System selection. Summer 2015

Probably the most difficult question when choosing a modern camera is the choice of system. By system, photographers usually mean one of the brands: Nikon, Leica, Canon, Sony, Pentax, Olympus, etc. The system allows you to build up your potential. So, for example, having bought a camera, it can be supplemented with new lenses, external flashes, battery packs, memory cards, remote controls and other buns. The more developed the system, the better. Here I will express my subjective opinions on the choice of a system for a digital narrow format (crop and full frame, please do not write in the comments about any medium format Hassel, etc.) with automatic focus support.

System Selection

System Selection

Probably the most common question I am asked by ordinary people, amateur photographers and even some professionals is 'Nikon or Canon?' I have already jokingly touched on this topic. here and jokingly touched on this topic here... But it turns out that modern digital photography isn't just about Nikon and Canon. For the summer of 2015, a clear hierarchy for choosing a system has formed in my head. There is a hierarchy for two cases - when a camera / system is chosen by an amateur and a system / camera is chosen by a professional.

So if I was lover, and didn’t know which camera with interchangeable lenses I could buy, then I would be guided very, very much in choosing a system simple rule.

What system does your friend / colleague / brother / sister / uncle / aunt / dad / mom / Mamimi Samejima (girl from the poster) / teacher at the photo school / acquaintance, etc. removes, you should buy the same system.

My practice shows that this is a very wise decision, which in the future will greatly help you in your career growth. Photographers, even amateurs, support each other. It is very good when you have compatibility between your photographic equipment and that of your friends. This allows you to quickly exchange not only technology, but also experience, expands your horizons and makes your religion the system is stronger.

By the way, this spring, it just so happened, most of the weddings I shot on the lenses of my colleagues, because at the moment I just do not have a normal portrait :).

In the case of a stalemate situation, for example, when you do not have friends who have a camera, I recommend looking at the system that your favorite photographer takes. If you don’t have a favorite photographer, you can look, for example, at 500px.com, choose your favorite pet and look at what he is doing his masterpieces. If you don’t have a favorite photographer, either, or he will wipe all night long EXIF data from my masterpieces, I suggest using my subjective hierarchy for professional photography.

My subjective hierarchy of systems for digital narrow format (all kinds of mirrors / mirrorless there for crop or full frame) with support for auto focus for the summer of 2015 for bias to professional photography:

Canon # 1

Anyway, Canon is the number one system. A system that is always one step ahead. Canon is the first full-frame camera (among the competitors listed). The first full-length camera available. The first full-frame camera with adequate video recording. First autofocus system for f / 1.2 and f / 1.0 lenses. Large park of optics. Excellent system compatibility. A huge park of cameras for any photo task. Well thought out and logically correct periphery. And most importantly, it just so happened that most professional photographers shoot with Canon. Read the remaining 100500 advantages in the comments to this entry.

Nikon # 2

I have been working with Nikon for a very long time and I know all their jambs with which I constantly have to put up with. Due to the jambs and stiffness in development, Nikon is only second in 2015. But at the same time, if you grasp the essence of Nikon, then there is nothing better than this black and yellow logo! A bayonet with a very ancient history, a huge park of optics, well-thought-out peripherals, the only 'fighter' who can wipe Canon's nose :).

Sony # 3

Sony is a system with big ambitions. Sony has taken the world of photography seriously with Konica Minolta. Honestly, I really like this company. Collaboration with Carl Zeiss, full-format mirrorless cameras, full-format SLTs, the shortest flange distance of all digital cameras, extensive experience in matrix construction, a large fleet of Sony / Minolta lenses, matrix stabilization! And although I recommend it as a third alternative system, personally, if I abandoned Canon, I would simply switch to Sony. The future belongs to ideas and technologies, something that Nikon has long forgotten :(.

I did not include other manufacturers in the TOP for one important reason - the lack of full-size CZK. I believe that the crops are Pentax, Fuji, Olympus (ah, my dear Olik), Panasonic, etc. can not compete in the professional segment with the full frame of the top three.

Yes, and in fact professionals themselves know exactly what they need, what to spend money on and this my TOP for them does not matter. Only those who do not have experience working with them are eyeing systems. So, professionals who accidentally get to Radozhiva do not be offended by my TOP :).

And a small postscript. Personally, by and large, I don’t care what to shoot, you can get used to everything very quickly... I try to track myself and clearly understand that my personal habits and preferences are not yet a sign of something good or bad. Many users of this or that system are very fanatically in love with their system for one simple reason - they did not shoot for something else :). And even if they were filming, it was not enough, without understanding the essence of another system. Therefore, I can say with a great deal of truth that the opinion of many commenting here on Radozhiv, or on others forums / blogs / platforms - wrong :). Remember, important how to take pictures, and not using any photo equipment.

We share info with others. Thanks for attention. Arkady Shapoval.

  • Pupseg

But the “pentyukh” has 645! :)

    • Andrei

      you just can't read

      <<<<>>>>

  • Star boring. Igor

From time to time, since 2006, I've been trying to switch to Canon and ... it just doesn't work, but now I even got used to it :)

  • Murseg

Yes, yes, yes)) Another full shot will be filmed by the fall and the Pentaxians will turn inside out from happiness! And the 645 Z is also likely to fall in price.
Here I am honestly skeptical about the purchase, because Pentax marketers have those too)
K-5 comes out, then they added some kind of pontic to the specification and already K-5 II,
then a useless K-3 comes out and then ... bam .. suddenly .. even more useless K-3 II.
So you can’t be fooled by the new K-? Looking forward to K-? II)))

  • Murzik

Here in the morning all sorts of different Nikonians wake up ... Pentaxians and will run here in a new topic from different parts of the world)
So while we are on a new wave of discussions, I have a question for everyone.
How to completely make friends Sony Alpha 7 with Pentax full-frame optics? (with the work of AF and Paverzum)
Is it worth writing to Victor Lushnikov about the idea of creating a dandelion from K to E?
Is it possible to do this?

  • Konstantin

Arkady, by no means can I use a system for a holovar, will you really change the system ??

    • Lynx

for weddings, portraitists and fashion canon is still better suited.

      • Alexander

Arguments did not forget to add an hour? :)

        • Lynx

          not at all.

  • Alexey DV

Anyone who CAN read will see the most important thing that the Author highlighted - it is important HOW to photograph, and not with the help of what technique ...

  • Lynx

    There are very simple rules:
    1. buy what friends have.
    2. buy what lies in your hand (purrs). Other things being equal, 2 is more important than 1.

    3. Canon - for weddings, “family and children photographers”, fashion and advertising filming. Artistic and creative filming. Canon will allow you to work with old Soviet lenses without hemorrhoids, but you will have to spend money on your relatives.

    4. nikon - for reportage, sports, nature, animals, macro, artistic and creative filming. Nikon (especially carcasses with a motor) works not quite old Soviet ones, but he really has a HUGE fleet of the most varied and often penny-worthy optics, as well as a powerful flash system. You can also take nikon if you do not have much money, but you want to study and the result.

    5. for street photography, for travel, for "unusual things and carrying with you", for creative shooting without fuss with all sorts of flashes, for shooting with old rangefinder lenses - fuji mirrorless (X series) and Sony (NEX series and came to her on shift), sometimes olippus.
"Go and shoot!" - the motto of the current "professional" - mirrorless. But here it is worth noting a fairly high "entry threshold" for the cost of the system and optics. The cheap carcass of junior models is unambiguously inferior to the initial DSLRs in many respects, except for the size, and the cost of more or less intelligible models is close to the cost of professional DSLRs or FF.

    6. if there is a lot of dough and you want to stand out (as well as you already have a vayo, a Sony smartphone and a Sony toilet) - then Sony. Yes, a good dormouse costs a lot (and buy a cheap one, believe me - it's not worth it, a cheap dormouse is not a dormouse), and there are even more consumables for it.

    7. If you are an original and you want something special then Pentax.

Under any conditions, 2 is more important than 1,3,4,5,6,7, 1 is for a reference point, and money is most critical. ))

    • anonym

He indicated to everyone what to do, he pushed all his foreheads. Now, with bated breath, you are waiting for tasty sracha. Well, eat!

      • Lynx

        you have paranoia

    • varezhkin

      Separately written.

    • Alexander

Regarding “it will allow working with old Soviet lenses without hemorrhoids”: on the other hand, Nikon simply saws a huge amount of film optics such as FD, MD, OM. And FD even without flange adjustment. By the way, as a result of a recent experiment, the bayonet Jupiter-11 from Kiev also stood on Nikon without fitting with infinity. Coincidence?

      • Dmitriy

And do you have a lot of elementary “sawed” optics at hand? And if it is possible in more detail - how will an FD with a 42 mm working cut without adjusting it fit on a Nikon with a 46,5 mm RO ??? It's even more interesting about MD ...

        • Alexander

Yes. there were several. already sold out. there are two left. 60-300 s minolta and 50 1.8 s kenon fd. it’s just that the fd bayonet ring is thicker if removed, the difference in working segments is compensated. if interested alexk113@mail.ru here is my mail.

        • Alexander

          and more

          • Someone S.

Here is a clever girl! Now I know who has straight arms!

            • Alexander

Good girl, of course, that's just why this half-hitter to shit.ki. Why do these perversions if my native does it to me are not clear.

              • Alexander

the difference in price is 15 times a reason enough, but as for perversions, this is such a hobby. everything is better than plump or slot machines)))

        • Yarkiya

Sorry, the working segment of the lens with a m42 thread 45,5mm.

      • Denis

“On the other hand, a huge amount of film optics is simply sawed on Nikon” - but on Canon, a huge amount of film optics is simply put through adapters without sawing.

        • Scared

          Haha +1

        • Alexander

Everything that is put with an adapter on Kenon, recently, for some reason. has risen in price (((and such glasses are priced at the price of the adapter itself. although Kenon cameras like more - a simpler and more intuitive menu, and the grip is more convenient.

          • Denis

I don’t know, I didn’t notice any too high prices for the same M42 optics, which perfectly fits Kenon. But all that with the Nikon mount is really worth the sick money, when compared with analogues of the M42, for example.

    • Alexey

Kenon uses new AF modules and new technologies such as dual pixel.
Nikon infinitely modifies ancient modules by transferring them from a box to a box.
what is the double cross in AF in nikon for so many years do not guess :)
silent mode in Nikon to realize unrealistic. ancient impact diaphragm.
ancient mount because of which it is impossible to make high-aperture AF lenses 1.2 and better.
few people need a suitcase of lenses. in many positions, Nikon simply does not have such a choice of luxurious lenses as Kenon.
the main advantage of Nikon is the Sony and Toshiba matrices. therefore the only place where Nikon is better is for landscapes.

      • Lynx

        and what?

    • Michael

The moment when the Lynx is not trolling and says the case)
I will add from personal experience:
A distinctive feature of Canon is the color that allows you to FAST get the right skinton, which is very important for wedding planners with their large volumes of photos.
From Nikon's RAW processing experience, it takes longer.
Also, for example, from portrait lenses, Canon has a very cool and adequate price of 135 f2, which is not enough on other systems.

A distinctive feature of the carcasses of Nikon and Sony is a wide DD, in landscape shooting they tear everyone.
But Nikon's lenses are more adequate in terms of price / performance ratio.

      • Lynx

the moment when the trolls noticed the elephant in the open field. )))

    • Mark

      Hello,
BRIEF: Please, could you advise a used or new, no matter good camera (SLR) up to $ 270. If these $ 30 are very important then I can add. I am new and want to shoot landscapes and close-ups. For several years, he clapped on a smartphone all sorts of winter landscapes, sunsets, nature, occasionally some kind of macro-droplets or some kind of bug :)
Weight, size, video is not important, men need a good SLR.

  • Ivan Wolverine

switched from Canon to Nikon ... the reason for the FF Canon does not have a built-in flash ... Canon does not have a built-in processing program ... and there is still much that Canon does not have in comparison with Nikon ... although the Canon mount is more friendly with the old Soviet optics ...

    • Noa

Once I also chose between Nikon D610 and Canon 6D. The presence of a flash in the first pulled towards Nikon)

      • Scarecrow

What a horror! Change system due to built-in flash! And what about these fotiks with skinton, but what about diffraction and video? What a wildness!

        • Noa

Do not change, but choose the system initially. By the way in the internet there were a lot of battles between Nikon D610 and Kenon 6D. The first was a favorite for a number of signs.
But at the same time, I am not saying that if I would choose a system now, I would choose Nikon again.

And at the expense of the flash: sometimes you really don't want to fiddle with the outside for some “quick” photo, where it's dark

          • Andrey Kuznetsov

And the built-in flash controls external flash units in TTL without synchronizers very convenient

        • Alexander

Everything with the skinton is great, and not only with the skinton! Autosuggest yourself further, your system is better;)

    • Terromin

Fuck, shoot with the built-in puff ??? Passport photo ??? Kick-ass> _ <Either the photographers got drunk or the photographers are not at all the same ...

  • lesa

    I switched to Nikon.
Just at that time there was nothing more adequate than the D750.
    Great lenses. Adequate choice.
Now I would probably think about the Sona A7II, but it has 1 card and the ergonomics are not the same.
As a second camera, I would probably take A7s.

In general, if Sony updated the A99, I would switch to it.
And my ideal (for reasonable money) camera is D750 + SLT from Sony + rotating screen from A77.

  • Yuriy75

I chose Canon, for a trouble-free docking with manual optics. And the lack of confusion in the marking of camera models.

  • Peter Sh.

I have a friend, prof. photographer. Works with children, makes stunning production portraits.
He does not know anything about megapixels, matrices, autofocus, etc.
What kind of camera can she say only by reading what is written on it.

There you go, boys and girls.

    • Lynx

actually sclerosis is not a joke!

      • Oleg

This is not sclerosis, but a completely correct approach. In the end, we take pictures, i.e. We make a picture, and do not fumble buttons getting an orgasm. Arkady always correctly repeats: no matter what to shoot, the technique is secondary.

        • Lynx

          stupid things.

        • The Hedgehog

Since the technique is secondary, its influence on the quality of photography does not change. It is important how to shoot and it is important what to shoot with. No one advises beginners to buy Prof. level, and if for some reason someone does not want to change his old camera, then this is his own business and no one bothers him to shoot well with it.

          • Peter Sh.

Moreover, you need to know how to squeeze the maximum out of your camera. At least in order to smell over photoshop then long nights.

I am now conducting an educational program for my friend. She is extremely grateful - it turns out that many problems can be solved in advance by properly setting up the camera.

For myself, I’m getting a good lesson on how to abstract from all technological garbage, and what is the main thing in photography.

            • The Hedgehog

the inability to squeeze the maximum out of the camera is a problem that a person with any device will have, and this is not the same person who shoots masterpieces with any technique ...

        • Noa

You seem to be right when you say: we create a masterpiece photo, not a camera, but there is one thing ... With this logic, we can say that a VAZ car is like a Mercedes. And what, he is also driving and it is the driver who drives, not the car. But no, I want not only the result, but also the pleasure of the process itself.
PS But all of what I said of course is subjective)

    • Edward

Oh, it’s not necessary - he doesn’t know what he is shooting for ..
(One of the two of you is lying and showing off

      • Yarkiya

The commentator is lying stump; I’d like to see how she grabs the Nikon lens in the park, sticks it in Kenon and puts on a masterpiece. No, but what, she doesn’t care what equipment and system.

        • Peter Sh.

          Dear Arkady!
I hope you understand what harm such commentators can do to your site that can easily and with impunity offend even a woman?

          • Arkady Shapoval

            Horrible

          • Yarkiya

Peter S. You react as if this woman is you.

        • BB

I think that “the wrong lens will grab onto the parking lot” - this is not the case. I think if the person does not know / does not remember the name of the system, he does not bother changing the lens :-)
Along the way, the question is: how many photographers with the Nikon system have and carry Canon lenses (well, or vice versa)? :-)

    • Mark_KA

“What kind of camera she has can only tell by reading what is written on it.
That's it, boys and girls. "
      I didn't understand something ... So - how's that?
And where does people in general who do not know (forget) what they use?
Yes ... I understand ... “WHAT is important and HOW! And it doesn't matter WHAT! "
Fir-trees! What a depth of thought! But what does this have to do with technical aspects?
Is the technique secondary? So be it. But the conversation is about technology. Even if tertiary (quaternary or even further).
If you continue your thought - no matter what technique - as long as the person is good!
So? Why choose a system? What's the point of all these "auto devices"? ;)

      • Mark_KA

I forgot to say on the topic :)
In my opinion, everything is correctly written in the article.

    • Paveln

I also strongly believe that it does not matter which camera and which lens.
Also, I believe in the help of talismans, I always take with myself, for good luck, fast lenses fixes and, as a talisman, a good crop from Nikona.
Signs say that my talismans will show their magical properties more strongly if I get a fullframe.
Many say that this is nonsense, because it is widely known in narrow circles that there is nothing better than the complexity of the frame, the artistic grain and narrow DD will show the most important thing in the picture. But still there are still crazy people who believe that new products in technology can change something in photography.

    • Anatoly

The situation as a whole is quite typical.

Give a beginner an excellent device to any newcomer and he will take off a masterpiece in 10-15 test photos (meaning a quality photo)

Simply put - if everything depended on the photographer, and not on the technology - there would be no difference in the cost of the devices, no one would have made the transition to "higher-end cameras" and when buying a more advanced camera people would not get a cut of quality photos ...

And so I'm sure that everyone has seen how a person suffers for months with some kind of apparatus, receiving slag, then he can not stand it any longer - he buys a good camera and almost immediately gives masterpieces.

Simply put, it’s obvious that you won’t get a masterpiece on a mobile phone.

The photographer composes the frame and says WHAT to shoot
      And, of course, technology removes.

      • Paveln

Anatoly, you are wrong. Good shots are provided by a good bunch of photographer + technician. The technique will give good colors, a sharp picture (if you can then apply softening, no, back), beautiful blurring of the background, wide DD, low grain effect, high aperture ratio and a bunch of convenient chips + fast and high-quality focus.
But only a photographer: he will tell the model how to sit down correctly, choose a place, the correct cropping, stand correctly in relation to the light, do not cut joints and fill the horizon, correctly select the main object, etc. etc.

  • Passer

Canon # 1 - just take RAW from the same 5D MarkIII and turn it in the converter to understand the opposite. The same D750 is simply a monster in terms of sensitivity and dynamic range at a price 1,5 times lower and not inferior in anything to characteristics.

    • Mark ez

Here, on your advice, I took RAW from my CANON EOS 5D Mark III and “twisted” it in the converter (however, I already do this with an enviable frequency that it never ceases to please), so what I need to do next is “to understand reverse "??? )))

      • Passer

        Let's play together. Send ...;)

    • Dmitry K

Bullshit say rav with canon 5D3 wonderful. DD may be lower than that of Sony matrices, but the colors are excellent and the differences in noise are not particularly visible

      • Passer

If you pull the shadows at least 50, then the difference in noise is not visible? You have an exclusive camera, it seems. :)

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

the bride’s white dress is just a blur, and on the nikon you can see every crease

  • Bo

I use only Soviet systems, Smena, Viliya, Kiev, Zorkiy and Seagull yet. And what are megapuxels?

    • The Hedgehog

Megapuxels in the relevant topic, and here Arkady is limited to autofocus cameras, your photo park is impressive, but a little off topic. The main thing is that everything suits you and does not interfere with shooting.

    • Anatoly

The same as “grain” (or density) in your world

  • Alexander

I came to Radozhiva 1,5 years ago, anticipating the choice of a more serious and creative camera. The old Canon A3000 soap and camera has already begun to yield even to the telephone. At first I thought Pentax should take it, I really like protected devices. But, the FIRST rule worked, which was described by the user Lynx. A friend, having experience with Sony Alpha and using the A500, knocked out the purchase of the Sony A65. And very pleased with the result. For two of us it turned out an impressive park of glass (thanks to Minolta, I worked hard for fame) and other accessories, and at the right time you can have everything for any situation just by taking from a friend what you lack.

Now with confidence I can confirm the rule that you need to take what is from friends.

And it doesn't matter if it were Nikons, Kenons, Pentaxes ... all the same, you get used to everything and all of them, in their own way, are good. It's more fun together.

  • Bo

I’m also very sorry when I see how people suffer. Suffer at megapuxels.

    • The Hedgehog

Do not worry, a person is always missing something.

    • Alexander

The topic is about the system, not about dinosaurs or pixels ...
He described his own and how he came to him. He chose the system and the device not because of megapixels.

But who is missing something ...

      • Bo

Yes, what have you got to do with it? and you will answer for dinosaurs, fluderast

        • Arkady Shapoval

Comrades, take it easy. Adults after all.

          • Bo

)) Will know. For a shift-8m Medvedev would have broken it.

  • Pastor

I agree with the author completely. It is better to take Canon, and only then if the jambs are found, look for another company. Glass puff, etc. to find canon even easier than to nikon, not to mention other firms. On the other hand, it is no longer difficult to find Internet access even in a very distant village. And order everything you need on the network, and get it at the post office, which is almost everywhere.

    • Vovchan

Why do nonsense here to write all sorts! Yes, there are no problems now in terms of finding glasses, puffs and all sorts of buns for Nikon! The problem, as always, was and was the availability of funds for their purchase!
And in terms of transition from system to system, it is also not so simple! Of course, if you buy a soap dish from Kenon for $ 200, and then switch to the same soap dish from Nikon, you will not feel such a "jump" at all! It's another matter when you invest $ 5000-7000 in the system, or even more! Try to jump there :)) For the sake of some small chips, selling the system for 1/2 the price is not at all rosy! I buy serious photographic equipment - we become hostages to it !!

      • Dmitry K

In fact, there is an accessibility problem. In the secondary market for reasonable money, canon is more than Nikon (relevant for Yaroslavl). Of course, for the full price in some kind of hypermarket for the order you can buy a bald dash, but now everything is so expensive because of the dollar (((But canon is more affordable from the hands

      • Pastor

Why be so rude at once? Not nonsense, but a personal opinion based on buying and following the market in my region and in the capital. I buy at least a thousand dollars worth of photographic equipment every month, and I track all the trading platforms every 3-4 hours every day. It is extremely difficult to convince me that I am wrong - I know few people who are so closely involved in photography in my region. And I do not try to jump, I have both systems, nikon and canon. And I know for sure that there are more offers for canon (at least in Moscow and in my region). The difference is 20-30 percent with the number of Nikon's sentences. On a dormouse, in general, something appears every two or three days, on a pentax even less often. And that's why I think that despite the fact that I'm a lame photographer, I understand quite well in the photographic equipment market :) Such things, Vovchan ...

        • Arkady Shapoval

There are more such offers of Canon, I pointed out in an article that most people shoot on Canon. From this, more feedback from users and improvements to the system.

          • Someone S.

And the fact that Canon prevails in the territory of the former USSR is explained by the fact that when the so-called. “Iron Curtain”, Canon took the time to hurry up and saturate the suddenly opened new market with service centers and its dealers ... But Nikon either missed the new market or was let down by arrogance ...

if crop, then for the same price nikon will be better
and professional cameras are all good !!!

If the camera itself is to be borne in mind, considering only the photo capabilities, then yes, Nikon's DD is wider and the ISO workers are higher on the crops. But here it is worth looking back at the lenses. Nikon's cheapest telephoto 55-200vr costs the same as Canon's 55-250is, but less sharp, has a plastic mount and slower focusing. According to my feelings, the stub is also weaker. For Nikon, it is better to take 70-300 rubles at once, and he already costs under 20 thousand rubles (even used 15 thousand). and canon 55-250 used for 5-7 can be taken. A cheap fixed lens for Canon is cheaper (though not everything is perfect with autofocus, but right now a new lens with STM has come out). In general, Canon at least does not lose, and given that the d-version cannot be placed on the initial crops of Nikon, Nikon 50 1.8g will be much more expensive than Canon 50 1.8. Nikon does not have the width of a cheap crop. There are a number of old shiriks, but they are still very expensive, 20 thousand for a used one - and that is a rarity. But Canon has a new 10-18 with a stub. Excellent glass, sharp, fast, quiet and small. The new one costs 20 thousand, and the used one is much cheaper (I took it for 11). Nikon's widths are less sharp at the same apertures and focal lengths, and they are less common and cost more. In my opinion, what Nikon wins for novice amateur photographers is the availability of a cheap and very pleasant in all respects standard high-aperture fixture 35 1.8. Well, Sat-700 is better for me than the Canon 430 2, which costs the same.
Well, it should also be noted that fresh canons shoot video many times better than Nikons, which is very important for amateur use. So it’s unambiguous to say that Nikon’s crop is better, there are successful models, but the canon’s not everything is so bad :)

    this campaign is incurable

Fluderation? - curable, but drastic measures are needed.

Acradius, as it were, deliberately adds oil to the fire, creating similar themes.

They constantly ask me which system to choose. The article has an accurate and clear gradation. Use it.

  • Konstantin

DEAR site holders! It would be interesting to make an article on the topic of who switched from which system to which and wherever everyone could say the pros and cons. Only without guile and holivarov! Thanks.

From Nikon d40 I “jumped” to Fuji Pro 3 (I use it in the studio until today!), And Fujika “exchanged” for “Pyataka” ... And I use glasses from “haute couture”: Minolta \ Nikon \ Minolta ...

        Canon \ Nikon \ Minolta ...

“If you don't have a favorite photographer either, or he wipes EXIF data from his masterpiece pictures all night long” - this smiled the most! In Kaliningrad, many people choose canon because there is no service from nikon at all !!!

    • Vadim

For the fifth year I have been shooting with Nikon, and before that with a superzoom from Kodak. There is no service in my town at all for any system, which does not prevent me from thinking about this topic at all. Over the years, there has never been a need for this. My friend has a Pentax K-20, in my opinion, in general, the only copy in a 20-thousand city. A month before the end of the warranty period, his matrix flew. Through the Kiev store in which this device was bought, it was sent to the St. Petersburg service center, where the matrix was changed for him “for free - practically for nothing”. For the third year already - "normal flight".
So service in your hometown is not bad, but definitely not the main thing. You do not have a Nikon service - to hell with it. This situation can be interpreted in two ways: 1-bad that no; 2- it's good that not - Nikon doesn't break - :)

Canon, Nikon, Sony. It was in that order that I had cameras. Sony is the least in time, he decided to sell after the first walk (nex-6). Now Fujifilm, really like.
Well, I slightly disagree with the fact that other systems are not included in the article, after all, not everyone needs FF (and who needs it, they themselves know what to buy).

The only thing I miss in nikon is a skin tone like a kenon (straight from the camera), otherwise kenon loses to nikon. IMHO. The kenon, it seems to me, has only one cool 5D Mark III camera, everything else is much weaker. Even on the D3000, Nikon can get a high-quality frame without any problems. But in general, I think that there should be straight arms and everything will work out, the only question is how much time will have to be spent on the final frame.

As for skinton, I agree on Nikon, it’s terrible especially if it’s a flash, although everything is easily fixed in the DxO OpticsPro 10 editor, you don’t even have to do anything but just load the rav and voila skinton is not just commercial, but just magical. Nikon does not have a normal (commercial) profile, although this is just mathematical calculations (algorithm), and not features of the matrix or Bayer filter.

  • Murzik

You can make masterpieces on crop, of course.
As my friend, Ivan, said recently.
Among amateur photographers, there are two main types of thinking:

    1) Synthetic
    2) Verbal logical

The first I can remotely know how the camera works and do not technically understand it, but they see cool shots, catch them and later they become famous masterpieces.

And the latter know thoroughly about the debayering process, optical physics and optical defects, signals, pulses, etc. and so on ... But they get pictures, as they say "protocol")) There is no creative wave. Therefore, the main thing is not the system, but so that the arms grow from the shoulders and the brain is creatively tuned)

The first just click the shutter more, that’s all.

    • Alexander

Absolutely “in the hole”, as Fotakakis used to say ... A daughter, a student, “catches” such shots with her Nikon 3100, sometimes they take envy…

  • Artyom

Just like it! Arkady correctly described everything!

As for me, if you take something, then it should be like and bring pleasure. What difference does it make with friends or some propiary photographer bought for advertising. The main thing in the word an amateur is to love, a hobby should not become a punishment. You might think that the purpose of life is to get to the grave as quickly as possible, it’s interesting to learn to photograph, and why do you really have to rush somewhere? Childhood is a great time and it's silly to miss or run through it. IMHO

      great! take Nikon !!! 111
