Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8 review

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8 review

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8 (MKI) is an earlier version Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8D (MKII). Lenses look alike like two drops of water:

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8 - first and second version

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8 - first and second versions

The difference between the models:

  1. The MKI version was produced from 1989 to 1993, and the MKII version from 1993 to 2008. Both lenses were designed for use on film cameras.
  2. The MKI version does not transmit information about the focusing distance to the camera and is Non-d lens. This is the key difference that cannot be seen in normal shooting conditions (without using the flash in TTL mode).

The instance that I visited in the review has a slight breakdown. After the diaphragm pusher closes the diaphragm to the set value, the aperture blades themselves close with a significant delay, sometimes spending up to one second on this. All this affects the fact that the shooting does not take place on the selected value of the number F, as a result, huge errors appear in exposure. In fact, normally such a lens can only work on a fully open aperture. Such delays in the operation of the diaphragm occur every other time and are most problematic when working at large values of F.

Arkady, thanks for the reviews, tell me, is the black screw on the lens bayonet ring the norm or traces of interference?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      I can’t answer exactly.

    • Ivan

It is also written: “The copy that I have been reviewing has a slight breakdown. After the diaphragm pusher closes the diaphragm to the set value, the diaphragm blades themselves close with a significant delay, ……… .. ”There are traces of interference in the form of a black screw on the bayonet ring. I reviewed all my Nikkor 50, 85, 135, 24-70 lenses, I didn't find any black screws!

Arkady, but on the first and third photo with pencils and on the dollar are not typos? Aperture F51, F57, F40?

    • Arkady Shapoval

      No, not typos.

Read the Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm 1: 2.8D review and you'll understand :)

I read it, noticed that I missed this fact, I apologize. But then explain to me the physics of this phenomenon. Does the diaphragm actually close to the “sewing needle hole” state? And how are two pictures taken at the same sensitivity (ISO200), practically with the same shutter speed (1/160 and 1/125), but different apertures (F57 and F6.3), with the same exposure? And F6.3 is on the street. Or was a nuclear explosion used as a flash when shooting pencils for lighting? I've never dealt with makrikas, that's why such a genuine interest.

          1. Read that the lens is damaged and understand its essence. Actually, therefore, near the values of F there is '*'
          2. Closed apertures are not a problem for a flash, especially if there are several flashes.

          • Vladimir

About the fact that the lens with a defect I read. It turns out that at the time of exposure the aperture really did not close to such values?

        • Denis

When shooting with flash, exposure is affected by flash brightness, which (usually) changes. Therefore, with different aperture, shutter speed and sensitivity, the result can be the same due to flash correction.

  • Anna

tell me, if you have such an objective, does it make sense to take a fifty dollars?

  • Basil

I ordered myself a Nikon micro 60 2.8 Non D, now I'm waiting for it, and accidentally stumbled upon this little article where the author says that XA and the sharpness difference are significant. Now I'm sitting and thinking .. http://cannonfastreviews.com/nikon-60mm-f2-8-macro-d-vs-non-d/

Read / listen to the Anonists less. The lens will come, test it yourself. Do not like to sell, then a business for a penny.

    • zengarden

Testing macro lenses on an open aperture against the sun to shoot architecture is, of course, very informative :) but will you become similar to doing it? so don’t be upset.

      • Basil

After the lens arrived, we immediately made a test of it, and the resolution is very decent and the sharpness is “better than the L boot but worse than the Zeiss macro frame. Before that, I took exactly the weave (105) D version, I was shocked by the image quality. Everything is at an unrealistically high level. here are the crops with the latest L canona and 105 nikon D. Canon on the right. Both were tested at 5 dm3.
