According provided by lens Tokina AT-X SD 100-300mm 1: 4 N / AI for Nikon many thanks to Oleg Vinichenko. And also the store gave me this model again ProFotoSalewhere you can find many new and used lenses for different systems, including Similar Lenses for Nikon.
Tokina AT-X SD 100-300mm 1: 4 - manual zoom, produced from 1985 to 1995 for various camera systems. This review presents a model for Nikon cameras, which is Ai-s compatible. Subsequently replaced by Tokina AT-X AF 100-300mm 1: 4 Internal Focus.
Tokina AT-X SD 100-300mm 1: 4 weighs almost 1300 grams and has a very reliable design. There is a non-removable tripod foot on the body, which can rotate freely around the lens and be fixed with a special clip. There are three marks on the case, by which you can quickly set the tripod foot for shooting in strictly vertical or horizontal mode. Also, a metal lens hood comes with the lens, which is screwed into the thread of the front filter, and it can also be installed with the back for transportation (a rarity for such metal lens hoods).
The Tokina AT-X SD 100-300mm 1: 4 features the old 'Push-Pull' design. The lens has only one very wide and rubberized ring for focusing and changing the focal length. in order to change focal length, pull the front of the lens “towards you” or push “away from you”. At the same time, this is an 'invalid push-pull', i.e. when the ring is moved away from the camera, it has the smallest focal length, and vice versa. When you change the focal length, the lens length does not change.
UPDATE appearance
Separate gallery with high definition lens appearance:
Unfortunately, the lens constantly spontaneously changes the focal length under its own weight (the ring slides up and down). In addition, when changing the focal length and when focusing, the rear lens remains stationary.
The focus ring rotates 180 degrees, while the front lens also rotates, and the trunk of the lens is noticeably lengthened. The lens uses 77 mm large diameter filters and a 7-blade aperture. Aperture closes to F / 32, and a maximum 1: 4 relative aperture is available over the entire range of focal lengths.
On the body there is a scale for focusing distance in meters and feet. The minimum focusing distance is 2 meters. There is a depth of field scale for F / 11, 22, 32 and a red 'R' mark for correcting focusing in the IR spectrum. Focal lengths are indicated for 100, 135, 200 and 300 mm only.
A lens in which the aperture ring is spontaneously pulled by the camera's rheostat to f / 4 came into my review, it is extremely inconvenient to shoot at apertures other than f / 4, since you have to additionally hold the aperture ring in the desired position. In this case, the aperture ring moves smoothly, without setting fixed values. The camera “does not understand” intermediate values and sometimes creates images with incorrect exposure due to the intermediate value of the F-number.

Tokina AT-X SD 100-300mm 1: 4 and Nikon ED AF Nikkor 80-200mm 1: 2.8D (MKII)
At F / 4, the lens is rather weak, especially after 135 mm, primarily due to spherical aberrations. If you cover the aperture to F / 5.6-8.0, then everything returns to normal. At 100 mm, you can safely shoot on F / 4.0. In my opinion, the lens has a good picture.

The Tokina AT-X SD 100-300mm 1: 4 is a generally pleasant lens, I am attracted by the ability to shoot at 300 mm focal length at f / 4.0 aperture. It's a shame, of course, that a fully open aperture isn't particularly usable.

I congratulate you on the anniversary comment)))))! as always, everything is extremely clear and interesting))
post)) (and I called it a comment ..))
Very nice picture)
yeah, "warm lamp" :)
We lost the ball when disassembling the lens, you need to use the lens on cameras without a rheostat, then it is easier to set the aperture and keep your fingers away from it, during shooting :) Thanks for the review, Arkady.
my congratulations, successful continuation !!!!
Hakuna Matata Ark. Happy Anniversary ... .. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!! Thank you for all the tests and efforts, for all the time spent, for being tolerant of our reviews (sometimes). P.S. Good luck in all your endeavors ...
Arkady, thank you for your work and work. Your blog is the best !!!
Arkady, happy anniversary!
Every day of God I go to your site, this is a tradition, I would say a ritual))
Fertility (literally and figuratively) and all sorts of luck!
Even so often I don’t visit my site :)
There are many of us. Create for the joy of us! :)
yes a lot, join !!)))
oh, again this girl with pigeons ..;)
My favorite model :) always smiles, rejoices, runs, drives and asks to show photos and never asks to delete them. Gives pigeons and flowers, she doesn’t need to photoshop, she doesn’t need to ask anything to be done, just sit down and wait a couple of minutes. She does not call 10 times a day and does not ask for a photo, she generally does not need photos! By the way, I already printed one small photo magazine with her photos :) as a result, she became the star of the playground.
An ode to the “right” top model :)
Congratulations on the 1000th record! And so that you do not run out of source of inspiration!
And in the 5th photo, finally the denouement of events. :) Today, by the way, I regretted the lack of a camera with me. The dove trolls the cat. Three times allowed to jump distance and three times flew off just a couple of meters. But the cat in the jump was magnificent, until the bird a couple of centimeters remained each time.
Was the shooting without a hood? Maybe the drop in sharpness is due to side light?
It has nothing to do with it.
Thank you, Arkady, for your work. And I will join in congratulations on the thousandth leet!
I continue to read you with great pleasure.
Inspiration and good optics: 3
Thank you, and who is on your ava?

I congratulate Arkady.
Thanks so much for the work! I always study all your articles with interest and have learned a lot.
The author thanked 999 articles for the attention of Radozhivka's readers with the legendary phrase: “Thank you for your attention. Arkady Shapoval. " Today this phrase is gone ... But life goes on :) Thank you Ark and my congratulations on the anniversary release.
Wow, this drama.
Have you ever thanked through social networks ...? is not a fact …
And you ask Arch :)
Ark? Very respectful with such a nickname on your part, as a sidekick….
Well, DEN is one of Radozhiva's “regular” employees, he can, and the details are here https://radojuva.com.ua/about-radojuva/
sorry, I'm silent
He knows better.
Nice kids :)
Why the examples do not indicate the focal length of the image?
This is a manual lens without microprocessor contacts and I’m just too lazy to go into the camera menu and set the focal length every time, all the more, as indicated in the review, there are only 4 values on the focal length scale, and it is hardly possible to determine the exact intermediate value by eye. Even if I were not too lazy to poke around in the menu, or, for example, I would shoot on the Nikon D200, where you can configure the function key to change the parameters of AI, AI-S lenses, during live shooting you constantly change the focal length and keep track of it would be extremely difficult. If we take a camera without aperture rheostats, then the focal length and shutter speed would have to be simply written to a piece of paper, for me it is extremely tiring.
writing on a piece of paper is not just tedious, but unrealistic. I deleted some photo from the ones written on the sheet - the order of the records was violated, all efforts flew into the abyss :)
But how much does such a lens cost?
I join in the congratulations! I am reading…. reading ...
As a regular reader and admirer, congratulations on this anniversary article! Thank you for your work, I wish you all the light and inspiration. Any glass is in your hands - a professional lens. Thank you again!
Nikon introduced the D750. Those who hoped to get a replacement D700 cry and swear.
Sadness and sadness!
where there is a sensible and complete review of the D750, I want to know the reason for swearing with tears.
there is such a comparison - there the reasons are visible :)
http://www.cameraegg.org/nikon-d750-vs-d700-vs-d810-vs-d610-specs-comparison/
Reason for swearing: lack of replacement of the D700!
+1
And tomorrow 6D is coming to me! I will be retrained after the D300.
“At the same time, this is a 'wrong push-pull', i.e. when the ring is moved away from the camera, it has the greatest focal length, and vice versa ”- but in my opinion, on the contrary, when the ring is moved away from the camera, the FD is minimal.
Fixed
I did not find it on the site, and on the Internet there is practically nothing for the Tokina AT-X 35-200 mm f / 3.5-4.5. Maybe you already have some kind of information about this lens?
the fact that the focal length selection piston constantly falls, so under the rubber, there should be screws that can be adjusted, they press the suede ring that is pressed to the body, the same system is used on the vivitar 70-210, nikon 35-70, nikon 80-200. At
Good health, Arkady! Constantly with interest I look through your always detailed articles and comments. Faced with a situation where an old, but very good TOKINA AT-X AF 400 mm f / 5.6 lens works safely with my D300S, but the D5300 and D5100 screwdrivers simply don’t see it (!). Naturally, when mounted on them, the lens was properly apertured to f1 / 32.
The question arises, why? Is this a Trouble for Tokina itself, which, although not of its first youth, works perfectly well on the D300S, or is there some other solution?
Tokina at-x sd 150-500 mm f5.6, can you say something about this thing? It is not expensive to sell, but there is no information about it.
