The Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR is an updated version of the popular telephoto lens for Nikon DX-format cameras. It offers a 105-450mm equivalent focal length range , combining a compact design with an improved focusing mechanism and effective optical stabilization.

The lens is well-suited for both stills and video. The AF-P designation indicates the use of a pulsed stepping motor, ensuring fast, smooth, and virtually silent autofocus.

Optical design

The optical design utilizes a single extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element , effectively reducing color fringing and chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range. This preserves high detail, sharpness, and accurate color rendition in images.

Individual optical elements are coated with our proprietary Super Integrated Coating . It reduces internal reflections, flare, and stray light, delivering higher contrast and accurate color rendition when shooting in bright conditions.

Optical stabilization

The lens is equipped with a VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization system , which compensates for camera shake by up to 4 shutter speed stops . This allows for sharper images when shooting handheld, especially in low light conditions.

Autofocus and control

The AF-P autofocus system uses a stepping motor, ensuring fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus operation. This makes the lens ideal for both photography and video shooting.

The 7-blade rounded aperture creates a pleasing out-of-focus blur and allows for effective use of shallow depth of field and selective focusing.
