Cool toy but you won’t have enough batteries :)

    • Valery A.

If there is money left for batteries.

    • Vitaly N

I remember the old Yeralash about the cool electronic clock ...

  • Alexander

Interestingly, she chooses the angle ?? Or is it still necessary to initially set a point on the wall / ceiling?

    • Valery A.

It seems like a cyborg does everything himself.

  • Maugli

Stunned! This is the coolest thing I've seen recently in the photo industry !!!

    • Arkady Shapoval

      yes me too.

  • Denis

cyborgs ... they filled the entire planet (c)

  • Peter Sh.

The whole world sings, and children are noisily rejoicing!

Now, each snotty dvoechnika with my dad’s DSLR will be popping out SHADEVERS in packs ..

    • Vitaly N

Something Arkady forgot to paint this button))))

  • anonym

A dozen grains of sand, and these plastic gears are covered with a copper basin.

  • Alexey

Ah, I like it, but yes, the resource question has a place to be.

  • anonym

Yes…. The promotional video seemed to be done well. But, with minimal analysis, many questions arise .. Firstly. The video shows, in fact, "studio shooting". The question is - have you seen a lot of self-respecting, advanced photographers (and the photographer in advertising is meant as such, since he uses the latest developments) who will shoot a model in studio with one (even an "advanced") flash ?? Well, at least a couple of soft umbrellas must be present ... Secondly. Shooting with flash according to the principle of “reflection in the ceiling” gives an acceptable result only if: a) The ceilings are relatively low; b) white ceilings. If the ceiling is ... dark, multi-colored, mirrored, very high ... the effect of this method of shooting will be no. Therefore, many photographers shoot in nightclubs "the old fashioned way": in one hand the camera, and in the other - a flash with software. The shots come out, of course, "harsh", but the color correction is simpler ... In general, about this flash .. A good toy, but no more. The scope of application will be very limited due to the above reasons. (well, and if the price for it is “transcendental”, which, most likely, will happen), then this gadget will be only for a narrow circle of users, as they say - “purely donate”.

    • Valery A.

And the price is not very sky-high - about 400 tanks. Link

      • anonym

Well .. if so, then nothing else, as they say - "there is a chance." Plus, in six months the price will drop by another 20-25%, as usual for all new items. But ... the price is the price, and the scope of its application will still be narrow (for the reasons given above). Well, yes, plus in terms of reliability - only time will tell. Real “pros” will hardly be interested in such a “toy”. Rather, for novice photographers who do not really want to do photo calculations, but rather rely on automation. In any case, the result will be better than the built-in flash

    • Vladimir

Well, for me personally, this flash is like the appearance of autofocus in the camera at the end of the 20th century. Or tracking focus a little later. At first, everything works well, very badly, but every month the algorithms are getting smarter and smarter, as a result - show me a sports photographer who shoots with manual lenses)

      • Onotole

As a person, relatively new in photography, but far from new in technology as a whole, and therefore, with a clean look, I will note: some things for me are generally beyond understanding. For example, about flashes: 2018 is in the yard, there are touchscreens and wifi in cameras, and native flashes cannot be remotely set on fire with a camera, how is that? Well, that is, of course, you can come up with a whole heap of systems like Nikon CLS, SU-4 and others - but all this, I note, is through the optical channel, i.e. only in line of sight, close and unreliable. Why not build a cheap radio syncronizer in both flash units and cameras? The mechanical diaphragm is another anachronism, but here, at least somehow, there is a little movement ...

        • Valentine

Olympus did this in 2007 with the launch of the E3 camera and the FL-36 and FL-50. They are controlled via a radio channel in a radius of 10 m (for that time it was the norm). Well, there is no mechanical diaphragm on micro 4/3. As I understand it, others do not, because they follow the standard that they adopted. Imagine a new Nikon lens with no mechanical aperture control: where will you put it, on new cameras only? With flashes about the same. And to say that mechanical diaphragm and CLS are a bad solution, my language does not turn. Normal working reliable solution.

          • Onotole

Introduced - E-series lenses (no mechanical aperture) - supported by Nikons since 2009, what other new cameras? Nevertheless, to hell with her with the diaphragm, in principle, I agree, it works and okay, except perhaps noisy, well, ok.
But with CLS - I disagree, line of sight + instability in bright light + delay in descent due to the need to send service signals + accelerated battery consumption for the same reason, etc. etc. it is quite obvious that this is a crutch. Yes, of course, if now you start equipping flashes and cameras with a built-in synchronizer - the weather will not make it all who already need to buy crutches, in the form of separate synchronization systems (money + extra weight + own batteries + one more element that will break down and tear off sooner or later shooting) but you could have started doing this already 10 or even 15 years ago!

From not zrazumіlo, navischo tsi ... announcements ??
Your site is valuable in that, why do you want to keep that test in your hands?
I report on the list of overtaxes and shortcomings.
First box, wait for the readers to eat! Shiro yaki yomu for tse!
And what about the cinnamon from the announcements? Skіlki vzhe bulo vipadkіv, if announced ... honey, but in practice appeared on the outside ....
Shanovniy Arkadiy - no announcements needed - tse on the right of advertising magazines….
    Not required….

    • Valery A.

      It’s all worthless.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Your opinion will be taken into account.

      • anonym

As for the announcements ... In my humble opinion - let's leave the right to Arkady Sh. To decide what and how to do on his website. The site "Radozhiva" about photographic equipment and the theory of photography. How does the announcement of new photographic equipment “do not fit” into this format? If, for example, Arkady would start giving announcements about the release of new women's handbags, or men's purses ... Well, then it would be somehow “informal”. That and that ... As Arkady writes - the content and maintenance of the site requires considerable financial costs ... So, dear readers - do not judge strictly. And whoever doesn't like the announcements, nobody forces you to read them. It is easier for many regular readers of "Radozhiva" to learn about the latest in the world of photography here than to scour the endless expanses of the Internet. Thanks again to Arkady for everything he does for us, experienced and novice photographers!

        • Arkady Shapoval

Everything was decided easier. The top record will be on the case, the announcements will be in the tape below. Who cares, he will come in, look, maybe speak out. Whoever is not interested can dwell on the latest material.

  • lynx

validity. A question of reliability, but validity.

  • Peter Sh.

Artificial intelligence implies self-learning, the accumulation of experience, and decision-making based on this.
For example, if suddenly a lens or camera improves the speed and accuracy of AF over time. This will be awesome!
And to calculate the flash and the angle from the ceiling via TTL, what kind of intelligence is this?

  • Jury

the commercial is beautifully shot, but when shooting with the flash back and to the ceiling, a sharp shadow can remain, you can completely remove it by taking out a white card. In the future, it is also necessary to make a drive on the card on the diffuser.

  • German10

    Arkady, thanks for the announcements!
Now about the flash: I dreamed of such a flash for a long time and waited for it! Have you seen how the latest electronic steadics work? It's easier than a steadic. And as for the sand ... Not for the street, obviously! Well, as always with Canon: new products never have 100% functionality, so they will cut something down. Where is RT radio chronization here? Will it be added in the 3rd generation, probably? Let's wait for decent Chinese clones and buy them! Success to everyone!
