Review F = 92 1: 2 (lens from the overhead projector Lati-60 / 60M)

According provided by lens F = 92 1: 2 No. 651348 of the KOMZ plant (Kazan Optical and Mechanical Plant) many thanks to Fantom Felini.

UPDATED: more info here.

F = 92 1: 2 (lens from a slide projector Lety-60 / 60M)

F = 92 1: 2 (lens from a slide projector Lety-60 / 60M)

The lens presented in this review was taken from the Soviet overhead projector 'LETI-60' (aka 'Leti-60'), and possibly from the 'LETI-60M' (aka 'Leti-60m'). An adapter ring KP-42 / N was glued to it for mounting on Nikon cameras, while the lens itself has no mounting thread or bayonet mount. This option has a white metal back, but there are also under versions of the lens with a back that is the same black as the front (link to a completely black lens and description of the alteration).

This lens was produced in two main versions, Radozhiv already has a review of one of them - '2/92'(# 8204338).

Differences between models' F = 92 1: 2 'and'2/92':

  • Different frame of the case. Front lens'2/92'is set much deeper into the lens barrel, thus creating a kind of small hood. Also, '2/92'has a different focus ring with zebra markings.
  • Different identification marks. So, on 'F = 92 1: 2' there is a mark of the KOMZ plant, while '2/92', presumably, was produced at the LOMO plant. I want to add that there are lenses with the designation 'F-92 1: 2' and without the manufacturer's mark (see an example).
  • Different enlightenment. Version '2/92'has a pronounced orange coating of the front lens,' F = 92 1: 2 '- a pronounced lilac. However, I would like to clarify that some lenses'2/92'also had lilac enlightenment (see an example).

As a result, there are a bunch of different versions / subversions / subversions of this lens :).

What can be called a focus ring rotates 180 degrees. The front lens rotates when focusing. With such a alteration, as shown in the photographs, the lens has a clear flight of infinity, MDF is about 60 cm.

Rear lens of the lens F = 92 1: 2 from the overhead projector Leti-60 (60M)

The copy that came into my view has a slightly shabby or shabby lens enlightenment.

Enlightenment of the front lens of the lens F = 92 1: 2 from the overhead projector Lety-60 (60M)

Chamfer lenses are poorly blackened. The lens does not have an aperture device, and therefore it always shoots at full open.

F = 92 1: 2 from the overhead projector Lety-60 (60M) and the classic boring portrait portrait Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm 1: 1.8G IF SWM

F = 92 1: 2 from the overhead projector Lety-60 (60M) and a classic boring portrait Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm 1: 1.8G IF SWM

The lens is still afraid of back and side light. At the same time, it is quite sharp and has a rather interesting pattern, in fact, for the sake of which all these 'dances with a tambourine' were made in attempts to shoot with a projection lens.

Here link to the archive with the originals - 184 MB, 16 photos in .NEF format (RAW) from the camera Nikon D700. On Nikon DX cameras EGF lens will be 138mm (classic portrait focal length).

So he will give odds to many portrait painters by drawing

  • Sergey

And what a pretty milkmaid in the photo?

    • Felix

Very very, very not beautiful of you.

      • Sergey

For God's sake, forgive me if I offended anyone! I didn't want to get personal. I just like this look in girls. And this was said with sympathy. Forgive me if I did not convey my thought so well ...

You would learn to communicate, young man! It doesn’t color you at all.

    This is his girlfriend))))))

As our commander liked to say: "In the right hands, any object can become a balalaika."
Very warm shots. The alley is simply fabulous.

    • Stepan

      I always agreed with that!

    • Nick

The jade rod in the hands of a samurai sitar sings :)

And the photos from Arkady, yes, are excellent! Real Artist!

My glasses are already on their way. Soon I will try them myself.

  • Igor

Cool stuff! Did I understand correctly that there are only 2 lenses inside? For such an old and simple "device" (it is difficult to call it a lens) the picture is very pleasant.

    • Arkady Shapoval

Understood correctly, in the review of version 2/92, which are supported throughout the review links, indicates an optical design for 6 elements in 4 groups (link confirmation). At one time, due to the optical design, I even made a mistake, calling this lens' Helios' in the version review 'zebra'.

      • Sergei

Can you specify how the rear lens is on the Lety 92 1: 2 - with a larger bulge outward or inward? According to the diagram from the instructions - a large bulge of the rear lens INSIDE the lens, on my sample - OUT. Now I'm in doubt - either it was originally assembled incorrectly, or I confused it when I went through and cleaned it.

        • Iskander

I have a version of this lens without the zebra and is completely black. Marking F-92 1: 2 No. 681279 without the plant logo. I don’t know how the rear lens was originally there, but when you try to install it according to the diagram in the LETI-60M instructions (with a large bulge inward), it rests slightly against the second gluing and the spacer ring inside rattles when shaken. On the LETI-60 diagram, the rear lens generally looks symmetrical. Try to gather the larger bulge inward and shake the lens. If the spacer ring does not rattle inside, then it is assembled correctly. Although not a fact! I read somewhere that it is correct - with a large bulge outward, like the front lens. Which is logical, given that Planar, aka double Gauss, is a symmetrical lens.

  • Alexander

Bomb. Unexpectedly nice photos with such a simple lens

  • Timur

The bokeh drawing on some photos reminded me of a triplet scheme. But the contrast is clearly not triplet :)

    • Arkady Shapoval

For some reason, many attribute this lens to triplets.

  • StudioRAK

lies in the collection :) adapter has not yet been fixed :)

  • Valery

Decent glass. Thanks for the interesting review.

  • Felix

Planar diagram in explicit form :)

Draws beautifully !!! Interestingly, everything, as you wrote - versions / subversions / subversions, come with an M42 thread?

  • Andrii

Douzhe garni pictures! Clearly convey the brightness of the last warm days :) as if I had a photo of the object itself, thinking that there would be no difference, no contrast! ale yak will show the result, “dancing with a tambourine” bouly not marni!))

  • nukemall

Enlightenment is “worn out” on all F-92s I've seen. Perhaps this is due to some peculiarities of the technology ... well, or they were all once cleaned with a dirty handkerchief with cologne.
It is not so difficult to make an F-92 with a diaphragm in the presence of a lathe; Industar-51 works great as a “donor”. You can even fully cram it into the "Vega-12", there will be a super-duper-exclusive medium format lens. The main trick of turning in compliance with the optical axis is to clamp not from the outside, but from the inside (the part is put on the straight jaws of the chuck).

    • Felix

Chemical enlightenment is one of the weakest, after leaving a fingerprint over time, the fingerprint interacts with enlightenment and there enlightenment loses its color

  • Paul

This is IMHO Industar. For they were most often placed on projectors.

    • Felix

Well, what kind of nonsense, in Arcadia everywhere there are links to the previous review where it is indicated that he is a planar, a few comments ago Arkadry wrote the number of lenses and group, plus first of all, I threw off the comments of the photo that was visually disassembled of exactly that, in the review, the lens . Well, here's how you can not respect yourself so that even half do not read.

    • anonym

It was not on Projectors Industriala put. Or all sorts of aplanates, or triplets, or more complex schemes. You will not find Tessar-type lenses among them.

    • Iskander

Industars were put on enlargers, do not confuse with projectors.

  • Salavat

Wonderful!))) I indulge in such dances with bells…. pushing old Soviet medium format glasses onto modern “numbers”…. and in general, unhurried work is always a break from everyday life)

  • Zmitser

The glass is not without a twist, but rather for the enthusiast. The color rendition, of course, is lame, but in this photo - https://radojuva.com.ua/wp-content/uploads/sg/leti-60/leti-60-m-lens-92-mm-f-2-sample-11.jpg straight kakosy under the 80s in color. Blows illustration from an old magazine

  • Igor

There is a LOMO version black, with lilac enlightenment and blackening of the ends. I liked the color rendition, sharpness, pattern.
Made a nozzle: 14 blade diaphragm with a hood and a ring for 52 mm filters. Optically, this is certainly not right: place the aperture on the front lens, but it works: the sharpness increases, the depth of field also. She did it for the Cyclops 85, f1.5 (because there is a bit much marriage so far on it), but it will be possible, if necessary, to cling to this.

  • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

Cyprus looks great in the pictures of Arkady, if you give him the bottom of the bottle and there probably will work out.

    • anonym

Do not dampen Arkady. The growth portrait is unsuccessful, but the waist one with hands on the neck is really good.

      • R'RёS,R ° F "RёR№

I think few have achieved this result with this lens.

  • Arthur Yazubets

I have been using this projector for a long time!
In terms of drawing, he is just super! Portraits come out with a bang! If interested - I can throw links to VK

  • Peter the Great

so projection glasses should be used backwards, the light goes back to front and not vice versa

    • Arkady Shapoval

For shooting, they are used in their normal position.

  • Peter the Great

in connection with the blackouts, with the help of a flashlight there was time to test, and the projection on the wall is much clearer and more beautiful if, on the contrary, it is very clear and without ha and sa

  • First Oleg

about projector glasses - there the light fries from the inside, and it is put to receive light from the side from which it comes out on the projector, is this normal?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Think about it yourself :)

      • Iskander

That's right, Peter the First and the First Oleg say. I once wrote about this in the review of the I96U photo magnifying lens. Both lenses are projection lenses and are designed for the opposite path to that shown here. Correctly put them the other way around, with a large lens to the matrix. But no one can argue with this reasoned, they just grin :-) Arkady, it is better to repeat Oleg's experiment.

      • Iskander

        ... and Peter the Great.

    • anonym

In 92, in the absence of equipment, he shot an advertising poster for one of the Lyubitel plant. On orvochrome ut18. Developed slides with a 36-degree hex developer. So that the temperature does not change, the column was activated. And they took it! You can look at iskander_ulumbekov_0394 Why am I: until you take it off, you won't understand. And only Mr. Stern in Kazan could actually shoot. Once, on a dare, he took off an empty tin can, and developed the film also blindly, covering the tank of his coat. And you are talking about Nikon! That's who you need to talk about! (I'm kidding, of course).

  • First Oleg

Well, the light goes from the projector to the rear lens, forms a high-quality image on the wall, there is a canvas. and if you turn it over, you get some kind of picture, too, but not so clear.
