely boring and dull.
Pixelhunting, photoananism, except you, no one mentioned - you have problems, are you talking about that? It happens. Get treatment sick.
Well and yes, what does color and skinton have to do with photography! Especially in Pokemon.

              • anonym

Since we are talking about masturbation, then at least write competently. This term is named after Onan, the second son of Judas, who was engaged in intercourse. If you are illiterate, then your technical knowledge is also superficial and shallow.

  • anonym

Which Sony did it all start with?
Nothing that Leica started producing mirrorless cameras long before Sony.

    • anonym

Read carefully, everything is written the same, because your rangefinder is not really needed for real photographers

      • anonym

We are talking about mirrorless cameras, what difference does it rangefinder or not?

        • Arkady Shapoval

In order not to confuse you, I updated the description of this article.
“This is an ode to full-frame mirrorless cameras with autofocus support.” Therefore rangefinders from Leica will not be appropriate here. But at the same time, I pointed out that it was Leica in 2009 that showed the world the first such device. This information is in the section on sensors

        • anonym

Yes, calm down, about the first rangefinders, it is also written right there and about the fact that they are both the first and legendary. They have nothing to do with real bozks at all, and in no way did they really stimulate the market to switch to bozk. It was then, just against the background of the sunken watering can, that had already pulled itself up and slid. But probably Arkady should write that this is not a topic about rangefinders

          • Arkady Shapoval

            Already wrote, thanks

    • Arkady Shapoval

I disagree. Leica launched the rangefinder in 2009 and then updated it with a million different options. I indicated this information in detail in this note with the exact dates of announcements. But the rangefinder does not have autofocus, and therefore does not fit the mirrorless cameras from this note. In addition, the Leica rangefinder is a niche solution, and it was Sony in 2013 that full-frame UPCs in their classical sense were brought to the masses.

      • Classic

        To blame.
I missed about Lake in the note.

        • Arkady Shapoval

Everything is OK. I updated the title text to make everything clear and precise.

  • Igor

I have several friends using Sony FE, and none of them have branded optics other than whale 24-85. The rest use either the Chinese manual deshman, or Helios 44-2, or the adapter for Canon optics from the richest. If it was available as much as needed, without branded optics (even if it was a mirror from Sony via an adapter), buying it makes no sense. (IMHO)

The whole secret of its popularity is that a person saw it from someone, in life or on YouTube, bought it, and then only remembered the optics that it cannot afford.

I only once had a problem with the map - when I hadn't formatted it for a long time ... It looked like this: there was a place on the map, but the pictures didn't go there. Fortunately, there was a spare card ... In this way, I don't see the point in 2 slots ...

One slot is not ok, it has never been.
Erka is an unsuccessful camera, but it is for lovers.
Sony in fact was a pioneer, because two generations of cameras were raw.
But the a7mk3 is a very successful camera and the sales leader.
Both kenon and nikon repeat Sonya’s way late, the first two generations they will also have a bunch of problems.
Mirrors are already leaving, the question is not marketing, but that it is simply impossible to implement new features on the mirror, and with 30MP problems, the back of the back is visible in all its glory.

    • Novel

Well, it’s just objective while the platform is not mature enough to see the benefits and it makes sense to switch if there is an optics park.

Claims about color will be attributed to preferences-deformations-diseases and discarded.
Matrices from existing fotiks in fact - so why change 5D4-6D2 - in the negative.
EVI is not very convenient and quickly dies out the battery - in minus.
The optics park is small, good lenses are good, but the roads are minus.
A short working distance makes it possible to make interesting lenses like 28-70 / 2 or ultra-compact 70-200 - plus.
Part of the mechanics is leaving - in plus, but the mechanical shutter remains - in minus.

In general, the trend is understandable, but there is no sense in a replacement. But as the first camera - maybe.

No matter how many of these UPCs are used at various exhibitions and presentations, I still work only on the mirror. Moreover, combos from both Canon and Nikon quite suit me. Probably, something out of the ordinary should happen to stimulate me to buy a BZK. In the meantime, watching the intricacies of the marketing struggle is very entertaining. Even fun.

  • Sergei

Ken Rockwell wrote like that, with his usual irrevocability: “Now with Nikon making mirrorless cameras that handle like real cameras, feel good in our hands, work like they're supposed to and offer Nikon's superior color rendition, Fuji can return to focusing on their core film and paper businesses and Sony can get back to innovating again in TVs and stereos. It might be time to sell your Sonys on eBay while they still get top dollar ”
    😄

    • Sergei

This is after the release of Z7 and Z6

    • anonym

Ken Rockwell is Nikon's fanboy. This statement only confirms this. Nikon has had ten years of color problems, but he doesn't see it. Any whistle-blower from Nikon is always very good, and he only takes pictures of his well-fed children with pink prickly cheeks, and at the same time increases the clarity in all the pictures and does not lay out the ravines. I used to believe him by inexperience, now he is only a talking head. Who has seen at least one interview with him? Kicky naive

      • anonym

He and fanboy kenon. There’s simply no bad technique for him

        • Novel

Ken is adamant, yes, and I like the “no bad technique” approach. If you already have something, then you ask the question “what can I do with it and what I cannot”. Modern technology is wonderful. It is many times superior in its characteristics to what the masterpieces were made with decades ago. And when you see the next sadly nauseous: “the BZK does not have a normal color” you want to shoot something heavy in your head. Some things need to be viewed positively and optimistically. And not out of the old soviet habit of trying to look for flaws in everything.

          • Onotole

I will say even more - despite the fact that modern technology is superior, even that old 10-20 (+/-) year old technology - and that almost all is already absolutely beautiful, with very rare exceptions.

When there is no such pi @ dec with numbers like 450-700 from the boot and these series from the nikosha - the years passed nifiga did not change. In the downturn of the mirror market, the tops were head over heels. Standing in place as in the beginning of 10x will be like death for them.

      • King of the Night

Lord, what other color problems does Nikon have? Yes, each camera manufacturer has its own slightly different interpretation of colors, but no one has long had frank crap. Moreover, in the RAW developer you can wind up any colors you want.

  • NoName

Bzk is of course good and sooner or later they will squeeze out the mirror, but most of the acquaintances themselves take off some mirrors even on crop, and in principle everyone is happy. UPCs are developing by leaps and bounds and all major manufacturers of photographic equipment will have to follow the trend, otherwise they will remain on the sidelines.

    • Victor

Normal FASHION, gentlemen ... everything will pass ... it will pass and this ...

  • Sergei

In the current situation, I would not take any FF BZK. Whichever one you look at - all are somehow inferior, like more or less good cameras, especially on paper, but you definitely need to screw up a few "positions". It would seem that in 2019 everything has already been invented and the choice of a camera should consist only in fitting the case and determining the required number of megapixels. But no, the problem of choice seems to be only getting worse. I think that in 5 years it will be clearer, and in 10 years it is quite clear whether it is worth taking something from the BZK. In the meantime - old, good, honest ZK.

Although, if you choose right now, then, perhaps, Panasonic S1, for my taste. Good color, ergonomics and battery, the absence of any obvious grotesque flaws, there are only few glasses ... yet ...

Mirror and mirrorless ideologies have their pros and cons, so I think that in our age, mirrors will not die out. Plus, maybe Pentax and Olympus will crawl out of the bench on the FF UPC market.

      Sony a7 iii.
Reasonable price, good color, full stuffing, a huge selection of optics.
      Hit sales today.

      What are you missing there?

      • Sergei

The fact that this is a sales leader (if so, in general) does not mean anything concrete. This can be interpreted in different ways.
Their optics are very expensive, good, yes. I remember watching a review of some of their glass and I thought it was good that at least someone thought of adding more petals to the diaphragm. Maybe this will become a new good form.
As if on paper, the camera is good, but ergonomics have a problem. The abundance of negative reviews in this regard is hinting at the network. It is important for me that as few things as possible annoy during the shooting process, and Sony is rich in this. You can live with it, but you don’t feel like it, especially for so much money.

      • Artem

Many would argue about "good color" in my opinion, more or less the color of the Sony was in the a900, the rest is only in FS, and in deep processing.

  • anonym

Now they will try to kill me, but I had a Sony A72 lying around, not that I didn't shoot it or there was a problem with the color, but how to work on it? A very inconvenient camera, too small, the electronic viewfinder is very inconvenient to use. I used to complain about my Canon 5D3, but after that Sony stopped complaining, by the way, Sony also has a lot of problems with banding, in a word, for several months it just lay at my house, never used, as well as another trinket Leica M240 ... But if you screw the lenses from this trinket (it's good only to show off at exhibitions in front of others, they say I shoot on Leica! For this they buy or rent it, especially in China, from which Leica has exactly half of its income, that is, 200 million dollars in year !!!) to Sony, it turns out a wonderful set. If I bought a Sony, then only for this, that is, to put on old lenses, and for this it is great! Here I work on Nikon D3s and every time I test a possible replacement (I have never filmed a video and will not seem to be filming it) I stay with it sleepy and sound. I think it's better to spend money on some interesting new lenses than on another camera. The new Panasonic S1 is probably the most advanced UPC with full formats inside, literally in every respect ...

Nikon never hid that their sensors are made by Sony, but there is a nuance, Sony makes sensors not of its own, but on demand, this sensor is not similar to Sony's own sensors, and a simple proof of this is the different parameters and functions of cameras. Sonya 7 III has 693 points from Nikon z6 273. that there is only one sensor? and the fayzovye points are generally on the matrix, and this is only one of many proofs that the matrices are different. Sony makes matrices, but to order, according to drawings, NIKON's specifications.

And about the general UPC, so far this is a semi-pro segment. Damp

    • anonym

Nikon has not ordered his matrices from Sony for a long time. The exception was d850.
Sony offers options for its matrices to all comers, usually with restrictions.
This is one of the reasons why Nikon did not receive bsi for a long time.
How to identify sensor development Nikon or Sony? By marking. If done for someone by his performance characteristics, then his name is put.
If the sensor just has sony and a standard number, then alas, it's just sony.

  • anonym

climbed there due to lack of competition.
    ==========
Well, not really. Sony fiercely competed precisely with ff mirrors nikon and kenon, in price and functionality.
And bit off a good piece of the market. And I began to press them first of all on the pros market, look at the price of lenses and Sony cameras, how many people left the kenikon DSLRs on Sony Sony.
And just Kenon and Nikon saw that the DSLRs were leaving, rushed after Sonya, in fact turning off the achievements of the new fF DSLRs and burying the SLR crop.

    • anonym

Well, they have lenses just at a horse price. On camera prices are affordable. I think in the next couple of years there will be parity between this three. Kenon and Nikon immediately bit off 30% of the Sony market, only by releasing the first cameras. Just before there was one sleepyhead. But smartphones choke them all

      • anonym

The price of the system is always evaluated.
How many lenses you need, the availability of lenses from other brands, etc.
For all factors, sony is very good.
She usually has a new lens.
Compare them with the lenses of the new development of Nikon and Kenon, there the price tags are also inhumane)).
Where did you get that bz nikon and kenon bit off something from sony?
So far, Nikon and Kenon are engaged in cannibalism and eat segments of their DSLRs, which is reflected in the latest sales reports.
And so the new 85mm kenon was urgently doped for RF, the new 135/2 vr for the zk was postponed because they waved a hand at the zk segment. And there will be no new 6dmk3 and d620, etc.
INSTEAD of them will be bz of the same brands.

        • anonym

I think that there will still be 6 dm3 and Nikon d620.

Very superficial, but overall will do. There is only parsing JVI or EVI what is it worth.

    • anonym

An old article, a lot of errors and inaccuracies, something correctly indicated.
      1. DSLRs have an unsolvable problem of back-front focus with phase af. The better the lens and the higher the pixel matrix, the more noticeable the problem.
      2. DSLRs have lubrication problems due to cotton mirrors.
      3. DSLRs are relatively less reliable due to more mechanics
      4. DSLRs are more expensive to manufacture
      5. It is difficult to realize focus picking, focusing on the eyes, hybrid AF, camera stub, etc. on the mirrors.
      6. In what you see is what is and not how it will be removed.

      • Onotole

Only the last three points are certainly true.
At the same time, regarding the price of the UPC, but not in production (who is interested in this at all?), But in the store on the counter - you need to look in two more which is more expensive.

    • anonym

      Mirrorless
      1. Batteries work exactly as much as on a live view.
      2. In principle, there is no back-focus front (and there is no exact adjustment of it as unnecessary, which is what semi-pro and DSLRs have)
      3. Chamber stub up to 5 (!) Stops. Any lens becomes stable! Ability to work together ibis and stub lenses.
      4. A short segment allows you to easily put a lot of old lenses of different systems.
      5. Excellent hybrid AF with precise eye focus if needed
      6. Great 4k video
      7. No lubrication problems due to cotton mirrors). There were problems in the tent of shock, completely resolved.
      8. Evie shows what will be filmed as a result - expo, etc. more convenient for many.
      9. Evie has a lag for whom it is important.
      10. In fact, they can use the gluing of frames from the buffer with exposure bracketing and other developments of smartphone cameras.

As a result, DSLRs are needed only where oVs and lack of lag are super important.
Those. in 90% of cases mirrorless is simply more convenient as a tool if the result is important.

      • Onotole

Again, only points 1, 4, and the last 7-10 are true.

Regarding the back-front, it is true only with respect to good lenses that are close to ideal. On imperfect ones, the very concept of precise focusing does not make sense. There are many imperfect lenses, more than it might seem.

The chamber stub is not the prerogative of the UPC. As well as quiet shooting, stitching frames from the buffer, etc. frills.
From paragraph 5, it is necessary to replace the word excellent with good. An excellent trick does not fail periodically as soon as conditions become more complicated.

Great 4k video is when the video is recorded from the entire area of the matrix (hello kenon r!), Yes in 10 bits (hello sony a73!), Yes in 50/60 frames (hello nikon z6 / z7).

    • Dmitriy

One nuance, the article is "old", five years ago ...

      • anonym

Clearly, everything has changed in the market. Nikon and Kenon having lost 30% of the full-frame market, they will go after Sony for the sake of hoping to catch the last step of the car. so far it’s not very good.

    • Sergei

As soon as the first FF BZK came out, a song began about the end of the DSLRs, like there was no chance, etc., etc. .. Yes, only today things are there. Much fixed, modified, but still damp.

Dimensions and weight. If we are talking about the FF UPC, then the normal from the point of view of the balance of the UPC is comparable to the ZK. Because a small, light body and a large, heavy lens are like that. Here, one might say, parity.

JVI vs EVI. For me, the parity between them, EVI with a good response and a resolution of over 2mpix is already more than suitable. There is already taste and the question of habit / task. OVI, for example, because of frosted glass, does not allow one to evaluate the nature of blurring of the background and the range of apparent focusing higher, it can be smeared with RF. EVI of course in any case will have a lag, because this is eat / process / output image. Modern EVIs are fast enough for most tasks, except perhaps those where you need to catch some millisecond moments and this is an open question and not as simple as it seems. EVI is more convenient for manual optics, including macro ones. You can see the real exposure in real time or simulate JVI + all sorts of chips such as displaying a histogram, overexposure / overexposure, horizons.

Autofocus. Back-front focus is a filthy phenomenon, but it seems to be an element of luck - someone has someone else. This is the cost of the focusing principle, many elements must be matched to each other here and the distance from the mount to the sensor, from the mount to focus sensors, lens alignment and software adjustments. Plus, it seems to me that even the banal delivery of cameras to the store on different roads of different quality plays a role here, for example, which can knock the fine tuning of mechanics from the factory.
On the BZK, this should not have happened, however, I remember looking at the review on the Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera with phase sensors on the matrix. And as if there is a menu that allows you to make corrections for each of the sensors. I think the menu is not just washed down there. I assume that the phase focus drift is to some extent also characteristic of the BZK. Maybe this is misleading the brains of hybrid AF cameras. On the net, misses by the UPC are generally well-known. On the other hand, any AF can be put in an awkward position if desired, and you need to be able to use what is, knowing its features.
Focusing in low light conditions is worse. Well, here you must understand that with the same degree of development of phase technology, the ZK sensors will always be more than the sensors on the BZK matrix, I think, even with a numerical superiority.

Reliability. Theoretically, the BZK is more reliable. But in practice it seems that the UPC is more tender in this regard. DSLRs have been produced for a long time and all technologies are well-developed in principle (haha, except for autofocus with a back-front, it would seem).

Autonomy. Well, this is pretty clear, although it depends on the style of shooting. If the photographer composes the frame for a long time, walks, takes aim and then takes several single shots - the UPC is very drained in terms of autonomy, because when sighting in the OVI, the consumption of the ZK is practically zero. But if the photographer is pouring queues on some reportage or elsewhere, then the difference is not so great.
I honestly don’t understand, don’t understand why it’s impossible to make a battery for the BZK with a capacity of 4-5 thousand milliampere-hours. Panasonic in S1 charged a battery of 3000 max, which is already a mature step, but the question is whether this will compensate for the greater gluttony of the camera relative to colleagues in the workshop.

Stabilizer on the matrix. Theoretically, a matrix on an electromagnetic suspension should be lightweight, which complicates the removal of heat from it. Once Nikon disassembled one SLR and there the matrix lay on a rather thick copper substrate. That is, other things being equal, a matrix with heat removal is better in noise than a matrix without it. But most of the FF BZK now have matrix stabilization, and the Canon cameras deprived of it somehow do not shine with low noise. Also, theoretically, the matrix dangling on flexible contacts, I think, is more susceptible to mechanical damage in the event of shock, but this does not strike the eye with Olympus cameras - there are problems with the matrix, but not often. Maybe I just wasn't looking for it.

So at the moment I still can't answer unequivocally for myself what is worth taking, that's why I don't take ...

Nikon in his training manual for d800 explicitly indicated that it is recommended to shoot in live view in order to avoid the problem of lubrication due to the clap of the mirror and the back front.
Both nikon and kenon, when accepting a camera or lens for alignment, do the check in live view - mirrorless mode.
If you don’t need 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 in ff, if you shoot while holding up to 8 electric welding with a flu of 20m wide, then you are right, the back front is not noticeable there because it overlaps, but this does not mean that it is not)))

        • Sergei

What do you care how many percent of the market has lost DSLRs? And then, when something new appears on the market, people are interested in it. Many other effects are affected. For example, the fact that over the years DSLRs became more accessible and every 3-4th resident of a large city there had a SLR camera at that time. Not all people have the need / ability to update the technique for every squeak of fashion. And then they only won back 10% in 30 years? somehow not enough ... If UPC as a whole and Sonya in particular (apparently you are an ardent fan of Sonya) were so wonderful, no one would even consider buying a DSLR ... Well, on the topic of demand generation - then marketing pours in, and “loves all our people ... ”.

The fact that manufacturers have released raw products is a classic. Sony A7 was the first one to be flawless, hmm ...

Phase autofocus, if only phase autofocus, it is less accurate than contrast, and hybrid, respectively. Back-front focus is a setup failure. To achieve its absence, in principle, is realistic, the problem is that there are official services, frankly speaking, not in all cities. I personally encountered the problem of back-front focus, but I had a second-hand and shock camera, also influencing factors. The camera was a Nikon D7000. When I sold 50 1.4G to a person with a D750, this effect was not observed. In the D7000, a primitive AF adjustment is present, yes, it does not work at zooms, it squeaks on fixes, but in the new D500 D850 cameras a new extended AF adjustment is announced, however, I don't know what it is and probably won't recognize it anymore.

The scrap count is the scrap count. The more complex the device, the more chances of messing up. He who is not mistaken does nothing. Shouldn't Sonya know about this ...

Do you really not understand that it is IMPOSSIBLE to adjust the carcass under the lens at ALL distances and in the case of zoom - at all focal lengths? )))
Look at how this is done in the service, in the case of Nikon it is adjusted to ONE point and ONE distance, they will show you on the fingers in the service))). BEC FRONT in the DSLR is not a failure, and the norm is due to the fact that the focus and sensor planes do not coincide.
Therefore, the same sigma and like a tampon in their docking stations began to make crutches in the form of additional corrections for different distances.
Therefore, before you grind illiterate nonsense, talk to the Nikon service (do you trust him?) How to adjust the Nikon DSLRs.

Sergey, you absolutely did not understand the meaning of my answers.
            Explain popularly.
Sony A7 started in 2013 (!) As a pioneer in its segment.
For 5 years, one company removed almost all the jambs and childhood illnesses over the course of just 3 generations.
You claimed that they were raw, while Nikon (for example) was not able to lick DSLR technology in 10 years (D700 was presented back in 2008)

From which a simple conclusion follows, both bz and zk have their own glitches, bugs and problems.
And from this point of view, SLRs are no better than mirrorless ones, despite the fact that the mirror technology itself has been used by Nikon since 1959 (!!!), and FF zk has been making the Nikon figure for 11 years.
The total statement that the BZ is raw in comparison with the DSLRs is the baseless lies of the DSL fanboy.

            • Sergei

What don't you buy yourself an A7SH, since it is so beautiful? Or don't you rent it ...
And how people took pictures and filmed the video until 2013, it’s incomprehensible ... Probably not at all ... And as if Sony did not produce DSLRs in order to take into account the experience in the production of UPC.
When the focus plane does not coincide with the sensor plane, this is not the norm. If the camera is operational and configured correctly, people do not have problems. You are probably writing about minor focus errors, which are the norm due to the fact that the principle of focusing only on phase sensors is not filigree accurate. It is as if no one denies. Another phase autofocus drifts a little from changing the color temperature of the lighting. But in general, everything is not so sad as it is painted.

The conclusion is the following, the UPC is no better and no worse than the ZK, if it is in the global classification. As already mentioned here, there is no particular reason to change the ZK to the BZK.

You see what’s the matter. Sony they are profit-oriented, they are not interested in making a good product, they are trying to make it only so that they are left behind with presentations. Sony’s cameras are wonderful on paper, but they won’t write to you about vignetting the edges, about the rolling shutter, about the tight menu, etc. It says that the rate of fire is such and such, an asterisk, small text: color depth at Burst shooting reduced to 12bit. Sony began to sew up the lens aberration correction in RAW, thereby making it possible to rivet cheaper glasses and adjusting them to programmatically pass them off as more advanced ones and selling them at a high price. Well, as if the meaning of RAW is lost, this is not raw data, but dug up. They won’t write you in the specification about the fact that they have a bayonet diameter, but you won’t be able to finish it with firmware.

        • Onotole

———— he is ALWAYS. to see use a 36MP or higher sensor and open the lens at 1.4 or 1.2. and corrections are needed both for different focal (zooms) and for different distances. it is basically impossible to solve the issue on DSLRs.

Quite an illiterate statement - how many lenses do you know to have a 36MP sensor at 1.2 or 1.4?

And if the problem takes place to be only at 1.2 and 1.4 and 36 MP, then can this even be considered a problem when you have only 24 MP?
Or when at 1.2 / 1.4 you don’t get into the 3-5 mm depth of field, not because of the semi-mythical back-front, but because of the slightest displacement of the subject and / or camera?

          • anonym

Do you sincerely write absolute nonsense or troll?
For a very beginner, for you! Donatello)))
There is always a back front, absolutely always DSLRs with phase af.
Depending on the alignment, resolution of the lens and matrix, the magnitude of the flu is either masked, or alas, noticeable.
Therefore, at 12mp with soapy glasses, it was hardly noticeable.
As soon as the photographer begins to be interested in something better than the dark shit, the regular whale plugs will be surprised to learn about the need to adjust af or alignment in the service.
Pros are forced to adjust everything, but this time and money.
If you have crop, one dark soapy zoom, you shoot from 4 and flu about 5m or more, then you have nothing to worry about.
But the pros take lenses priced at $ 1500- $ 3500 at the box office for each session, depending on the need, and running to adjust is a huge crap. Because of what the people, the pros, first of all, and leave en masse from the DSLRs (who does not care about the lag in bz)

            • Onotole

So all the same, 12 MP with soapy shit or 36 MP with autofocus (!) Optics allowing all 36 to be open at 1,2 and 1,4?
Have you already decided where to look for this semi-mythical back-front? After all, he seems to be always there, but he is either disguised or sometimes irreplaceable. And it even appears only on rolling lenses (do you well know what rental is, regardless of what? It is good if at least half of the lenses are in place in the lenses))) It's like complaining about a collapsed collapse at a rental car, and say that all due to a design flaw of a particular model)

              • Novel

Look, they’re shooting on the new 85 / 1.2L on the BZK and it’s difficult to achieve sharpness in two eyes in a 3/4 portrait. This is subject to 100% getting into focus, and at the right point (the camera can decide that we are interested in the hair or nose, and not the eye). And this is not a focus error, it is focusing on the wrong point.

As for the pros, who take lenses for each session ... But somehow I didn't notice that. Magazine photographers usually have two zooms, something like 24-70 and 70-200, and work with them, covering up to 8 in the studio. Birds-animals are also filmed for something of their own - large and white. Either something specific is rented, such as a tilt-shift, or a reserve - to replace the broken-forgotten-stolen, or to try when there is no money.

“We've fixed a lot, improved it, but it's still damp. "
        ===============
What exactly is raw in the Sony A7 III?

        • Sergei

I answered you about the A7III below, if that ...

      • Valentine

About focusing and EVI a bit: EVI, in addition to a huge number of auxiliary parameters, in real time allows you to instantly increase the focus area (for example, 10 times at once, so you can easily see if you're focusing or accurate) or turn on picking, be checked and also quickly disconnect it all.
About large batteries: Olympus in the E-M1 mark II increased capacity. But is it necessary to make the battery 2 times larger, since the size and weight of the battery grow (with batteries and cameras, too). Sometimes carrying a 2nd battery is easier than having one double size in a larger and heavier chamber. But also for this reason, the blocks are not always convenient.

      • Onotole

Normal weighted analysis. I'll add about autofocus - it's hardly a matter of transporting the camera: I had a case - I knocked over the camera from a low tripod (somewhere 0,7-0,8 m) but directly with the lens onto the tiled floor. Accordingly, the entire impulse fell on the bayonet. The filter is shattered and its frame is jammed. The lens (85 / 1.4) has a slight deformation in the front edge area. Then for another week I photographed only brick walls - I was afraid that something was shaken off, or the bayonet was dented, or the matrix was displaced, or the AF sensors were out of alignment. But no, in spite of the fanatical adherents of the UPC, neither the front-back focus, nor the skew of the plane of the matrix and the bayonet, did not happen and did not appear with this with any other of the moss lenses. I am sure that prof. the carcass would have passed such a test and in a much more stringent mode.
So what about the unreliability of the Central Store - these are grandma's fairy tales.

        • anonym

Reliability or insecurity are relative concepts. I recommend reading the textbooks on what depends.
The DSLR has about twice as many assembly units, requires precise alignment of the blocks, and has additional mechanical blocks. I hope your fanaticism will not be enough to refute the obvious facts?
The funny thing is that the SLR already has a crutch in the form of a mirrorless liveview and the manufacturer Nikon and Kenon recommends shooting in it for the best quality.

          • Onotole

What textbooks do you recommend reading (not banter)?
And show where Nikon recommends a mode to get the best quality Live View?

            • anonym

              Reliability of technical systems
              Fundamentals of Reliability Theory
              Calculation of reliability indicators, etc.
On the fingers, any complication impairs reliability. Mechanics impair reliability.

              • Onotole

Oh, this is ... a general theory, all of this was chewed over a dozen years ago. The good old theorver ruled everything there. Everything is simple there - it may or may not break, as luck would have it. There is some kind of conditional probability that can be calculated, multiplied and added, nothing more.

I thought about the reliability of specific cameras, there is something to read. Well, such as the study of failures of the mechanism for raising the mirror and the shutter, the mean time between failures, etc. And the same study about the BZK.

And so it’s just akin to reasoning that if only a stick is left at the mop, then it will break 2 times less, i.e. Nothing.

              • anonym

My friend Donatello, you, as usual, post nonsense.
The meaning of the posts above is simple, but for you I will sign it even easier.
If a mechanics block with the need for adjustment is added to device X, then the new device Y will always have worse reliability, will be more expensive to manufacture and have a longer production cycle.
Therefore, a priori a DSLR is more expensive to manufacture, longer assembled and less reliable. )))

              • Onotole

Why do you constantly appeal to theoretical studies in the field of reliability and cost, while the conversation is about very specific specimens.
The average user, who is faced with the choice of carcass to spit who is cheaper and faster in production and how many parts X and Y have.
But the prices of carcasses in stores show that, for example, the same EOS RP? which is the mirrorless version of the 6D2 - it costs even more. What do you say to that, Anonymous?
Fewer (hypothetically-theoretically) problems due to fewer details is an argument. Only the vast majority (including me with three mirrored carcasses) had no problems anyway. Less than zero problems - in real life this may interest only completely stoned fanboys, do not take it personally;)

We look at d810 - problems with the operation of vr at the lenses, a crude implementation of the electronic shutter mode in an attempt to copy mirrorless technology)))
We look at 5dmark4 and the banding problem, it can be solved in the new firmware.
And after that, are you still talking about raw mirrorless? )))

        • Onotole

If there are frankly raw DSLRs, this does not mean that from this mirrorless cameras are not immediately raw. This is somewhat reminiscent of “Oh, but, but you have blacks lynched! ..”))
About D3 or D4, for example, what bad can you say? Is there something from the BZK segment to replace it with?

          • Dmitriy

I agree. Any technique has its advantages and disadvantages. Any new product is "finished" with time. Anyone who works in an official service knows that service bulletins are published under the heading “confidential”. And specialists do not advise buying a new model in the first days of sale, but advise to wait six months until the "jambs" come out.

Here you go wrong with your (at best) A7Sh. Not too lazy to look about the schools of competitors. Just what ancient cameras did you decide to poke your nose with? Can the first generation A7 then recall which came out later on the D600 and D800 and there was pretty much none other than everything else?
Sonya's bayonet is too narrow and when stabilized, the edges of the matrix are overlapped by the bayonet, which causes vignetting. The very arrangement of bodies and lenses leaves little room for fingers between the lens and the grip. Protection from dust, moisture, cold seems to have not been delivered yet - maybe by the 5th generation they will.
On foreign forums, they write that the A7Sh and the system in general are inclined to collect dust on the matrix, and the coating of the matrix is so susceptible to damage during cleaning that many services refuse to clean these cameras. Further, Sony cameras, due to their long exposure noise reduction algorithms, overwhelm the stars during astrophotography. I remember there were some shoals with raw when there is a clear contrasting object in the frame, such as a star track in the black sky and it was covered with artifacts in raw. Standard raw files distort the picture, according to the photographers, Sony added an option without compression with which the camera slowed down, and lossless compression in Sony was not mastered. Also, under certain circumstances, artifacts from the grid of phase detection autofocus sensors climb into the frame. A7Sh when shooting 4k video from the entire matrix stretches the image vertically relative to other modes, disrupting the geometry of the shot.
You can still search, but laziness ... What is it, the third generation, how much does it cost? Something consumers have spoiled them ...

          • Arkady Shapoval

a7r had only contrast autofocus (consider that it didn’t exist at all)

They did not know the tin of a jamb with the size of a bayonet hole.

        • Koba

In the entire free history of camera construction, Nikon managed to release only a few cameras without significant flaws (mostly technical) - these are D300, D500, D7100, D3, D3s, D4s. The new D5 has a banding problem (!!!). I went to buy it with a Chinese friend, took test shots, because for some reason I did not believe the test files from the Internet, and everything is correct, significant banding when pulling shadows, and D5s may never be, or Nikon will end this line at the mark D6 as with F6. And if we see that the D6 came out without a built-in battery pack, it will mean the end of this line and the technological cycle of professional SLR cameras. It is also very likely that this will not happen, depending on the so-called. sports photographers and professional reporters; and the level of development of other technologies such as mirrorless.

          • Onotole

And why not in the list of D850, with it what?

          • Pokemon

According to rumors, the D6 will be on the sensor from the Z6 and will be released before the start of the Olympics in Japan.
            As well as the successor of 1DX mk2 - 1DX mk3.
Canon, Nikon, Sony are in a hurry to release top-end reporting cameras for the Olympics in Japan next year. This is a matter of prestige.

        • Eugene

192000 frames on the d750 from the first installments, the camera falls under the response of shutter and light.
In fact - no problems for 4+ years, pah-pah-pah.

    • Dmitriy

It is clear that the future is for cameras without a mirror and for electric cars. The main problem they have in common is the battery. Until a revolution in technology takes place, we will be content with the central brake cylinder and gasoline engines.

      • anonym

In developed countries, gas engines will be banned very soon.
What does not suit you Sony A7 MK 3 with Sony NP-FZ100 battery? It takes 700 frames on average per charge.

        • Dmitriy

In our climate, a modern electric car is a corpse.

      • Valentine

When they write that the battery in the BZK is a problem, then they recall mobile phones. Any modern smart with a bright screen and a bunch of gadgets eats up the battery many times faster than on an old Nokia with a monochrome display. Everyone squeaks, but they use a modern smartphone, and not an old Nokia. With the UPC also - the battery is consumed quickly precisely because it is eaten by the UPC buns - EVI, the display, the stabilizer on the matrix, etc. On the BZK, my battery sits down 2 times, sometimes 3 times faster than on the ZK. But the number of selected photo frames, and the captured video is usually more than on the ZK. With the UPC, I just take 1 or 2 spare batteries and don't worry about this problem at all. In reality, what could have reduced my battery consumption is an auxiliary monochrome screen, it is a pity that it is made in few places.

        • anonym

On the Sony a7 mk 3, the battery lasts for 700 frames. Enough?
          What are you talking about?

          • Onotole

The conversation is that if I just walk all day with a BZK camera, then the batteries may not be enough for 7 shots.

            • anonym

Who told you such nonsense? Have you thought of it or troll as usual?
Did you even hold the Sony a7 iii in your hands?
At least some proofs of your inflamed stream of consciousness about 7 frames on one charge?

              • Michael

It’s easy, it’s enough not to turn off the camera, just like in the live view it will end quickly

              • anonym

Those. all bz do not know how to turn off automatically?
Once again, the Sony a7 mk3 in the walk mode, clicked on the tops, the beach, crabs, cats, etc. allows you to shoot 700 frames without tension. The people on er ke removes 600 each.
Insurance against idiots who will forcefully keep the screen active without removing the camera do not have anything, which proves nothing because any DSLR in this mode will last exactly the same amount.
What is the meaning of the question? 600-700 mirrorless frames are more than enough.

              • Dmitriy

The point of the question is that there are no significant advantages so far that should have discarded the CDC as a gramophone and run after the purchase of the CDC as a CD player. And the above example with the old Nokia compared to modern smartphones is also incorrect. Therefore, everyone turns a blind eye to the short operating time of smartphones, because their technical capabilities are many times higher than cell phones of the past generation. If the UPC would be, even cheaper than the UPC, it would make sense to switch to them. In the meantime, they have no special qualities, except for marketing and fashion.

              • Dmitriy

Once again I will explain the meaning of my previous post.
The difference between a gramophone and a CD, between a cart and a sports car, between a push-button phone and an OLED smartphone is huge. There are no special, fundamental differences between UPC and CPC both in functionality and in the final product - a photograph. Nikon Z6 and Nikon D850 are practically single-platform cameras, the difference is only in some details and photos are of almost the same quality. There are no big differences compared to the first black and white TVs and 65-inch 4K panels.

        • Dmitriy

And this problem is also constantly written on resources on mobile technology. Everyone is waiting for a quality breakthrough in battery technology, not cosmetic improvements.

          • Valentine

They write and write, but you shouldn't exaggerate it. First, because some cameras use more powerful batteries with an increased resource. Secondly, the cameras themselves consume less and less power. Third, take a spare battery, no problem. I shoot both on ZK Nikon and BZK micro 4/3. And my choice has nothing to do with battery life. And it is connected with the difference in the fleet of optics, the capabilities of the matrix, the cost of ownership, the quality of compatible accessories (primarily flashes), the correspondence of the conditions and tasks of shooting. So it turns out that in some cases it is cheaper and more convenient to own a ZK, while in others it is easier and better to have an UZK. Everyone has their own experience, but the battery does not bother (there are 2 on the ZK, on the BZK 4, but usually I rarely use more than 3). Arkady, after all, writes not about comparing the average ZK with the average BZK, but about different systems, that is, complexes - a line of cameras of different levels, lenses (native, third-party), accessories (flashes, synchronizers, batblocks), etc. A normal photographer does not choose between UPC and ZK, he chooses a specific system: a set of optics, cameras and straps.

You are often asked BEGINNERS what kind of full-frame bz to buy, and for beginners to buy the top Sony a7 mark 3, go nuts! All normal photographers know that the lens is more important than the Sony a7 mark 3, which is a professional photographer’s tool.
It used to be interesting to read something on your blog, now honestly not.

    • Arkady Shapoval

I described my experience. For example, ask reporters why they need such a corpus? A good case is also needed how. The advantage of the bzk in size has long been leveled out by lenses. It's elementary with heavy lenses that you want to use a full body. Also, please note that the a7m3 is not a top-end camera. Sony's top camera is the A9. Also, what can you advise from full-frame UPCs as a good solution if such a question arises?

      • BB

We went on vacation for a week as 'light' as possible. I took the D7100 with me, twisted the butblock (minus 200 grams, minus the size) - like a stump in my hand, despite the fact that the hand is small))
(before this, the block almost never twisted)
The combo body rules! (or a butblock for rogue, like me - already the third ZK with a butblock)

    • NEO

As for me, it's only Dmitry here you wrote nonsense or didn't read something carefully. Tell us about the size of Olympus with such a body, or do you think - what is smarter than engineers and photographers? Butblock is at times less convenient and reliable than a monolithic horse. A7mark3 for 2000 bucks is not a TOP camera. Top cameras are 1dmark2, d5, maybe a9 with a stretch. All normal photographers understand the importance of both the lens and the camera. There are 100 comments here, the topic is hot and important, but a guru-photographer will always come, who hasn’t even taken a picture at the bzk and will begin to teach the mind of the experienced Varangians

      • Arkady Shapoval

well, mark 2 and d5 are clearly not mirrorless :)

    • Michael

It remains to mention the low weight of the bzk systems and there will be a full lol

  • Arkady Shapoval

There are now recalling some s6, s7 in connection with the problems of the stub. Now we can expect a second wave of dissatisfaction (the first was in connection with one slot for memory cards).

    • Koba

So I have already written above about Nikon and their quality control. I happened in China, they immediately began to laugh, but Nikon has the same problems, fortunately, not fatal. So they started again with problems and now they are recalling the cameras, this was just not enough for them, they recently reported that their revenues decreased by 18 percent, and this is almost a critical number in the language of business and profitability. This means that you have already started to be hit hard in the market and you have nothing to answer. This is what their borderline arrogance has driven them to. All honest and experienced observers pointed out mistakes to them, but they didn't give a damn. Has anyone seen that their own lenses did not fit Olympus and had no or front focus? But this question is directly related to the poor standardization of production and product quality control! But even users turn a blind eye to this, but new users do not, and they began to slowly switch to other cameras. But what about the adorable video and some vital video features in Nikon cameras? But no, they were the first to embed video in DSLRs (D90!), But they never finished it, by the way, and what is technically hindering or hindering the creation of a semi-mirror and an electronic additional viewfinder built into the SLR? It is not so difficult technically, and Nikon and even Kenon proposed this at least 2-3 engineering groups, even proposed patents, but no, they are like that, they stand on the pedestal and don't want to hear anything. So we finished playing. Now they began to rush to rectify the situation and stumbled upon an excellent business start from Parasinik, then there is a company with huge money and one of the most powerful financial clans in Japan, with an amazing experience in electrical engineering in general, as well as excellent product quality control. How else to explain that the new Panasonic literally bypasses all the other FF novelties on all counts? Let's remember that in the famous Nikon D3s there is a Panasonic matrix and not Sony as it can be read on many sites. Sooner or later they will continue to produce dies again, I think ... This is how companies develop their products, and Nikon began to wait for its end. I am writing this because I still hope that the fires will be able to rectify the situation and get out of the impending disaster.

Decline in camera sales is a problem for both Kenon and Nikon, and Sony is more likely to press smartphones. Sony also sold fewer cameras in the same period last year.

        • Pokemon

Sony has published its latest annual financial report, which covers the period from March 31, 2018 to March 31, 2019. It follows that the sales volume of the product and image processing solutions division increased by 14,6 billion yen (8,5 billion rubles). Thus, revenue growth was 2% year on year.

In a report, Sony said, due to which there was an increase in turnover.

“The increase was mainly due to the improvement of the product range, reflecting the transition to high value-added models, such as mirrorless cameras with a single lens and a line of interchangeable lenses. This partially compensates for the decrease in sales of compact digital cameras that is observed in the market, ”Sony said in a report.

Meanwhile, amid a shrinking market and declining sales of Canon (17% in the camera segment) and Nikon (17,9%), Sony’s positive performance looks promising.
A drop in sales or a decrease in growth rates among camera manufacturers is in line with the general trend of the world market. This segment fell from 798 thousand to 521 thousand units (cameras with interchangeable lenses) in February 2019. Compared to 2010, the camera market shrank by 84%.

Sony is doing fine, the Kenikon DSLR market is shrinking.
See reports, they are in the public domain.
          predicted in the near future
          - the Nikon and Kenon crop line will practically be closed, one top model will remain at best without any prospects, the process has already been cracked, new whistle-making deals are facilitated and castrated by any means.
          - the line of budgetary FF Nikon and Kenon DSLRs will close, they have already been replaced by mirrorless cameras
          - the line of DSLRs will close super-super-many pixel FFs - replaced by mirrorless cameras
          - The costs of developing new technologies for DSLRs, lenses for them, etc. will drop sharply.
          - the big question is the cannon mirrorless crop.
          - the big question is the crop 2x line of Olympus.

trend 2019-2020 - mirrorless cameras, FF, 4K / 60 video without crop, 5-axis IBIS, hybrid AF, eye focusing (Nikon urgently adds in the new firmware for its BZ), etc.

I was surprised to see that size is a contradictory thing. I now have 2 favorite cameras - Canon 5D and Sony A6000. And the 5D fits perfectly under my arm, but Sony can simply be thrown into my pocket (but the ergonomics infuriate). And for my wife 5D is too big and heavy, but she is delighted with Sonya ... If I am driving a car, or choose to take pictures on purpose, I take a backpack with a Canon, and I take Sony with me almost everywhere, and by the weight of luggage (on flights) she does not affect at all. But this is the opinion of an amateur - I shoot a) for the soul and b) as an accompanying process in the main work.

Arkady, the question is off top - have you ever thought of writing an article about hidden amendments that are applied by editors without any notification to the user when opening a RAV file?
For example, there is a hidden exposure correction (baseline exposure correction), there is a hidden noise reduction (this is reflected by Fuji mirrorless), an S-shaped tone curve and other and other are applied.

Or an article in which cases it is necessary to increase the ISO and in which it is easy to pull the exp in post-processing, as you know there is a nonlinear dependence ... in which cameras and which modes is it better ...

Or about doubling the resolution by shifting the matrix, as it is implemented, already three brands make cameras with the ability to get doubling for static objects, something similar is on the flagship Sony only gracefully bypassed the limitations of the BYER and did something a la foveon.

You simply don’t have the video as a class, although today it is one of the most important for cameras since the revolutionary Canon 5D Mark 2.

In fact, there are a lot of new products, no offense, but you basically all relate to technologies of a decade or more ago, the impression is that you are either not aware of the many introduced new products or you are not interested, the impression is that you still have the beginning of the 2000s.

    • Dmitriy

Video - This function is inherent in video cameras. Photo is one of the main functions of cameras.

      • Arkady Shapoval

So it was before 5D mark II, after it the world changed a bit

      • Cat

        see comment Arkady.
No one in 2019 considers cameras in isolation from the video.
The epic failure of Nikon DF has successfully confirmed this simple fact.

    • Arkady Shapoval

There are a million topics and a million desires. I'm not in a hurry, I am writing at my own pace for my blog.

    • Sergei

Regarding RAW fetish you can read on the blog rawdigger https://www.rawdigger.ru/howtouse it deals with just about iso, tonal curves and so on. There are recommendations for exposure when it makes sense to increase ISO, and when not. Fuji in the first top models baked noise in raw, now I don’t know, maybe they are also doing it. Sony bakes in raw lens aberration correction. Maybe someone else. Olympus and Fuji, as a rule, underexpose the frame by a stop and a half, and then extend it in order to avoid knocking out lights.

Regarding the mode of increasing the resolution - the camera takes several frames sequentially each time shifting the matrix around the original point, either by half a pixel, or by a pixel, then it writes all this into the final high-resolution file. Such a thing is possessed by cameras like Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax and Hasselblad, I don't know about Sonya, maybe they too. The Pentax also has a function for increasing the depth / accuracy of color, where the matrix is mixed within one pixel so that all its subpixels take an image from one point, it just turns out something like a foveon. This is still available from a tripod and for static scenes. if, for example, some foliage sways or some other movement in the frame, unpleasant artifacts appear. Those. it can be used in subject shooting, maybe for winter landscape. Something like this…

      • Cat

Sergey, yes, I generally know that.
It’s just that the laughter parses when the fanboys jump with the noisy RAVs of the same Fuji and prove what his low noises are, being sure that if you turn off the noise canceling in the settings, it’s kind of disconnected.
Or to read absolutely illiterate nonsense about mirrorless mirrors, the impression is that people have never held modern system cameras in their hands and their opinion is formed by facts 3-5 years ago.
Sony in a7r3 implemented algorithms other than a simple matrix shift.
It has two interesting modes, HLG - Hybrid Log Gamma and Multi-Shot Mode.
The first one relates to video, but it can be applied to photos as well, this is the so-called ETTR. Main application is for landscape photographers.
The second one is a kind of analog of foveon, in Multi-Shot Mode 4 shots are taken for each color (1 - red, 1 - blue, 2 - green) without the need to use demosaic at all. This dramatically improves the resolution of the final image without increasing its size (which is logical!) And noticeably improves the midtones and color. The main purpose is shooting static objects.
Other brands have had interesting news for a long time, are aimed at macro, video bloggers, etc.
And the impression is that all these new products are completely unfamiliar to those who comment on this topic.

            What is it for?
Somewhere here crop vs full frame was discussed?

          • Sergei

            http://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm
Here, for example, you can see the DD values for different cameras. It is clear that this is all relative and depends on the methods. But what’s interesting here is, for example, if you take the Nikon D750 camera there in full-frame (FX) mode and crop mode (DX), it turns out that the DD of the latter is noticeable below. And if you compare the crop result with the Nikon d7100 crop camera, you can see that they coincide, and the D7200 already has better parameters than the D750 in crop mode. It turns out that the sensitivity of one pixel is roughly the same for the crop and FF matrices within the same generation, ff just has more such pixels, i.e. more than different brightness values per percent of the area of the resulting frame, hence the above DD and better work at high ISO values and this difference is about 1-1.5EV.
That is, the belief that the crop is deliberately made poorer than FF is a myth ...

Behind all these disputes, the main thing is the photograph itself, and it is not so important to take it with or without a mirror. I think that EVI is not yet so dope for working in difficult reporting conditions, therefore there are no cameras in the combo box in any case, this is a more fragile thing than JVI. On the other hand, a short working distance allows you to do better resolution optics, where the mirror mount is a limiter; for example, it’s impossible to take 28-70 / 2.0 on the mirror.

    • anonym

just the photo is not lost.
if you worked with 85 1.2 or 50 1.2, then you know that even in ideal conditions there is a huge amount of marriage on DSLRs. we put them on the mirrorless - as if new lenses, the number of defects has sharply decreased.
eye focusing is great, try it.
for reporting - yes, DSLRs are better. so the ones will remain, instead of with the top reportages of the crop. everything else is already moving to the mirrorless. the train left.

      • anonym

Most of those who wrote here 50 / 1.2 and 85 / 1.2 in their hands just never held. Well, the UPC won. Well, I’m telling me there’s still a mirror there or not, what’s the problem, we’ll shoot without a mirror

      • Onotole

“Everything else is already moving to the mirrorless. the train left."

        - oh, trouble, trouble - what a chagrin! ...

      • anonym

Are you just moving to mirrorless? That and I for a long time removed on FED.

    • Sergei

Well, it is worth noting that people who are really passionate about photography or making money with it are unlikely to spend much time in such disputes.
“A short flange distance allows making more perfect optics in terms of resolution” - why else? A short flange distance, on the other hand, adds a lens block to the lens, which is responsible for parallelizing the rays coming to the matrix, since if the beam hits the matrix at an acute angle, it will lead to vignetting and an increase in color distortions from the center to the edge of the frame. Read about the problems of the same Sony A7 when putting on lenses from rangefinders with a short working segment. It's just that the film as a photographic material has a small thickness and is not critical to the arrival of rays at an acute angle, and the digital matrix has a thickness due to microlenses, light filters, AA filter.
Nikon, for example, has fifty dollars with aperture 1.2 but it is manual, because otherwise the contact area of the lens would block the light flux and lead to unpleasant effects. This is their miscalculation, apparently then they did not think about creating such glasses. It's like Sony did not think about the stabilizer on the matrix when they read their mount and sat in a puddle.
Nevertheless, the creation of a zoom lens with aperture 2.0 does not present fundamental problems even for Nikon SLRs.
Well, the need for lenses with aperture of 0.95-1.2 on FF cameras is a big question. Such lenses can really be needed a couple of times in life, and in those cases you can use Photoshop instead of buying such glasses for 100500 money ...

      • anonym

Sergey, Regarding the short working distance, read the Kenon interview, where they directly indicate that the short working distance allows you to create less bulky lenses with a higher aperture, and do not forget that they increased the diameter of the mount so as not to have the problems you indicated.

        • Sergei

Is this an interview from photar.ru or what? It's like taking Sergei Samsonov seriously with photowebexpo ... Well, you can start with the fact that this is not an interview with CANON, but with a talking head from the Canon stand. You probably read it wrong, but there seems to be no "short section allows you to create lenses that are less bulky or with a higher aperture." Otherwise, it would be somehow strange, considering that the Canon glasses are huge. In general, with this article you can burn out in places. "Here is a matrix stub, we are still thinking why manufacturers producing such cameras have a stabilizer in their lenses, because the matrix one is not effective." Yeah, let Olympus be told that the matrix stub is not effective. Yes, they promote hybrid stabilization, but they have 7.5 stops there. Maybe they meant Sonya ... I don't know the truth about their stable lenses ...
Or here: "We can make cool matrices, but the optics will not resolve them." Is it Canon able to do cool matrices? : D
From the bayonet hole, it is necessary, by and large, so that nothing interferes with the path of light from the rear lens of the lens to the matrix. Despite the fact that the size of this lens is determined by the circumscribed circle around the matrix. Somehow I imagine it.
In general, the way of applying proven technologies is what distinguishes professional equipment from consumer goods. This Sony is just trying to be ahead of the rest of the planet, well, what we have is what we have ...

          • anonym

This is an interview with canon.
You yourself have come up with something incomprehensible, something with incomprehensibly someone and you yourself violently deny. It’s ridiculous.
            Apparently speaking heads this
Manabu Kato - Head of EF + RF mount R&D
Yoichi Sato - EOS camera electronics R&D
Shogo Yamaguchi - Optical planning specialist
Do you understand lens design better than them? I doubt it deeply!)
Which lens did you design? But people have designed above. Here is their opinion
the introduction of the large diameter mount with the shorter back-focus distance, we were expecting it to be more suitable for designing wider-angle lenses, but it turned out to be very effective for designing this telephoto lens.
And so on .. Read the originals, think up less ..

            • Sergei

The link would then be provided so that there is no doubt that we are discussing the same thing. I typed a working segment into Yandex “canon interview” I got this ...
              https://photar.ru/eksklyuzivnoe-intervyu-canon/
How do I know that you didn't mean it ...
Nothing follows from the piece of the interview that you presented, it is an empty text. The public needs to hear something, but they need to say something, like motivating to change the old for the new, like they did something, yeah.
If you argue from the position “well, you can't scold this car for this, this and this, despite the fact that they themselves have not made a single car,” then you can put on a blissful smile and eat everything that is given. The product is made for the consumer, and who else should evaluate how the product meets his needs.

              • anonym

google the presentation of the R camera and the new bayonet mount.
there by the way there is a photograph of 70-200 lenses for EF and R and a nearly twofold decrease in size and weight is clearly shown.

              • Sergei

Anonymous, I found some other article, maybe this is the same, but there is also one water.
                https://prophotos.ru/reviews/20870-canon-rf-i-canon-ef-test/2
Here it is still looked. Rawtherapee didn’t want to open something for cr3, but I looked at jpg from a new lens and, on a par with a dime with an old fifty, I twisted about the same thing using local contrast, sharpness and edge selection.
Of course, I think that the new one is optically better in terms of sharpness and contrast, but according to the jpeg presented in the article, there is more difference in intra-camera processing. The bokeh is also more pleasant in the old one, in my opinion, in the new one it is somehow more nervous and there is a suspicion of onion rings. But the old one apparently has a greater predisposition to chromatic aberrations, worse sharpness across the entire field, but here you also need to watch raw files, because the brains of the new camera can mask a lot ...
In general, if I had suddenly taken EOS R for some reason, I would have preferred an adapter with filters and the old half-1.2.

  • Dmitriy

Thanks for your review and opinion! The question is, for that price (camera + lenses) you can buy a car. For professionals, it is certainly relevant, for amateurs ... I have an old Zenith M-3. Having been confused, I bought or got lenses for it for free. Compared to Nikon D7100 or D750, it is definitely lighter. But with a park of optics, the gain of 200 grams of carcass is not felt in any way in a backpack. The main weight is lenses, flashes, light filters, etc.
In fact, manufacturers are trying to get money out of consumers without offering breakthrough solutions. Will there really be a difference between my CZK and Sony A9 when shooting a landscape? Well, the crop of the edge of the frame will be worse with Tamron 10-24, lightning is more difficult to remove. Despite the fact that my kit will be 15-20 times cheaper?
Well, you can buy a D810 or D610 on a used market for $ 500. To them is a stabilized tamron or sigma. Will there be a difference in this case, except for 300-400 grams? I doubt it. The same Tamron 24-70 VS is clearly lighter than competitors from Nikon, Sony, Cannon.
Need to shoot a video? This is another matter. Here, 100% mirrorless is what we should strive for.
I’ll clarify again that this is the view of an amateur consumer, not a professional who knows exactly what he needs.

    • anonym

Dmitry, your questions are not entirely clear.
Firstly, ff SLRs cost several times more at one time, even the Nikon D200 had a price of $ 1500, and the propyatx 1900 $ did not stop fans from buying them either.
The simplest bz canon costs $ 1200, the most popular Sony a7 mk3 costs $ 2200.
For landscapes this sony has ettr, see description above.
Although only for landscapes, the d810 may be better.
Advantages of bz - accurate af for small flu, macro, ettr, video.

  • Went away for a while ...
