According provided by teleconverter MS CONVERTER K-1 2x many thanks to Alexei Yarysh.

MS CONVERTER K-1 2x

MS CONVERTER K-1 2x

MC CONVERTER K-1 2x - Soviet converter produced by the Arsenal plant. The converter is suitable for all lenses with a M42 x 1 / 45.5 mounting thread. K-1 increases focal length lens 2 times, while the number F also doubles, respectively aperture the lens decreases by 4 times (2 stops). K-1 also supports blinking aperture device.

You will find general information about how converters work in the section 'What is a teleconverter and how does it work'.

MS CONVERTER K-1 2x

MS CONVERTER K-1 2x

K-1 solidly assembled. The converter itself does not have moving parts (except for the protrusion of the blinking diaphragm), and therefore it is rather difficult to make a flimsy design here. Outside, the K-1 has a stylized bezel ring for a comfortable grip. The converter weighs 120 grams. In the package of delivery it is completed with an original tube and a front cover. The back of the teleconverter is the bottom of the tube.

Although K-1 uses optics with multilayer enlightenment, it is a little yellow, however, less than MS Converter K-2H 2x. But coupled with yellow-green HELIOS-44-2 2/58I used with teleconverter, ultimately turns out disgusting color in photos. The converter noticeably spoils the picture from the lens, I would not use the K-1 2X MS CONVERTER without extreme need.

Source files can download from this link (17 photos in the '.ARW' format, 405 Mb). The gallery shows 'camera JPEG', pictures were taken with different values of the number F. On the camera Sony a7 I used the K-1 2x MC CONVERTER with an M42-NEX adapter without any problems.

For the times of its relevance, I think it was quite suitable and in demand :) In our time of specific low-dispersed elements, nanocrystals and other things - it is archaic and its place on a shelf in a museum of Soviet optical and mechanical production :)

  • Vladimir

Arkady, do we have a lens block on this envelope?

He just noticed that I had it somehow strangely screwed in ... and it’s impossible to unscrew even the first lens. thanks

    • Arkady Shapoval

Didn't try to promote, at first glance - no.

  • anonym

Well, not to helios to fasten converters and talk about a bad picture! We need a telephoto lens, namely a telephoto lens, and not just a telephoto lens. Only with it the converter circuit works as it should. By the way, K-1 in quality is the best in the world among threaded ones. Tsaysovsky warms less, that is, the color is slightly better, but the detail is worse.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Everything can be, but this instance shows the opposite. By the way, all the same shortcomings are manifested with a 135 mm lens, just did not add to the review.

    • Gor

complete nonsense, how to sign it under the laws of optics?

  • anonym

Maybe it seems to me, but in all the photos moire

In general, from what focal length does it make sense to use a converter? when will it give the best effect?

  • Mikola Fedorovich

    With 135mm and more.

  • Movritsio

IMHO. The camera spoils everything. The converter is nothing we can ... And nevertheless, your reviews, Arkady - super

  • Serge

One of the most popular things from the Arsenal plant in practice

  • anonym

useful page - thank you all for the information!

This teleconverter cannot be used with the Helios 44-2.58 mm or Helios 44 m4 lenses. or with any other 50mm fifty. They are usually paired with telephoto lenses with a focal length of 135mm, such as Jupiter -37 a, the longer the focal length of the lens, the more interesting the picture from the teleconverter. . for astro photo.

    • Gor

How does it work according to the laws of physics and optics? How do you imagine that? In my opinion this is utter nonsense, there are no justifications for this.

  • Vladimir

This converter will work Helius 44-2 converter K1 lensless adapter on the Nikon 7100?

  • Vladimir

    I wanted to use such a Helios 44 2 + 3 macro ring + K-1 2x + converter without a lens adapter to take a macro photo, and I have a question: will such a design work on a Niron 7100 camera?

    • Michael

It will be theoretically. Although what do you call work? What exactly should work? There will be a very dark lens with a very small MDF.

  • Vladimir

I meant work - focus, because the working segment does not coincide with the "Nikon" system.

    • Oleg

When shooting macro this does not apply. Nikon has no focus on infinity, that is, for a couple of meters you focus, and then no. In this case, you will have a small depth of field due to three macro rings into which it is hard to get, plus the lens will become even darker due to the nozzle.

  • Nicholas

Interesting article! I have a similar teleconverter. It works well together with the Rubinar 500/8 mirror-lens macro lens, and on a cropped camera (x1,5) we get a field of view angle of 1,65 degrees diagonal, the moon diameter as much as 1/3 of the frame diagonal. I used a tele-converter with various lenses, indeed, the more focal, the better.
Another good use of the teleconverter, and it does not spoil the image quality at all, installing it with a lens on the "Tourist-FL" eyepiece, you get a good telescope. If you install Helios-44 with a teleconverter, you get a telescope with a magnification of approximately x12. And Rubinar 500 + teleconverter, the result is x110 magnification!
I want to say that the USSR produced good lenses, a good teleconverter, as well as such a good achromatic macro attachment like the AL-4 ...

  • Vasya

    Thanks, Nikolay.
    I bought TAIR 3 4,5 / 300A.
Judging by your comment, the converter will do.
    Sincerely.

    • Denis

Hello. How do you like using Tair-3A with a converter? Such a lens is being mailed to me now, and I’m thinking of acquiring a converter, mainly for astro photography. Thanks in advance for your reply.

      • Rodion

It makes no sense to overclock Tair-3A with a converter - it already has powerful chromatism.

  • Andrey

    Good afternoon,
Link to archive with photos (https://cloud.mail.ru/public/3GzzEA932Dks/conv-1.rar). Could you fix it?

  • lukamor1

I used a converter with a Tair-3 lens, the distance to the subject was about 600 m

  • Dmitriy

    Tell me what's wrong?
I connected this miracle to Helios 44 m6 and everything is very soapy very well. The canon m5 carcass through the wiltrox adapter.

    • Rodion

The teleconverter degrades the quality of an already not very good lens. And K-1 - Not the best converter.
TC is appropriate to use with high-quality high-aperture optics.
