The price is sky-high!
As with all new technologies .. for now.
What new technologies are there? Sony has already changed three generations of similar full-frame mirrorless cameras, but Nikon still counts as new technologies? They were just afraid of internal competition with their own DSLRs, so they pulled to the last. Just like Canon, by the way. And in the end, we got a camera that you can play in "find ten differences from Sony A7".
Until recently, there was a hope that they would not even make their own mount, but would release under their name E-mount (an open standard, if I remember correctly). Then this camera would be very interesting as an alternative to Sony, but in the same system, with existing optics. With all the shortcomings of the sensor with crop 2, the micro 4/3 system thrives, not least because it is supported by more than one manufacturer. So in this case, it would be just fine. And so far it’s not at all clear why you should choose Nikon instead of Alpha.
This is because of ignorance of Nikon's strategy. Nikon always releases cameras later than its competitors, thereby sweeping away all failed technologies. So it will be possible, albeit later, but more reliable and better than Sonya, Fuji.
Well, of course, how does one know Nikon's strategy for someone who also shot with film F80 and F100, and started digitally with the D50? ) I'm not talking about the prospects of the system as a whole, but about specific cameras. In a couple of generations, give or take, interesting cameras are likely to appear. While the system is secondary, the lenses are bulky and not very interesting, compatibility with old optics is not in the best implementation, there are no junior carcasses for a smooth entry into the system ... In short, PERSONALLY I would not choose Nikon only instead of Fuji and only choosing the system from scratch (I specially emphasized, to make it very clear). If I had an extensive fleet of Nikon SLR optics, I would definitely prefer the D850 or the more budgetary D610. Compact full frame for manuals or video - Sony. Travel system - m4 / 3.
In fact, the strategy is very simple - recently there has been a fashion for the UPC (not least thanks to SONY and FUJI) - so why not sell new cameras and new lenses to those in need on this hype? Who will feel bad from this?
Normal price for this level of technology
The price is too high, because it is clearly not up to the level of Sony A7 III
Something I did not see the price in the article. How much will it cost?
Z6: carcass ~ $ 2000, whale kit ~ $ 2500, Z7: carcass ~ $ 3500, whale kit ~ $ 4000 /
Thanks Arkady.
Camera-camera, Chukchi bite hotsite ...
Well, the arms race continues!))
Finally, a full-fledged bzk system. So far, everyone is happy, but there are questions;
Is Nikon betting on one slot?
Are XQDs So Reliable?
4K 30r and FSE?
Will there be a crop of bzk?
Will the price tag on the adapter be adequate?
Citizens approach, do not hesitate to supplement !!!
Most likely in this model range there will be one slot, and in subsequent cameras of a higher level there will be several slots.
Original XQDs are very reliable
8K timelaps, 10bit hdmi, 120p Full HD
No exact data
Most likely it will. And I am sure there will be a million alternative ones.
adapter 250 separately, 150 if with a camera, full compatibility with 90 lenses, compatibility with 360 lenses
As for me - 250 is expensive. The adapter, in my opinion, is an ordinary macro ring with a built-in diaphragm drummer. For example, a whale set from modern d3400 and 18-55 costs 500 dollars... With this logic, we can assume that 50% of the price of the camera is the diaphragm hammer.
Sony has a more sophisticated adapter with additional complications, such as a focusing motor for non-motorized screwdriver lenses, as well as a translucent mirror, as well as a focusing module (!) And a similar diaphragm striker costs about the same - 300 dollars.
Krop will not be. j1 prosrali, and in the cropped sector there is nothing to do.
Crop may and will appear, but apparently not soon. They were harnessed with these for a long time ... :)
The price tag for the adapter is $ 250 if it is separate and $ 150 if you buy it in a kit with a camera.
4K 30r and FSE?
- Maybe I don’t understand Th, but I'm wondering why you are more interested? Are you going to shoot slowmo for the cinema?
What do you mean why? When the sidekick after drinking 40 liters of beer, they jump from the run into the river. Every second is precious. Especially when they did not calculate and it turns out not broad, but broads.
I can’t think of anything else ..
The camera is supposed to be pretty good, judging by the rumored stuffing. But I don’t understand what the manufacturer is counting on by charging that much money for these cameras. Already proven chic "Sony" from the last sevens are cheaper.
And what does Sony have to do with it?
Despite the fact that the A7 and A9 series are the most direct competitors to this Nikon. Very likely even on the same matrices. And produced for several years.
Matrices, according to NIKON RUMORS, a new development, production of the Israeli TOWER JAZZ
Sony, in my opinion, had one very important advantage - an absolute total monopoly on the full-frame mirrorless camera market. No more autofocus full-frame mirrorless cameras simply did not exist (all sorts of watering cans - without af, and a completely different audience). So Sony has conquered the market. Now they will not have this main advantage, since their real competitor has grown. On Western forums, Sonya's fans are already pushing with all their might in every topic, in every blozhik, which Sonya are great and what a bad Nikon. Here and now it will be the same.
So after all, I am about the same, the top starter commentary "have already checked: chic" Sony "from the last sevens are cheaper", modestly keeping silent about the lens park :)
So you want to say that the optics park for Sony is smaller? Or are Nikon lenses cheaper? )))
I want to say that for Nikonists who have a decent optics fleet, it’s cheaper to buy a carcass with an adapter, and then slowly update the optics. Or do you want to say, to sell lenses on the cheap and buy your favorite Sony cheaper? :)
There is almost nothing to buy there after the sale (
I disagree FOR BEZERZALKOV with the FOCUS PEAKING function in the camera you do not need to buy expensive Sonevsky and Zeiss lenses, relatively inexpensive ones to help you: Sigma AF 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM, Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM A, + from Samyang 85mm T1.5 AS IF UMC VDSLR II and others from
Canon EF, especially painless for those who sat on Canon EF, the name of the lens park, of course, you need an adapter with a contact group and they are cheap, I bought one myself and they work well for photos (though not all) With poor eyesight, I point quickly through the monitor and there are almost no misses. Tested: Canon EF 35mm f / 2.0 IS; Canon EF 85mm f / 1.8 USM; Canon EF 24-105mm f / 4.0L; Canon EF 284-105mm f / 3.5 -4.5 and a bunch of manuals ... of these, only 85 focuses poorly on the Sony A6300 and Sony A6500, so if anyone wants to buy a mirrorless camera, you may not care about glass at all. Filmed a lot of matinees, weddings, birthdays, graduation class 11. I have a Sony 50 1.8 and rented it - Sony SEL-P18105 18-105mm F4 G OSS, but 50 1.8 does not always focus accurately when moving to the camera and often jumps back where it is more contrasting, although it is not even bad.
yes, I forgot to say that I described about video shooting, and when focusing, it focuses a bit better, like the Canon 5 is the first at 50 mm speed, and if the Sony SEL-P18105 18-105mm F4 G OSS is almost instantly like a Canon 5 mark 2
Well, it’s really not clear what the advantage of Nikon is in addition to the name, higher price and the possibility of installing native motor optics through an adapter. But on Sony you can even put screwdrivers Minolta. Well, as if this and that were not a killer.
Peripherals and service decide a lot. The same Nikon NPS, for professional photographers, is a very pleasant and useful thing, parting with which, switching to Sony, will be painfully painful.
And where does infa come from that Sony is cheaper? According to my estimate - in the price tags, taking into account the class of models - full parity.
Of the announced Nikon prices and Sony prices, not?
Sony is 3 dollars more expensive
On z7, the price is announced from $ 3300, and a7r3 is sold for about $ 3700. Where is Sony cheaper?
Nikon came in with a trump card right away.
Well done, cho!
The price for such equipment is normal.
But, to be honest, I can’t imagine a product niche.
Yes, and the design is so-so.
Ergonomics - good. But the view ... ((
On the contrary, I don’t like that I didn’t come with a trump card. These are cameras of the upper segment, but not TOP cameras, like D4, D5. And it is not clear whether there will be any at all. If I immediately released some kind of Z1 with real capabilities not lower than D5, then personally I would immediately see the seriousness of the system, its intentions and real capabilities. And so are fakes with childhood diseases, for example, the same drop in speed when shooting with a 14-bit Rav, which has been going on since 2008 (10 years). One slot for memory cards, the lack of support for AF optics (and SONY is not too lazy to insert the motor into its adapter), and the announcement of the battery handle was only announced (not seriously, after all). Etc. Therefore, I think that the Z6 / Z7 is something from the category of Nikon D750, maybe something between the D850 / D750, D810-850 with a stretch.
It is not always right to throw out all the trump cards at the beginning; you can lose.
And what design does not suit? In the style of today's OPC from other manufacturers, the lenses are also in trend.
Nikon Z6, is the ISO extension specified correctly? The article says “ISO 100-512000 (expandable to 50 or 204800 units)”, but 204800 is lower than 512000
Fixed
Fu you damn it! I hoped that the adapter would have a screwdriver - then it would be a real bomb! Otherwise, use it only in the manual. Hmm, in the manual, it was possible to fit Nikon optics with a diaphragm ring on Canon. If, at least, the Z-Eos adapter appeared with a new flange of the Z-mount, then all right, and so ... I expected more
Sergey, I think the Chinese rivet a whole range of adapters for the Z mount for different tastes and wallets. However, developing an adapter with a built-in screwdriver by ourselves is a very difficult task and only the manufacturers of optics for Nikon F mount are capable of doing it. I'm sure there are some subtleties with the new mount. The same focusing in LiveView is not available for all Tamron and Sigma lenses.
The logic of marketers can be understood, not many will buy the ultra-modern, expensive, full-frame mirrorless, to use glass from almost a film era on it.
The price of the adapter is quite affordable https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1431716-REG/nikon_4185_ftz_mount_adapter.htmlWhat can not be said about 50mm 1,8 for almost $ 600
At the start of sales, it will come off, but I would like within 200 Baku. Of course, they turned it down with a half, maybe at least the AF will be fast ...
Sony has the same Sony 55mm F / 1.8 ZA T * costs about 900 dollars.
How so? After all, Sony is cheaper :)
This is only at Shrek)))
Sony put stabilizers on many of its lenses, though there is also a matrix stub. Nikon decided to save?
Here is the bullet that killed the Nikon D850
What killed a small size?
But I’m wondering what are the advantages of the Nikon Z7 at least in front of the Nikon D850?
In addition to the video.
5-stage stabilizer, burst speed, autofocus optics with F / 0.95. Someone will like EVI (the eternal question JVI and EVI) Number of focus points, weight, main display. The Z6 has a basic ISO higher. Etc.
Wouldn't 58 / 0.95 be manual?
Hard to tell. In appearance, it should be manual, but maybe it will be lucky and will be with af.
Noct will be manual. “… Fast, manual-focus lens delivering superb point-image reproduction and elaborate rendering with f / 0.95 maximum aperture…”
https://cdn-4.nikon-cdn.com/e/Q5NM96RZZo-RRZZFeeMiveET0gpU-PYm90DZMEpjBfZRR51BYn9b4sjxcCuc2_t9Tr8iw3d-qf0=/Misc/NIKKOR-Z-Brochure.pdf
I have no words. This news upset me much more than anything else that is connected with the new Z system.
Canon made her Canon EF Lens 50mm 1: 1.0 L Ultrasonic back in 1989 for a SLR camera. Yes, and I agree with Ken that there is no practical difference between F / 1.0, F / 0.95, and 0.95 was invented for the sake of a psychological effect. "We have such a cool new mount, we will make very cool lenses, but perhaps without autofocus."
Yes, Sony is now krant.
Sonya are not crazy - Nikonov has an absolutely identical system in terms of the degree of ugliness; Sonya can sleep peacefully.
What do you dislike about Sony’s current mirrorless generation?
We have already discussed, compactness is imaginary, there is no mirror - hello battery life, there are very few native optics and (partly because of this) it is expensive.
Small size and moronic ergonomics
Well, the lack of (that is, few) autofocus lenses
Arkady, thanks!
Or can someone explain why Nikon needed to invent a new mount for the bz system? Why is regular F not suitable?
Well, kagbe working distance is much less, no?
Make high-aperture AF glasses as announced by Noct 58 0,95
DSLRs have a mirror, this determines the minimum possible working distance, the distance between the matrix / film to the bayonet flange. For DSLRs this is 45-50 mm. Mirrors do not have a mirror and you can make a small working segment for reasons of compactness. Nikon made 16mm, Sony seems to have 19mm. Even if Nikon left an old bayonet mount, SLR lenses designed for a working length of 46.6 mm would not be able to project a picture on this mirrorless camera.
Where is compactness, open your eyes!
Look at, say the D750 with 50 / 1,8 and the Z6 with its 50 / 1,8.
Who prevented them from designing compact lenses like a watering can?
Would you like a bzk with an old working section and a bayonet mount?
No, I would like a bzk system whose dimensions would actually be smaller, not larger, or, at best, the same. Otherwise, it makes no sense. And so of all the advantages - only silent shooting.
I don’t know who was interfering with whom;
I once had a 6D + 40 / 2.8 STM that's compact :)
It seems to me that BZK has only one plus Evi. Yes, and that is rather a feature.
Then you need m4 / 3))) But there is a "despicable double crop")))
For me, the indisputable advantage of the UPC is the absence, oddly enough, of the same mirror (oh, how many times did it break), and in the case of Nikon, the absence of a diaphragm control mechanism (this is an unnecessary complicated design, an extra million mechanical moving parts). The lack of a mechanism for covering the focus sensors (remember the problem with the D750), simplification of focusing accuracy (no need to adjust the mirror, no second additional mirrorwhich creates the main sound of raising the mirror). Thus, from the mechanics, only the shutter and selectors / control dials remain. And in the future, if there is a global electronic shutter, then there will be beauty in general.
Believe me, Arkady - marketers will be able to find a way to make the UPC “on time” break down. Is it not obvious that over time, technology (photographic equipment in particular) only becomes less reliable (although it should be the other way around).
Judge for yourself - which lenses are more reliable than the old manual or new autofocus?
And among the latter - screwdriver or servo-driven?
And of those with a servo - do simple fixes or zooms equipped with a stabilizer break more often?
You can continue at least ad infinitum.
All right, but this is no reason to deny that, at least in theory, the absence of a large number of mechanical parts is noticeably better than with them. Also, if you think so, then always "the grass was then greener." It is impossible to level everything under one polarity.
What is the problem in the 750 with focus, tell me?
Of course, Nikon could save the working length, but this would increase the dimensions of the camera. In addition, as correctly noted, the new mount is larger and allows you to design more fast lenses.
if you leave the working segment, then you will not be able to use adapters
I meant to leave the old segment with the old mount, then new lenses are not needed at all :)))))
Good idea.
And what about Kenon? Is something new coming up?
Yes, an FF mirrorless is also planned in the near future.
They will bury Sonya. How to give a drink.
I agree with some of the previous commentators. As it turned out, there was no need to fence in the garden. In fact, the only lens for which the miracle bayonet had to be invented is 58 / 0,95.
Pancake! And it's all? Seriously? Well, and even so long desired by many 50 / 1.2. But after 2 (two) years. And that's all for now - well, probably, for whom 1.4 was categorically not enough - they will change the system for it. And everything else - 1.8, 1.8, 1.8 ... Yes, pay attention to what size it is 1.8 - (as well as all other supposedly compact mirrorless full-frame systems) the reduced flange focal distance on the camera will now be compensated ON EACH lens.
Duc, the scheme is not changed. Recalculate the lens this hoo! Why strain so much? Will be Sonya2
As for me, the dimensions of the optics are growing due to an increase in the resolution of the matrices and increasing requirements for optics. Rangefinder cameras have working segments similar to the BZK, and optics for rangefinders are very compact.
The size of the lens does not depend on its resolution.
And even if it were, what difference does it make: what kind of talk about compactness can there be with a fifty dollar (the most common, not 1,2 or even 1,4) the size of a half-liter can of beer?
I meant the compactness of the camera. As if the working distance would have been larger Nikon would have made a more compact lens? I myself am not happy with this size of optics. I do not know, Nikon that positioned this system as compact? If so, then this, of course, is disgrace, and if you did not position it, then all the rules.
No one has positioned it as compact. Normal system, normal sizes.
Well, well.
Paragraph 5 of the official press release. And further in the text - “the same level of strength, reliability and dust and moisture resistance as the D850, only in a compact case.
Well, where about the compact system? They can release some kind of Z-100500 in the D5 combo box.
Why don’t you believe people like that, Arkady?
Okay, here's a quote: The bodies are compact, while boasting a firm grip that is easy to hold ...
Answer now - is this still not positioning as compact?
When you show me an official statement that the system is positioned as compact, then we'll talk. Now there is a conversation about specific two models of cameras, no more. With the same success, it can be argued that when the Nikon D1 came out, the whole system was positioned as “super heavy and large”. But then the D100 and D70 and D40 lines came out.
Well, since you are so, then in this case - the expression "Nobody positioned it as compact" - is as wrong as the opposite statement.
That is, it teaches that: I cannot argue with reasoned and conscientiousness that the system is positioned as compact, and you cannot argue with me reasonably and conscientiously to this.
Well no. We're talking about a system. The question is - this system is positioned as "compact". The answer is no, it is not positioned.
You claim that it is positioned, which is wrong. In fact, all this is not a bit important. What can we talk about compactness, if with any 70-200 the camera-lens kit will not be compact in any way, even if instead of a camera we leave a thin sheet of paper in the form of a business card.
Well, let it be so, let’s leave it so as not to slip into verbiage.
And we are talking about compactness in the sense that, in fact, it can already be said now that the D750 + 50 / 1.8G will be larger, heavier and more expensive compared to the Z6 + 50 / 1.8Z (we bend your fingers). Although in theory it should be the other way around.
By the way, the lens on bhphotovideo is also described as compact.
It may be that over time all this will be aligned, but for now we have what we have.
Yes, paradoxically, this is precisely what makes sense. And so does not only Nikon. All TUPO lens makers extend the back of the lens by a few centimeters for BZK systems, compare for yourself. For example, the products of the same Sigma for Sony and, say for Nikon, differ only in a longer back.
And where else have you seen 50 / 1.8 of such gigantic sizes?
Yes, according to Sigma, you are right, but Nikon acted differently, see the optical schemes 50 / 1.8G and 50 / 1.8S themselves, 7 elements in 6 groups for G and 12 elements in 9 groups for S. The new lens has a rear lens unit that closely fits the bayonet mount lens, so it's not a spacer.
I repeat, I myself am against such large lenses
Take a look at the optical diagrams of the three lenses presented for Nikon Z - they are not made according to the principle you indicated. Here the rear element is everywhere very close to the camera matrix without unnecessary extension additives.
Perhaps so. However, I cannot help but notice that although I do not consider myself a commodity expert in the field of lenses, I don’t remember such a hefty (and heavy) STANDARD fix without a stub for a long time. Typically, the size grows with increasing aperture and deviation from the focal 35-50. The further the deviation, the larger the dimensions.
And if 50 / 1.8 is already like this, then it will be interesting to look at, say, the new 14-24 / 2,8. (The current one already weighs about 1 kg and the dimensions are quite impressive, especially for small mirrorless cameras).
Well, well, are you so upset about the half-hike? Normal half speed, lighter than Tamron AF SP 45mm F / 1.8 DI VC USD and comparable in size. Only there is no stub and the price tag is slightly higher.
With the release of these cameras, I am more worried about the prospect of the Nikon F mount :)
F-mount perspective - no change. With such a speed of lenses coming out for the new system, the relevance of F will not change for at least another 10-15 years.
And there - not the fact that Z will no longer be needed, anything can happen.
If it supports sb-400, I will definitely buy it.
I joke) Funny
I'm not joking: they are equally ugly.
If YongNuo YN-460 doesn’t support (what to sell now?) No, I won’t buy it :)
I wonder how with the dimensions? As flawed as Sony? Or did they make a BZK that you can normally hold in your hands?
I'll answer myself - sucks. The dimensions are at the level of the initial DSLRs, there will be nothing to hold on to
Nikon's clipboard can hold 18 14-bit RAWs, Sony A7 iii - 40.
It seems to me that someone missed the buffer for their cameras ...
Does the A7iii have any permission? Mathematics were not reported to anyone.
There will be no support for screwdriver glasses, although they are still sold.
This means that I will stay on the old bayonet while cameras of the ff range will be produced for it. If there is no adapter for screwdriver glasses at all, it's sad ...
An important plus in the BZK, their noiselessness and here the screwdriver motor will not be useful.
But I don’t need it. At minus 15, the screwdriver will work, and the motor in the lens the motor will already crackle. Passed by, thanks, no.
There will be no adapter for screwdriver glasses - I will sit on the old bayonet. Those who are chasing new products - let them spend money.
Bayonet Zu ... Nude, nude)
I like all these "mother's critics" so much ... Colleagues, can you stop whining? All your life you are not satisfied with something. Either the color rendition does not suit, then we sit on one bayonet for 100 years, then there is no AF glass f1.2. Now Nikon, after the release of the best CDC 2017 (d850, who does not know) is releasing a whole mirrorless system, and after all, only a year has passed. And your farts are burning again: why the hell is such a bayonet, then the weight of the camera is large, then one slot, then an adapter without a screwdriver, then why not 60fps to 4k, then the design is lousy, then it's very expensive. Friends, but after all, Nikon is already 101 years old and the company is holding on to the market, bzk is a completely new niche for them, let them accelerate. Yes, the characteristics may look ordinary on paper, but let's see how it will work, and then we will argue whether it worked well or badly. And it feels like everyone has been waiting for this day to order a set of new fuel assemblies from 24-70 and were disappointed. Personally, I do not need to change the DSLR to the bzk, I am sure that 85% of readers are happy too. Thanks to Arkady for the article! Respect to Nikon.
I am not against the new bayonet mount, since there is no need for this.
I need a screwdriver adapter. It will not be - in principle, I will not buy glasses for the new bayonet.
There are some good screwdriver lenses that I really like and I don’t want to lose AF.
can you read more about these glasses?

MachrieMoor, fully support! There is so much whining and negativity on the forums after every release of the camera by Nikon (and Canon recently). Either one was denied, then another. And even if everything seems to have been reported (D850), then nobody suddenly needs such a brick (although this is rightfully the best camera of the past year). And here is another manufacturer, well done. He reports everything (but for some reason they are silent about the flaws). And let this story be procrastinated in a different sauce, as if there were no other cases.
Such a song was with the d7500, 6Dm2 now with the new BZK.
As if unjustified wet fantasies require compensation in the form of negative posts on the forums.
Personally, I am glad that these cameras came out. Nikon is clearly developing, mastering a new bayonet mount (and the old one, in my opinion, has no future), adds / improves technologies (there is generally significant progress in video) and creates competition in the monopolized FF UPC market. Of course, this is not an easy task, because Sony took 3,5 generations to lick his cameras, and there are still a lot of comments on them.
I am sure that these cameras will have fans and buyers. They are not made (and are not positioned) as a replacement for the DSLR line, but are intended as an addition to the lineup with devices with new capabilities (well, as a springboard for other models / lenses for the new bayonet mount).
All good and good staff!
