Review Auto Super-Lentar 1: 2.8 f = 35mm

The Auto Super-Lentar 1: 2.8 f = 35mm is an old manual focus film lens produced for various systems in the seventies and eighties. A copy with Nikon F mount came to my review, Non-ai type. Unlike native lenses Non AI - does not require modification for use on Nikon cameras, however, it does not transmit the aperture value to the camera, therefore, it is still better to carry out Ai-conversion for it. I used Auto Super-Lentar 1: 2.8 f = 35mm on a Canon EOS 5D camera with adapter Nikon F - Canon EOS.

Lentar is one of the lens distributors based in America. Most likely, the same lens can be found under other names.

The build quality is good. The focusing ring is metal and smoothly rotates 200 degrees, while the front lens does not rotate, and the lens trunk is slightly lengthened. When closing the aperture from F / 4 to F / 11, the blades form a jagged opening. At F / 11 and F / 16, the aperture on the review specimen is fairly asymmetrical, but not jagged.

The lens is pretty good - good sharpness in the center at all F-numbers, but at wide apertures the corners and edges are very weak. In the examples, notice the bokeh of the lens. The Super-Lentar 1: 2.8 f = 35mm catches glare, but the contrast loss in backlight and sidelight is negligible.

I also have a Super-Lentar 1:2.8 f=28mm lens that I bought with a Minolta XD5 at a yard sale for 35.00, the Minolta has the original lens and have attached the Super-Lentar to my Mamiya/Sekor 1000 with a adapter will be trying out both cameras as soon as I buy a new battery for the Minolta.
The mamiya I have had since I was 18, now I'm 75 and still using it, also have a Canon AE1 program which I love to death!!
