Overview of OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm

According provided by OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm lens. Many thanks to Andrey Golubenko.

OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm

OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm. The lens is shown on the Canon EOS DIGITAL Rebel XSi (aka Canon EOS DIGITAL 450D, aka Canon EOS Kiss X2), installation was done using an adapter Olympus OM - Canon EOS.

In short

OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm is an old lens for Olympus OM film cameras. It has a very compact size and stylish design with a chrome insert near the bayonet. Externally very similar to other shorter older lenses from OLYMPUS, such as Olympus Om-System Zuiko MC Auto-S 1: 1.4 f = 50mm.

At F / 2.0, the lens is sharp enough, with a moderate amount of chromatic aberrations, unfortunately, the picture can be overloaded with freezing (chromatic aberrations in the out-of-focus area, coloring contrast elements in purple and green). At F / 2.8 it is already confidently sharp. OLYMPUS 2/85 tolerates back and side light well, but in some situations it noticeably loses contrast and requires the use of a hood. Bokeh and color rendition are neutral, pleasant and non-intrusive.

OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm is considered a classic portrait lens (fast aperture telephoto lens) and copes well with its tasks.

OLYMPUS OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-T 1: 2 f = 85mm - fascinates with its compactness and pleasant picture. The image quality is at a good level, as for old optics. The main task of such lenses in the modern world is creative photography, for which the OLYMPUS 85/2 suits with a bang.

  • Lynx

Film oliki is one of the most awesome lenses now

    • anonym

I agree! And the price is holding on. Mama don’t cry! But they are worth it!

    • zengarden

But this one is kind of strange. Not impressed even once, without a twist.
Olympus has excellent 50s and 100s, and this ...

      • lynx

        hundreds are generally beautiful.
I restrain myself so that om-1 and a half do not buy, and I already have a hundred.
        .........
but this type of "fashion" is obtained.

  • Jury

The girl in the photo - you can't take your eyes off. Good :-)

    • Alexander

      Yes, baby is lovely))

  • Oleg

Great lens. In general, if you look in the direction of the old manual optics, then it is probably in the direction of the olives. Just two heads taller than all gelics, jupiters and kaleinars. Plus, all lenses are compact in size. 24mm Olik, for example, is a small pancake that covers a full frame and has good optical performance, similar Soviet lenses are not even nearby

  • Rodion

Gorgeous lens. Somewhat similar to the white Krasnogorsk Jupiter-9 - image neutrality and size. He can be replaced in the arsenal.

  • Igor_K

I fully support all the positive reviews about "oliki". Once I read an article that the developers of the OM-series, simply but tastefully, position it as “an inexpensive alternative to Leitz”. I think they were slightly bent, but “100mm \ 2,8”, “28mm \ 3,5” and “50mm \ 1,4” impressed me. In addition to excellent color rendition and sharpness, there is some kind of special airiness and transparency in the “OM-ovsky” picture.
The review is excellent, the lens is excellent, the model is lovely! Arcadia - RESPECT!

  • Ivan

Arkady, tell me why for a long time on the site you did not even mention the mechanical NIKKOR 85 2.0? He is, as it were, from a galaxy of mechanical film tops from the 70s from everyone's favorite filming equipment manufacturer? I do not understand…

    • Oleg

Why didn’t you mention? If you have one, why not make a review?

      • Ivan

I'm just screaming about him now !!!)))

        • Rodion

Scream further. And they could write a review and send to Arkady. They say it’s possible now, but it’s not accurate)

          • Arkady Shapoval

There are no olives, but you hold on :)

            • Ivan

              )))

          • KalekseyG

“But this is not certain” - burns young people.

            • Arkady Shapoval

              Make noiseLet's flood!

      • Ivan

And because it is also likely that no one needs my review here by default))) I love this site, and I find it useful and necessary. But here for me there are many incomprehensions. Why, for example, in the MISCELLANEOUS section, there is literally no Olikovskaya optics of the times of autofocus, which has already died 4 by 3 ??? The same whale 14-42ED which are essentially the BEST whales before the release of Nikkorov VR24, recalculated under 2mp ??? The same line of 420 520 620 cameras, which objectively, before their imminent resignation, was one step ahead of the planet for the convenience of having an already built-in camera stub of an incredible resource price (yes, ordinary plastic ones still work with a MINIMUM number of warranty failures). Why is not all this?

        • Onotole

          Why?

But you yourself, as an adult (I hope) a person, why do you think?

          • Ivan

Because I have probably not had the go-ahead until now. We are waiting with….

            • Arkady Shapoval

The rest of the users send and I post, and many do not ask - they do.

        • Arkady Shapoval

Because the representatives of Olik did not give a review, and users also did not want to. No secrets or conspiracies. Want to tell, prepare the material, I will gladly post it, what is the problem?

          • Ivan

Look I can do on 85 2.0 Nikkorushka starting and on Olympushka 14-42ED. Then just evaluate for yourself and decide whether you need a sequel ... Once again, there is everything to fill for an amateur Olik, from body to flashes and optics.
            So something like this)

            • Arkady Shapoval

Usefulness is likely to be appreciated by users. More work, less flooding.

              • Ivan

                OK ATP

        • Oleg

The review is definitely needed and will be interesting to many. With the same success, you can announce a conspiracy against Kenon: "where are the reviews: 70-200, 16-35, 17-40, 24-70 \ f4, and where are the L-fixes: 24,35,50, 85, 135mm? "

          • Ivan

Yes, yes, 70-200 is especially needed. If the site is already growing, then it is worth going beyond)))

          • Ivan

            And ATP for support)))

            • Oleg

Simply, Radozhiva is a rather huge project, which essentially rests on the enthusiasm of one person and which covers reviews from Industar-96u to, say, the top Kenonov and Nikon macroflows, also with carcasses from the simplest to the most advanced, which requires tremendous time and effort. Yes, there aren’t enough reviews of top-end lenses and cameras, but you need to understand that 70-200 \ 2.8 is not the lens that everyone has in the locker and which he just picked up and filmed the review or sent it by mail for review

              • Ivan

It's clear. Just 70-200 4 is optically the same as 2.8 and is still able to lie with all fans of the boot)

    • Arkady Shapoval

For the same reason that I did not mention millions of other lenses. He was not in my review.

      • Onotole

        Exactly

  • Ivan

It's just that general WOW about the old Olik, of course, are largely justified, but it seems to me that in general you have forgotten about your native ... The same bold film pixel is the same size as top-quality picture quality for the 70s. The same Rockwell, for example, simply screams about him - it is about him, if not strange - defining him as one of the sharpest and most balanced objectives in the history of Nicocorpe. Or is it wrong, like the on foto tests and many others? Throw a link for study?)))

    • Arkady Shapoval

Ask Kenny, I just think you won’t get an answer :)

      • Ivan

So, for my part, I can stir up about the 85 2.0 Nikkor as a new state as out of the 77gv box and walk widely across Olik about ALL of his lenses except for the PRO and TOP PRO series and the 420 520 620 camera. site content more Arkady is necessary for you. It’s like this for me - so that they don’t forget about my loved ones ... So no offense - I kind of like everything here - give the go-ahead - I’ll work on it. Everything is in stock.

        • Onotole

Already three of you, including Arkady, have given the go-ahead (quotes: “prepare the material”, “why not make a review”, “could write a review and send Arkady”) what are you still waiting for?

          • Ivan

Direct green light from the author of the project)))

            • Arkady Shapoval

              # 00FF00

              • Ivan

                Fine!!!

          • Ivan

Do not aggress) I just love my olikotech Pts and want to give it a light) Maybe you will like it if it comes to that. Decisions here are made by the author whose opinion we all here value and perceive adequately)

        • Arkady Shapoval

Write, send, you may not even ask - https://radojuva.com/2015/12/end-of-line/

  • anonym

And the Nikon system will become Olympus glass?

    • Oleg

I'm not sure exactly, but in my opinion there may be problems with "infinity"

    • Arkady Shapoval

They will, but there will be no infinity and adapters are rare. There are adapters with a lens, but they will spoil the picture + their cost is high.

      • Igor_K

You can put on Nikon without a lens, but not all. 100 \ 2,8 and 28 \ 3,5 turned out to be transplanted, but 50 \ 1,4 - no. Below is an example with 28 \ 3,5. In this regard, I often think about the Pentax or Kenon, so that the lenses are not "crippled" to use.

    • zengarden

You can replace the mount. There are instructions on the Internet. I have remade so fifty dollars.

  • Arkady Shapoval

By the way, the girl from the review was asked to choose 20 photos for processing. Seth was filming a dark hypersum Sony 24-240 and this Olyk. As a result, she chose only 2 photos from Olik, the rest from a sterile zoom. Here you have Olik :)

    • Alexander

And here everything is just natural. There photos are more colorful and the eyes of the young lady are more mysterious in color, so she is guided by this and opted for Sonya))

    • Oleg

Yes, in general, and not surprisingly. Sonya will have flowers, more contrast, the focus is accurate. Yes, and the portraits on the big focal were still successful.

    • Igor

Why did she like Sonya so much, Olik, despite the fact that the crop camera was, but still the portraits are more voluminous, 3-dash, as it were, the bokeh gives the effect of oil paints, soft tonal transitions, plasticity, and Sonya has a harsh, flat picture, too much the contrast is heaped up like for a female portrait, saturation without tenderness like Olik's, the picture is more synthetic, not tasty))) But this is my IMHO of course.

      • B. R. P.

You are talking like a photographer, right. A high-quality portrait fix, of course, gives 1000 points ahead to some kind of superzoom, which by definition cannot have such a picture. If you were a female model, maybe you would look differently)

  • Dmitriy

Arkady, I have a question about the OM-EOS adapter, which you indicated under the link “An Olympus OM - Canon EOS adapter was used for shooting (with preservation of infinity)”: Does the adapter behave normally in the camera mount / lens mount? not backlash? My adapter, bought on Ali (but in another store), is shamelessly backlash, I want to change it to a more efficient one, your application experience is interesting.

    • Arkady Shapoval

There are different, I had 2, without backlashes.

      • Dmitriy

        I see. Thanks!

  • Vladimir

Some lens is inadequate in different situations - it seemed gorgeous, then nothing ... You have to do it yourself ....
