Overview of the Yongnuo Digital YN-622N Radio Synchronizer

Yongnuo manufactured the Yongnuo YN-622N synchronizer, which consisted of two modules. Each Yongnuo YN-622N module was a transceiver, i.e. at the same time could be both a receiver and a transmitter. Actually, everything would be fine, but the synchronizer had few options and configuration options, because the additional Yongnuo YN-622N- module was releasedTX, which can interact with the old YN-622N module, has many settings and can be quickly accessed using a large convenient display with backlight. However, at the same time, it performs the functions of only a transmitter (controller).

First of all, I want to clarify that for working with the Yongnuo Digital YN-622N-TX i-TTL Wireless Flash Controller You must use at least one Yongnuo Digital YN-622N i-TTL Wireless Flash Module Trigger transceiver.

YN-622N-TX is well-made, powered, like YN-622N, from 2 AA batteries, has a leg with fasteners, a PC connector for synchronization (input), a USB port for updating software and a connector for a special sync cable.

Of course, the main advantage of the YN-622N-TX is the remote control of external flashes with the automatic i-TTL mode, while the high-speed sync mode is supported and you can shoot at shutter speeds up to 1/8000 s. To do this, just install the Nikon SpeedLight on the YN-622N and select the TTL (or TTL + FP) mode.

It is stated that the YN-622N-TX supports Super Sync (SS), which allows the use of short excerpts (shorter excerpts sync) with cameras that do not have Nikon FP mode. I do not have a similar camera and I could not verify this function. If you have experience using YN-622N-TX on younger Nikon cameras, feel free to unsubscribe in the comments.

As befits a good radio synchronizer, using the YN-622N-TX and YN-622N, you can remotely release the shutter, the main thing is to find the right cable for your camera.

YN-622N-TX supports operation with three groups of flashes; for each group, you can set the operation mode: TTL, M (with the choice of manual pulse power) and SS. In TTL mode, an additional power correction of + - 3 ev can be made in increments of 1/3 ev, separately for each group. Everything else supports as many as 7 communication channels. The flash zoom position can be individually adjusted for each group of flashes. The zoom can be automatically adjusted depending on the focal length of the lens, and can be set manually from 24 to 200 mm. You can also turn on the auxiliary focus illumination, and when turned off, the radio synchronizer saves all settings.

In addition, the YN-622N-TX transmits ISO and aperture values and has a battery indicator.

When I installed the YN-622N-TX on a Canon camera, I was able to set the Nikon external flash on fire. SB-900True, for this you need the flash itself, installed on the YN-622N transceiver, to switch to manual mode. Also, unlike the YN-622N, the YN-622N-TX does not have a hot shoe for installing another flash on it.

When working in automatic modes, everything works very well, it is a pity, I did not have the opportunity to check the YN-622N-TX when working with several groups of flashes, as this requires another receiver of the YN-622N type. It was a little surprising that when working with a manual power level, the flash gives a test pulse, most likely this is due to the fact that the flash installed on the YN-622N is in TTL mode. Personally, I really liked the YN-622N-TX in conjunction with the YN-622N :)

The cheapest is to buy Yongnuo synchronizers on aliexpress.

Results

Yongnuo Digital YN-622N-TX is an excellent flash sync device for Nikon, fully compatible with Yongnuo YN-622N transceiver.

I’ve broken my head for what the SS mode is needed, on my camera that supports high-speed synchronization this mode is not needed. Thank you. The only thing I couldn’t figure out when managing with TX the information on the flash screen did not reflect the transition from TTL to manual, although in work this transition has been carried out. Flash YN568EX.

  • YN-622N-TX backlight

The YN-622N-TX synchronizer with firmware versions 1.05 and 1.06 does not have IR illumination by the autofocus grid. Only the lamp on the camera itself works. Synchronizers YN-622N shine with an infrared mesh without troubles.

  • Alexander

Hello everybody! Maybe I'll find the truth here. These TTL synchronizers, so to speak, do I really work in TTL or is it still CMD? I have all the D7100 and D750 cameras (it’s generally a separate conversation because they don’t support it) define YN622N-TX and YN622Nll as unknown garbage via CMD. At the same time, as it should without synchronizers in CMD mode, everything works fine. Everything is tolerable on the D7100, but with the D750, a full ambush is blown through the synchronizers to overexposure (Correction does not help) Only the manual mode is adequate. Attached a picture, there D7100 with YN622N-TX

    • anonym

And if in the camera when choosing a flash, choose TTL, and not CMD?
It will be necessary to control external flashes not from the camera, but from the YN-622N-TX panel.

  • Ivan

I got an incident with the second version of YN-622N-ii, I had to buy the first one.
The sb400 flash did not work. I had to buy a YN-622N synchronizer for this flash.
As a result, YN-622N is one piece plus YN-622N-ii -2 pieces.

    • Dmitriy

Ivan, and on which camera did you use the sb-400 with 622n ii? I want to take the version 622n ii for the same flash, but now I'm thinking.

  • oGo

When I change the power, I do not have a probe pulse ...
    Not 700 not 910 flashes

  • anonym

my d600 does not see a trigger (What can I do?

  • Alexander

Hello everyone. Has anyone used the Meike MK-950 for Nikon flash? there is no information on the Internet at all

  • Svyatomir

Nikonovody! In AF-C mode, the autofocus backlight does not work even when AF-ILL is turned on on the 622 commandere, if the 622 receiver is used as a transmitter, then it also does not work in AF-C. Then only AF-A and AF-S to help you, there are all cheeky farts)

    • without

It does not work, and should not. The built-in autofocus backlight also does not work in this mode.

  • anonym

Is it possible to use only one YN-622N-TX for the YN-560III flash?

  • Dmitriy

Friends, tell me how to use this device to set fire to a studio flash

  • without

After a year of operation, the autofocus backlight died, did not go out, but began to shine weaker and weaker, and ceased to cope with its task. I wonder if it is possible to buy such a spare part?

  • scif

but I did not understand something - I have a different configuration. 2 transceivers (no LCD) but no controller. how so ???

  • mx45

Scif you just have two yn622 synchronizers, not yn622 + yn622-TX.

  • Michael

I tested it on d40. It works up to 1/500 sec. The bad thing is that in the article I did not find a description of the purpose of the main buttons of the synchronizer.

  • Dmitriy

Hi everyone, tell me who knows, YN-622N has 2 pieces of sat 910 camera 750 Nikon, what kind of gnu flash can I use with YN-622N using current 1 YN-622N (are there any puffs with built-in synchronizers? But in this flash the YN- 622N) I plan it for backlighting.

  • Then

Do these synchronizers work with Triopo flashes?
    Who tried to unsubscribe.

    • Gennady

I have two Triopo TR-586EX and TR-982II flashes. Flashes in my opinion do not differ from each other. At first I used a set of synchronizers YN622N-TX + YN622N. I set fire to the first flash through the synchronizer, and the second in the light trap from the first. At the same time, it was not convenient that the second flash could only work in manual mode and it was necessary to approach it for correction. And even if he was shooting in the street not in complete darkness, the second flash might not work, I had to put it closer to the first. I bought another YN622N II. Now both flashes work through synchronizers, it is possible in i-TTL, it is possible in manual mode, you can remotely make corrections with YN622N-TX. In the second version of the synchronizer YN622N added: compatibility with the transmitter Yongnuo YN560-TX; the ability to independently update the firmware; new fixing clip; mode switch 622/603-RX.

  • Marina

Arkady, tell me, pzhl, can I use radio synchronizers for the Yongnuo YN568EX flash for Nikon? For example, in order to have a radio transmitter installed on the camera instead of the built-in flash for working with remote flash units. My camera is Nikon D 3300. If so, which model should I purchase? I myself could not figure it out. Thank you

  • anonym

How is flash compensation adjusted in the Nikon d3100 with sb-400 in the camera menu or in yongnuo 622n?

  • Alexey

There is an old Nikon D50, there is a brand new Speedlite YN968n. What to attach to the mountains. camera shoe so that the flash is ignited remotely and the internal flash is “silent”?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      Synchronizer only

      • Alexey

        Tell me: which one?

  • anonym

There is a yn622n-tx transmitter and a yn685 flash, today I tried it for the first time, after 10 minutes of shooting it began to fire very rarely, the batteries are charged and it recharges, but there is no signal from the transmitter, the distance was no more than 5 meters! What could be? Marriage? In the transmitter there are akoms of 1.2 volts each, they were charged

  • Bigmc

I purchased a Yongnuo 968N flash this year to cover my setup of flashes (two manual YN560-4 flashes with YN560-TX and Nikon SB-700) for work at weddings, banquets and photosets, and a couple of YN622N II and YN622- TX. A little later, I added another 622 first-generation synchronizer (on sale) to set fire to manual flashes with a “sandwich” with 560-TX (you control their power from the 560-TX, and TTL - from the 622-TX on the camera) when you need it at a banquet all four. I'm not overjoyed! If you get your hands on such shooting and understand what and where to put, with what power to shine, you become almost omnipotent. ;)) The autofocus illumination on triggers helps a lot, especially in the dark, when Nikon's built-in camera illumination does not help either. I am very pleased with the ability to quickly visually make adjustments to the power and change the zoom of the flashes - this saves a lot of time and nerves. I also got tired of running on photosets to all the flashes on the racks in turn, changing the power and hoping that they will still work on the light trap.

They work well with native Yang outbreaks, there are gaps if the batteries on the outbreaks are almost dead. With the Nikon SB-700, when connecting the YN622n (as you put the flash in TTL mode, do not touch anything on it anymore) with the YN622-TX, you can control it and make adjustments to the power only in TTL mode, you can’t remotely transfer it to the manual. But if you manually set the power on the Nikon flash itself, then its synchronizer will set fire to everything.

I am very pleased with these synchronizers, it is a pity that Yongnuo does not yet have a universal transmitter like Godox XPro.

    • Ruslan

      Good day.
a question . There is YN968 / under it I purchased 622n-2. but I just can’t set up the manual mode on the flash. TTL works all the rules, does not want to switch to M. really need to buy 622 tx?

    • BB

YN560-TX-PRO came out this summer - Judging by the description, it will replace YN560-TX (II) and YN-622N-TX

  • Bigmc

By the way, these synchronizers work with studio flashes, set fire to them, but the power on my very cheap flash system still needs to be controlled manually, naturally.

  • anonym

On the Internet it is very difficult to find a compatibility table for flashes and Yanno synchronizers.
I once found, but now I could not find the current list of compatible flashes with the 622nd system with built-in radio modules (so as not to connect the Yanno transceivers to the flashes).
It would be great to see this info in the review update.

  • Paul

Gentlemen, who will tell you the YN-622N-TX i-TTL can set fire to the flashes that are installed on the YONGNUO rf-603ii N3 or 605th?
And then I ordered myself only the YN-622N-TX i-TTL to launch the YN968N, and now I am considering options for expanding the light circuit and do not choose budget options for puff + synchronizers.

    • anonym

Sync cable from 622-tx to 603.

  • Artem

Colleagues, do I understand correctly that with the help of YN-622N-TX I can completely close the issue of synchronizing Nikon D7200 with Yongnuo 968N? Plus for the future, if I still take Yongnuo 968N ...
