Sample photos and image quality

The chamfers of the lenses are not blackened, which is not good when shooting in backlight. Usually self-respecting manufacturers always blacken the ends, mainly only old ones suffer from this ailment Soviet lenses. Well, at least the aperture blades are dull black.

YASHICA JAPAN AUTO YASHINON-DS 50mm 1: 1.9 moderately sharp on an open diaphragm. The lens has a characteristic bokeh, which slightly distinguishes it from other similar lenses. Adapter M42-Canon EOS does not press the diaphragm pusher, because everything was shot on F / 1.9.

How to use with modern cameras?

Lenses with mounting thread M42 (M42 X 1 / 45.5), such as the lens from this review, are very easy to use on almost any modern digital camera (both SLR and mirrorless), for this it is enough to choose the right adapter (adapter). You do not need to carry out any additional steps to modify the lens.

The cheapest adapters can be found at Aliexpress.com... There are adapters (adapters) with a chip that provide more convenience during shooting, usually chips are used to confirm focus and / or metering exposure, and form the correct EXIF. The chip does not affect the image quality in any way.

For some SLR cameras (for example, with the Nikon F-mount), you need to use adapters with a corrective lens, which allows you to focus correctly at all focusing distances. For any mirrorless cameras, such a lens is not needed, and the adapter is a simple decorated hollow metal tube with an appropriate mount.

For SLR cameras

  1. Canon: For cameras Canon EOS with bayonet mount EF / EF-S need an M42-Canon EOS adapter, such an adapter with a chip can be found herewithout chip here.

  3. PENTAX: For Pentax cameras with K mount, you need an M42-Pentax K adapter, you can buy such an adapter here.
  4. SONY/MINOLTA: For cameras with a Sony / Minolta A mount, you need the M42-Sony A adapter, you can find such an adapter without a chip at this linkwith a chip at this link.
  5. OLYMPUS/PANASONIC/LEICA: For cameras with a 4/3 bayonet mount (not to be confused with Micro 4/3!) You need an M42-4 / 3 adapter, you can buy such an adapter here.

For mirrorless cameras

  1. SONY: For cameras with 'E'/'FE' mount series SonyNEX и Sony Alpha you need an adapter M42-Sony E (aka M42-Sony Nex), you can find it at this link. An autofocus adapter is also available for these cameras. Techart PRO Leica M - Sony E Autofocus Adapterwhich can be found at this link.

  • Rodion

This is the case when Helios is better. And much.

    • Sergei

      And not the first ...

    • Konstantin

      And what is it better?

      • Rodion

Sharpness in the center will be no worse, the contrast is better - there are versions with MS enlightenment (and the usual ones are quite normal), disassembly is simple - it's easy to blacken the ends (which raises the contrast even further), the picture is more pleasant.

        • Alexey

I blackened ms world 24m, put it on S5 PRO AND TASHUSSSIS ....

      • Rodion

        However, the latter is subjective.
PS Well, you can often buy 44-2 for a song, and the result is more interesting than from this Yashinon ...

        • Konstantin

The quality of the picture "Helios" plus or minus the tram stop, and they are not famous for the beautiful "bokeh", so play around until you can take a normal half-hour. The Japanese are artistically interesting couple, not all agree, but still.

  • Sergey Aleksandrovich

EH, I offered it to you 2 years ago in the review, they did not take it. It has a very strongly emphasized edging on a variegated background, something that resembles Helios 77, but in the provided images it is hardly visible, and yes, the angles at infinity are corrected by 2.8 practically, and in helios the curvature of the field is such that by 5.6 in the corners resolution sags very noticeably "by eye". Once this Yashinon cost a penny at all and was very interesting to play with.

I’m sorry, I haven’t been here for several days, and now I don’t see the list of recent comments. Am I missing something, or is it a temporary malfunction?

I once had a YASHINON-DX 50mm 1: 1.7 ... in the early 80s, a kind of black-and-white construction (the front retractable frame was white) ... a super-quality lens in terms of its characteristics. Maybe there will be an opportunity to test it on occasion?

    Look around all the time.
Soon, songlessly, pobachno t_lki table from TX and trochi photo.
Zakordonnі smіltsі already long ago opened the transitions, so they press the tutor with diaphragms, too, with such a rank it is possible to manage it again, not to bring the notion only to "vidkritіy".
With the butts of the photo on the small diaphragms, on my dummy, meaningfully informative bullets, look around the objects.

usually a simple adapter presses, for some reason not here. As for the reviews of manual glasses - I see no reason to dissolve snot here and write canvases of text. For example, let's take this Yashinon - I have indicated the whole essence of this lens. If you are specifically interested in some subtlety on it, ask here. If something is missing (besides different F numbers) - indicate :). Again, I realized long ago that manuals do not require as much text as modern af optics. For example, take mine latest af lens review and we’ll see that all his ins and outs are painted there.

      All branches flood.

  • Alexander

Hello! And why does the link to the VKontakte group that provided the lens lead to a 404 page?

  • Novel

Unfortunately, it’s radioactive. It’s not difficult that it’s about 8 micro Rhengen per hour, but still.
Jashiki are generally all radioactive, except for zooms and wide-angle.

  • anonym

The instance is not the best. Jashika can and should be very sharp throughout the field, especially on crop. This lens is broken. Soaps on the right, a little less on the left, but also.

  • Koba

just because of the information about radioactivity in China, it is sold for $ 30-40. The Chinese are very much afraid for their health ... And in good condition, this lens gives much better quality than this really faulty copy. Personally, I did not use it, but there are good reviews on the network, they are even very praised. They say f4 is very sharp, and before that it gives excellent bokeh, open soft. Here is also a fairly detailed overview of a serviceable copy

  • Igor_K

Regarding the fact that lenses from "Yashik" must have flawless sharpness - this is just a "folk epic" from lack of information. In fact, only those lenses made by Tomioka, which in the end were also bought by Kyuosera, have a very good drawing. But, if you delve into the history of "Yashiki", you can find information that for the production of lenses, the latter bought the unknown "Zunov Optical", at the plant of which the vast majority of "Yashinons" were manufactured. Tomioka took part in setting up production, but on her lines she released no more than a dozen lenses under the Yashika brand. It is these lenses that have created the legend of the wonderful "Yashinons" pattern. All the same mass lenses from "Yashika" suffer from the sore of unblacked ends, and it is impossible to completely get rid of the whitish veil caused by parasitic reflections. As for the review referred to by "Koba", there is a different, later version of the lens, with a different coating (DSB) than (DS) from this review. For example, “classic Yashinon's sores” - and “chromatitis”, and “spherical”, and catches parasitic illumination, but the picture is still interesting in its own way (IMHO). The author of the review, as always - RESPECT!

    • Igor_K

I forgot to add, filmed on Super Yashinon-R 135 \ 2,8 camera - Canon 300D. In the photo of “Yashinon”, the unblacked ends of the lenses are clearly visible. The “proprietary chip” is clearly taken from “Meyer”, so to speak, for the “soft, romantic pattern”, but this “consistency” angers, but no one argues about preferences. The "foggy extravaganza" of the Yashinons is not suitable - we buy the "Planar" of the 8th series, or at worst "Micro - Nikkor 55 \ 2,8" and goggles (so as not to cut your eyes on the edges), and no fog!

    • koba

I reviewed the Chinese stores and you are right, I noticed that only DSB or ML versions of this lens are sold in China, that is, it is by the way other lenses or in another, better performance. Apparently the demand itself filtered the DB version.
