Porst weitwinkel MC 1: 2.8 28mm auto F review

Porst weitwinkel MC 1: 2.8 28mm auto F - old manual fix. A copy with Nikon F mount came to my review, Non-ai type, no auto iris (no 'skip'). Unlike native lenses Non AI - it does not require rework for use on Nikon cameras, however, the value aperture does not transmit to the camera. I used Porst weitwinkel MC 1: 2.8 28mm auto F on a Canon EOS 5D camera with Nikon F adapter - Canon EOS.

The lens that came into my view has a bent metal thread for the front light filter. Porst weitwinkel MC 1: 2.8 28mm auto F is well made ('made in Japan'), the focusing ring is rubberized and rotates 270 degrees. The front lens does not rotate when focusing. The lens has marks for focusing distance and depth of field. The MDF is 35 cm. The aperture consists of 6 blades and closes up to F / 22. The front filter diameter is 58 mm.

At an open aperture, the lens showed itself extremely weak - poor sharpness and strong aberrations, although when the aperture is closed, the situation changes slightly for the better. Lens Option Porst Super-weitwinkel 1: 2,8 / 28mm auto H I liked it more.

I had a Porst WW 2.8 28 on m42. I took a picture on my boot 600. The enlightenment was erased from the front lens completely. And so I completely agree with this article. Not very sharp and not contrasting ... I caught hares very much.

probably it was yours, I gave a very bad picture

  • Oleg

and if the front lens rotates, can you put a polarik on this?

    • Sandy

It is possible, but after each focusing it will have to be rotated, you can forget about the speed of shooting :)

      • Oleg

and if on the back? :)

  • Ivan

Good afternoon Arkady. Thanks for the great work. Really like your site. One question. Recently, the lenses originally designed for Nikon you use on Kenon through an adapter. Are you running a new 5d or is there another reason? I understand that the quality of the lens system (Kenon, Nikon, etc.) will not improve or spoil. But still.

    • anonym

So full-frame is only 5d)) nikonas from arkady cropped

      • serega

        But what about the d700?

        • anonym

          this is working))

  • Ivan

Sorry for the stupid question (to anonymous)). Worker so what? The technique was created to work. No need to make an idol from the camera and blow dust particles off it. How much is destined, so much will work. Well, after repair and again in battle. I think Arkady will agree, his D700 is a clear proof of my words.

  • Dmitry K

mm, the anonym is me .. it’s bad that I did not subscribe, I apologize. I don’t know what principle of distribution of technology Arkady has, but the fact is that with the d700 the photos are only wedding and he said that the d700 is working, and the money for 5d was collected just for reviews. It may well turn out that the d700 is not his own, but bought by the company or with someone on shares for work and using it for review is simply inconvenient or incorrect. The truth will be revealed to us only by Arkady himself, where is he by the way? )))

I am always amazed at what nonsense the dog crawls into people's heads. For an example, at least look at the previous review. https://radojuva.com.ua/2014/04/nikon-af-28-80mm-3-3-5-6g/ and do not invent too much.

      • anonym

The Chetatiles are building theories and conspiracies :)

      • Dmitry K

I apologize for the speculation, but this nonsense somehow answered Ivan’s question)) then the question hung in the air — why is the lens tested on canon if there is a nikon?

        • Arkady Shapoval

Functionally, it makes no difference what to test this lens on. Before that, I tested many Nikon lenses without a jumping aperture at 350d, and no questions arose :) The recent Auto Super-Lentar 1: 2.8 f = 35mm worked for Canon for a simple reason - Nikon with such a lens does not measure exposure at closed apertures ... If the question still concerns the canon-nikon confrontation, then I think it's just personal hostility to one of the user systems of the other :)

          • Dmitry K

Yes, it’s not a matter of dislike, but a misunderstanding “why is this?” but with 350d and so it is clear - it is cropped and does not reveal all the charm of ff lenses - that's why the whole world collected money for 5d))
Well, since such a booze went with the choice of systems. What would you take for weddings now if (God forbid) your d700 is covered and why? and finally, what would they take if your budget was unlimited? suddenly you are secretly dreaming of Hasselblad))))

            • Arkady Shapoval

              The usual wedding set - Canon 1DX / Nikon D4s + 24-70 / 2.8 + 70-200 / 2.8, is enough for everything you can. I'm pretty pragmatic in my desires.

              • anonym

Why not the D800E and Canon 5D Mark 3? and fixes?

              • Arkady Shapoval

Because these are my desires, the question is about them :) Seriously, the specified cameras are of a lower class, I see no reason to stay in the same class of cameras after the d700. I think that growth is needed, even if it is the old Nikon D3. As for the fixes - at the moment, their advantages are not in demand in my photography.

              • anonym

                Thank you!

            • Novel

How do you imagine a wedding shoot at Hassel?

              • Arkady Shapoval

I can’t imagine, for I have not yet reached Hassel.

  • THE

Calm down! The review is not about choosing an Author!

    • anonym

come on, once and for all the author had the opportunity to talk more dynamically)) moreover, the lens is not a fountain

      • Arkady Shapoval

Yes, the lens is not a fountain, and the weather does not have any weather for new reviews.

  • Exhausted

Well, since there’s time. Lord, does anyone really think that Hasselblad or Lake should be used for wedding photography, but is there already not enough of a full format?)) I didn’t mean Prince William’s wedding, of course.))

    • Dmitry K

Yes, no, they asked about Hassel how about a dream))) for yourself, I mean .. so it’s clear that they can’t shoot the dynamics ..

  • Nick

But refer to the wild "hares" that my sample caught http://vk.com/photo47485054_302517026

  • Zmitser

Well I do not know. Either the review is quite stingy, or I'm used to finding good in everything, but the photo with nuts and seeds fascinated me. Strange magic or volume - I don't know.

    • Arkady Shapoval

I see no reason to sing praises to this lens :)

      • Exhausted.

This is the moment of truth. The dithyrambs are not for the lens, but for the author. I would have removed the data of the camera and lens when publishing, so that they could judge the picture as such.

  • Zmitser

I would like to see in the near future a review of this glass - Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 50 V 2.9
And ideally, compare these fifty-trioplanes with V and without V enlightenment
unfortunately I can’t provide Arkady myself. I'm just going to buy one, and I live in Belarus

  • Simon

It's strange ... I looked through the pictures with this lens several times, they say that it is bad, but I see every leaf, every twig and all the little things are visible ... the color is calm, not flashy like in life, if you need to add a little saturation, you can add soap, there is no soap ... why such attacks against this lens?
