This is no longer a trump card, but marketing. Still, the weight of the kit determines the size of the matrix. For 4/3 it makes sense to make lightweight and compact cameras. And the light 35mm will have difficulties even with a relatively small 70-200, it’s even inconvenient to talk about 400mm.
Oleg, the weight and size of the BZK was a marketing move for entering the market.
The ugly and uncomfortable retrodesign attracted only a small fraction of people, and professional photography remained on the mirrors. Well, maybe only videographers were happy.
Now, when everyone has already “played enough” with small toys, manufacturers are slowly approaching professionals, releasing more and more real copies, both in design and in functionality.
Quite a little time will pass and we will see the large-scale complex in the “old” and “native” building, in which DSLRs now live.
The “ugly” retro design helped Fujifilm a lot.
